In the early 20th century the residents of Fort Bragg, California disposed of their waste by hurling it off cliffs above a beach.

They threw everything: household appliances, automobiles, and all matter of trash. The place eventually came to be called “The Dumps” and by 1967 it was closed off by The North Coast Water Quality Board.

They initiated a series of cleanups to freshen up the site, but one thing was too hard to pick up: all the tiny shards of glass.

But over time the sea has smoothened and churned them, turning the place into a beautiful, coloured beach now called Glass Beach.

The place is now an unofficial tourist attraction.

This picture was taken last Monday at a mass marriage ceremony that was about to take place as part of the Akshaya Tritiya festival in Bhopal, India. There were oven three dozen Hindu brides-to-be here and, frankly, they don’t look very excited.

At first I thought they were spiders and I freaked out, but then I was all “aww”.

It looks like he just payed them $100 and said “Just leave me anywhere, far away, I don’t care”.
