The ship is finally in at Mawson Station

Yes, after just over a year of waiting for the return of my intrepid explorer husband, the ship has finally made it into the bay at Mawson. What a sight to behold!! Now I can allow myself to start generating a little excitement. They have around a weeks worth of unloading and then re-loading with all the gear that has to return to Hobart. A mammoth task I'm sure, as there are cranes and shipping containers, hagglunds and a few years worth of odd stuff that has accumulated because the ship hasn't been able to get into the iced over bay these last couple of years. They will have their work cut out for them!!

There will be mixed feelings on both fronts, Mawson and home. From all the communication with husband, I have gathered that the entire wintering crew are a great bunch of people. The friendships they have formed from their year of tight living will probably bond them together for the rest of their lives, so it will be incredibly difficult for them all to part company. On the home front families are waiting though, and it will be like Christmas, only better, when we finally get to see their faces again. It has been a big year, with much water flowing under the proverbial bridge!! And I did manage to leave some weeding for husband, knowing how much he would have missed getting his hands into that nice brown earth and green grass!!

Well this is the fourth day running with temps of around 38 (just over 100 for those who don't do celcius). The kitties are flat out like lizards drinking (see following pics) and we are all pretty much over it I think. Not much effort has been expended I can tell you!!! Add a three and a half foot brown snake lolloping about on the verandah into the mix, plus another broken computer, and I guess you could say, not having the best week!!!! There is more, but I won't bore you with all the details............

In total that makes two computers and one laptop in eighteen months, and let's not forget the two washing machines. Gee, I'm starting to think I may have a bit of a problem. I shall call myself; The Destroyer of all things Electric or, The Electrical Eradicator. Those invisible rays of destruction just shoot forth from my fingers frying any electrical objects that get in the way. Yes I must remember to laugh!! Although my bank balance is doing everything but!

There are storms on the horizon, according to the weather man, and this I am looking forward to. A cracking big one would be great to wash away all the 'stuff' that has emerged this week. Bring it on!!! And just maybe my computer will miraculously spring back to life, although I am The Destroyer, so it's highly unlikely.

When I first stumbled on this, my brain did an indignant back flip and postulated how incorrect it was. But it was a little like that advert on TV, "It gets in, like the chalk." It kept appearing before me every time I went to the Pinterest site to see what delights were on offer for the day. It was stalking me I decided. And indeed it was, until the penny dropped and I got the message loud and clear!!!

I had it in my head that a wrong choice was just that, a wrong choice with nothing beneficial about it at all. Just a disastrous slap in the face and something to move on from pretty quickly to avoid the pain and senselessness of it. Dare I admit it?? I couldn't have been more wrong..........

Sometimes we move through life with blinkers on, we have a set path before us and we will not diverge from it, under any circumstances almost. Then along comes that little slip up, the wrong choice, and wham, we find ourselves outside of our comfort zone and experiencing something we would not have experienced had we continued moseying along with our blinkers done up tight!!!

The 'discovery' process can be a little difficult though. At first there could be a few tantrums etc, oh this is so not me, not in my plan, how could this happen, why why why??? Until you take a step back and view the situation with different eyes. If you can do this, and there is an art to it, complete honesty with yourself being the key ingredient, the universe will show you why it directed you to make that wrong choice.

Happened to me this week!! I had been cruizing along looking at the page that said, this is what I want to be, instead of the page that said this is what I AM. That one wrong choice really did bring me to the right place.................

Sometimes all it takes to lift someone out from under the clouds, is a single sentence like this. So today I am saying to everyone, "You matter in this world."

I found this on Pinterest, a very interesting place to find all manner of things that people have gathered from the internet and stored in one place to share. Someone took the time to grab some brightly coloured chalk and make a beautiful message on the sidewalk to share with all who pass by. It certainly brought a smile to my face, which is why I have decided to make a whole blog post about it. Yes, the simplest things really do make all the difference!!

Having a Holiday!!

I decided it was time for a little break away from my patch of the woods, it's been a big year!! So I booked myself a flight to visit my fab friends in Melbourne!! Yesterday was the big day and my legend of a son drove me the two hours it takes us to get to the airport. Silly me had said to him, "Just drop me off up the top, then you won't have to park and come in with me." Famous last words!!

Got myself into the bag drop queue, as I had already picked my seat and printed my boarding pass the day before, only to be told, "You know your flight has been cancelled don't you??" Thought to myself, well if I knew that, do you really think I would be standing here??? A few other things crossed my mind as well, but we won't go there!

After much um-ing, aa-ing and mumbling, the nice young man finally found me a seat on another flight four and a half hours later. Not a great way to start your holiday, but what could I do? After eating, drinking, looking and shopping as much as I could bear, I sat myself in a seat and tried to make the next three and a half hours disappear fast with a book and some crosswords. Wasn't totally successful, but finally I heard that boarding call I had been waiting for, and my heart went YAY!!

The Lion Whisperer - OMG Amazing

On the weekend someone sent me an email full of amazing images of a bloke hugging lions. Being the big feline fanatic that I am, this of course appealed enormously and I was left sitting ooh-ing and aah-ing for the better part of an hour. I was sure the universe had got us mixed up, he was having MY dream job!!! I'm pretty sure that should have been me, me, me playing with the big kitties!!

This coming week I would like to present a 'crystal focus'. We have long been fascinated with these beautiful forms growing within the earth. We have used them to pass healing and create magick, adorned ourselves and our homes with them from the beginning of time. If there is a particular crystal you would like me to write about just leave a comment and I will see what I can come up with.

I have previously written about one my all-time favourites, Moldavite - technically not a crystal?? But rather a tektite, still, if it is mysterious and has even the slightest hint of a twinkle, we tend to bundle them under the crystal heading. Some of my other faves are the stunning Aura Quartz crystals and Andaras, so I will start there and we will go for a wander down crystal lane to see what we can discover throughout the week.

Today is also the last day of our full on 'positive affirmation' week!! I have made a page of it's own for all the affirmations so they can be easily found if you are in need of a quick burst of positivity. I will work at creating one every week and continuing on with the list.

I have had a great week, feeling inspired and enthused and the beach visit was a fantastic end to it. The last affirmation is on a photo of the Normanville beach where we discovered most of our sea glass. Hope you have also had a wonderful, fully charged, positive week!! Hunting for Sea Glass

We had a fantastic time treasure hunting along the South Australian coastline this weekend. I was on the lookout for sea glass, which I have never found before. Mind you I have never really looked for it and I guess this makes all the difference to the 'discovering' aspect doesn't it? Most of the pieces are quite small, and scattered in amongst some of the beaches filled with pebbles, it was quite amazing we even found any. There was a ton of amber almost (slight exaggeration I know) Australia is the home of the brown beer bottle afterall!! But we found some beautiful sea foams and frosty whites, even found a tiny piece of Willow Pattern pottery. I fairly leapt into the air with that fantastic find.

I have been quite fascinated with sea glass lately, the colourful remnants invoke visions of epic journeys and faraway lands. Obviously it is calling me to do something creative with it, or maybe just the sea is calling me?? We did find a few pieces that are of jewellery quality, so I might try and come up with some gorgeous mermaid inspired pieces. I do love wandering the beach looking for sea treasures and can spend hours and hours soaking up the serenity. There is something very magickal and soothing about the sea.

This gorgeous creature was sunning himself on the beach at Kangaroo island. Husband and I had a wonderful trip there before he left for Antarctica. He really looks like he is soaking up the positive rays of abundance doesn't he?? Full of self-confidence and happy happy happy.

If you are wondering why things might be moving along a bit slow today, read on!! There is a massive blackout to stop the anti-piracy censorship bill from being passed in the US.

"Wednesday, Jan. 18: the day of the SOPA "blackout" protest. As you may have seen from our coverage, major names in the online world such as Google, Wikipedia, Mozilla and Reddit are censoring their own websites with black bars and blacked-out pages in protest of SOPA and PIPA, two online anti-piracy bills currently under consideration on Capitol Hill.
Lawmakers who support the bills say the Stop Online Piracy Act and the Protect Intellectual Property Act will protect the intellectual property rights of music, movie and TV studios. But the websites and tech giants taking part in the Wednesday blackout argue that SOPA and PIPA would allow for a censoring of the Internet that would forever alter the Web and what we can do, say and publish online.
