Well Socrates seems like a very intelligent fellow!! The image above pretty much sums up how I have been for the last three weeks, busy busy busy. Productive, but not in terms of life, the universe and everything. Time seems to whizz by at an extremely rapid rate when in the thick of such a work load. It wasn't until I sat outside a week ago working on some woods for wand making that I realized just how totally overwhelming working at light speed really is.

In those moments whilst I was working quietly with my wood, the sun warming my body, the wind gently brushing my face and whispering it's secrets into my ears, there was an immediate soul connection - a realization of just how connected to the universe we are in those peaceful moments when we are creating from within our heart space. It was a magical moment - a reminder from the universe "beware the barrenness of a busy life" for within such busyness, we lose sight of our connections and the things that are truly important.

For many years now Sue and I have made the pilgrimage to Adelaide to attend the Expo. We always have a wonderful day soaking up all the vibes, lovely people and gorgeous goodies, (from the minute it opens to almost closing time I might add). Have even written about previous treks here on the blog. The last couple of years Sue has said, "Well, when are we going to sell there???" Looks like 2013 is the year.........

This year my Leopards Lair website will be having a stall at the fabulous Body, Mind & Psychic Expo at the Wayville Showgrounds in Adelaide SA. The Expo will be held the first weekend in June, so I am getting rather excited (and perhaps a little panic stricken) as the time moves closer. So much to do and organize!! The perfectionist in me is getting in the way at this moment, as I try to sort through a million design ideas and creative visions. All this as well as deciding on the layout for the 3 x 2 metre site. Decisions, decisions.

The long term vision is to continue having a stall at the Expo, (it is only held once a year) so with this in mind, husband and I headed to the city to IKEA (where would we be without the flatpack???) to look for suitable shelving for the site. Long term investment at an extra-ordinarily reasonable price, with the added bonus of actually looking pretty flash. Standing in IKEA for numerous hours, wandering round and round in circles probably wasn't high on husbands list of great things to do, but he managed and eventually with a vision in my head of how the stall would look, we headed down to the warehouse section to retrieve the many flatpacks I had chosen for the layout.

I have had them for a little while and was intending to wait to put them all together (space is always an issue in a busy household) but like I said, panic mode has set in!! This long weekend the little voice went totally rampant inside my head and yelled at me, "DO IT, do it now!!" So I did..........

seven boxes in total

Mrs Kitty Kat isn't really that impressed with my efforts

one down, six to go

It did take me almost an entire day, but all seven pieces are now 'locked and loaded'. Needless to say I could barely walk straight the following day, (this body isn't what it used to be) the 'up down, up down' for eight hours was a little like an Ironman workout I have to tell you.

The next big issue was of course the placement of all seven pieces - it is one thing to stand in IKEA with a vision in your head, it is another to bring it to life and make it 'fit'. Round and round we go again!! I marked out a 3 x 2 section on the floor with masking tape and away I went, shuffling and sliding until it magically fell into place (well, sort of anyway). So, for the moment I am pretty happy, still lots of bits and pieces to organize but we are part way there at least. Sneak peak below.

There will be lots of website specials for the Expo. I do hope my SA customers will come along and catch up with us on the 1st & 2nd of June at the Adelaide Showgrounds. We will be stall 146, but I think the leopard bits and pieces might give us away. Stay tuned for more blog posts about getting organized for the weekend as the time draws nearer.

What a difference a coat of paint can make to your life. Dramatic statement I know, but it is amazing how uplifted I now feel after attacking part of the house with a paint brush. I know one should not complain when one has all the creature comforts on tap, but small things can alter a person's perception and demeanor completely.

We live in a brown brick house you see; solid, sturdy and brown brown brown!! Brown floors, brown walls, brown ceilings. So for a creature of light, it is like having to live underground in a cave with the walls seemingly pressing closer every day, claustrophobic almost.

When husband winged away for his annual fishing trip, I decided I had had enough. I searched the net for pictures of painted bricks, just to make sure it wasn't going to end up looking even worse than it already did, and came across quite a rustic wash effect which really appealed to me. Off I toddled to the local hardware store and chatted with Mark the owner, to see what paint he would suggest. He was very helpful and I left paint in hand and began the mammoth task of painting hundreds and hundreds of bricks in the bedroom individually with a paint brush!! (Yes, individually, the bricks themselves were quite rough and the concrete channels between the bricks quite deep.)

(Picture of the bricks as they were.) The info on the net told me one part water to six parts paint. When I looked inside the can I thought, no, I really don't think that will do. What popped into my head when studying the paint in the can, was one part water two parts paint. Always one to listen to that inner voice, I mixed my first batch and went for it. Wow, it was awesome, a nice washy rustic look. Has taken me quite a while, as obviously there are many other things which need attending to in everyday life, but now it is finished and the room has been totally transformed. Looks so much bigger and SO much brighter. Wouldn't even know it was the same room.

In readiness for the transformation, I had purchased a beautiful light coloured quilt cover on Ebay and some gauzy, floaty curtains from Spotlight. I left them sitting on the couch until the final brick was painted, this was my motivation to keep at it. It certainly worked, as this little 'project' was completed quicker than any other I have undertaken since being in the brown house.

Of course now I am going to give my wooden furniture a facelift as well. Nice creamy white distressed look (my favourite), and then the room will be perfect. There is a spring in my step and a bright light bursting from within, what a difference a coat of paint can make.

This range of handcrafted wood and crystal healing wands have been made exclusively
for the Leopards Lair. I felt there was a need for Australian made
wands for Australian Light Workers using the woods from our own
beautiful and unique gum trees. The eucalyptus oil which permeates our
gum trees is a powerful natural antiseptic and healing oil, making it
the perfect wood for healing and balancing work.

All woods used are semi-'green' meaning
the trees living energy is retained by your wand. Each branch presented
itself and did ask to be reborn into the stunning healing tools you see
here. Likewise, the crystals chose the woods to be paired with and also
chose their own combinations for each wand. Most of the wands have been
adorned with beautiful bird feathers. I find bird energy to be extremely
uplifting. The element of freedom that is attached to birds and their
ability to soar through the skies is something I think we all strive
for. All feathers have been found on my numerous walks into the bush
and while on camping trips into the middle of Australia, and have fallen
from the birds due to the natural moulting process. The feather
adornment can easily be removed should you wish to use your wand without
the feathers.

The woods have been oiled with natural
mineral oil to help retain the suppleness of young wood and prevent
splitting. This is a process you can continue yourself at home if you
choose. Just rub on with a soft cloth when you feel the wand is drying
out, let sit for a day and then polish with another soft cloth to remove
the oily feel. The oil deepens the colour of the wood, so it will

Wands are the traditional healing tools
of shamans, healers and metaphysicians. The magic wands of myth and
legend, they are believed to have been used by the highly evolved
crystal healers of Atlantis.

Wands have the ability to focus energy tightly through
their tip. When using a wand, it is important consciously to allow
universal healing energy to flow in through your crown chakra, down your
arm to the hand holding the wand, and then into the wand where it is
amplified and passed into the patient. It is important not to use your
own energy for healing as it is inefficient, you can become weak and
depleted and need healing yourself.

When choosing a wand, let yourself be guided by your intuition. This
will allow you to feel which one is right for you. You may build a
collection of wands made from various types of gemstones to have a
variety on hand for different purposes. It's normal for crystal wands to
have minor impurities in the stone, but be wary of any that appear to
have large fractures, as these eventually could cause the wand to break.

Attune the wand to your energy. Because a magic wand is intended as a
tool to amplify your personal power, it is important that you form an
energetic bond with the wand. Carry it with you as much as possible.
Hold the tool and meditate on how you will use it. Speak your intentions
out loud, for instance, say something like "I will use this wand for
transmitting my energy in a positive way."

"Man needs colour to live; it's just as necessary an element as fire and water."

Fernand Leger

Indeed, where would we be without colour?? For millions of years man on all corners of the earth, has been experimenting with natural substances to replicate the colours of nature - to adorn not only the walls surrounding him, but his body, his artifacts and his soul.

Colors are capable of influencing many aspects of our lives, including
our mood, mental state and energy level. Each color is
associated with our energy centers, or chakras.
If a person's chakra is thought to be out of balance or weak, the color
it's associated with is believed to help strengthen it.

Today our colour study will be Red. Red is associated with our first chakra - the base, or root chakra known as the Muladhara, it is located at the base of the spine. The main focus of this chakra is our physical existence - instinct, security, survival and also to basic human
potentiality. Physically, the base chakra governs sexuality, mentally it
governs stability, emotionally it governs sensuality, and spiritually it
governs a sense of security. It is responsible for the fight-or-flight response when survival is under threat.

Red can stimulate and boost physical energy, strengthen
willpower, increase circulation and clear congestion. Too much red may overstimulate and possibly promote anger or
aggressiveness. Studies have also shown that certain colors can have an impact on performance. Exposing students to the color red prior to an exam
has been shown to have a negative impact on test performance. More
recently, researchers discovered that the color red causes people to react with greater speed and force, something that might prove useful during athletic activities.

When our first chakra is balanced we exhibit the positive qualities of - stability, vitality, loyalty, prosperity, patience, tenacity and success in our careers. There is a feeling of complete trust that you will always be supported, and that you will
always receive all that you need. In its natural healthy state, your
base chakra helps you to feel gratitude and appreciation for
everything that comes your way. When we are out of balance the resulting malfunctions could present as - bowel, blood or bone disorders - obesity, anorexia, anxiety, a feeling of 'spaciness', chronic fear, materialism or general instability (these malfunctions are exhibited for a chakra operating in both a deficient or excessive state).

Stones associated with the first chakra -

Black or Snowflake Obsidian - help you to see what material things you no longer need for growth.

Carnelian - for creativity and decision making.

Garnet - encourages patience.

Red jasper - helps us to connect to the flowing energies of the earth.

Black Tourmaline is a protective stone when you feel threatened at the survival level.

Red garnets

Foods for a healthy First Chakra -

Red-colored foods (red peppers, red chard, tomatoes, etc)

All proteins (red meat, nuts, dairy products, beans)

Root vegetables (beets are the quintessential first chakra food)

Edible & medicinal mushrooms

To help balance your first chakra you can meditate with any of the above stones, carry them in your pocket or sit them on your work desk. Eat the red foods listed and Patchouli or Sandalwood are excellent essential oils to have. You can also check out the Red colour board on Pinterest for a visual explosion to help tune in to your first chakra.

Colour psychology boards on Pinterest - soon!!

Well it's official, I'm spending way too much time on Pinterest!! But, I love it, there are so many amazing images it's hard not to stay in there browsing for hours. I have started quite a few boards and have had a wonderful time finding images to save to them. There are just so many images out there and for someone like me who is so visually oriented, it's a little like being sucked into a black hole!!

As I was sitting here this morning contemplating on just how much time I spend in this fantastical maze of imagery, I was also thinking of what to write for the blog..........as those two thoughts began to overlap I realized I could incorporate the two quite nicely. I do have a couple of crystal boards set up, Aura Quartz & Andara crystals. But as I recalled the colour posts I wrote on the blog ages ago, I could see Pinterest boards in all the colours, a great way to expand on what has been written here with way more visuals. Something to really get excited about!!

So...........that will be the next set of boards. We'll re-do the colour therapy sessions via the blog and set up inspiring image boards in the corresponding colour as I write about them. You can view my current boards here Pinterest Boards until I set up.
Love this!! I am currently adding labels to blog posts, so if you are looking for all of the quotes you can click the title 'Quotes to Inspire' on the sidebar under the Labels heading. Much easier, truly I am slowly becoming more organized.....who would have thought!!

As you all know, I love inspirational and motivational quotes. I have just created this one on a platform called PicMonkey. Such a cool free tool you can have hours of fun with!! So get creating and save your quotes to Pinterest, Facebook, Twitter, or your own blog.

As this one was my first there are still a few things to sort out, like sizing, this one is probably a little small for the blog now that Karen has revamped the pic sizes I can have here (goes way too blurry when enlarged, oops!!) so I need to remember that when setting up the next one.

We are all artists and this is a wonderful platform to bring out that creative light within. Happy creating !!

I began my collections to coincide with the new blog face and I have to tell you I am hooked. If you are like me and love a visual explosion, this is the place to be. Your own place on the internet to store images of ALL the things you love, neatly filed away on their own boards (albums) in one single spot.

Being a Saturday I have allowed myself to dawdle through the morning doing whatever I chose rather than work work work!! Looked up at the clock and suddenly realized OMG it's midday and I'm still in my PJ's - creating Pinterest boards!!! Not that it matters, husband is away fishing with his cronies for the weekend, it was just the fact that the entire morning had somehow slipped away faster than the speed of light.

From my Pinterest Sunrises board
Original photo by Cameron B

There is so much to see, find and collect on Pinterest without even going out into the world wide web!! If you are planning an event, organizing a wedding, renovating, looking for recipes or just love images of cats or whatever, this is the place to be. You can collect and store a gazillion images and ideas all on your very own Pinterest space. But be warned....... you will disappear into 'the zone' and once in there, it is awfully difficult to climb back out again!! Happy pinning.......

Karen from Valentine Design has done an amazing job capturing the essence of 'me' with some of the things I love and has turned them all into a fresh new blog face. I totally love it and hope you all do too. Check out Karen's own blog, My Desert Cottage, it is gorgeous. Karen is a very motivated creative and I appreciate all the help she gave whilst working on this project. Thankyou Karen, you are an inspiration and a legend!!

There is still some homework for me to do, re-arranging and sorting pages etc, which could take me a little while. Everything is still business as usual whilst I continue on my merry way, re-doing and revamping, so if something goes a little skew wiffy while you are reading, don't worry, it's only me sorting the 'new look' into it's proper place.

We are now linked to Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest, so there are a number of different options for you to follow. As with anything, Rome wasn't built in a day, so bear with me whilst I build on these new platforms which will also incorporate my Leopards Lair website into the mix.

Remember, 2013 is the year of change - Big Year, Big Changes!! I seem to be sweeping through every aspect of my life and making huge changes, from my hair, right down to a new accountant. Be bold, be brave and travel well xx
Had a great day beach hopping and fossicking yesterday. No fish for hubby but plenty of glass for me. It was awesome!!! First beach was very rocky, ideal for catching glass shards, but the rocks were perhaps too big and too high. The glass I found there was a little 'fresh' (not tumbled enough). I think once the shards were trapped within the big rocks they couldn't get out and back to being rolled and tumbled round and round to create that gorgeous smooth finish. Mind you I did find my first piece of lilac glass, which I kept despite being not quite ready, a treasure is a treasure after all!!!

Next beach we went to was mostly sand, but there was a ridge of shell matter which does indicate there could be glass. Only found a couple of pieces though, would probably be great after a big storm.

As it happened, the last beach we tried was a cracker. At first glance it was all sand, so I said to hubby, "I'll just wander to the cliff at the end of the beach, looks like a bit of rocky matter there." It was only a small outcrop but the amount of shell grit there was a good sign. I wandered in amongst the rocks and hit sea glass pay dirt!! It was every where, beautifully tumbled and very smooth edges. I was in my element playing in the waves as they came crashing in and revealing even more glass beneath the layering of shells. The selection above is part of the days haul. Some beautiful aqua, seafoams and bright greens. I already have a large quantity of brown glass, so I wasn't going to collect any more. But the smoothness of the pieces was so good I couldn't help myself.

I love finding bottle bottoms, big chunks of glass, probably useless for anything other than to look at, but to me they are awesome. To travel the oceans and arrive somewhere still quite in tact is amazing. Yesterday I found two, yin and yang!! A big frosty white bottom and a matching black bottom. That in itself was a find, black is quite hard to score. There are so many natural black rocks that the black glass is often overlooked. But this nice big chunk was sitting there looking at me, a good 2 1/2 x 2 1/2 inches. Can't quite see the ridging in the photo but it is definitely a bottle bottom and I love it!! This of course spurred me on to look even more carefully for smaller pieces. It is quite tricky trying to distinguish the difference between a black rock and a piece of 'black' glass. But if you hold them up to the light you just get a deep olivey tinge if it is glass. I ended up finding about half a dozen pieces, which was a real treat for the day.

There were some beautiful jewellery quality pieces, and of course the two best finds were collected by the apprentice, my husband!! The gorgeous aqua piece above and the large piece next to it is actually a beautiful soft lilac. I was excited at such great finds but also a little put out that the fisherman found the best pieces LOL. And then I found something quite unusual. Nice golden coloured chunk, extremely light to hold. It was just glistening in amongst the shells. When I picked it up I immediately thought of amber, but wondered how on earth could that be?? Now that I have inspected it thoroughly I am pretty sure it is. There is matter trapped within it and it is incredibly light to hold. Not quite sure how it could be there or how it could have lasted through it's journey through the oceans, but it certainly looks like amber to me. See what you think?

It is about an inch long x half an inch x half an inch. Quite an interesting find and a great end to a fantastic day of seaglunking!!

I just love sea glass, the randomness and beauty of these traveling shards moves me deeply. I love the feel of it and I love working with it. It is always so exciting to find these treasures washed up on the beach. I can walk for hours looking intently through the sand, rocks and shells for those elusive magickal pieces of glass.

I have recently started incorporating the glass I find into my wire wrapped pendants. It is a joy to work with and adds a whole new level to my jewellery making. It is a little tricky drilling it though, but so far I have only made one boo boo!!

http://theleopardslair.com.au/wild-child-rustic-wrap-jewellery-c-71.html

I love this piece I have named 'Spectral' made with frosty clear sea-glass, incorporating a sparkly pyrite nugget, four herkimer diamonds and three champagne pink rainbow tourmaline pieces wrapped with sterling silver wire and comes complete with a pearl coloured genuine leather choker, also made by me.

http://theleopardslair.com.au/wild-child-rustic-wrap-jewellery-c-71.html

This one I have named 'Seafoam' for pretty obvious reasons, made with delicate aqua seafoam sea-glass and a natural turquoise wafer from the Sonoran Desert. Love this colour!!! There is always a heap of beer bottle brown and wine bottle green to find on the beaches, so when I happen across this delicate seafoam hue I am always very excited and wonder what it was originally.

So, the glass is calling and I am away. Happy day everyone, enjoy your weekend break!!

I have been more organized in the last two weeks than I have been for the entire last year!! There is a necessary need burning within to 'tidy up loose ends,' so I can move forward freely and step into my destiny. Creative ideas are flowing, commitments being locked in and all is good.

Happy New Year everyone!!! I have been incredibly unfocused and out of sorts for most of 2012, so I am rather happy to see the end of it just quietly. I didn't make any new years resolutions as such, just silently vowed to myself that I would be more organized, more focused, more committed to the things that are important to me, and get back on track with my life's journey. I know I know, everything happens for a reason. The last two years have been a very testing time which highlighted some extremely painful truths, areas that really needed to be worked on for me to be comfortable within my own skin whilst traveling my own life path. Pretty much the 'make or break point', that dark night of the soul region no one wants to travel to, and I have spent many hours cocooned in my favourite leopard print blanket feeling rather numb and consequently quite mute, hence not much activity on this blog.

But that is all over now. Been, gone, outta here!!! To tell the honest truth, I felt an incredibly wired sense of excitement as new years approached. Haven't felt such excitement for a long time, it welled up from the very depths of my soul, whispers from an intangible place that has been just outside of my focus. Just feeling that excitement was exciting in itself, and a glimpse of things to come in this very auspicious year. 2013....bring it on!!

Found this beautiful fractal art this morning as I was pondering how best to bring myself back into the world of expression. It is so stunning and such an intricately interwoven piece. Looking at it I felt immediately connected to the vastness of the universe and all it contains. It's creator, Jack Haas, also had the most inspiring description of his art that I have probably ever heard. I have relayed it below the piece with links to his sites so you may also share his beautiful vision. It was the stepping stone I was looking for..................

http://www.celestial-art.net/

http://www.jackhaas.net/

"Like crop circles, celestial art is an invitation to transform from
limited concepts of ourselves, into more expansive, harmonic, cosmic
identities. The images were inspired by greater beings and forces
than our human nature is generally willing to acknowledge. The images
are intended to help the viewer transform into a 'new being', in the
sense that we become new by shedding old, limiting ideas of ourselves.
What we need to understand now is that we are cosmic, unlimited,
eternal, divine beings. It is my hope that these images will assist in
 this essential recognition."
J. Haas

And so begins 2013.......I wish for you all - joy, happiness and the most amazing journey you have yet traveled.
