As soon as I layed my eyes on this dress, I knew I had to have it. I am head over heals in love with this feminine "bad ass" dress. The edgy top portion mixes perfectly with the flowy sheer bottom of this dress. My ASOS necklace was just what I needed to complete this look. I must say I love this dress even more with my new haircut.

A Little Bit of Camo

I have seen the "camo pants" trend all over the blog world as well as on the streets. As much as I love this trend I feel it can be a tricky one to pull together. I tried numerous combinations before deciding this was my favorite. Take a more casual pair of pants and fancy it up with a pair of heels and a pretty blouse. I love this simple sleeveless blouse that has a minimal amount of embellishment along the neckline, a perfect added touch. It took this look from what began as casual and transformed it into a chic look that still had an edgy feel to it. A pop of color completed this look.

Green with Spots

Simple but playful is exactly what I was going for with this outfit. Army green has become the number one color on my color palette this spring. Take a pair of classic fit shorts, add an edgy print and you haven stolen my heart. Exactly what H&M did with these shorts. The jacket was the perfect combination for a monochromatic look with the perfect amount of added detail. I'm sorta in love with this look.

Floral Print

I have a thing a for floral pants and chambray anything especially during spring and summer. I love the feminine feel these pants have with a delicate floral print. They will definitely be a go to piece this summer. I paired it with a chambray sleeveless top and an army green colored vest to create a edgy but chic look. I look forward to pairing these pants with my other favorite piece, the peplum top!

Sunday I decided to do a little shopping with the money I had made from the garage sale my girlfriends and I had on Saturday. When I first saw these pants I was a little hesitant mainly because wide leg pants usually look silly on me and are usually too short. Not these fun and flirty patterned pants. Can we talk about how these pants are the most comfortable things I have ever put on my body. Honestly it feels like I have no pants on. I want to wear these babies everyday from this point forward. I was pretty bummed they didn't have these pants in any other patterns or colors. It is safe to say these will be a reoccurring item in my wardrobe.

It’s true, back in the days when I was pregnant, let’s just say, there definitely wasn’t the options that the modern expectant mother has today. Yes, I could dwell upon how unfair it is, but truth be told, when I see how cute and stylish some of the pieces are, I could actually picture myself wearing them today.

What clothes, you may ask? I’ll discuss these fabulous pieces below:

The Little Cute Dress (Black or otherwise): Yes, we all have that one essential wardrobe necessity, as in a super cute dress that we can slip on and feel like a million dollars! But what if this super-cutie does double-duty as a maternity wear? Take a look: yes, this darling little number has the potential for re purposing as in wearing before, during and after pregnancy. Who wouldn’t want to look fashion-savvy and sophisticated, all while growing a healthy baby?

Mom Jeans of the 21^st Century: I have to admit this is the hardest one for me to get over. For most of my pregnancy I suffered with the ‘mommy’ jeans that they had available at the time; a denim-ish, type material that might have also been used for constructing sails, protecting the interior of the space shuttle and bullet-proof vests. Neither flattering nor cute or comfortable for that matter. Of course, styles have evolved along with other aspects of our modern lifestyle as seen in these very cute pair of jeans. Unfair as it seems, it still wouldn’t prevent me from perhaps buying a pair for those weekends when my belly bloats a bit from a little too many indulgences.

Maternity Swimwear: This is a big one that has embraced a woman’s changing body and enhanced comfort and style and one that unfortunately, was nowhere to be found during my pregnancy years. This particular piece is not only very affordable ($60.00!) but is as practical and stylish as any other essential piece of your maternity wardrobe. A pregnant Kate Hudson must have thought so as well, as she has been seen wearing these super-stylish suit. Carried by maternity swimwear you won’t be disappointed with the clean lines and chic sensibilities. Think about how fabulous you and your belly will look poolside.

At the end of the day, I can’t bemoan my pregnancy wardrobe, too much. After all I’ve got my beautiful (and busy!) family to tend to. But there are still times that I see something cute and think, why, why why didn’t they have that available for me?

Oh well, it seems that sometimes we have to wait for trends to catch up with our design sensibilities rather than the other way around. To all you fabulous expecting women out there—enjoy your pregnancy and those super cute looks to choose from, but mainly enjoy that little one. I’ve learned that those precious early days will disappear quicker than those maternity looks of yesteryear.

I cannot believe this guy is 8 months old today. Only 4 months shy of a year, crazy! It blows my mind to think that I was pregnant this time last year, so many wonderful changes have taken place in my life since then. It has been the most thrilling adventure of my life.

The weekends go by so fast once the weather starts getting nicer. The weather was nice enough yesterday to enjoy some family time at the park after a quick shopping trip to Home Goods. I'm trying my best to de-clutter our house, so what does that mean in my book....buy more stuff, go figure! But anyways my little guy sure loves the park. Tons of baby giggles filled the air for the 15 minutes we spent there. Baby giggles just melt my heart. It's these moments that make my heart smile.

A Summer Wishlist

I know Spring has just settled upon us but I would be lying if I said I wasn't already wishing for summer. Being 8 and 9 months pregnant last summer didn't exactly make it the most enjoyable one. Especially not my elephant feet!

My search for cute summer gear is on. First I am in search for a cute one piece swimsuit since I'm not quite ready to get back in a bikini yet and this black one is my favorite so far. I love the flirty ruffle front. It has such a feminine but also sexy feel to it. And these sunglasses are just too adorable. I own one pair of Karen Walker sunglasses already and I am obsessed. I cannot think of summer without thinking of the beach which equals no more pasty skin. A little self tanner would be perfect to get that summer glow that I currently lack. These items would pair perfectly together for a warm summer beach day!

It has been a bit hard finding flattering outfits to wear these days. I have plenty of clothes in my closet but just seem to hate how they all fit. That probably has something to do with the lingering baby weight that is still around. So yet again a peplum it is. You can see here and here other ways I have been rocking the peplum top, my outfit saving top! In other news, I scored these pants at H&M for $9.95. Now thats a good find in my book. Needless to say I bought them in four other colors.

With the weather warming up, Aidan and I have been spending tons of time outdoors. We experienced his first park adventure this past week which consisted of some swinging and sliding. When I first put him in the baby swing he was a little hesitant and unsure of what was going on but after a few pushes he was all smiles. The slide on the other hand was his favorite right from the start. Aidan also visited his cousins this weekend where he got the chance to enjoy the slide on there new awesome swing set. Let me tell you swing sets are way cooler now than they were when I was little! As you can see above he made some priceless faces while going down the slide. I'm excited for our new outdoor adventures.

Unlikely Colors

I think it is safe to say I love H&M and all the fun colors and prints they have out for spring. It was 77 degrees today which means I can finally wear my skirts without tights, yay!! I have a closet full of spring clothes waiting to be worn. Warm weather please stay!

I love mixing unlikely color combinations like these pale yellow pumps with this "pink punch" color blazer. I explained in this post how perfect this blazer is. I would strongly suggest you pick one up at H&M. While your at it treat yourself to a pair of floral print pants or a feminine floral print skirt, a must have for this spring!

A few of my favorite Aidan pictures.

Aidan is sitting up like such a big boy these days and entertaining himself in his pack and play. He is absolutely in love with the remote control his grammy bought him for Easter.

My family trying to persuade his choice of baseball team. I personally have no interest in baseball. You got to love the drool dripping all the way down to the bottom of his shirt. It's safe to say teething has begun.

The poor thing was so tired he passed out on mommas bed with his arm over his face. It was the cutest thing ever so of course I captured it.

Daddy is obsessed with Spiderman so I allowed this shirt solely because it had a tie on it! He only has about 10 other Spiderman shirts, overboard much.

Uncle Nick bought Aidan his first NY Ranger jersey. This I 100% approve of!

Someone is ready for summer!

I could take pictures of this little guy 24 hours a day. I was going through my camera over the weekend and I cannot believe how much he has grown and changed in the last 7 months. I must say life has never been better!

Pastels

I finally was able to get outside for an outfit shoot. The weather was pretty cooperative minus the wind (see the crazy, not so sexy blowing hair). I am just happy the sun was shining and it wasn't 40 degrees or below. Spring is taking a longer than necessary amount of time to make an appearance this year. I am on Spring Break this week and was really hoping for some warmer weather so I could take Aidan to the park but looks like the weather will be warming up once I am back at work, figures.

My closet currently consists of pants in an array of color and prints with theses mint pants being at the top of my favorite list. Colored pants can add such a fun factor to an outfit without overdoing it. I paired them with this perfect blazer to add a rich color to the softer tones in the top. I referred to this blazer as perfect because of its great quality and the fact that it fits beautifully. And that is probably why I own it in three colors! It is by far the most flattering blazer I have found and the length is just right especially when pairing it with a peplum top, my other current obsession. Peplum tops are great because they hide all that lingering baby weight. I have been longing for spring and this outfit is exactly what that represents. The soft colors remind me of blooming flowers and colored Easter eggs, two things that scream spring in my book.

Dream Big & Enter

Dream Big: a phrase that I try my hardest to live by, a phrase that I plan to share with my son every day, a phrase I have hanging in my classroom to remind my students to go after their dreams. A phrase we should all live by??? My answer to that would be yes. What kind of life is one without dreams, crazy extraordinary dreams! Now lets be realistic some dreams are completely out of reach like Adam Levine knocking on my front door and confessing his love for me but that doesn't mean it's not a happy dream. Children have an amazing ability to dream the wildest of dreams. They still see the world as a safe, remarkable place where anything is possible. Unfortunately as you age, you realize that things may not be as easy as you once believed they were. The world is a beautiful place you just need to open your eyes to it. Your wildest dreams are possible but will not just be handed to you. Why is as adults ours dreams often begin to fade? Is it because we have now lived and seen failure and fear it for ourselves?

If you were asked to grab a pencil and paper and write down three of your dreams whether they be crazy and unattainable or ones you are going to work your butt off to reach, what would they be? Do they practically jump onto the paper or do you need to sit and think about it for awhile? Mine would be rolling off my tongue before I got the chance to even open my mouth.

My first dream, the most important of the three, has already come true. I have been blessed with a beautiful son who has actually pushed me to follow my other dreams even though he is completely unaware of that fact. Isn't it amazing how a child has the ability to completely change a persons life in the most magical way. I now have two other dreams that I am going to go after at full force. Is it a bad thing to have big dreams? I don't think so. But with big dreams can also come disappointment and frustration. It always seems that once things feel like they are beginning to fall into place in comes the let down and understand that is going to happen but damn is it annoying! You know how some people are just good at a particular thing like Adele is at singing. Well one thing I know I am good at is planning a party and by that I mean coming up with a theme and creating quality handmade decorations that leave a lasting impression. That may come off as being conceited but I truly believe there is a difference between being conceited and embracing a gift you were given. I was blessed with the gift of creativity and it would be a shame to waste this gift, a gift that makes me extremely happy. Creating and designing is my happy place. Shouldn't everybody have a happy place? My dreams may be crazy and big but I truly believe they are ones I can fulfill. I have hit that frustration stage because my free time is pretty non existent these days which is defiantly a set back when you are trying to pursue such big dreams. Far two often do those terrifying thoughts of giving up run through my mind and then I pick up a needle and thread, take out my cricut, or start designing some new jewelry and I remember there is no giving up, not for this girl. Do you ever feel this way? If you ever do just remember this.

So I am taking a leap and I am going for it! I am currently in the research stage but it is only the beginning for this girl. Etsy on the other hand has made my second dream possible. About a month before Aidan was born I finally decided to open my Etsy shop. I know bad timing right! It has been a little tough to get my designs created but I am working on them every chance I get. I finally was able to update my shop with new items and this was very exciting and fulfilling for me. It is still a work in progress but I have big dreams for my little shop, Simply Just Lovely and a ton of designs in the works. I thought I would share one of my dreams with you today, a free necklace from my shop! Because every one of my pieces is a piece of my dreams.

Wedding Date Framed Art // DIY

Do you enjoy creating handmade gifts or love receiving them? If so this is a perfect gift idea for the bride to be. It captures something so special in such a fun, modern way. I am sure you have seen number art before and if not it looks something similar to this. Unlike most number art, I did not photograph these numbers around my neighborhood. I actually went to the local Home Depot and bought a few different style house numbers. I'm getting ahead of myself here. Anyway, crafting is good for the soul so turn on some music, my choice being country, and have a little fun.

Here are the materials you will need to purchase.

As I started to say above I bought the different style house numbers at Home Depot. I found some prints I loved and printed them on 5x7 photo paper. All the other supplies were purchased at Joann's fabric but can also be found at Michael's or AC Moore. I originally decided to use tiny clothes pins for the idea of the prints hanging from a clothes line but later changed my mind and used miniature hanger clips. This is why in the supply list above I wrote clips of your choice.

STEP 1: I used my paper cutter to cut my cardstock into three rectangles all of equal size. These rectangles were used to create the back drop. I attached the cardstock to the back piece of the frame using my hot glue gun.

STEP 2: Take your four art prints and decide on your layout before gluing them onto the cardstock. (the prints were originally printed on 5x7 photo paper and were then downsized and trimmed around the edges to create rounded corners) I used photoshop elements to add the text to my first print.

STEP 3: After you glued your four prints down, it is now time to glue the wedding date numbers down. You can always use the same style numbers but I thought it was more unique with a variety of styles.

STEP 4: Glue a piece of ribbon above the prints (use your clip to measure the distance from your ribbon to your print to make sure it is close enough together) to create your clothes line.

STEP 5: The last step is to attach your clips (here are the miniature clothes hangers I was talking about above).

Cute, right?!?

Handmade gifts always make a person smile. It shows that you took the time to make something personal from the heart. This framed art can be customized in various different ways. For example, you can change the back drop color to match the wedding colors (to add an extra personal touch) or you can choose from millions of different prints to create a modern, vintage or classic feel. Making A Statement

Some may describe my style as eccentric, some may say it's bold while others just think it's obnoxious. What can I say I love bold, loud prints and the brightest colors you can find. Now is the time to experiment with bright colors and crazy patterns, with this of-the-moment trend in full swing, just don't overdo it. I wouldn't suggest patterns from head-to-toe although sometimes it does work but the right mix can make for a funky, spectacular outfit. As far as color-blocking goes, it's always a thumbs up in my book. If you haven't already noticed patterns, patterns and more patterns are currently trending and I am eating them up!

Check out some of my favorite statement pieces from few different stores. Clearly you will not have troubling finding prints this spring and summer. Add a little punch to your wardrobe.

I actually own the first two pair of pants and would own the third pair if I wasn't so tall. The floral water color pants just scream Spring and might also scream obnoxious to some. I personally adore them. The next two pairs are more subtle color wise but still have that funky print to spice up your wardrobe..

I would spend every one of my summer days in a maxi dress and this one particularly. The color combination makes me googly eyed. I am already picturing myself in dress number two on a warm summer night with a simple pair of pumps.

These gemstone silver rings are so fun. I love the color combination in the second ring; it immediately caught my eye. The third ring is so unique, not like anything I have seen before and I always embrace different!

I am loving the second top but the days of showing my belly are over thanks to my cute little son. Two years ago, I would have been all over this top! The flower tank is pretty toned down, no obnoxious colors, a subtle print but the sequins make it so flirty and romantic. Colored leopard print equals fantastic.

What are your thoughts on this current trend? Love it or hate it?
