I will go as far as to say Earthbound was the best SNES game produced. (rivaling Chrono Trigger, Zelda, and Mario). You can basically throw out any concept you ever had of “RPG” when you start playing this. The game is hilarious and the best RPG out there. Your main weapon is a baseball bat and yoyo. You don’t stock up on potions, you stock up on pizza, cheeseburgers and cheesy-peanuty bars.

Here’s what starment.net says are highlights from Earthbound:

obsessive-compulsive police roadblocks
bribing crooked politicians
saving a girl kidnapped by a cult obsessed with the color blue
solving a town’s zombie problem
freeing a race of aliens enslaved by a talking pile of puke
fighting hippies with toothbrushes
wandering inside a psychedelic minus-world ruled by an evil statue
being taught by a talking monkey how to teleport
having your soul transplanted into the body of a robot in order to facilitate time travel

I’m currently playing its sequel, Mother3, as the translation patch is now out. If the game is ever officially released over seas, I’ll buy it. The game is a little more serious than its predecessor….kinda…. you do tackle a T-Rex within the first minute of gameplay. In short, IT IS AMAZING.

Day One. Thanksgiving.

Society teaches us the way to enlightenment is through consumerism. If you are unhappy, you buy that which makes you happy. When you tire of such possessions, you buy more. You, the cog of the system, that powers this machine and pumps money into this system. You who realize time and time again that you truly are not happy, yet throw aside any such notion because of what you are taught.

This is faux enlightenment. This will not bring you complacency.
