Woops. It's either a sheer coincidence that my last few outfit posts have featured a black top and bright bottoms or it's a sign that I'm getting too obsessed with the combination. I think it's the latter. In my defence, pairing those dull, dark shirts/crops with coloured skirts/shorts allows it to reinvent itself as a contender in your spring/summer wardrobe. Ditch those dark wash skinny jeans and black leggings (shiver) and wander over to the colourful side instead. Check your wardrobes, if you've ever bought something beautifully vivid and loud but was unsure as to how to style it... this is a great alternative!

I received this sheer pearl buttons shirt from my sisters for my 20th birthday and I love it so very much! Now, it comes to no surprise that I like my shirts but I often find them to be unflattering in both real life and photography if they're an oversized fit. This black chiffon number is sheer enough to show off some flesh without having red danger lights flashing furiously at you. It's still stylish and arguably a piece smart enough to wear to work? The dainty pearl collar gives it a girly twist and eliminates the need of a necklace too. Win win.

Now, my general rule of thumb is to only wear one oversized item in an outfit. If I tried it with my top and bottom half, I'd break the balance and end up looking like a deflated balloon. This bright green bodycon skirt is perfect. It's actually my little sister's so imagine my glee (and her dismay) when I realised that I fit into it? Yoink. Bandage skirts and dresses will always get a huge thumbs up from me. It's tight, yes, but it also magically hides those pesky food babies out of sight too. It's an item that will hide a multitude of sins and for that reason, I shall be wearing it forever more. Sorry sis.

What did I say about another crop popping up, ey? I. Am. Obsessed. It's wondrous when it's paired with high-waisted numbers and it doesn't give you those awkward lumps and bumps when you find yourself tucking a long shirt in. It's never attractive and it looks rather weird when you're adjusting it in public.

Excuse the derp face in the pictures, the sun was out in full force. As a bid of giving my black clothing items an excuse to be worn for the summery months, I'm hunting down the ones that checks themselves off my 'versatility' list:

- Can I wear it for all four seasons? Oui.

- Can I wear it from day to night? Si.

- Will it go with both plain jeans, high-waisted bottoms and printed trousers? Ja.

- Can I think of at least 3 outfits to wear it with? Yes, yes, yes.

There we have it.

Bonus points include that it's black lace (a 'rocky' alternative to its feminine lighter counterpart), short sleeved (easy to layer) and it's see through at the back (but not at the front). The best part? It was only £4 in Primark. Hurrah! If you're interested in purchasing one, size up. There isn't any elasticity in the item so unless you want to sport it clinging onto your head when you're trying to change out of it, get it bigger!

This maxi skirt is in one of my favourite colours in the universe: that merge between a coral, salmon, peachy pink. Beaaaautiful. Adult maxis usually transform into a train when it's paired with my short self so when I spied it with my little eye in the New Look teens section for a mere £14.99, I flung it triumphantly into my basket. It's airy, breezy and is quite lovely to wear for wind or shine. For those chillier days, pair it with a pair of opaque tights and people would be none the wiser.

It's definitely something I'm looking forward to wearing in the next month!

Long time no see, I hope you've all been well! I've been swamped under a list of deadlines and personal commitments hence the temporary hiatus with the blog - so sorry! The last weeks of university have been the bane of my life (slightly overdramatic) but the end is nigh, my friends. I only have one more assignment left - hurrah. I am so excited to be able to blog again without having a niggly voice of 'shouldn't you be researching articles for your essay?' nagging me.

This outfit post was actually from my Spring/Summer Evening Outfits video; I often blog about daytime attire but not often the things I'd wear in the evening! I have become overly obsessed with crop tops all of a sudden and it's a phase that won't be leaving anytime soon. Expect to see a few more outfit posts featuring this lovely little number!

For someone with very short legs, wearing crop tops and high-waisted bottoms helps to give off an illusion of an elongated pair of legs. Now, this isn't something I'd say no to. It also hides the problematic area of the lower abs and enhances the curves of the waist too. Anything to hide a food baby, ey?

Now, it's always all too tempting to slip into wearing an monochrome outfit. It's a habit that I'm constantly trying to break out of so alas, let me introduce you to these blue shorts from H&M. They're bright, loud and I love them very much. Cobalt blue is forever on trend no matter the season and the best thing about the colour is that it works for every skin tone. Unlike its cousin, the neon trend, they don't obnoxiously glare out at the world but they're enough to step out in to welcome spring/summer (I'm not in denial, the hot weather will arrive soon).

The white blazer blends the colour palette together and it's now one of my staple items in the wardrobe. It's refreshing and has its own sense of independence about it. All too often, I rely on my black blazer to solve every outfit problem but this one has recently taken its place. It lifts the colours in my clothes and also gives it a twist for the warmer climate. I'm excited to experiment with an all white outfit soon - if there's ever a trend to enhance a non-existant tan, it's this one.

Sheep Thrills

hello!

This is different to my normal outfit posts but I thought I'd brighten up any Monday blues with cute lamb pictures (or baby sheep as I like to call them). What could be better, ey? As it's currently lambing season, Jordan and I recently went to our local farm to have a little look. Now, I'm aware that this is something you do between the age of 3 - 10 (as proven when we were the only two people there without a child) but I had never been before and I was extremely excited to go! :)

This is a bit of a cheesy story but my nickname from Jord has always been 'sheep' (shushi to shu...sheep) and ever since then, I've had some crazy fascination with sheep/lamb/ewe/goats. I just find them to be so cute and I love me some goat singing on YouTube.

It cost £3 to go into the farm and we were surrounded by them! It was sad that they were all stuck in the pens together though but I fed them a bit and gave them a hug. I even climbed into the lamb petting pen at one point with all the kids (much to the parents' amusement) and swiftly left when they started to pee all over the place.

We also witnessed a lamb a few hours after its birth. He/she was trying to stand up and it was adorable! I've fallen in love with them even more now. :)

A Love Affair with Monochrome

Lo and behold, we have another monochrome themed outfit post. I don't think my love affair with black and white attire will be ending anytime soon so I'm embracing this in all its glory. This vertical striped shirt has been deemed as the 'referee' shirt by my boyfriend and other male friends. It's frequently greeted with a 'ey-up, have you just come back from reffing a football/wrestling/other sport (delete as appropriate) match?' which is then met with some awkward laughter... and a sigh.

Whilst I'm all about the stripes, its horizontal sibling does have a great tendency of widening my body which obviously isn't desired. This vertical number hits both the monochrome and striped trend on the head and I've got to say, it's love. The sleeves are made from a soft cotton material whilst the main body is from a silky chiffon. This is ideal as I often find chiffon sleeves to be unflattering in both real life and photography; it flashes back in photos and adds excess bulk to the arms.

The faux leather shorts are now too big for me (can I have a collective boo hoo please? :( ) but I love pairing it with shirts as it stops it from looking too smart: gotta love the slight sheen! The red satchel bag doubles up as a camera bag for my DSLR and it's the perfect pick-me-up companion with this monochrome outfit!

So there we have it!

I'm sure we've all been in this situation before... some more than others (putting my hand up here) - I go through a phase of being a crazy shopping lady, I storm into the high street, buy everything I see and then take a step back a few months later and realised that I've forgotten about most of the items. I'm ready to check myself into shopaholics anonymous.

now, this could either be an excuse or a (good) reason but I travel a lot and as a result, I have to pack a weeks' worth of outfits in a rather stealthy manner. I try to go through my wardrobe wisely ensuring each piece gets its fair share of... being worn.

So when I was invited to be a part of a collab with kmoneykmoneykmoney, TheKalynTheory and frominsidemycloset - I jumped at the chance. The basic idea of it is to only use 7 items (including shoes but excluding accessories) to style 7 outfits for 7 days. It's a lot harder than it seems but it encouraged me to think outside of the box and to try and style each item differently to what I'd normally do.

I love me a good preppy outfit

(Sorry that I've been away from my blog for so long. I've been ill these past few weeks and along with Jordan's 21st/university and work -it all got a bit too hectic. Blog posts will resume in no time at all - bear with me.)

My 'go to' outfits are always ones that fits within the smart casual dress code and my recent Gossip Girl marathon has only reinforced this (minus the designer price tags). It utilises the basics in the wardrobe and it's extremely easy to shove on early in the mornings.

GAP isn't normally a high street store I wander into but after my mum's excitable claims of 'OOH - A 75% SALE!!!' a year ago, I couldn't resist. I found this basic light blue striped shirt for £20 and I knew that it had to come home with me.

It was a shirt.
It was on sale.
They were the only two reasons I needed to justify the purchase.

I paired it with these £5 denim shorts from Primark. They aren't Levi's but they do the job and fit nicely. The denim and blue striped combination means it's a nice twist from my usual monochrome offerings. It's also a lovely way of feeling more 'spring-like' too than having bold blocks of black.

The school blazer is an ancient purchase from H&M many moons ago. It still remains as one of my favourite blazers to date simply because it's so different and easy to wear. The gold crest buttons lifts the piece and adds warmth to the outfit. The white piping detail keeps it looking on trend and emphasise the lapels and cropped shape of the blazer. If you're interested in wearing white blazers but aren't ready to step out in the full thing, this is a great way of introducing it to your wardrobe.

Of course, I had to include my Zara Office City bag with this outfit. What's a preppy outfit without a suitable bag? ;)

I'm 20 and I still love to wear stripes and dungarees

The child in me squealed excitedly when I spotted a range of dungarees (or overalls) in the high street stores. What better way to bring the 80s/90s back this spring/summer than to gallop around in these denim gems? Granted, they're not to everyone's taste but it is a clothing item destined for a lazy summer's day, oui?

Unlike the ones we may have been used to during our toddler years, these ones have been modernised for those who are still a big kid at heart... i.e. me. It's a lot more form fitting, the denim wash is flattering and the structure of it caters better for the feminine body.

Aside from the black bowler hat (essential to look more 'grown-up' and more like Charlie Chaplin) I decided to keep it classic by channeling a nautical/Parisian theme by working with a blue, red and white palette. It's the ultimate colour combination for spring and also a nice comfortable step away from my monochrome obsession.

I'm not the best of friends with horizontal stripes and our relationship is worse if it lands on a day that I feel bloated. Those pesky stripes are usually the culprit for making things worse. However, these dungarees acts as the peace maker. The main body of the top is covered by the denim and helps to separate it into smaller sections.

I'm excited to experiment these with some other shirts/blouses/tops with different cuts. The possibilities are endless and luckily, I have the whole of spring/summer to figure it out!

What I Wore to New Look's Hi Summer Event

On Friday 1st March, I was invited to New Look's Hi Summer event - if you fancy having a peek at their upcoming collection, you can read my post here. I rummaged through my wardrobe with the hopes of finding an outfit and after trying on three blazers, two jackets and a gazillion tops - this was the result.

A monochrome outfit will forever remain as one of my safe bets. I should've donned a rainbow coloured number in honour of the spring/summer event but I was soon coaxed out of that thought and thus, this outfit was born. A b&w outfit talks for itself so I didn't want to detract it away from its natural simplicity but chose to work with the textures of each individual piece instead.

The layered chiffon blouse was a kind gift from my mother and I have a feeling that it'll be one of my favourite pieces in the next few months. The flower cut outs and scalloped edges are very feminine but I love that it's a white blouse as opposed to the more obvious choice of blush pink. The interesting neckline eliminates the need of wearing a statement necklace as it draws the eyes away enough.

I've been reaching for this white blazer a lot recently (my black one is sobbing in the corner of my room, woops) and it's such a refreshing change to my usual choices of outerwear! The change of colour completely transforms the look of the existing items in my wardrobe and it looks even better with an all black outfit (I'll never learn)

As this outfit seems appropriate for a day in the office, I decided to give it a casual twist by wearing my faux leather shorts. I need to hunt down another pair as it's now too big for me! Of course, this fact didn't sink in until the shorts were halfway down my thighs whilst I walking down the broken escalator at Waterloo. D'oh.

Now, I love me a good statement print so I couldn't resist this floral blazer in the Topshop sale for £13.50. In fact, I spotted it from across the store - gasped - ran (well, I walked very quickly towards it) - grabbed it and didn't hesitate to hand over my debit card to the shop assistant. It's perfect for the warmer weather and is a welcome addition to my (already extensive) collection of blazers.

An obsession with outerwear... moi?

This is a very 'marmite' item meaning you'll either be in the 'love it' team or fall into the 'burn it' group. It reminds me of oil pastel paintings and it's very hard not to smile when you see the print. It's loud, colourful, bright and I LOVE it. It's well structured, flattering and very form fitting. Black 'lines' of fabric run inside the arms and down the waist; this gives off the illusion of a much slimmer figure by creating shadows along the areas that may appear otherwise.

Wearing such a vibrant blazer means the rest of the outfit has to be toned down. My white shirt goes along with the classic shirt and blazer ensemble and it also emphasises the vivid colours of the florals. As it's a spring/summer outfit, the white shirt is also a welcome and refreshing change to my usual dark pieces too.

Similarly with the shirt, the bottoms had to be simple too - let me introduce you to my Ralph Lauren jeans from TK Maxx! It was a steal at £39.99 and it's so comfortable, my tights have actually taken a backseat. Coming from someone who lives in skirts and shorts, this is no mean feat!

My obsession with the Zara Office City bag is spiralling out of control but what do you do when it goes with everything? Well, you step back and enjoy it! :)

New Look Say Hi Summer- Spring/Summer 2013

There's nothing better to kick start the mood for summer than a new collection full of clothes and accessories for the warmer weather; New Look's Say Hi Summer event held at their press room on Friday 1st March did exactly that.

The Refuel Room event during London Fashion Week had shown only a preview of what's to arrive in stores; Say Hi Summer showcased a more extensive collection and expanded on each of the trends that will be hitting the high street soon. I have to say... I'm impressed.

Put on your cowgirl boots as denim is revisiting its Western roots. From silver studded collars to checkered shirts, the traditional American cowboy look has been revamped just in time for summer. Yee-ha! Giddy up, partner! We've got to get this wagon train a-movin! (I couldn't resist the Toy Story quote...) Say HI to the 80s/90s throwback as dungarees will be a huge spring/summer '13 trend. Did you rock the trend during your toddler years? Sling on some wedges, a floppy hat and a stripy top to modernise it for 2013!

Tapestry prints, florals and pastels also featured very highly in the collection in the form of maxi skirts, midi dresses, patterned trousers and crop tops. There was a particular navy textured boucle jacket I had my eyes on, rich colours of red and blue ran through it... it was gorgeous and paid an ode to its Middle Eastern inspirations.

New Look's swimwear is all about bright colours. From shocking neons to rainbow aztecs, there's nothing dull about frolicking on the beach this summer. One pieces have also taken on a 'fierce' risk as the king of felines are printed on with waist cut-outs and layers of thick rose gold neck chains. Who said swimming costumes were boring?

If you're a jewellery and accessories lover like me, the colourful array of turquoise pendants, gold/rose gold chokers, neon chains and aztec layered bead necklaces would have had you quivering at the knees. They were all presented inside wooden picture frames and I can see why, it's art.

Bright fluorescent watches and bracelets were showcased, the Hermes-inspired 'LOVE' and 'YOLO' belts were under the spotlights and if you're shopping for chokers this summer... the more spikes, the better.

Trainer wedges seems to have returned for another season but this time, it has a futuristic twist to it. Will you be indulging in the holographic shoes?

The event was Mexican themed and it made me feel oh so summery. There were sombreros, moustache props and maracas to shake (which we did as The Muse TV filmed us all talking about our favourite pieces from the collection. Nachos, burritos, smoked salmon canapes and cocktails were at hand - perfect. :)

I met up with the lovely Allie, Luce and Sophie and after being serenaded by a jingly band outside of Oxford Circus, we arrived at the event and snapped away at the clothes (and of each other... outfit post coming soon!)

It was so nice to see them all again to have a proper chat over American milkshakes and burgers at The Diner ending with a mini shopping trip. Do check out their blogs as you will not be disappointed!

All in all, it was another well-organised and amazing event!

Starry, Starry Night - Paint Your Palette Blue and Grey

It's a well known fact that I often dress head to toe in black; it's slimming, smart and ever so easy to style. However, too much black can be draining so a subtle hint of colour helps to lift the dark hue and stops it from looking too doom and gloom.

I typically pair my shirts with a well structured blazer but I've been experimenting these past few months and I think I've found a new favourite way of wearing them. Layering it underneath sweatshirts and jumpers transforms them from casual loungewear to an outfit smart enough for shopping, university, work or even a lunch date. Okay, the bright-eyed eagle plastered on the black sweatshirt above may not be a shining example of business wear but you get my drift...

Cobalt blue is a colour that always remains on trend and it's easy to see why. The bright colour seems to be appropriate for all four seasons of the year and it's a safe bet that it'll be a popular choice on the clothing rail no matter the weather. I decided to play up the 'starry night' theme going on and combined the shirt with the cosmic eagle (which I've named Buckbeak as an ode to H Pottz) - is it just me or is there an extra twinkle in his eye?

The sweatshirt was a bargain sale buy from Zara for a mere £7.99 and I can't stop wearing it! It's slightly oversized, it's the right length and the material is oh so soft. It's not a piece I'd normally go for but lately, I've been meaning to inject a little 'grunge' to my wardrobe and this was the perfect item to start it off. The khaki ribbed beanie was a winter buy from ASOS and it's a saviour during bad hair days. Win win.

I couldn't resist sneaking in my new Zara Office City bag... it carries everything (the inner Mary Poppins in me welcomed it with open arms) and although it's a smart bag, it goes with casual wear too. If you were thinking of buying it, do it!

Casual Weekend Lounging

It's Saturday - hurrah!

Dig out your most comfortable jeans and put on that cosy cardigan because weekends are made for relaxing and this is where casual wear truly shines. I'm normally a huge fan of the smart casual style: I have countless amounts of shirts, a few too many blazers and enough structured bags to open up my own store. I put my hands up as being a lover of a good 'preppy' outfit.

However, it's lovely to be able to wear something simple without faffing around with collars and lapels. This is not to be confused with lounging around in PJs though - that's strictly reserved for Sundays.

The top is slightly oversized and has a plain crew neck but the lace sets it apart from the other basics in my wardrobe. There isn't anything more feminine than lace; the delicate fabric means it transforms an otherwise boring outfit into one that's slightly more romantic. It adds texture and it's a top that falls into the 'effortlessly chic' category.

The peach cardigan complements the light colour of the lace and works together to create a soft yet girly pairing. I find that knitwear can sometimes be unflattering but three quarter length sleeves definitely makes a difference and suits my body shape a lot more. The hint of the cable-knit pattern helps to break up the mound of fabric and stops it from looking frumpy.

Were light wash jeans made for lounging around? I think so.

These boyfriend jeans are from H&M and I was pleasantly surprised at how comfortable they were when I slipped it on. Although it's a slouchy number, the straight leg is still slightly form fitting and doesn't interfere with the bagginess of the top half.

The bag? Well... it's love.

The neutral colour scheme and gold hardware detailing made it the perfect candidate for this outfit. It was only £12 from Accessorize in the sale and I've grown to be a bit too fond of it... bag lady alert.

Spring Wardrobe Essentials

Spring is nearly upon us; it's time to set aside those winter pieces and to prepare your wardrobe(s) for the warmer months ahead! Pack your thermals away and be ready for a new mix of textures and prints to come out to play.

Spring signifies a new beginning and what better way to show it than to add a splash of colour to your outfits? If you're crying out loud for a break from your neutral attire, loud floral blazers to pastel coloured knitwear will cater to your needs. This season is all about experimenting so don't be afraid to try something a little different! 80s fashion always comes back around and this year, patterned suits have been making a grand reappearance in every fashion lookbook around. Fun is restored back into traditional business wear and it's a trend I can't wait to embrace.

Dressing head to toe in white has been all over the catwalks supported by strong tailoring with structured pieces:

white patterned shirts? check
white accessories? check!

It's a contemporary twist to a classic black outfit and it's refreshing to say the least! Nothing shows that you're confident more than stepping out in all white and plus, it'll emphasise a tan as soon as the sun decides to come back to the UK.

Still not a big fan of the trend?
No fear, monochrome and stripes are going to be HUGE for spring. As an avid wearer of black and white, I'm delightfully adding those pieces back onto my clothing rail...

On the other end of the spectrum, dig out those old toddler photographs of yourself sporting a mushroom haircut as we're going to be revisiting our childhood. Any picture evidence of you wearing dungarees and pinafores shows a fashion forward self - yes, they're back! London Fashion Week and New Look Refuel Room: S/S 2013

On Friday, I attended New Look and The Muse TV's London Fashion Week event: The Refuel Room at the Waldorf Hilton hotel in The Strand. The event was perfectly organised and it did exactly as the name suggested. We were pampered with different beauty treatments from manicures, makeovers, massages to lash extensions and HD brows - it allowed us to refuel from the manic hustle and bustle of Fashion Week!

A selection of New Look's upcoming Spring/Summer 2013 collection was showcased and let me tell you, looking at new clothes with a Bubbleology bubble tea in hand was perfection. Which flavour did I choose?

Mango, of course!

From light rinse to dark wash, denim featured highly in the upcoming collection. Pinafores, dungarees and embellished shorts were also popular so look out for them in your local stores soon - they're perfect for spring and summer! Crop tops, monochrome blouses and patterned trousers were also winners in the collection as well as polka dot and aztec prints! The next season seems to be a lot more feminine and flirty than previous months, lace and florals seemed to have been paired with a variety of fabrics and I love it! I'll be swishing about happily during summer then!

Accessories wise, big choker necklaces and 1920s inspired beaded clutches definitely caught my eye. With The Great Gatsby set to launch in cinemas in the next few months, channel your inner flapper girl with the jewels! Turquoise stones seems to have made a comeback too and will no doubt brighten up any spring/summer outfit.

I also had HD brows done by the lovely girls at iBrowsEtc! They tinted, plucked, tweezed and filled my brows in and banished the two wriggly caterpillars that were previously living on my face. I'm super happy with them and definitely want to keep the eyebrow treatments up!

All in all, it was an amazing event.

I'm back from Disneyland (blog post coming soon!) and I had such an amazing time! I hope you've all been well :)! That aside, Valentine's Day is coming around very soon and if you're stuck for ideas as to what to wear, perhaps this visual scrapbook of my ideal Valentine's day outfit from Fashion World will help! As you know, I love a good versatile clothing item that I can wear to multiple occasions. Valentine's Day is no different - whether it's for a lovely meal out, drinks at a bar, exploring the city by night and/or to a club, this outfit can be worn for your date with your other half or group of friends.

The Claire Sweeney Grecian-style maxi dress is the stand out item in the collection (in my personal opinion!) Paisley print is always a winner - it's feminine without being too feminine. Does that make sense? It has a slight bohemian feel to it and I like it a lot. I can imagine this dress being very appropriate and lovely to wear in the summer whilst walking on the beach in a hot, sunny island......

The black/white biker jackets are part of Claire Sweeney's new collection. These will always be a wardrobe staple and it can easily be thrown on top of anything to give it that 'rocker' edge and it helps to toughen up the dress. Monochrome is going to be HUGE this Spring/Summer and as I couldn't pick between the black or the white, I included both in the scrapbook! The neutral clutch bag goes with everything yet the skull detail offers something different and again, adds an 'edge' to the outfit!

Although the shoes seem summery, the sandals ensures that your feet will be comfortable throughout the night - there will be no stumbling around in heels! They're perfect for the hot weather in a few months time too and the fabric of the dress will keep your tootsies lovely and warm!

hello!

today has been another snowy day and i'm crossing my fingers and toes that it won't disrupt our disneyland trip on Tuesday, wahhh! i don't have an outfit post as today just involved a quick trip into town and Sainsbury's for holiday supplies and a new watch (i have a Toy Watch now- post on that soon, eep!)

i thought i'd post a quick wish list of some of the things that have caught my eye recently! let me know if you would like more of these posts :)

1) with all of this cold weather, i'm looking forward to spring and summer. i just want warm weather now perleaseee! this top is ultra-girly and would look lovely tucked into a pastel/cream coloured skater/a-line skirt! i'd wear a light brown floppy hat and brown sandals with it too.

2) i'm really into sweatshirts right now, they're a great layering piece and are also really comfortable. i love elbow patches and the peace ones on this sweater are a great twist on a basic clothing item!

3) this isn't something i'd usually go for but i think this would look really cute sitting on top of the head and would probably be a good conversation starter.

4) i've seen these headbands popping up on blogs a lot recently and i can't seem to get it out of my mind - they remind me of Lana Del Rey and it'd easily dress up plain dresses/outfits for the spring/summer time. ahhh, want want want.

5) i came across this on eBay and may have squealed a little bit when i realised what it was. they are panda food picks to keep fruit/sandwiches/snacks in place in your lunch box! imagine opening up a lunch box to see smiley pandas looking up at you!

6) as i'm in a disney mood, something disney-related had to make an appearance! i love the design of this and i'd love to layer it over a white shirt too or go with the whole sporty look and pair it with converse/baggy trousers :)

hello!

so... it snowed yesterday in the UK and i had an absolute BLAST of a day! there's nothing quite like drawing back your curtains to be met with a (cliché) winter wonderland - i do love seeing fresh blankets of snow... ready to be stomped in.

i wrapped up very very warm and it was awkward trying to move around but i was so comfortable. i ended up wearing a quilted jacket, three jumpers, a long sleeve top, a vest top, two pairs of tights (one being the thick 'super cosy tights' from Primark) and my aztec peg trousers from ASOS! that's a lot of layers, right? in the first picture - my legs look extra short and stumpy but it's due to the baggy trousers being tucked into the wellies. i haven't shrunk overnight... at least i don't think i have! i did a very good impression of a penguin but for that many layers, it could have looked a lot worse!

i sledged for the first ever time yesterday and it was so much fun! this is going to sound incredibly silly but i usually get really panicky about those sort of things (wimp) because i start imagining a load of horrific scenarios involving broken limbs and the wrong kind of lumps. i was anxious but after seeing so many people do it and with Jordan's encouragement, i just told the anxiety to take a day off and i did it! i want to go again (in fact, i may do today if the snow hasn't turned into slush by this time). i felt even more of a big kid and nearly knocked into a dog and a small girl but no one got hurt and i'm still alive :) i now see what the fuss is about!

afterwards, we all went back to Jordan's house and Jordan, his dad and I went into the hot tub to warm up! IT. WAS. AMAZING. the water was 40C and it felt surreal being surrounded by snow but feeling like you're in the best hot bath in the world, haha. it wasn't actually as cold as i had thought it would have been when we got out either!

all in all, it was an amazing day and i wish it could happen all over again!

it was so lovely seeing everyone with a smile on their face and just all being together :)

if you're in the UK, you will have probably realised that it's snowing today... transport has been disrupted, school has been cancelled and judging from my facebook/twitter feed, some people are a bit grumpy too. boooo. whilst it's at an inconvenient time, i still can't help but have flurries of excitement at the look of it! everything just suddenly becomes magical and peaceful (although the ice after this won't but let's not think about that). i'm all dressed and after lunch, i'm going to attempt to go out and PLAAAAY. we're planning to go in Jordan's hot tub later too, i'm pretty excited! this outfit wouldn't be entirely appropriate as it was taken a few days ago but it can be transformed into two different outfits.

i bought the floral jumper from a vintage shop last year and fell in love with the scallop edge collars, print and the shorter sleeves! although i love knitwear, it doesn't seem to love me and instead chooses to make me look like a chubby marshmallow. it's not a flattering look. however, these sleeves are more fitted and as the rest of my arms are shown, my body shape peeks through and isn't engulfed by the thick fabric.

for the second outfit... i raided Jordan's wardrobe. he has some jewels in there and he quite likes me wearing his baggy jumpers so it's a win-win situation! i spotted this grey speckled jumper with elbow patches and 'yoinked' it. seeing elbow patches on things makes me happy for some strange reason. i also saw the brown satchel bag in the corner and took it out for a spin too. as it's freezing cold outside, it's still possible to layer up without waddling. i simply put the oversized grey jumper over the top of my floral one, put the collars over the top of the round neck and voila! a completely new look.

it has a slight androgynous feel to it and i quite like that both guys and girls can wear this outfit. having a look in your boyfriend's/brother's/dad's wardrobe has its advantages!

i'll try and take some pictures and film an outfit of the day to show you my snow outfit!

i am wearing a jumper but hey.... SNOW ANGEL TIME!

this isn't the outfit that i'm wearing today but the outfit i wore on Monday during the dreaded 4 hour train journey! if you're interested in reading my 4am crazy blog ramblings from that day, you can read it here. i reenacted scenes from Oliver Twist and my fingers turned into icicles. Daily Mail deemed Monday as a terrorising snow day and after reading more and more scary articles, i dashed over to my wardrobe and tried to find a 'snow worthy' outfit. my beloved shirts were a big no-no, my leather trousers wouldn't have been friends with the sludge and my tights laughed in my face before burying themselves deeper into my closet.

aha!

the checkered jacket i bought a few months ago and my grey moose winter jumper stepped forward and proposed a war plan to combat the icy grounds - deal. i found the Superdry jacket from TK Maxx on my birthday in August - it was 50% off marking it down to the sweet, sweet price of £30! i couldn't believe it and i only had to justify it with three reasons:

1) it was burgundy (i do love me some burgundy)

2) it had a big grey hood (big hoods cover my big head)

3) it was on sale

i rushed over to the till and voila! it was mine...

...and then sat in my wardrobe until now.

it's finally cold enough to wear it and i've been layering away happily like a beaver building its dam. i don't think that sounds normal but the image forming in my head seems to make sense so i'll leave it. it's a great piece and i'm finding a use for plain tops/jumpers now! the texture and print is very winter-appropriate and it's also guy approved as i've seen it worn by two men around town. it has a slight 'Bon Iver' feel to it as if i should be in a log cabin gathering up the wood i had chopped up the day before...

i wore my stompy Dr Martens Serena boots and two pairs of socks then trotted off with my suitcase and bag! i always overpack so i did nearly lose a shoulder in the process but all is well now!

either way, i surprisingly like this outfit and it kept me very warm indeed!

as this is another scheduled post, i'll actually be on my second 4 hour train journey of the week by the time you read this! i spend more hours on train journeys than i do asleep but it's all good - they give me the time to just relax and read my book! i'm currently reading 'Little Women' - i bought it from a charity shop a few months ago and it also came with 'The Secret Garden'! i love reading classics, it casts the most amazing images in my head and i like to imagine that i've gone back in time experiencing it with them :)

i'm sorry this blog post is so late! i ended up filming a video and iMovie was being a poop by corrupting my original file so it took up the whole day trying to fix it. if you noticed my ever so stylish grey stripey socks, today was also a lounging around 'editing' kind of day - my favourite!

quick story time:

my mum gave those socks to me last year as well as stuffing half of her wardrobe into my bag. she's the ultimate bargain hunter although it never quite works to her favour... if there's a sale, a radar seems to go off inside her head. she'd whisk over to the shops... come back with several bags... and then leave them in her wardrobe. six months to a year later, they're still there complete with tags.

she's obsessed with stripes and blazers and i mean obsessed. she has two full length wardrobes in her room.. one of them is dedicated to her blazers and she keeps buying more.

'ZARA HAD AN AMAZING SALE - FIVE BLAZERS FOR £50!!!11111!'

i'm not complaining though - i end up going back to uni with a load of new clothes to wear!

back to the post:

i bought this polka dot shirt last week from ASOS for £18 (including student discount) - it's actually from River Island and the RRP is £25 so i'm not too sure why ASOS is selling it for £20! regardless, i'm developing some kind of obsessive relationship with this item of clothing. it's quite worrying. i've never been a 'polka dot' gal but this just called out to me and now i'm dotty for it (i'm sorry, i couldn't resist!)

it's unbelievably comfortable, it's black and white and the buttons are small golden spikes:

*cue angelic hallelujahs*

what's more, i feel like it has a slight 50s feel to it so i decided to wear my MAC rebel lipstick just to make it look slightly more 'glamourous'. this lipstick is also a recent favourite and i can't stop calling it my ribena lips lipstick. if you fancy having some purpley pink lips, this will be your friend!

i raided Jordan's wardrobe and ~~stole~~ borrowed his burgundy cardigan from Topman. he was too busy doing his uni work to notice so i decided to use his grey jumper and satchel bag too (blog post coming on that soon). hehehe. i made up a 'i'm raiding JORRRRDAN'S CLOSET' song and dance whilst exploring and he seemed to quite enjoy that so i think we're even and it's an invitation to wear more of his clothes :)

ALSO!

i took some pictures of the homemade special fried rice we cooked last night! it was so delicious and surprisingly easy!

he just couldn't contain his excitement for spring onion chopping!

hello!

i've arrived here safely and i was glad to change into my comfy PJ bottoms when i arrived! i hope you all had a lovely day yesterday and today - did anyone make any snow men/women/dogs/houses? i ended up making five train journeys and four of them were delayed so cue me searching my train app every ten minutes and rushing around in search for the platforms! my Oliver Twist scenario didn't happen although my fingers, toes and nose were threatening me with emigration if i didn't arrive any time soon.

this is the outfit that i'm wearing today; thank you to Jordan for helping me with the pictures :). does anyone have any tips on posing or am i doomed to look like a overly doughy marshmallow forever more? i feel so awkward posing in front of the camera and i simply can't pull off the 'angry but cool moody' shots other fashion bloggers can do! i hope you're all okay with my toothy grin from time to time!

knitwear is never a flattering option for my body shape, it widens me but it's winter and i need warrrrmth. someone named the shirt as a 'jail break' shirt and i must agree, it definitely reminds me of that haha! for days i don't feel like wearing a 'loud' print as the stand out item but still want to incorporate it into an outfit, wearing it under a jumper is the best option! for those who don't like scoop/round necklines, the shirt collars help to cover it too and transform a plain jumper into something that looks a bit smarter and 'fancier' too. layering doesn't always have to be multiple unflattering pieces piling on top of each other like sardines (although the clothes i wear when i'm lounging around at home begs to differ...)

i must dash - dinner time!

Jordan and I will be attempting to cook a healthy version of special fried rice from scratch tonight - this is the time for my Chinese self to shine so erm... hurry up and arrive please. we've bought king prawns, peas, carrots, rice, pork and spring onions with some green tea on the side too! it's my favourite rice dish, yummmmm.

3:44AM Ramblings: Send Me To A Shirt Rehab!

hello!

by the time you read this, i'll still (hopefully) be on my four hour train journey! it's currently 3:34am and I should probably be sleeping... woops. whenever i get overly tired (but i'm too stubborn to sleep), my subconscious mind starts having a party and thus, things like this blog post is born. it's one of the many reasons why creative writing is the second part of my degree and why i love writing so much. i'm crossing my fingers and toes that it hasn't snowed overnight and even if it has, please don't affect my journey - i'm petrified that i'll be stranded at some random station dragging along a heavy suitcase with only my panda hat on my head to keep me warm. i'll walk up to the train conductor and ask for some of the potato and leek soup they're handing out and bleakly say...

'please sir, i want more...'

(please don't happen, please don't happen)

i need to remind myself to write down some phone numbers on a piece of number if i need to search for a pay phone or ask for assistance! my sister told me i'm always too over prepared but i always imagine dramatic (usually scary/negative) scenarios in my head and think to myself *pack the kitchen sink and put the contents of the fridge in bag* i've been watching a LOT (two seasons in three days, i'm now on the third season) of Downton Abbey and Mr Selfridge so I have the 1909/1920 era going on in my head right now too except that i'd be a working class lass! my favourite character is Lady Sybil (and i accidentally found out the huge spoiler about her when i was googling her, hmph).

i uploaded a collective clothing (and small beauty) haul on my channel yesterday so if you fancy having a look at the (one too many) shirts i've bought, the video will be embedded below. i think i have a problem. no, i KNOW that i have a problem with buying shirts. they're all fantastical and different from each other though so it's all dandy and great! :) there's also two pairs of rather interesting trousers in the video amongst some more weird yet wonderful things, some of you will be thinking 'what were you thinking?!' and some of you may like it! i guess that i just wanted to express my inner rock star in me, haha.

my fingers are now turning into icicles and typing is quickening the process! i think i'll leave you now, i used to save this type of 'random' early morning writing for twitter/long text messages to Jordan and my friends for them to wake up to! i'd make them all tweet/say the magic word to me at college if they read them... things like 'the golden octopus with a pink tutu on'. it was amusing seeing the people who would just walk up to me to tell me that phrase, haha. i don't think i've ever expressed this weird, weird, WEIRD side of me on my blog/youtube before but here's an introduction! i'm not too sure why i don't, writing/filming is so comforting and relaxing for me but i guess i'm a bit too scared to properly show this side incase people are like running away whilst frantically clicking unsubscribe! i think i would.

... i am going to regret this blog post by tomorrow but it'll be too late!

Let's Play A December Catch Up!

Now, I don't know about you but December (and the start of January) was extremely busy for me - last minute Christmas shopping, university deadlines, work deadlines and dashing around all over the place meant I didn't have time to catch up with blogging (both reading and writing)!

In case any of you were interested, I thought I'd post a few outfit photos and videos that I ~~forgot~~ didn't have the time to post last month! If you wanted to play catch up or just had a few minutes to spare, perhaps this will come in handy! Grab yourself a nice cup of tea/coffee/water/juice/fizz too! :)

DECEMBER NINTH:
Outfits for all seasons: Spring to Autumn/Winter Fashion

Whenever I buy a new item of clothing, I always try to picture at least four outfits in my head before I click the 'check out' button. Aside from being a student, I just love being able to wear my wardrobe (not literally) all year round. Don't worry, I do like to buy some festive-themed/bright summery pieces from time to time too! Have a look at the outfit pictures below to see how I'd wear the clothing items from summer - autumn!

Outfit One:
patterned blouse - vintage

Shirts and blouses make up about 90% of my wardrobe - I can't get enough of them and they're definitely my favourite type of clothing items to buy. They're versatile, effortless to wear and can be easily adapted for a variety of situations. The outfit above can be worn to work, shopping or an evening out - just change the accessories around and voila!

Outfit Two:

black and white crochet dress - Fashion Temple in Brighton

grey cardigan - New Look

Dresses aren't just for the summer time and as I'm very fond of sporting a monochrome outfit - this dress had to be included. Some dresses/skirts/shorts just doesn't look right when it's paired with dark coloured tights - no fear, I'm wearing nude tights and you can barely tell. They keep you warm and ensure you can still rock your favourite bottoms without freezing your legs off!

Outfit Three:

If there's a 'rule' for autumn/winter fashion, it's to layer your clothes. Unfortunately, I stupidly decided to tuck in the bottom of my black jumper so I look a bit foolish in the picture but you get the idea! If you have any bright coloured summery clothes in your wardrobe, revamp them for winter by layering jumpers over the top of it! It's refreshing to zap a bit more colour during the dull and dark days, and you'll feel much happier too!

Woops - another shirt. This blue work shirt was from ASOS for a bargain price of £18! It's great and the collar makes me happy - I do love me a good structured collar. Pay an ode to the classic school girl look without mimicking Ms Britney Spears. I've modernised it with a wet-look skater skirt to add a bit of an 'edge' to the overall look! By adding a mac coat/faux fur collar/leather jacket will keep you warm without compromising the style of the outfit!

This was a bit of a last minute outfit where I decided to just, well, chuck everything on. I'm obsessed with my leopard headband (although I've lost it and I can't find it anywhere, boo). If you're not a hat person or you fancy a bit of a change, fur headbands are GRRRReat! They keep you warm and makes you look stylish too. Cobalt blue will forever remain a colour that can be worn all year round - it's always strutting down the catwalk during the A/W shows and dancing down the runway for the S/S shows. It's a crowd favourite - pair it with some neutral shades and accessories for the bright blast of blue to stand out!

DECEMBER THIRTEENTH:
three year anniversary with Jordan

December 13th marked our third year anniversary together! We went to our favourite restaurant and watched The Hobbit in IMAX on the actual day and then went into Central London for some Christmas shopping in Westfield Stratford followed by the Lion King on stage! It was awesome. I don't have a picture of the outfit I wore underneath my jacket on day one so if you were interested, watch the video below! :)

DECEMBER TWENTY-FIFTH:Christmas Day Montage and What I Got For Christmas Video

Christmas! I wore a big festive jumper and made a montage of our day! I also made a 'what I got for Christmas' video too so have a gander if you wanted to have a bit of a nose like me! Needless to say that I am extremely grateful and thankful for what I received but presents are not to be prioritised, I had a PERFECT Christmas Day spent with the people I love and it still makes me smile just thinking about it! I hope you all had a great Christmas too!
