This site is of huge historical importance as the archaeological discoveries give scholars a pretty clear picture of how ancient societies in the Yayoi Period (300 BC to 300 AD) developed throughout this time. It is also said to be one of the political centers for the founding of the nation state that is modern day Japan.
Definately worth a visit if you’re coming to or living in West Japan.

Initially it was slated to be an industrial area until the ruins were discovered and was instead studied and excavated extensively, then opened for the public to enjoy from 2001.

The whole area of Yoshinogari is actually 56 hectares. It’s a great place for picnics, outdoor games and plenty of room for kids to run around.

Check out this pseudo theme park situated in the countryside of Saga Prefecture. It’s designed in the style of a Southern French village. Families flock here during the summer as there’s lots of space for children to play and farm style attractions to keep everyone occupied.
For many visitors, who are mostly from the city, it’s a chance to get out into the countryside and relax in more tranquil surroundings and have a chance to come in close contact with animals and nature.
