Whenever I see a picture of someone parachuting it reminds of the army and when I used to go parachuting.

At the time I couldn’t wait to get out of the army, but on hindsight it was the most fun I ever had.

Branding & Design
This started early on as a Twitter only client, so the logo was designed to reflect that. A redesign is going to roll out hopefully sometime soon.

Interaction Design and User Experience
My role was to map out the SMS interactions that would define the Chime experience. This included registration on the web and via SMS as well as the basic interactions such as how users selectively update their Twitter of Facebook account.

Development
The front end is a rethemed Wordpress blog. The registration makes use of some jQuery to get initial registration working. Facebook registration was added at a later stage.

Description:

Telstra’s Whereis Everyone is a friend finder and family minder that makes use of cell tower triangulation to help you find your friends and family. Of course they have to agree to it first! I had to give it a face lift.

Interaction Design and User Experience
Whereis Everyone was an existing product that they wanted to improve upon. Working with the good people at Telstra I mapped out the experience and wireframed interfaces to meet their needs. This was essentially a redesign so there were existing interfaces that needed to be reworked and flows that needed to be rejigged.

Design
Apart from redoing layouts, the application had to be given a new look based on Telstra’s own brand.

Description:

mPoll allows anyone to build and distribute mobile surveys through a simple interface.

The application started as an idea, so I had to put a face to the concept as well as the name.

Interaction Design and User Experience
My role was to design the initial user experience and later continue guiding the interactions throughout the iterations. Wireframing the initial concepts, and taking them through to development and beyond.

Because the key selling point is simplicity, the aim was to get users in and building with as little hassle as possible. The key to all this would be to provide a simple to use builder. I designed it to allow users to edit content in place and see in real time what their survey would look like on a mobile. This would also fit into the concept of quick, casual surveys that users would be happy to quickly complete.

Development – Web & Mobile
I built the framework for the front end, including AJAX based navigation, the builder and reporting interface interface. This was later handed over to an engineer who added components on top of it. I also built HTML templates for the mobile UI which were tested on a variety of handsets so that the engineer would be able to insert code and get it going straight away.

Based on the cutting edge GSMA OneAPI standard, the Locatrix Developer Portal allows developers to access services provided by network operators through a simple API.

Interaction Design and User Experience
I wireframed and mapped out the flow of the application. This site revolves around the manipulation of data from several user levels from user to admin to “super admin”, so each experience had to be designed to allow each user to achieve their task as quickly and easily as possible. This included the creation of various search and filter mechanisms that would allow users to view data usage reports.

Development
The front end is all based on jQuery parsing JSON.
