In the name of Allah: Any camps and processions that open for the sake of mourning the Ahlul-Bayt (as) should keep in mind the spirit of the houses of Bani Hashim and the house of the prophet's (pbuh & hf) holy progeny (as) after the tragedy of Karbala and under the supervision of the holy Imams (as). Furthermore, it should be noted that it is not permissible to take advantage of these places and use them as way to earn money or political fame.

Muharram is the first month of the Islamic calendar, when Muslims commemorate the martyrdom of Imam Husayn, the grandson of the Prophet Mohammad and spiritual leader of the Shi'a people.
Imam Husayn's martyrdom is a sad day for all Muslims especially the Shi'a, who mourn the massacre of their "Prince of Martyrs" and his family in Karbala in 61AH/680CE.

Imam Husayn held the title of Imam, meaning spiritual leader of Islam; and he refused to swear allegiance to Yazid, the second Umayyad Caliph. He tried to travel from Medina to Kufa but was surrounded by forces loyal to Yazid in the desert at a place now known as Karbala.

Imam Husayn's followers were greatly outnumbered and dying of thirst, indeed his brother 'Abbas was killed trying to bring water back to the camp. On the 10th day of Muharram, Imam Husayn's followers were massacred and their leader beheaded after declaring, "death with dignity is better than life with humiliation".

The commemoration of this brutal massacre begins on the first day of Muharram and continues for 40 days. During the first 10 days of Muharram millions of Shi'a (and Sunni) Muslims remember the massacre at Karbala and strive to feel some of Husayn's pain.
The 10th day of Muharram is known as 'Ahsura' which recalls the day of the massacre in Karbala, a town in modern day Iraq which is second only to Mecca and Najaf as a spiritual beacon to the Shi'a.

Just 100km south of Baghdad, Karbala houses the shrine of Imam Husayn and his brother Al-Abbas. For centuries Shi'a pilgrims flocked here during Muharram, a practice which was severely limited under the regime of Saddam Hussein.

This year for the first time in nearly 30 years Shi'as can openly commemorate Muharram in the streets of Karbala without fear of repercussions. For many pilgrims this will be their first taste of religious freedom in post-war Iraq.

What does it mean to pour water, or to plant flowers or
plants, on the graves?

A. To pour water on the grave after burial is Sunnah. According
to some Ahadith, it is Sunnah to do so upto 40 days. It has
one pragmatic and one spiritual significance.
Water strengthens the grave; and also it is a symbol of the
Mercy of Allah. Planting flowers or plants has no basis in
Shari'ah. It is an innovation which should be avoided.
The late Agha Seyyid Mohsin Al-Hakim had given the ruling
that industrial alcohol is Najis. I hear that Agha Seyyid Abul
Qasim Al-Khoui has given the ruling that it is Tahir. Is
it correct?
A. Yes. Agha Seyyid Mohsin Al-Hakim (r.a.) gave a ruling that
industrial alcohol was Najis, even if one did not know that it
was made of Najis things. Now, Agha-e-Al-Khoui has been told
by many chemists that absolute alcohol (i.e. having less than
one percent water) in itself is not intoxicating; it only intoxicates
when it is mixed with some other liquids.
Acting on this information, Agha-e-Al-Khoui has said that alcohol
in itself is not Najis; but when it is mixed with other liquids
and creates intoxication then that liquid is najis
There is no doubt that holding a ceremony in commemoration of divine saints is a manifestation of the people’s love and affection to them, an act which is confirmed by the Holy Qur’an.

The Qur’an considers the act of honoring the station of the Messenger of Allah (S) and helping him as a criterion for uprightness and felicity.

It is so evident from the quoted verse that honoring the Messenger of Allah (S) is a wholesome and acceptable act from the viewpoint of Islam, and holding a ceremony, which refreshes the splendorous memory of the Prophet (S) and hails his lofty station is something which pleases God. This verse mentions four attributes of the righteous:

a. Faith: ﴾ بِهِ ءَامَنُوا فَٱلَّذِيْنَ ﴿ “Those who believe in him”;

b. Following his light: ﴾ مَعَهُ أُنزِلَ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱلنُّورَ وَٱتَّبَعُوا ﴿ “And follow the light that has been sent down with him”;

c. Helping him: ﴾ وَنَصَرُوهُ ﴿ “And help him”; and

d. Honoring the station of the Prophet (S): ﴾ وَعَزَّرُوهُ ﴿ “And honor him”.

Therefore, honoring and paying homage to the Prophet (S) alongside faith, assisting him and following his orders, is an expedient affair, and commemorating the Holy Prophet (S) corresponds to “honoring him”.

Holding of ceremonies is the same as following and obeying God

God hails the Holy Prophet (S) in the Glorious Qur’an, and states:

ورفعنا لك ذكرك

“Did We not exalt your name?”3

This noble verse shows clearly that God wishes that the splendor and magnificence of the Prophet (S) prevail in the world and He Himself hails him in the verses of the Qur’an.

Following our heavenly book, we also hail the lofty station of that model of perfection and virtue by holding splendorous ceremonies. In doing so, we express an extent of our loyalty and obedience to the Lord of the worlds.

It is obvious that the aim of the Muslims’ holding such ceremonies is nothing but exalting the Holy Prophet (S).

Sending down revelation is not less significant than sending down table-spread {ma’idah}

The Glorious Qur’an thus quotes a prophet of God, ‘Isa (Jesus) (‘a) as saying:

﴿ قَالَ عِيسَى ابْنُ مَرْيَمَ اللَّهُمَّ رَبَّنَا أَنزِلْ عَلَيْنَا مَآئِدَةً مِّنَ السَّمَاء تَكُونُ لَنَا عِيداً لِّأَوَّلِنَا وَآخِرِنَا وَآيَةً مِّنكَ وَارْزُقْنَا وَأَنتَ خَيْرُ الرَّازِقِينَ ﴾

“Said Jesus son of Mary, ‘O Allah! Our Lord! Send down to us a table from the sky, to be a festival for us, for the first ones and the last ones among us and as a sign from You, and provide for us; for You are the best of providers’.”4

Hadrat ‘Isa (‘a) requests a heavenly table-spread from God to celebrate the day of its coming down.
Now, when a revered prophet like Jesus (‘a) celebrates the day of sending down the heavenly table-spread, which brings physical enjoyment to people, can we say that Muslims’ celebration of the day of sending down divine revelation or the birthday of the Holy Prophet (S), who is the savior of mankind and the cause of human societies’ survival, an act of polytheism {shirk} or innovation in religion {bid‘ah}?!

The Muslims’ Practice

The followers of Islam have been holding such ceremony for a long time with the aim of refreshing the memory of the Holy Prophet (S).

In Tarikh al-Khamis, Husayn ibn Muhammad ad-Diyar Bakri thus writes:
The Muslims of the world always hold ceremonies during the month of birth of the Prophet, hold banquets, give charity during the nights, express merriment, multiply their good deeds, and take to reciting poems on his birth, and making known his all-encompassing blessings and graces to all.5

The things we have mentioned verify the general ruling of the permissibility and merit of commemorating eminent sacred personages which is consistent with the viewpoint of the Qur’an and the practice of Muslims, and the groundlessness of the supposition that holding ceremonies in commemoration of the beloved of God isbid‘ah; for, bid‘ah is something, the particular or general permissibility of which is not inferred from the Qur’an and the Sunnah, whereas the general judgment of the mentioned issue can be noticed in the Qur’anic verses and perennial practice of the Muslims.

In the same vein, holding such ceremonies is intended to express honor and respect to the meritorious servants of God with the belief in their servitude to and neediness of the Lord of the worlds.

Therefore, the said practice is completely compatible with the principle of monotheism and unity of God.

As such, it is evident that the claim of those who say that holding ceremonies in commemoration of eminent sacred people is tantamount to committing polytheism and associating others with God is baseless and unfounded.

Question:
If the Imam Mahdi AJK is supposed to be the only one who will rise by the sword why did Imam Hussain A.S fight?

Answer:
Every Infallible Imam does his best to save Islam in the best way that the circumstances allow. Imam Husain (AS) had no other way to save Islam but to rise with sword against Yazeed, while other Imams after him did not rise with sword because of the difference in circumstances which lead to different results. Imam Al-Mahdi (AS) will rise with sword as well because he will be the Imam who will remove all types of injustice and establish justice all over the world, and such great aim needs him to rise with sword. Question:
SALAHUDDIN AYYUBIIS GLORIFIED BY MANY MUSLIMS AS THE ONE WHO FOUGHT FOR THE RIGHTS OF MUSLIMS AGAINST JEWS AND CHRISTIANS, WHAT IS THE VIEW OF OUR SHIAH SCHOLARS IN THIS REGARD?

Answer:
Salahuddin Ayyubi was made a hero by some persons out of political reasons because he was the ruler who destroyed the Fatimid state and killed tens of thousands of Shia Musims in Cairo and Syria (Halab). He has destroyed Shia libraries and burnt thousands of books written by Shia scholras. Salahuddin Ayyubi was the ruler who stopped the Abbasid Khaliph from sending an army to remove the crusaders from Palestine, because he did not want to lose his chair.Recently,a very important book containing Salahuddin Ayybi's day to day matters which were been registered by his own Court persons, was published .It proves that he was drinking alcohol every day, and he has never been to Hajj, and he had secret relations with the non Muslims and he promised them to leave them ruling over majority of Palestine except Al Quds being a symbol, and his aim was just to remain as a ruler. There are many other details published in many books like what was written by the famous historian Suhail Zakkar and the famous historian Hasan Al Ameen and others. Wassalam. Narrated Ibn Abbass: .....And no doubt after the death of the Prophet we were informed that the Ansar disagreed with us and gathered in the shed of Bani Sa'da. 'Ali and Zubair and whoever was with them, opposed us, while the emigrants gathered with Abu Bakr.........
The reason is that in such a situation, Imam Ali (as) had only two choices; he could either unsheathe his sword and begin to fight in defense of his and his families rights (which one of those rights was to be true successor to the Prophet (pbuh) after him), or to stay silent and begin to strengthen Islam in other fields (even though he had been deprived of being khalifah after the Prophet (pbuh)). Since the first option would result in the disunion and division of the Muslim nation, thus making it prone to attacks by the Roman Empire or those opposing Islam (e.g. the apostates and those who falsely claimed they were divine prophets after Prophet Muhammad (pbuh)), he had no option but to go with the second and sacrifice his wife and child’s lives in order for the Prophet’s efforts and the blood of the martyrs not to be wasted and for Islam to live on.

Did imam ali (a.s) have 3 children named abubakar, omar and othman?if its true why?

Answer:- These names were commonly used by people of that time and they were not special names of the Saqeefa group, so using them did not have any meaning or any sign of praise to the three persons who took the Khilafat.
Many scholars say that the son of Imam Ali by the name of Uthman was named after the pious Sahabi Uthman Ibn Madh'oon who was one of the sincere followers of the Prophet (SAWA) and Imam Ali (AS).
The other two sons were Mohammad who had a Kuniya ( nick name of Abu Bakr) and other was Amr and not Omar.
The opponent of Ahlul Bayt (AS) claim that these names means that the relationship between the three and Ahlul Bayt (AS) was good, but say of it was good, then why Imam Ali (AS) attacked the three in Shaqshaqiya sermon ? And why no one from the three called any of his sons after the names of Ahlul Bayt (AS)?
Could you please tell me all the names of the persons who had attended the Funeral of Holy Prophet pbuh, Thanks

Answer:- Imam Ali (AS) prepared all the requirements of Ghusl, Hanoot and Kafan. He and his own family and sincere companions prayed on the Prophet (SAWA), then all other Muslims prayed on the Prophet (SAWA). when Imam Ali (AS) was busy in preparing the funeral of the Prophet (SAWA), Abu Bakr, Umar, Uthman and their group were busy in Saqeefa trying to take over the rule over Muslims, taking advantage of the involvement of Iman Ali (AS) in the funeral and his inability to come to Saqeefa before completing the funeral arrangements of the Prophet (SAWA).

Why Shia insult the sahaaba of prophet Mohamed (SCW)

Answer:- Shia Muslims are the real followers of Quran and the Prophet (SAWA) , hence
they admire every pious and dislike every sinner. Those who disobeyed the
Prophet after his life are not admired by Shia Muslims and those who
remained faithful and obedient to Allah and the Prophet are admired. You
may read in Saheeh Bukhari Hadeeth al Hawdh in which the Prophet had said
the many of my companions will be sent to hell fire because they will
deviate after me.
Answer:
This area of land was gifted to Hadhrat Fatima (sa) by the Prophet (pbuh) during his lifetime. Soon after the Prophet’s (pbuh) death, the first caliph Abu Bakr took Fadak under his control and Syeda Fatima (sa) demanded it back. Her demand was not accepted as it is clear from history and instead the issue was turned into a matter of inheritance rather than a gift. Therefore, Syeda Fatima (sa) went ahead and claimed her right over the land through Qur’anic verses even when it came to getting her right under the pretext of an inheritance.

This issue (alongside many others) as it is evident from the many narrations led Hadhrat Fatima (sa) to remain angry with the caliph till the time she left the world.

The Eminent Sheikh At-Tusi wrote: “One of the denied facts is that they (Umar and his followers) hit Fatima (the blessing of Allah be upon her) although it has been narrated that they flogged her with a strip and a famous opinion that no one amongst the Shia scholars dispute about, is that Umar hit her on her stomach (womb) until she was forced to have a miscarriage, where the miscarried baby was named Mohassan. The narration (of the event) is even famous amongst them (the Sunnis), as well as the narration of their intention to burn her house when a group of sincere companions who had refused to pay allegiance and sought refuge to her house. And no one can deny this narration because we have proven it from amongst the Sunni sources through the narration of Al-Balathari and others, and the Shia narrations are numerous and our scholars indisputably accept them.”
(Talkhis Al-Shafi 3:156)

When this news reached Umar bin al-Khattab, he went to approachFatimaand said to her: “O daughter of the Messenger of Allah, I swear by Allah that there is no one more beloved to us than your father and there is no one more beloved to us after your father than you. And by Allah, that will not prevent me from ordering your house to be burnt on them if they gather with you (at your house)”.

Abu Bakr bin Shayba said: When Umar left, they (Ali and Zubayr) returned to her. She said to them “Umar had just come to me and said that if you were to return here, he will burn the house on you, and I swear by Allah that he will do exactly what he has said.” (Al-Musannaf – Kitabul Maghazi 8:572)

b. An-Nassabi, commonly known as Ahmad bin Yahya Jabir Al-Baghdadi Al-Balathari (who passed away in the year 270 A.H), the author of Ansabul Ashraaf, narrates: Abu Bakr sent for Ali to pledge allegiance to him (Abu Bakr), but he (Ali) refused. So Umar came (to his house) with a fire-lamp. Fatimaencountered him at the door (of the house) and said: “O Ibn Al-Khattab, are you going to burn the door on ME?” He said “Yes! And this (burning the house) makes what your father had come with stronger…” (Ansaabul Ashraaf 1:586)

c. The famous historian Abdullah bin Muslim bin Qutayba Dinwari (who died in the year 276 A.H) has narrated: Abu Bakr realised that a group of people who were with Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) did not pledge allegiance to him (Abu Bakr). So he (Abu Bakr) sent Umar to them who called for them while they were in Ali’s house, but they refused to come out (to pledge allegiance). So Umar ordered his men to get wood and said: I swear by the One whom Umar’s soul is in His power, you have to get out (of the house) or I will burn it down on whosoever is inside it!” Someone said to him: “O Aba-Hafs, but Fatima is inside!” Umar replied: “So what!!” And he walked with a group of his men until he reached the door ofFatima’s house and knocked on it. When she heard their voices she cried loudly: “O father! O Messenger of Allah! What is being inflicted upon us after your death from ibn Al-Khattab and ibn Abi-Qohafah?!”

When the people (who were with Umar) heard the voice and the cry of Fatima, some of them left. Umar with a few members of the group remained, forced Ali out of the house, took him to Abu Bakr and told him “Pledge your allegiance!” He (Ali) replied, “And if I don’t then what?” They replied, “By Allah whom there is no other God but Him, we will cut off your head!” (Al-Imamah was-siyasah 13&12)

D. THE FAMOUS HISTORIAN MUHAMMAD BIN JARIR AT-TABARI (WHO PASSED AWAY IN THE YEAR 310 A.H) NARRATED: UMAR BIN AL-KHATTAB WENT TO THE HOUSE OF ALI. TALHA, ZUBAYR AND SOME MEN FROM THE MUHAJIREEN WERE ALSO INSIDE. HE (UMAR) SAID: BY ALLAH, I WILL BURN THE HOUSE ON YOU UNLESS YOU GO TO PLEDGE YOUR ALLEGIANCE (TO ABU BAKR). SO ZUBAYR CAME OUT WITH HIS SWORD DRAWN, BUT HE TRIPPED AND THE SWORD FELL FROM HIS HAND, SO (THE MEN WITH UMAR) CAPTURED HIM AND TOOK HIM. (TARIKHUL TABARI 2:443)

e. Ahmad, who is known as Ibn ‘Abd Rabbih Al-Undulosi, who is the author of the book Al-‘Iqdul Farid (who passed away in the year 463 A.H) has said: As for Ali, Al-Abbas and Zubayr, they remained in the house of Fatima until Abu Bakr sent Umar to force them out. He (Abu Bakr) instructed Umar: “If they refuse, then fight them!” So he (Umar) approached them with a burning flame to burn the house on them. So Fatima addressed him and said: “O ibn Al-Khattab! And the cause of her death was that Qunfuth, the slave of the man (i.e. Abu Bakr), by the command of his master (Abu Bakr), hit her with his sword, from which she miscarried Muhassan, and she became severely ill from this event. And she did not allow anyone of those whom harmed her to enter her house. There were two of the companions of the Prophet (i.e. Umar and Abu Bakr) who asked Amir Al-mumineen (Imam Ali) to intercede on their behalf (and ask Fatima to allow them to enter). He (Imam Ali) asked her and she permitted (for them to enter). When they entered, they remarked “How are you O daughter of the Messenger of Allah?” She replied “I am well, praise to Allah”. Then she told them both, “Have you not heard the Prophet say “Fatima is a part of me, whosoever hurts her has in fact hurt me, and whoever hurts me has in fact hurt Allah”?” They both affirmed that. She said “I swear by Allah that you have both hurt me.” So they both left the house and she was displeased with them. (Dala-il Al-Imamah 45)

I swear by Allah, the sanctity of Allah has been violated! I swear by Allah, the sanctity of Allah has been violated! O my mother, blessings of Allah upon her!” (Bihar Al-Anwar 22:476).
