Well my goal to put out a SoFoBoMo book failed (more details).

The plan was to create a book on Finnish retriever hunt tests. I still plan on creating the book - this is one of the shots that will make the final version.

An end of sorts

As has been quite apparent for some time, my 356 project is a fail. Not that it really surprises me. While I admire everyone who can take the time every day to come up with a new shot (or several) that is worth publishing, I can’t find it in me. So no more project 365 entries.

But this isn’t an end for Shutterclicks either. My 365 also left me in a slight state of photographic burnout and there was quite a long time that I didn’t even pick up the camera for anything at all. Now I’m starting to feel like picking up the camera is fun again and I’ll be back, with some backlog images as well.

This shot is one of several that I’ll publish from the same day when we had the first good frozen tracks on the snow. Some raptor or owl caught a mouse or some sort and wondered off to eat it a bit further away.

Day 76 - Guitar

It’s been 15 or so years, but I finally bought a new set of strings and restrung my old dobro. My mother’s father used to play it and I can see where his hands have left their marks on the body. With the new strings it is a joy to play again. The tingling at the tips of my fingers as I type holds a long forgotten satisfaction.

Day 75 - Kotiteollisuus, again

Last nights gig showed me that there is such a thing as being too close to the stage when shooting. We were in the first row in a small venue, which meant that a 28-75 was a bit too long for traditional shots of the lead singer and his guitar. But it also meant the chance to get some interesting detail shots.

I was amused as in the pre-concert setup a roadie was tuning this guitar - he only tuned the lowest four strings. Of course when the music is practically plain power chords, the two highest strings aren’t even used…

Day 74 - Kotiteollisuus

So far we’re three months into the year and we’ve gone to a gig each month. This time it was Eastern Finland’s own Man-music band Kotiteollisuus.

Day 73 - Snowy desert

I’ve been seeing lots of shots of bright orange desert sands. We don’t have any sand around, especially at this time of the year.

This is also an alternate edit of tomorrow’s Life of Jalo picture.

Day 71 - Wishing upon a star

Dare I even try to maintain the premise of doing a project 365? I’ve got pictures lined up, but haven’t had the energy to process them. I really should get a grip.

The full moon came with cloudless skies, so I just had to go outside with the camera. I played around with getting a self-portrait in the moonlight. I like this one with the ghostly me the most.

The light is all from the moon. And there will be more to come.

Day 60 - Goldens galore

Spent the day at the Finnish Golden Retriever specialty 2009. This meant waking up at 05:00 and driving 900 km. Am I sane?

But, I got to meet some friends and some great new people (and dogs), so all in all it was a fun day.

(Note, this post finally published with a picture over a week late. Sorry, trying to get rid of the backlog.)

Sorry for the late post, had to go to bed earlier because of the next day’s trip. And then I promptly forgot about it for over a week. Bad me.
