Paul Schmelzer, on the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota’s “Off Center” blog, has an item up related to Shoefiti called Soundfiti, where people throw sets of solar powered speakers connected by electrical wire over power lines.

TuttiFreshy has some cool shoefiti paintings, and a solid Johnny Cash / Eazy E mashup on his site. He also takes on shoefiti theories:

A shoefiti artist will wait until the middle of the night to fling a pair of tied shoes over a low-hanging utility wire. With any luck, the shoes will wrap themselves over the wire and remain there indefinitely. It becomes a kind of piece of art & a symbol of passage.

It’s a mysterious part of the hip hop movement that I found funny and interesting. I was told that if you see some shoefiti in a neighborhood, you should have some drug dealers in the area too

via @woodandleather on Twitter, who’s bio says they are based in Finland and Lebanon. This looks a lot more like Lebanon than Finland, but could be elsewhere. Perhaps on Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles, California.

Melbourne Shoefiti: Schoolies?

Tania from the blog Myrtle and Eunice snapped a few pictures of shoefiti in Melbourne Australia in December, and offered some thoughts on who she thinks may be behind those shoes hanging from a wire down under. No, she doesn’t think this is drug related:
