eine freundin von mir (ja die, die net will dass ich den namen sag und wo schon die halloweenparty war *g) hat - zusammen mit ihrem freund - in ihrer neuen wohnung ein aquarioum vom vormieter geerbt, was sich grosser beliebtheit erfreut... auch bei mir *g... schaut echt so aus wie ein bildschirmschoner, nur dass die fische da irre sind... der neueste zuwachs (meines wissens) is der angiefisch :)) ... jups, schwer zu erraten, ich bin patin des fischleins, was sich jetz durchs aquarium putzt und extrem süss is. schwarz (wie sonst) mit weissen punkterl, siehe foto...
keine ahnung welche patenpflichen ich da haben werde, aber ich bin bereit, hihi.... ein hoch auf den angiefisch, das zähe wesen. ;)

just to keep the interested reader posted... spent the last week in vienna which was veeeeeery nice :) ... this week i've been sick since sunday - blaming the work, but might be the viennese wind did its work, hehe... the usual bronchitis-type cough i get all the time (and yes, i am VERY annoyed with that fact).
better now anyway. and the weekend will be spent working... how delightful. today i'll go have chinese with becca at what she calls the cheapest chinese place in graz. i dont know it, but hell, why not let the american chick show me around my town? ;))

went to a party at a friend's (she doesnt want me to put her name, clever people can guess) which was pretty cool - i couldnt stay long tho because i had to work later on. but still, some funny conversations and the conclusion that i'm looking forward to the next one ;)

a new week has come, and with it the end of my break - yes, i'm almost mourning already. blissful 6 weeks without having to think about academic achievement, you went so fast!

oh well. there's no new really... i had a lovely weekend with lots of work, and i'm also working on halloween - what a way to celebrate the end of the mental break. no down *ggg...

it's funny how breaks can help you realize things by doing nothing, basically... now, maybe you all know this already, but explicitly NOT dealing with a problem helps with getting the distance you need to see clearly again. i absolutely love the concept! and it's not as easy as you might think because basically you're supposed to not throw it around in your mind either.. but eventually things just re-arrange themselves and suddenly everything's in perspective again. very freeing.
that's how i got my motivation back, and energy for various things around the house and career ;)

alas!, for not having anything to say i've said enough. an announcement to finish:

... oder: wie ein an sich organisierter mensch von der schusseligkeit überrannt wurde. der star im drama: moi.

sich zu fragen, wieso ma eigentlich so müd is is schon amal blöd, wenn man nach 2 im bett war, und vor 9 wieder draussen. also zumindest in meiner welt is das so. aber gut, kann ja mal passieren - mir war einfach nimmer nach schlafen, und ich hab an sich viel zu erledigen gehabt.
erstmal hab ich mir gedacht, ich bin voll motiviert und schaffs heut sowieso durch meine ganze todo-liste. tja. wäsche rein in die maschine, und los! aufm weg zur bank (1. station) geh ich beim frisör vorbei und denk mir "na meine spitzen ghören eh geschnitten, mach ich das also". gesagt, getan, sprung in die bank und dann wieder retour haarschneiden. alles super, ich bin zufrieden und kompletto entspannt - was ja auch nix schlechtes is.
in meiner entspannung denk ich ma: na, geh ich wieder heim, mittag is. und tu ebendas, und weil ich ja so motiviert bin räum ich auch gleich die maschine wieder aus und denk mir so... hm, die wäsche riecht anders als normal. und wie ich so überleg, wieso das eigentlich so sein könnte fällt mir ein: "hab ich da eig waschmittel reingetan??" - is das bitte scho IRGENDwem amal püassiert? komplett lächerlich. waschmittel vergessen... also wäsche wieder rein, und waschmittel dazu, und nomma waschen. und kochen (zu viel, und sooo viel salat, der dschungel am teller *lach).
später dann klick ich mich durchs netz und ich weiss nimmer wie, aber irgendwo hat's mich erinnert, dass ich VIELLEICHT die studiengebühren auch mal zahlen sollte... weil nachfrist muss ja net unbedingt sein. also hab ich das noch schnell gemacht, bevor ich mich mit einer freundin auf kaffee getroffen hab (frage nicht, ich hab schon wieder mehr als 40 eusn beim moser liegengelassen...). nachher noch spazierengehen, und ich hab schon wieder an meinen nächsten termin gedacht, englisch nachhilfe geben um 19.00- aber geht sich ja alles schön aus. bis ich in dem lokal sitz und ein sms krieg, dass mein schüler ja in deutschland is, und nicht hier. und wieso sitzt die gute angie also im lokal und wartet? na weil in ihrem kalender steht, dass das heut is. notiz an selbst: hirn benutzen. is ja net so, als ob er mir das nicht gesagt hätte *g... aber wenns halt da steht und so.

fazit: heute is einer der schusseligsten tage seit langem, geschafft hab ich net so viel von meiner liste - aber soll nix schlimmeres passieren.

heyyyyyyyyy....

so, as always, it's been a while... thanks for all the good wishes on my birthday, i was really overwhelmed! so much for the world having forgotten about me *lol... no, wait, it hasnt!
life's still good, and exceedingly so!

debs made me this (<--) wonderful cake. actually, not really a cake but a fully-grown TORTE.... called: death by chocolate. a concept known in the states (man, i remember the ben&jerry's ice cream!), but here we dont usually try to kill each other in such delicious ways. what you see here is a pitch-black piece of heaven, filled with love and chocolate... baked with chocolate... and covered in it, too. YUM! chocolate. mental note: need recipe.
i have been eating this since yesterday, and i guess that also explains my constant high... must be the sugar. thanks again, babe!

among other presents is a photo shoot that chris (and please take a moment to click on the link to his excellent photo page!) did here last night. again, another factor in the general being high ;) ... we did some "naughty" pics... no, not THAT naughty. oh well, i guess just general angie-does-pics pics. and while we still have to work on most of those, have a look at the following.. i put them online, but bear in mind, they are raw versions...

tell me what you think... i'm happy that 26 did nothing horrible... man, am i relieved! :D

relaxing times

many of you know that i've been seing a therapist for a while now. it's really working for me, i feel i have a much better grip on my life and decisionmaking than before, and even though i still make mistakes - who doesnt? - i see them as learning opportunities much more than failures.
so much for the hippie talk. recently, i have learned that decisions are made much easier when you get away from whatever you are trying to decide. meaning: take a break from what's bugging you, andit'll get clear what you actually want.
i've done that in the past, and it has worked. and so the news for today is that i'm actually taking a break from the thesis. i think this is big news, because it means i can actually relax guilt-free until halloween. sounds like nothing, but it already feels great! it's funny how you give someone some authority over your life voluntarily, and let the guide you in your decisions, and it makes a difference. so until halloween i can take care of myself and see what happens...

i was thinking of going all the places i didnt go this summer because "i cant, i'm supposed to write my thesis" ;) ... and i'm taking a turkish language course with a friend. dont ask why, i wanna learn turkish. just because.

all in all, i'm really happy with my life right now, almost everything is how it's supposed be. gotta love it!

nothing to write, really. i talked to my parents yesterday, they said the mood couldnt be worse right now. obviously, greece is in mourning with more that 60 dead. it hasnt really hit me yet.
strangely enough, this touches me more that all the austrian catastrophes of late, avalanches etc. i hardly ever care, but greece cuts right through all layers of everything.

no big news.
i'm still a little sick-ish, cold and all. my throat hurts a little, but i am confidant that i will eventually kick that cold's ass.
private life is going just fiiine, for a change! more news when i know anything halfway definite. let's just say for now, i cant really complain and i am enjoying life. yessssss.

september is a-comin', and so is justin and becca, meaning i get the best of the states delivered right to my door - oh yeah, i'm excited! obviously, the language of conversation - as requested - will be german. hehe.

other than that, no plans. if anyone is going to frankfurt (or the general area), please let me know - i might need a ride^^

in the meantime i am still waiting for my internet and considering employing a voodoo priest in order to curse whoever screwed up with my account. he shall never again feel his happy place! ARR!

f*** yeah, i'm back to my old self! :D
went drinking with a nice guy on tuesday, 3 hrs of sleep, what can i say? thanks for a veeeery nice night, hehe.
unfortunately i overdid it and now i'm a little sick, but who cares. i'll stay in bed today and tomorrow, and then go to work tomorrow night, and party all weekend.
i have some couchsurfers coming saturday, so all the more reason to have fun!

all in all, a great week so far. and it looks like the good times continue :)

unser hund strizzi ist heut in der früh in griechenland von einem anderen hund totgebissen worden. scheinbar ist er ausgebüchst, wie so oft, und hat mit einem zum raufen angefangen...
mein vater hat ihn zwar zum tierarzt gebracht, aber er ist während der operationsvorbereitungen gestorben.

ich kann hier net wirklich einen nachruf schreiben, weil den hund hat man kennen müssen. ich merke nur an, dass scheinbar alle unsere hunde in griechenland ein ende finden, was gar net gut ist...

i was recently told to update more.

well.

it's true i havent exactly been flooding my blog with news, but that's because there is nothing happening that i feel i have to share with the world. but then again, the world isnt reading my blog^^
so what is new? i'm still working on the thesis. or, to be exact, i'm still about to start working on it. which might be the problem. but please, dont ask me how long it'll be. i hope to be done until my birthday. my personal present to myself. (and yes, i'm forgetting my english because i have no1 to talk to. so becca and justin: move! and get over here!).
other than that there's the usual personal trouble. i've got my depressive phases (somewhat)under control, i'm seeing a shrink about that and my inability to focus on what i still think is my priority in life (thesis!) and also my inability to have a stable relationship with a man, which is a constant as most (or rather, all) of you know. dont ask me what's wrong. sometimes i think men just want those skinny, nagging girlygirls (tussis, for the german-speakers), and i am not one and much as i sometimes want to i'll probably never be skinny, and i'll DEFINITELY never be a girlygirl, so the path that's laid out for me is a lonely one, as it seems (yay for self-pity!). and no, i really dont think i just wasnt lucky so far. 10 years of rejection isnt bad luck, it's more like a lifestyle. (argh.)
which is again depressing, closing the circle of problems back with the depressed phases which i thouht i kinda had under control. and right now i'm not really sure. oh well. i'll come around, i always do.

soooo. i thought some of you'd like a sneek peek at my co-workers... not all of them, but well. last week there was a country-night, and no we're not talking line dancing and fat people in chaps but cooooool country. cash, hank williams and the such^^true to form i borrowed a hat and a jacket for the occasion... and brought my cam and annoyed everyone with pictures. the one of me is crap because obvisously i didnt take it (my boss did. he needs camera-training).

some of you know already, some will now: i am moving!

i found an appartment for me alone. it has two rooms, one with a balcony... it's quite central, in a beautiful part of town. man, i am SO excited! :D
anyway, today i'm moving which means a looot of work (and a visit at IKEA's, hehe)... and it also means that i will be mostly offline for a while, i guess like a month. i want to have internet installed, but not before i finish my thesis - yup, i'm hoping to kick myself into a writing phase by making it impossible to [virtually] distract myself. or at least that's the plan^^

i'll send an email with the new address and post some pics soon...

hehe, heut war ich mit einer freundin shoppen - das war mal was ;) ich hab mir eeeeeendlich die langersehnte schwarze lackcorsage geleistet (teuer! aber supergeil!!) und bin very happy damit^^

aaah endlich mal wieder was postens-wertes passiert^^

letzten freitag (freitag der 13, huuuuuu) war subway to sally konzert hier im orpheum... ein akustik-konzert der extraklassen, wenn ich das so sagen darf.
also, dass es akustisch wird hab ich net realisiert gehabt, aber is eh egal... *g* - es war jedenfalls wirklich toll. die ausführung sowieso, aber auch die atmosphäre allgemein. viele von den kuscheligeren songs, eh klar. aber wir (das publikum) haben sie auch dazu gebracht julia und die räuber zu spielen... was live und ohne "e"-instrumente echt gut gekommen is: dudelsack ahoi! hehehe...

was sonst *nachdenk*... viel is ja momentan nicht los. das wichtigste ist wahrscheinlich, dass es mir wieder besser geht, also besser als die letzten monate jedenfalls. ich sehe wieder licht am ende des laaaangen tunnels^^

hab mich ja für eine teaching assistantship stelle in schottland/england beworben, die hab ich auch bekommen. leider weder in schottland (erste wahl) noch meiner 2. und 3. wahl an englischen gegenden, sondern staffordshire oder cheshire. und darauf hab ich eigentlich keine lust wenn ich ganz ehrlich sein soll. das auch der grund, warum ich das absagen werde... ich formulier grad in meinem kopf herum, wie ich das am besten in geschriebene form bringe ;)
das heisst also, ich bleib in graz und zum ersten mal seit jahren find ich das gar net so schlimm, im gegenteil: eher als chance. also nicht, dass ich net wieder nach nyc zurück will, bzw in die usa allgemein, aber vielleicht wärs ja net so schlecht mal irgendwo wurzeln zu schlagen... die wanderjahre haben mich auch net grad glücklicher gemacht^^
und endlich hab ich auch gute gründe hierzubleiben: explo, freunde, ein leben fast *hrhr*... und einen job, zumindest einen ersten. you gotta start somewhere^^

naja, das also das neueste... vielleicht hab ich bald auch noch andere news, ich schau gleich eine wohnung an - und es is gut möglich, dass ich dann seeehr bald aus der wg auszieh, was mir gar net unrecht is...:D

explo - under construction

soooooo. endlich hab ichs auch auf unsere explo-baustelle geschafft... das neue explo entsteht am bahnhofsgürtel 55a, und es is SUPER. ein riesenhaus mit keller und erstem stock, und ein nebengebäude und freifläche und das allerbeste: keine nachbarn, die sich beschweren... wunderbare sache.
heut hab ich mich mal in montur geschmissen und 4 std lang dornengestrüpp und -schnitt gerecht, und lustige metallteile aus dem unterholz gewurstelt. das klingt jetz net so toll, aber es ist ein seltsam befriedigendes gefühl, wenn man dann das kleine stückchen gstettn vor sich hat, und runderhum die häufen mit gstauder... während ich das gemacht hab hatte ich zum ersten mal sowas wie verständnis für meine mutter, die ja jede helle frühlings-sommer-und-herbststunde quase im garten verbringt und da werkelt. also nicht dass ich jetzt plötzlich leidenschaftlich gärtner, aber es ist schon ein gutes gefühl.. nuja, ihr versteht mich schon.
dann hab ich auch noch die grillerei beaufsichtigt und dabei mit romeos sohn tiberiu (8) eine diskussion über pro und con des vegetarierdaseins geführt.. auch das recht interessant. und dann is der tiberiu in ein wasserlich gefallen, und hat sich seeehr geekelt weil da scheinbar viele reingepinkelt haben... und dann war er auch noch gschamig von wegen ausziehen, weil das nasse zeugs musste ja runter. da hab ich dann net schauen dürfen.. aber auch das hamma gelöst. spannende sache ;)

abgesehen davon isses ein ruhiges wochenende, nix zu tun, kein stress und nur lesen und so... schööön!

ah, i havent been writing not because i'm busy, but quite the contrary... oh well.

i finally read the last two harry potter books after watching the movies.. and it is quite a nice way to spend one's time, i have to admit. looking forward to the last book in july ;)

two - fasching is over, and i was working at exil, dressed in pirate outfit *lol*... t'was fun, but i was glad to get to bed at 6am after work and detangling my hair... you gotta look scruffy as a pirate...

three - nothing. the thesis is going slowly, i'm in another slumpy phase, but at least i started. and that's all the info i will ever release until i finish :D

weeeeeell.
so i had the interview for the scottish/gb thing. it wasnt very exciting [am i getting used to these things??] - just one thing. while we were waiting at a nearby cafe i realized, that actually i am applying to teach in schools, not at universities... hehe. good i figured that out BEFORE the interview ;)
anyway, after that i was even less interested, meaning that i was even more relaxed and could talk freely about whatever they asked me. i was even honest when the scottish guy interviewing me asked why i wanted to go to 'god's own country': i said because i really liked the dialect and because i wanna be able to understand it better... tehee, i guess that was something away from the usual "i did my matura in william wallace - crap" he'd been hearing all day.

after that i went for schnitzel, obvisously. when in rome---

other than that there isnt really much to say. my life is going as always, the thesis is getting some professional help, and i am hopeful that i will finally start soon and be ok with everything.

yup. austria is ... boring! [i miss ny.]
