As today I'm turning 24, I thought I'd post up my list of 24 things I'd like to do before I'm 25! I've seen this awesome idea floating around everywhere, and knew I had to join in. :)

01. Swim or cagedive with sharks.
02. Learn a new language.
03. Develop a fitness routine & stick with it.
04. Take photos with sparklers.
05. Read 50 new books. (I'm a compulsive re-reader. I've probably re-read Good Omens and Out more than I've read some new ones!)
06. Finish reading all the "classics".
07. Write a novel.
08. Try to take a photo everyday, of anything. Clouds, cats, or even myself!
09. Make some cake pops! Been wanting to try, never found the right time.
10. Fill out my recipe book with family and personal favorites.
11. Travel somewhere, even for a few days. Now that I'm living in England I really want to take advantage of the closeness of everything.
12. Save up and purchase a DSLR Camera.
13. Sew a bit more.
14. Buy more vintage/second-hand items & less mass-manufactured clothing.
15. Save up for a deposit on a house, or a significant amount towards one.
16. Spend less time on the computer, and more time making things.
17. Make another scrapbook.
18. Make some new friends.
19. Finish design for fifth tattoo.
20. Make some soap.
21. Make some candles! (Can't have enough of either, right?)
22. Start posting outfit photos and being more open.
23. Learn how to drive.
24. Spend less time worrying, more time living.

Now I'm off to relax a bit before getting ready to hit lunch at a Polish deli & then grab dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe! Can't wait! :)

Decided to slightly change some things on the blog. Still unsure of it, but like this a lot better than the old. All I did was tweak the header and title font! So, not much. But I feel this matches the vibe of the other sites a lot better {Design | Home}!

Thanks for the positive notes on yesterday's post! As I've mentioned in the past, Ume Sweets is a jewelry shop my mom is starting, I'm just helping spread the word & design the site. Soon some will be up for sale on storenvy, then etsy! So keep an eye out for that. ;)

In other news, I'm coming down the a cold (flu? idk. sniffles!) which I didn't even think was possible in August. What a bummer! I can't believe the summer is nearly over, yet the weather has only started to get nice. It's a real difference living in England as opposed to the US in that aspect. Never knew the weather could be so miserable! But it's still very beautiful here, with lots of lovely things to do. I'm quite looking forward to the winter season. Last time visiting England (London & Manchester) before moving here it was just after Christmas, and it was beautiful! Lights everywhere, wonderful places to visit. Can't wait! But before that there's my birthday (turning 24! oh my!) & ... that's it! It will be my first year without a need to make a massive turkey and pumpkin pie, but instead there's bonfire night, which I've heard is quite nice.

I'm skipping Things you might not know Thursday for a bit to keep things fresh, and later on this week posting my 24 before 25 list. I know I'm not quite 24 yet, but hey, why not! A bit of early planning never hurts.

I also plan on doing a review of my favorite nail polishes, most likely tomorrow! After being inspired by so many bloggers that always have fancy talons, I started to try watching mine a bit more.

Also, if anyone is interested in a button swap, please let me know! I'd include your button and a link to your site on my sidebar under 'Lovelies' and you'd do the same! :) Just email me, or leave a comment somewhere. x Maybe we could do something fun like guest posts, etc.

This week has been interesting, to say the least. Tomorrow is my hubby's 23rd birthday!!, so preparations are starting for that! He has opted out of a cake, so instead I will be making peanut butter fudge. A much better choice, I'm sure. :)

Here are some instagram snaps to share for you lovelies today. I'm thinking of starting a little project, where everyday I take a picture of the sky at the same time. Still unsure if I'll be able to manage that, though. We shall see!

Visited Altrincham Market the other day, did a bit of shopping even though I was only on the look out for fabric so I could sew some quilts and plushies. The only fabric I could find was £12/meter which is crazy! Any of you lovely folk living in England that may be reading know of any shops that are less expensive? (Chains I'm presuming, unless you live near Manchester!)

Anywho, snapped some shots to share. :) Nothing too fancy, but a nice atmosphere on a lovely summer's day.

Hi, all! Today the weather in England has settled back into a bit of a dreary state, however that is no matter- because it's a new week, and it will be a lovely one! That said, I have some instagram shots to share with you lovelies. Also, I was shocked and honored to be made aware that the lovely Mia from MiaMoore has nominated me for this thing called a Liebster Award, which I shall post and take part in answering questions later on today, or tomorrow. Wee! Now I need to think of 11 of you lovelies to nominate in turn, which will be quite difficult because there are so many more than 11 that deserve to be acknowledged.

Also, thanks greatly to everyone who is following me! I'm still shocked people are popping back, and very appreciative! Because of my blog set up, I've had a comment asking how to follow me, and under each post is a link to follow. I've had GFC on the blog, but don't really like the look of it, so took it down. Hello everyone. :) Recently we took a trip out to Chatsworth Park for a picnic and a walk, so of course I had to snap some photos. So here you go- enjoy! Hello all! As a companion piece to my everyday makeup routine, I thought I'd post my makeup box! I've seen this idea floating around a bit so why not join the bandwagon? :) I always love seeing what people use, so while my collection is quite small compared to most, I thought I'd share anyway! P.S.: Pardon the quality, mistake in saving after editing! :(

Section one: Lips. Front row: (all MAC:) Bombshell, Blossom Culture, Mellow Mood, Melody. And a lipliner & various lipglosses! Back row: Kat Von D. Celebutard, Revlon's Kiss me Coral and Love that Pink, and Avon Nude Perfection. Not included is a new lipstick I picked up recently, MAC's Amplified Creme Lipstick in Fast Play.

Section two: Eyes. Mascaras, brushes, and eyeliners! The eyeshadows are seriously all that I own! I also picked up another MAC eyeliner recently, not shown, in black. The palettes of eyeshadow are: MAC Reelers & Rockers, MAC Lady Grey, and Chanel Les 4 Ombres in Regard Perle. The little pot of eyeshadow is Lime Crime's eye dust in Nymph! :)


Last, but not least, Section three: Face. I use Neutrogena in classic ivory for under my eyes when it's needed, otherwise I almost always use the Rimmel Stay Matte powder in golden peach, and MAC's blusher in Solar Ray.

Hey there everyone! I thought I'd post my everyday make up routine. It takes me about 5 minutes, so it's definitely my 'go-to' for when I'm on the run! Excuse my strange facial expressions- I'm horrible when it comes to taking photos! :P Today has been a busy busy day- went on a trip to a park, had a picnic and a hike. Lovely day!

L: No makeup! Scary, I know. So, what I do is- R: Put on face powder with a kabuki brush, I use Rimmel London Stay Matte pressed powder in Peach Glow.

L: After applying this powder, I take a different brush and apply blush. I use MAC Mineralize Blush in Solar Ray. R: Then I cover my lid to brow bone in MAC eyeshadow in White Rabbit, and do the lid in Chanel's Regard Perle eyeshadow quad in the pink shade (top right). Then in the crease I blend in a little of MAC eyeshadow in Crown & Sceptre.

L&R: After that, I apply eyeliner- Tokidoki Brilliante Glitter Liner in Mozzarella followed by mascara, MAC False Lashes in False Black. After that, I throw on a dash of lipstick- I chose to use MAC cremeshene in Modesty. And there you have it, my very easy, somewhat natural looking makeup routine!

Now if only I could learn to tame my curly hair, then I'd be set. :) Do any of you have makeup routines? If so, please link, or let me know- I'd love to see! Thanks all, have a lovely evening xx

Hello all! Just a few snapshots from around my home to share, taken the past couple days. It's still quite dreary weather, but it'll be picking up soon so yay! for that. Thanks to everyone who has been commenting/following lately- I really appreciate it & am trying to work my way around to everyone's blogs to reciprocate! :) Would anyone be interested in swapping buttons? I made a 'lovelies' tab on the right side, where I'd love to put a few of you readers' buttons there! If anyone's interested in a swap, let me know.

Am also considering doing something about summer in the US so far versus summer in England. Both are lovely in their own way so keep an eye out for that possibly! :)

7. two books I'm currently (re-)reading. I tend to read multiple books at once, to freshen it up a bit. Also on this current rotation is Good Omens.

9. twinkle lights from Ikea I also put up in the corner! I should probably post some pictures of the room in general? hah :)
10. reindeer sweater! indeed, yesterday I wore a sweater, nearing the end of July. Sad times, although it's nice not being constantly hot- a welcome change, I suppose.

things you might not know thursday vol.3

Been a while since this feature, sorry! Have been busier with moving, but now that we're semi-settled (in the process of waiting for a visa, actually) I thought I'd do another update. :) This will probably change to a biweekly feature, or I'll run out of things to tell you guys. :P

My first tattoo was inspired by one that a Japanese rock artist, Kiyoharu, has on his neck. I happen to really like the nautical theme however, which is what inspired my fourth tattoo opposite this one.
I love starting projects, but I can be a bit rubbish at finishing them without a kick up the butt.
I used to really dislike painting my nails when I was little (can't even remember why, probably the smell at first, then just habit) but now I love it- it's funny, even my mom notices now when we see each other.
My favorite genre of mostly everything is Scifi/Fantasy, followed by comedy.
I used to play piano, albeit not that well (I think) & bass guitar briefly. I love music, but alas I think it's meant for me to enjoy, not perform!
I love taking pictures of pretty much anything. Too much perhaps, as I can tend to spam instagram a bit. That being said, I pretty much disregard any tips on taking photos 'professionally' or what have you- I take them because I enjoy it, and thinking too much about every angle and lighting just isn't my thing, though I admire those that take the time to consider all of the options.
I haven't had short hair since I was little, & when I was little it looked more like an afro because it's curly.
I prefer polaroids to digital cameras, but they're expensive and it's a pain to scan everything. Lame!
I really love postcards! They're a lot of fun to put up around the house as decorations or to use for cards, etc.
I do my holiday shopping pretty early, and by pretty early I mean, I have nearly all my Christmas gifts purchased as of today!

Went to Tatton Park with Cal yesterday. The weather was chilly, but nicer than it has been lately- which is rainy! Very, very rainy, haha. :) But we took some sandwiches, and bread to feed the birds, and it was lovely!

Hello everyone! Today I'll be posting my first review- it will be on Deborah Lippmann's nail polish in the shade Candy Shop. I have been on the hunt for it since reading a post on Duckling to Swan that featured it! Living in the UK, I had to search far for this- and I ended up getting it as part of a trio from House of Fraser. If interested, you can purchase this here(£28- very costly, but as it comes with three, it averages out to £9 a bottle which isn't too bad considering the cost of brands like Essie, etc.). I was unable to find this particular shade anywhere else that ships here, unfortunately. If you're in the U.S. it's more readily available, luckily! The other two shades in it are Happy Birthday and Forget You.

The shade is a very beautiful pink in the bottle with lovely glitter. It's a decent size bottle and applies nicely- smooth and dries quickly. However, balding occurs, which can be touched up with Happy Birthday, but I took a picture without doing that for accuracy.

That being said, I don't mind it. It's natural when you apply glitter and I really like the effect. This is with two coats, by the way. I think it'd be a lot nicer if my nails were longer, but I'm not displeased with it either. As I like to wear some bright colors, I dislike having nails that are too long, because as I've read on other blogs, neon colored talons aren't really easy to pull off (for me at least, though I see loads of lovely ladies who do manage it quite easily- jealous!)

I think this color would be a really nice accent nail color as well.

Anywho! If I were to rate this, a polish which runs around $18 or £12, I'd say it's worth it if you plan on wearing it often (as I think I will! I wore black jeans, black vest, and some tan moccasins today with a denim jacket and think the nails added some nice color). Anyone else wear shades by Deborah Lippmann? :)

recipe: blueberry streusel muffins!

Here's another recipe! This time it's for blueberry streusel muffins... (recipe adapted from Joy of Baking!)

What you need:
1 cup milk
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup granulated white sugar
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 cup lightly salted butter, chilled and cut into small pieces
1.5 cups blueberries
1/2 tablespoon grated lemon zest
**2 tablespoons butter, melted

What to do..
1. Set the oven to 350F or 175C. Mix together milk, eggs & vanilla, beating lightly, and set aside.
2. Mix together flour, sugar and baking powder, set aside. Also set aside about a cup of the mixture in a separate bowl**
3. Cut your butter into little pieces (**do not include the melted butter, this is for the topping) and add it to your mixture until it's coarse- do not overmix!
4. Fold in the blueberries and lemon zest (grate the lemon right before mixing to make it the freshest it can be!)
5. Add the liquid mixture and, again, lightly mix to avoid overmixing.
6. Spoon into muffin tins, either with liners or well-greased to avoid sticking.

**Add the melted butter to the mixture set aside and stir until coarse and crumbly- add a bit of this ontop each muffin, and bake for around 15-20 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean! :)

Hello everyone! The weather in England is back to being cool and overcast, a sad change from the lovely warm and sunny weather we had the past two days. But what can we do? :) Anywho..!
