Sunny Deol’s son Karan to debut in Yash Raj film

Actor Sunny Deol’s son 21-year-old son Karan will soon debut in a Yash Raj project. “Aditya Chopra expressed his desire to launch Karan and a deal has been cracked. Karan is not bound by contract and will feature in one film, unlike other newbies who have to sign a three-film deal,” a source told a Mumbai tabloid. Sunny fell out with Yash Chopra after Darr (1993), but that’s a closed chapter now.

Mala Sinha refuses to accept Dadasaheb Phalke award

Yesteryears actress Mala Sinha, who has been selected for the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Academy Awards, is reportedly miffed with the committee responsible for giving Dadasaheb Phalke Awards. The actress is furious over the fact that her name is missing from the invitation card. While the card has names of all other winners- Asha Bhosle, Pam Chopra (who is to receive the award on behalf of her late husband Yash Chopra and late superstar Rajesh Khanna, her name is missing despite her glorious career in Bollywood.

If sources are to be believed the actress is very insulted by this and has refused to receive the award. Mala Sinha, applauded for her beauty and talent, has delivered several hits like Pyaasa (1957), Dhool Ka Phool (1959), Dil Tera Deewana (1962), Gumrah (1963), Himalaya Ki God Mein (1965) and Aankhen (1968).

I’ve evolved as an actor: Ayushmann Khurrana

Nautanki Saala opened to a mixed response, but actor Ayushmann Khurrana, who made a roaring debut with Vicky Donor, is unperturbed as he believes he has “evolved as an actor”. “I think I’ve evolved as an actor. My performance was appreciated. People are saying I am not a one-film wonder. That’s the best part of being in this film,” said Ayushmann.

“Some people presumed I was just being myself in Vicky Donor, a Punjabi boy trying to find my bearings in life. I had to work much harder on this character in Nautanki Saala,” he continued. “I had to get into a different skin. And the bromance between me and Kunal Roy Kapoor is immensely liked as well.”“I was lucky to have him as my co-star. Just like Annu Kapoor, who was such a help in Vicky Donor, Kunal gave my character perspective and provided concentrated energy. Beyond that, I never have any expectations from life,” he added. The one good thing that has come out of the Nautanki Saala experience is Ayushmann’s friendship with Kunal.

“He is a terrific guy, and an experienced actor. He has been doing theatre for 15 years, so he’s my senior. He is a very down-to-earth guy,” said Ayushmann. “It was fun working with him. You know, I’ve never experienced any viciousness in the industry, or in my life. That way, I’ve lived a sheltered life.”“During my growing-up years in Chandigarh, or even in Mumbai, I’ve never come across nasty people. I’ve only heard of it but never seen the bad side of the film industry. Of course I was rejected many times in auditions. But I wouldn’t call that rude,” said the 28-year-old.

Today, Ayushmann has acquired the reputation of being picky about his roles. “Every actor has to be careful about the work he does,” Ayushmann said defensively. “I want to make sure the characters that I do give me a chance to broaden my horizon as an actor. But my first two films were quirky. I’d also like to do conventional roles. Every role can’t be out-of-the-box. I’d like to do something in the box now. In fact, the Yash Raj Films’ movie that I am doing with Sonam Kapoor is far more conventional than my first two films,” he said.

Ayushmann’s wife lives in Chandigarh with their one-year old son Virajer. In Mumbai, the actor misses them acutely even as his post-debut film fetches him a fresh crop of accolades. “I do wish my wife Tahira and my son were here with me in Mumbai. But she is doing her Phd in our home town Chandigarh. I don’t get to see my son much. The past year has been the busiest time of my life,” sighs Ayushmann.

Ayushmann visited his wife and son in Chandigarh for three days recently. “I’d love to have them with me permanently. But I’d like my son to grow up in Chandigarh,” he said. Whatever the audience’s response may have been, Ayushmann was thrilled to get his wife’s approval for his performance in Nautanki Saala. “She’s my most honest critic. I constantly try to get a compliment out of her when we’re together. I was thrilled when she saw Nautanki Saala and said I’ve improved as an actor,” he said.

Pakistani model Mathira to do item song in upcoming film

Mathira, a Pakistani beauty whose topless picture on the cover of a fashion magazine caused a furore in her country, is doing an item number in a Punjabi film Young Malang. She was in Chandigarh on Thursday for the shooting of the song. Young Malang that promises to be a perfect concoction of Bollywood and Punjabi cinema artistes is being produced by Rahulinder Singh Sidhu, CEO of RSG Studios.

"Working for the item number was enjoyable and it would help strengthen 'cultural bond' between India and Pakistan," Mathira said. Responding to a question on her controversial past, Mathira said she had not worked to get recognition in a short period of time. "I always challenge the social norms that confine a woman to four walls in the name of social bonds… I walk ahead of the people and keep pace with changing social norms," she said.

Mathira, born to an African father and Pakistani mother, lived in Zimbabwe for about 18 years before settling in Pakistan. She is also a VJ, model and singer. She said she was not a stranger to the camera and claimed that there was a thin line between "being vulgar and being sexy". Her television career started with a programme where she appeared as a yoga instructor.

Prachi Mishra former Miss India Earth doesn't mind joining the politics in future. " I don't know what I might be doing after five years, I may continue with movies or might shift to another field. I am from Allahabad so 'ghar mein aisa atmosphere hai'. Where political discussion are normal, But I have not planned anything as such now. I believe youth should be the part of politics. In future if I get some links in politics I might join it. I feel I have the quality of a good leader" she shares with a smile. Prachi is awaiting the release of her first Bollywood movie 'Zaalim Dilli' scheduled to release in July.

Sherlyn Chopra to sizzle at Cannes with 'KamaSutra 3D'

The second official trailer of KamaSutra 3D will be released at the 66th Cannes International Film Festival. The event will be attended by lead actress Sherlyn Chopra and director Rupesh Paul among others. The film's team has lined up five events, scheduled through the duration of the festival.

On May 15, they will inaugurate the KamaSutra Booth. A new poster will be released on May 18, followed by a new trailer on May 19. The next day, a book, titled Harishchandra To KamaSutra 3D — 100 Years Of Indian Cinema, will be released. A special screening of the uncut version of the first schedule — for selected buyers — will take place on May 21. The team will also announce the movie's worldwide sales rights on May 23.

Says director Rupesh, who feels India should have been better prepared for the festival, "Though the festival committee is honoring 100 years of Indian Cinema, not a single major Indian studio has responded by announcing something big on such a platform."About his film's participation at Cannes, he says, "This is the best opportunity to promote our film. We're taking it very seriously and trying our best."

Anil Kapoor & beti Sonam in film together for first time

'Bombay Talkies' has several of firsts in it... A unique film which celebrates 100 years of cinema, for the first time brings together four ace directors Karan Johar, Zoya Akhtar, Dibakar Banerjee and Anurag Kashyap. Next it has different top actors giving their presence even for brief roles. Among them is off-screen father and daughter, Anil Kapoor and Sonam for the first time will be part of the same project.

Buzz is that, the makers have shot one special song which brings together most of the top actors and actresses from Bollywood who will be featuring in this song. Among the other actors and actresses, the song will bring together Anil and Sonam Kapoor for the very first time. However it can be noted that Anil and Sonam have already shot a pen commercial together...

Apparently the dashing baap and pretty beti are very excited to be a part of the special song of 'Bombay Talkies'. The song, that is common to the entire film, is expected to play either with the beginning or end credits. While the leading ladies will be dressed in golden-coloured costumes, the men will be dressed in formal tuxedo.

The song will be choreographed by Vaibhavi Merchant and has already created a buzz before its ready. Slated to release on 3rd May, the content of 'Bombay Talkies' has already been quite appreciated and appealing to the audience before its release.

What is your idea of fashion?
I don”t blindly follow fashion trends but wear what I am comfortable with
Who is your favourite fashion designer and which fashion designer would you like to walk the ramp for?

I would like to walk the ramp for Sabyasachi and Manish Arora. Everybody has a distinct style. I recently walked the ramp for Manish Malhotra where I wore an coral lehnga with a bottle green top. Nobody can design Indian clothes better than him. I would love to wear that outfit at a friend”s wedding. I also like Rina Dhaka and Pia Pauro, whose designs are very edgy and funky

Which is your favourite era in Bollywood in terms of fashion?
I love the ”70s fashion comprising the hippie looks, bell bottoms, polka dots. The outfits were so stylish.

Which city is the fashion capital, according to you?
Definitely Paris. It is a paradise for shopaholics. Sometimes I buy stuff and then don”t know what to do with it. Often, I have worn these outfits two years after I bought them.

A film that you loved for its fashion in recent times?
Cocktail had brilliant styling.

Who are your favourite male and female style icons in Bollywood?
Saif Ali Khan has an amazing sense of dressing, which is classy and subtle. Among women, it has to be Kangana Ranaut. She is a friend of mine. That girl has guts, she doesn”t ape anyone in terms of fashion and always gets it right.
