Heeeeey!!!! its been a while..., and typin' on the computer is not one of my favorite task assignments, but Welcome to 2020!!! we are looking to update the shovelhead website of the next couple of months... we also have a new SHOVELHEAD Band HTFD/SPFLD Group page on facebook..., scope it out when ya get a chance...., we just did the Springfield Motorcycel show at the Big E in West Springfield MA in January... The band is working on recording a new original music CD over the next couple of winter months... adding new material from Mark & Dave.. including our "Got banged up drinkin' whiskey" song which we have been performing out at events.

We are heading to the Catskills in April for Motorcycle Mayhem at the Blackthorne Resort on April 18th with special guest Steve O on bass! we will also be back there June 6th and for Catskill Mountain Thunder Sept18th and 19th..., we always have a blast up there...,

Bike nights coming up this year... starting off at the Farm at Carter Hill May 1st in Marlborough CT awesome venue and some great roads to ride to get there... A new place for us up in South Deerfield MA the 1st dawn Yankee BBQ on June 3rd..., Destination Bike Night at Southampton HD on Aug 6th...,

Sonny's Place in somers CT is a great venue that really packs 'em in... we have 2 shows there June 14th and Aug 16th....

Laconia Bike week we will be at Tower Hill Tavern June 17th,and are looking to fill in a few more dates during bike week before we ride up to Bentlys saloon in Maine for June 19 and 20

July we are at the Tank American legion in Feeding hills MA, No more silence Motorcycle ride July 25 and working on dialing in details for the Annual Combat Vets MC ride ( tentative July 19th)

we got a handfull of irons in the fire for other gigs coming up this spring summer and fall..., and will post once confirmed!!!

in the meantime, if ya get cabin fevered..., Dave & AJ are doing an acoustic jam at Bond 124 in somers CT on Feb 16th show starts around 7ish after the Daytona 500 race on Fox, of course!!

hope to see ya out at the shows!! and once ridin' season gets here out on 2 wheels !!

Coming up this June..., SHOVELHEAD will be cranking out the tunes on the deck overlooking lake Congamond on Sunday June 11th!!! check us out at Crabby Joes' in Southwick MA.. 3 pm ...,

On the 16th of June, we are motoring up to Bentleys saloon in Arundel Maine... Laconia Bike week is happeingin and a lot of riders take the scenic jaunt over to Bentleys during bike week!!! Lots going other... SHOVELHEAD will be jamming 4-8 p,m on Fri June 16th...

June 29th ( thurs) brings us to Destination Bike Night at the American Legion on Rt 5 in Enfield CT..., 6-10 pm      last time we played there was jam packed!!!!! scope out Throttle rocker magazine for more details, and info on all their destination bike nights this summer!!!

Sunday May 21st we will be at the 2nd Annual Paulie's Run in Meriden CT. end of ride is at The Quality Time Café in Meriden, CT. SHOVELHEAD hits the stage at 1:30    Jeff Pitchell & Texas Flood at 4... and a special surprise band sandwhiched in between!!! food, raffles, including a 2017 Harley!!!   details on the gig calendar page....

Thursday May 25th   Bike Night out at LV's House of Boost in Stafford CT..   Dyno Shoot outs!! food Drink and SHOVELHEAD live...6-10    ya don't want to miss this event!!!!

The band is taking memorial day weekend off to go do a little riding...., but scope out the calendar cuz we some very cool gigs coming up in June and July, and beyond out till October!!

Welcome to 2017!!!! SHOVELHEAD will be kicking off the year at The Springfield Motorcycle Show at The Big E on Jan 21 and 22..., event starts at 10 am both days ( Sat & Sun) before ya know it this pesky winter will be over and when tee shirt weather hits...., Shovelhead will emerge from its wintrery hibernation and start cranking up the tunes.... working on rewiring the old 78 shovelhead and some front end work on the ultra... perfect time to get that done.., we have shows posted on our calendar, and will posting more as they come rolling in... looking forward to ridin' and jammin'.....,

Still got plenty of great riding weather ahead of us!!! Fall in New England is one of the best times to ride. we got a slew of shows coming up this fall... Crabby Joes outside party on the deck coming up on Sept 11th.. always a good time sitting by the lake... we will also be remembering all those who perished in the 9-11 attacks on the 15th anniversary.   15 years !!

Catskill mountain Thunder is right around the corner... we will be heading up Thursday Sept 15th SHOVELHEAD will be rocking out in the nightclub Thurs Fri and Sat..    this year the headliner is the legendary Blue Oyster Cult... Awesome band!! to this day, the best concert I have ever seen. ( back when I was stationed in Germany in the late 70's)

If you've never been to CMT ya really need to check it out!!! non stop entertainment and fun!!! if ya have been there, ya know what I'm talkin' about.   Also on the bill this year is KASHMIR   a kick ass Zepplin band! there will be several other bands performing all weekend too!

   We will be at the Big E in west Spfld on Connecticut day! then we have a gig at Gengras HD and The Shamrock café to finish off the month!! details on our show schedule page...,

and, scope out our schedule for October as well..., we got some cool venues coming up there!!

The nice hot steamy weather is upon us and I am lovin' it!!!!   we have a long awaited Crabby Joes Gig coming up Sunday July 24th at 3 p.m. great place to go on a nice hot summer day, kick back on the deck overlooking lake congamond,   grab a bite to eat and some ice cold drinks and listen to some jammin' music with SHOVELHEAD....   we always get a great crowd out at Crabby Joes...,
we have a repeat performance scheduled for Aug 14th also.... make it out for some summer fun....

Aug 4th SHOVELHEAD will be doing Destination Bike Night at VFW Post 80 on Enfield Street in Enfield CT.   the adventure starts at 6 pm.    hey, weren't we just jamming down Enfield street in The Town of Enfield Independence Day parade?   oh yea... that was a blast...   the 18th of Aug brings us back to the Waterfront Café in Holyoke for their bike night event series!!

And don't forget Catskill Mountain Thunder in September with SHOVELHEAD, KASHMIR AND BLUE OYSTER CULT   as well as a slew of other bands, events,  fireworks..., a premier Motorcycle event.

and we are working on doing another parade jam at the BIG E   stay tuned for details...

we still got plenty of Summer left, check our calendar schedule for all out gigs up till October, where we will top it off with a show at Tommy's Tattoo Convention in Hartford CT.

Summertime Shoveltime...

June has been a fun month!! we had a blast up at Bentleys Saloon for a 2 day adventure!!!!   June 17th and 18th!! Saturday was crazy thousands of bikes as we jammed out on the outside stage... Our good friend Ron Jones was jammin' acoustic music inside the bar...    had a great ride up on my softail deluxe along with Frenchy, and friends... came up RT 202     very scenic...

The next weekend we were at the Annual Catskill Mountain Spring Rally..,   always a blast up there...our home away from home...    Roy led the ride on Saturday with LV (on his custom house of Boost turbo charged monster bike)    prob a hundred bikes in the pack... we all rode up a steep gravel fire rode to the top of one of the Catskills many mountains... awesome views... a bit of a dusty trail to ride up and down on, and we looked like coal miners after that adventure...   Lot of pics and video coming from this adventure... scope out www.ridewithdirk.com   to eyeball it...   not sure how Dirk does it... camera in one hand, beer in the other hand and motorcycle in the other hand?

had a great time in the Blackthornes nightclub fri and sat night Shovelhead cranking out southern and classic rock. we look fwd to heading back to the Catskills in September for the Main event!!!

Coming up we are looking at doing a Shovelhead Jam in The Enfield Independence Day Parade on July 9th.., with Tommys Tattoo supplies towing us on a flatbed trailer.... untikl then..., ride safe! see ya out on the road perhaps.... and rock on.....,

Spring is here !!! and we are ready for some outdoor shows!!   coming up May 1st Shamrock Café party in Suffield.. Shovelhead will be crankin' it up on the outside stage....   sunday afternoon!!!

Then May 7th we will be up at Southampton Harley in MA. for a Saturday afternoon jam.... Then on May 14th   we will be up at Mount Snow in Dover Vermont for The Mothers for Daughters Benefit Motorcycle Run and event!!

Was out and about on the sidecar Harley, and picked up some parts for my 78 Shovelhead FX at the Stafford Motor Speedway Spring swap meet..    ran into a lot of friends up there...., LV was there with his house of Boost, Ron Jones jamming;' acoustic guitar, Sick Boy had their full trailer set up, the trantolo girls, lots of vendors...,great people, great turn out!

got a slew of shows coming up in June,   waterfront café in Holyoke, Crabby Joes in Southwick, TSI Harley Davidson in Ellington, The Annual SHOCKERS show at their secret lair in Belchertown... then up to Bentleys in Maine for a two day, couple of shows adventure..., and to our home away from home The Blackthorne Resort in upstate NY for the Catskill Mountain Thunder Spring Motorcycle Rally....

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! Welcome to 2016!!!! SHOVELHEAD will be kicking off the season at The Springfield Motorcycle show at The Big E Jan 16th and 17th!! we will also have a SHOVELHEAD booth set up, so come and visit!!! The new Shovelhead shirts are in!! and we still have a sfew Shovelhead patches left. we will be located next to Hermis Internet Entertainment and LV's House of Boost.... links to the motorcycle show and events are on our Gig dates page.

we are just gearing up for the upcoming spring, summer and fall gigs ..., Catskill Mountain Thunder events, in April, June and September..., Bentleys Saloon in Maine. and are working on festivals, Motorcycle rides, and events to fill up the calendar for the year!

The marshalls are all tubed up and ready to rock!! Jimmy had had his bass amp rig tuned up, so prepare for some serious thumpin' AJ 's working on an endorsement deal for drum sticks..., which may conflict with his stint as a hair care spokesmodel, but...., details coming soon.....,

Our good friend Pete Alva is in final production of his feature length motion picture aptly titled "The Biker Movie.".., SHOVELHEAD appears in the flick, and two of our original songs are featured. scope out the Biker Movie on facebook! it was a fairly mild winter so far, and I got to take the 78 shovelhead out for a few rides in Nov and Dec. .... looking forward to a banner year of some good 2 wheel therapy ridin' and rockin' out with our fans...,

Come on out to the Big E..., Hermis will be filming for his TV show..., Shovelhead jammin' on the main stage.., lots of vendors, displays and bikery stuff will be happening!

SUMMERTIME SHOVELTIME!!!
Laconia bike week coming up and SHOVELHEAD will be performing at Juniors Crush house on RT 11 in Gilford NH on Thursday June 18th.... this is a great party place during bike week and only 4 miles from Weirs Beach... 8 pm showtime....

Follow us up to Maine where we will be jamming at Bentleys saloon on RT 1 in Arundel Maine..., a mere 70 miles east of laconia... an awesome ride to boot.... I will be motoring up there on the Harley, the rest of the boys will be in the Shovelhead tour bus... AJ, will be floating around on his newly rebullt scoot. (compliments of Butchers mechanical expertise!) Bentleys is Friday June 19th 8 pm and then Saturday June 20th 2pm always a blast at Bentleys...

Got my 78 Shovelhead FXS back on the road today.... been dormant for a couple of years, but slapped a new clutch in it... tightened all the nuts and bolts and took it out for a blast.... plan on riding it up to the Catskills on June 26th... (leave the gas and go softail at home) we will be performing Fri and Sat June 26 and 27 at The Blackthorne Resort for The Catskill Mountain Thunder Spring Rally.... Our home away from home!!!

We will be back at the Blackthorne in September fot the Huge Catskill Mountain Thunder Main Event with The Georgia Sattelies and The Artemus Pyle Band... If you havent been to CMT yet...., you dont know what your missing!!! Got some cool gigs coming up in July too! stay tuned....

AJ and Walt (our sound tech) are out riding today with our friends Rob and Shelly.... After I tweak the carb on the Shovel I'll see If I can track them down.... Connecticut is not a huge state and shouldnt be too hard to find them.....

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all from the Band!!! we are taking a little time off for the holidays and will be working on some new SHOVELHEAD original music over the winter months.... We are gearing up for spring ,summer and beyond for shovelhead shows for 2015.... as soon as the bookings are set, we will post.

Just before Christmas My cousin Tommy Savage passed away after a courageous battle with cancer.
he will be missed by everyone who knew him.. To all of Tommy's family, the savage brothers band..., and his many,many friends...., our deepest condolences....

SHOVELHEAD in October.... We will be jamming out under the pavillion at the Summit View in Holyoke Ma. on Friday Oct 10th show starts around 6pm... great venue...Food, beer, live music...Dont miss it!

Then on Sunday October 19th we will rocking out the afternoon at the Shamrock Cafe in Suffield Ct for the last sunday afternoon outdoor concert series for the season always a blast at the rock... 2 pm show time....

Congrats to Our Bass player Jim's daughter (Abby) who got married on Oct 3rd!!! was a great time at the wedding!

SEPTEMBER was a Blast!!! We had a fantastic time at CATSKILL MOUNTAIN THUNDER at the Blackthorne Resort in upstate New York on Sept 11 thru Sept 14... We were rockin' out in the bar to a packed house along with our friends the old news band!!! Marshall tucker band on Friday and Foghat on Saturday! non stop music all weekend... we even blew up our sound board (literally smokin') and one of our 18" JBL sub woofers.. and we couldnt even blame it on Mikey!!! EPIC!!!

Had a great ride up in the side car Harely up thru RT 44 in CT to rt 7 then out Rt 23 into NY over the infamous Rip Van Winkle Bridge... and as usual Roy and Dale put on a phenomenal ride thru the catskill mountains on the Friday Breakfast run.... Catskill Mountain Thunder is a great event... arial burnouts! spaghetti wrestling! Bike build off!! Ron Finch was there with his Amazing creations including LV's "Switchblade" custom... have to see it to believe it!

we also play up there in April for Motorcycle Mayhem and in June for the annual spring run...

We teamed up with our friends Mike and Cindy from Brickenmore and Tommys tattoo supplies to do a double show at the Big E on Sept 17th what a riot!! shovelhead cranking out ZZ Top and Skynyrd in the back of Mikes '72 Flatbed Ford in the 5 pm parade... we were right in the mix with marching bands, the roller derby girls and even the Budweiser Clydesdale horse drawn beer wagon!!
thanks to our sponsors Brickenmore and tommys tattoo supplies we tossed out hundreds of Brickenmore firestarter kits with a collector series shovelhead card as well as a ton of Connecticut day Shovelhead tee shirts... at 8:30 we took the stage at the Connecticut building and rocked the Avenue of States!

Sat Sept 20th The boys in the band piled in the SHOVELHEAD tour bus while Dave ripped down to New London on his Harley, for the 1st annual Buddys ride at Mikes Famous Harley Davidson... We hit the stage and cranked out some good ol' Southern and classic rock... Physical Graffitti ripped out some classic Zepplin... and Jeff Pitchell finished off the afternoon with his amazing blues guitar work..,

We got a few gigs coming up in October Summit view on the 10th and the final outdoor concert series at the Shamrock Cafe on the 19th....

we are already gearing up for some big shows next year... we have had the opportunity play venues with some legendary bands... 38 special- Marshall Tucker Band- Molly Hatchet- Blackfoot- Foghat-Jackyl- Lee Rocker- Artimus Pyle - the Blue Lords- and A special show we did in Boston with "The Big Ball Stars" featuring guitarists from Alice Cooper Band,Wasp, survivor, Jani Lane (RIP) from warrant, Dizzy Reed of Guns N Roses and more!! tons of fun I have to say!

We are eyeballin' setting up some big shows for next year, so stay tuned....

SHOVELHEAD will be playing thursday , friday and saturday Sept 11-12-13 but the whole event goes on from wednesday to Sunday starting with a pub crawl from the Blacktorne Resort Nightclub on Wednesday, to a pig roast on sunday!! This years headliner bands at Catskill Mountain Thunder will be The Marshall Tucker Band and Foghat!!! Gonna be an awesome time!!!
Ariel Burnouts! Biker build offs and bike show! Entertainment all thru the event. awesome food, Biker rodeo, vendors, the wall of death, stunt riders, fireworks..., and a whole lot more!!! and of course...MIKEY!!!!

SHOVELHEAD SEPTEMBER!!!
We had a blast as usual up in the Catskill Mountains for Catskill Mountain Thunder!!! Kicked off the thursday night jamming in the Blackthorne Nightclub...always a blast!!
Shared the main stage out back with Lee Rocker and Jackyl Fri and Sat..., Pat Travers band was awesome rocking
the Blackthorne Nightclub to a packed audience on Sat night... Also this year The Blue Lords were there rocking out!!
great band , great people... they do a lot of huge shows including the Legends of Rock Cruise..., with the likes of Skynyrd, ZZ Top, 38 special!!
   Rode the scoot up on thursday to a bit of rain, but it cleared up for the remainder of the weekend.. AJ had his bike also, and we went on the Catskill Mountain thunder breakfast ride..., Nice tour Roy!!!
Lots of good friends old and new at Catskill Mountain Thunder...!! Mikey the voice of Catskill Mountain thunder was everywhere!! all at the same time!! A new act this year, "Bag Lady Sue" was hilarious!! Shared a campfire with some new friends from Long Island, Ron Finch and all the bike builders there had some awesome machines. there is so much going on at Catskill Mountain Thunder, if you havent been there yet.., you need to go!!!
   Rode back on Sunday with Rob and Shelly, took the nice scenic route back thru rt 23 in NY to Rt 41 cutting thru MA into salisbury Ct then down Rt 44 and cut thru Barkhampsted and ended up at the Shamrock Cafe!! isn't that where snake lives?

Coming up in October, we have the CT Trees of Honor Benefit ... concert with Arizona Maid Band, Johnny Six Gun and Shovelhead... scope out our shovelhead calendar for details...
Oct 6th we are out on lake congamond for Crabby Joes Annual End of Summer Pig Roast and then on Oct 13th we are jamming at the Shamrock Cafe!!!

And dont forget our resident 10 year old AJ's birthday is coming up the end of October... heard a rumor there could be an impromptu Shovelhead Jam there!!!

Shovelhead will be cranking out some southern rock at the "Channel 3 kids camp Ride" on Sunday July 14th. The ride starts at TSI Harley Davidson on Rt 83 in Ellington. and ends at Sun Valley beach Club in Stafford Ct. We go on at 1pm and then the legendary Marshall Tucker Band goes on at 3!

We did a show with the Marshall Tucker Band and The Outlaws last September at Catskill Mountain Thunder in up state New York!!! they put on a great show!!!

Coming up on Sunday July 21st...SHOVELHEAD will be at the 3rd annual Ride for Independence
for the Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation... This is a great ride, I have rode on this ride, the past couple of years... it is a very scenic ,well escorted ride, with great food and, of course SHOVELHEAD!!

also coming up in July, the annual Renegade Pigs MC Pig Roast in South Meriden CT. we have been playing this event for the past several years and it is an awesome event!

September also brings us Catskill Mountain Thunder !! this year we will be sharing the stage with "The Pat Travers Band" and "Jackel"... huge event!!!!

October 5th is the "Connecticut Trees of Honor Memorial Benefit" to honor Connecticuts fallen from Iraq and Afghanistan. The event will be at the Italian/american Club in Middletown CT.

Hey SHOVELHEAD fans.... been a while, we took a little time off after a busy spring,summer and fall touring. Our first gig of 2013 is coming up on Saturday January 19 2013. We will be at the Springfield Motorcycle Show at the Big E 1305 Memorial Ave West Springfield,Ma.

we will be there with our good friends from the band "Bad Habit" and also the band "man the Builder".

Ron Finch Master bike builder will be at the Motorcycle show..., we Do our annual Catskill Mountain Thunder Motorcycle festival with Ron every September..., along with a lot of other great bike builders, including Rich Pitoniak Custom Cycles out of Chicopee, ma..

That Saturday night, (jan 19th we will be heading over to "The Southwick Inn" Rt 10 & 202 in Southwick Ma. for a nighttime show too!)

Good morning, Shovelhead has been off the last weekend but we are ready to kick ass this weekend.
We are heading to South Meridian for the annual Renegade Pigs. Shovelhead has been doing this gig for the past seven years and we love to rock the American Hall. All the information is on the web site and if you do need any more information please feel free to call Shovelhead Management for all updates.
August 5th we go back to rock the Shamrock. This is another venue that Shovelhead loves to play then also in August back at Crabby Joe's.
Shovelhead is gearing up for The Blackthrone Catskill Mountain Thunder. Remember we will be opening for The Outlaws and Marshall Tucker. From what I'm finding out the rooms are sold out. If you still want to go call the Blackthrone and put your name on the cancel list, we hope this will work for you. Well until then ride hard and be safe.

Summer is in Full Swing

Summer is in full swing, and Shovelhead has been on the prowl, jamming out at all our favorite places!

We had a blast up in Maine and in the Catskills for a northern mini tour with the Shovelhead tour bus… Dave rode his Harley up to Maine where we rocked out at Bentleys Saloon, in-between sets they had the photo shoot for the Bentleys Saloon Poster girl happening…,   bonus!!! Then we hit Irontails bar for a gig rounding out our Maine weekend…,
Kenny from Massachusetts was up there amblin’ around on his bike and happened upon us at Bentleys, then hung out with the band for the rest of the weekend.. as the boys in the band piled in the tour bus for the ride home, Dave and Kenny pointed the bikes towards the back roads and snaked our way thru Maine, New Hampshire into Mass, and then finally back into Connecticut. Awesome riding!!! The next weekend, AJ and Dave hooked up with the Catskill Mountain Thunder boys and some of our friends from the Shamrock Café for a very interesting motorcycle ride to our gig in upstate NY. We had 15 bikes head out from the rock out thru some scenic northern Connecticut backroads…Caught a little bit of rain on the outskirts of some nasty thunderstorms, and just missed a real intense hail storm wind event in Hudson NY…,power lines, tree limbs and branches down, some flooding, cats and dogs living together…total anarchy!!! Luck was on our side, the skies cleared and we had a fantastic weekend at the   Blackthorne resort…Thanks Dale and Roy for another excellent event!!!

Mikey, the voice of Catskill Mountain thunder has been traveling and hanging with the band since early spring!! It’s a treat having him interact with the audience inbetween sets..
Ichobod’s in Chicopee held a memorial poker run, with a few hundred bikes and Shovelhead rocked the evening for the after party! Greatfood, great people ,awesome time!! We will be back there in September!

We got some cool venues coming up this summer into fall…, Renegade Pigs annual pig roast, the end of July is always an awesome party!! The Shamrock Café and Crabby Joes are always jam packed fun filled adventures!!! We will be at the Waterfront in Holyoke in August.., we jammed there years ago for a few of the Brightside Toy Run after partys.. great to be going back there again!
In September we will be out in the street for the 3rd Annual Torrington Thunder Bike night! Then we will head back to the Catskills for our big show of the year… Catskill Mountain Thunder at the Blackthorne Resort in East Durham NY… This year we will be up there rocking with the likes of “The Marshall Tucker Band” “the Outlaws” and “Artimus Pyle ” Lynyrd Skynyrds original drummer!!! If you haven’t been to Catskill Mountain Thunder yet, you need to check this out!!!!!!!!
Morey Sline, our sleazy booking agent and band manger has pulled the Grinch out of his ass and is once again socially interactive enough to intermingle with other humans… just don’t look him directly in the eye, when he’s running the sound board…., Har,har,har!!!

he is booking machine though! He’s working on getting us some great gigs to fill up the calendar! Go Morey!!

Special thanks to Mr. & Mrs. Maddog for all their help and support of the band…, and to Walt our supercharged pit crew roadie!!

Shovelhead Rocker - July 5th

Good morning to everyone and I hope that your 4th was good. Let me get you caught up with Shovelhead.

Last month we kicked ass in Maine at Bentley's and The Irontail Saloon. Bentley's was jamb pack I do believe that it was the best weekend we ever had. Shovelhead would like to thank Bentley' and Lisa for a wonderful weekend.

Then we headed to New York to the Catskills. We rocked the weekend there also. If you have never been to the Catskills you might want to book a room and join us. Remember in Sept we will be opening for The Outlaws and Marshall Tucker Band. Also Artimus Pyle formally of the Lynyrd Skynyrd Band will be playing in the bar Friday and Saturday.

OK lets get caught up on this weekend. Shovelhead heads to Southwick Ma to Crabby Joe's on Sunday July 8th. Shovelhead Management has been in contact with Joe Fury from Fox 61 and he said GREAT weekend 85 to 90 so we will be on the deck outside.
