In honor of our exhibition of original art from the entire issue of AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #50 by J. Michael Straczynski, John Romita Jr. and Scott Hanna, MoCCA presents an unprecedented roundtable discussion of the past quarter-century of all things Peter Parker with the editors who have helmed the title since the Reagan Administration! Axel Alonso (editor of ASM) Tom Brevoort, Danny Fingeroth, and MoCCA Trustee Jim Salicrup join current AMAZING editor Steve Wacker for the panel chat and audience Q&A. Moderated by MoCCA Trustee and current Spidey scribe Fred Van Lente.

AXEL ALONSO is Vice President, Executive Editor at Marvel Comics. He has been the editor on AMAZING SPIDER-MAN, X-MEN, PUNISHER and DC’s Vertigo imprint.

TOM BREVOORT has been a part of Marvel Comics since 1989, when he started out as an intern. He served as an assistant editor, associate editor and editor before being promoted to his current position as Executive Editor in 2007. Over the past decade, Tom has overseen the revitalization of the Avengers franchise, presided over major crossover events including Civil War and Secret Invasion, and served as editor on titles including NEW AVENGERS, CAPTAIN AMERICA, FANTASTIC FOUR and many others.

DANNY FINGEROTH (Sr. VP of Education at MoCCA) was the editor of the SPIDER-MAN line 1983-84 and its Group Editor 1990-95. He wrote WEB OF SPIDER-MAN and several Spider-Man limited series. Danny was a consultant to the FoxKids Spider-Man animated series and to James Cameron’s early version of what would become the 2002 Spider-Man movie. He’s the author of SUPERMAN ON THE COUCH: WHAT SUPERHEROES REALLY TELL US ABOUT OURSELVES AND OUR SOCIETY; DISGUISED AS CLARK KENT: JEWS, COMICS, AND THE CREATION OF THE SUPERHERO; and THE ROUGH GUIDE TO GRAPHIC NOVELS.

JIM SALICRUP is the current Papercutz Editor-in-Chief. Salicrup edited the SPIDER-MAN titles in the late 80s early 90s, and is remembered for Kraven’s Last Hunt (which ran through all the Spider-Man titles, The Wedding of Peter Parker and Mary Jane Watson, the introductions of Tombstone and Venom, and launching SPIDER-MAN #1 by Todd McFarlane, the best-selling Spider-Man comic ever. Jim also wrote SPIDEY SUPER-STORIES for many years, and the Child Abuse Prevention comic starring Spider-Man.

FRED VAN LENTE is the New York Times bestselling author of INCREDIBLE HERCULES (with Greg Pak) and MARVEL ZOMBIES 3 & 4, as well as the American Library Association award-winning ACTION PHILOSOPHERS. His other comics include COMIC BOOK COMICS, MODOK’S 11, X MEN NOIR and AMAZING SPIDER-MAN.

STEPHEN WACKER started editing comics for DC Comics in 2000. Currently he is a Senior Editor at Marvel editing AMAZING SPIDER-MAN and DAREDEVIL.

After three months, we are finally rolling out our library of free superhero videos.

We realized having more than one video on a page did not work. If you watched one video, the other videos on the screen were a distraction and if you used the Internet Explorer browser to watch a video, you would receive an error pop-up window.

This didn’t sit right with us so we went back to the drawing board. We hired a programmer to figure out the error in the videos and to make the videos compatible for all browsers. We made navigation easier by showing only one video per page rather than multiple videos on a page.

With over 200 superhero videos, we welcome your feedback and hope you will show these videos to the little superhero fans in your life. The videos come from youtube, hulu, fancast and marvel’s website.

The video library remains a work in progress. We will continuously update it and we’ll blog when we add more videos such as from television shows such as Batman Beyond and the 1990s The Flash television season.

Different from the US and Canada will be shipping. UK shipping will be weight-based from 1 ounce to 10 pounds. Customers will have a choice of either USPS Standard International Shipping or Priority International Shipping. The US Post Office claims delivery using Priority International takes 6-10 business days while Standard International shipping “varies.”

Please note – not all products offered are available for shipment to the UK. If the description for an item includes “Available only within the United States,” the item cannot be shipped to the UK. Some of our products are inventoried and shipped from our fulfillment center and they only ship within the US.

We just received news from our Hallmark party supply rep that Super Hero Squad party supplies will become available in June.

We were supposed to receive news after the upcoming Party & Costume Expo that will take place next week in Houston but we think we got word sooner thanks to a newsletter we sent out to our suppliers about the demand for these party supplies. This newsletter included a link to the new facebook group we started recently called Where’s The Super Hero Squad Merchandise?

One day after the announcement of Spider-Man 4 getting delayed and re-booted, the New York Times’ Patrick Healy reported today that Spider-Man The Broadway Musical Turn Off The Dark will be delayed as well. Previews were scheduled to begin February 25th but Alan Cummings, the actor who will be the Green Goblin, revealed to the Times on Saturday this would not happen.

We called Ticketmaster to request being refunded for the tickets we bought back in June but the customer service representative told us they were not authorized to issue the refund yet. She said when the Ticketmaster website has the musical listed as “postponed” then refunds can be issued.

At the time of this writing, ticketmaster still indicates tickets for sale next month.

The Times also reported new dates for Turn Off The Dark will be announced by the producers shortly.

In a stunning turn of recent events, Spider-Man 4 went from being delayed due to a re-write of the script to changing direction of the franchise by not including director Sam Raimi (who has directed all three Spider-Man movies) and Tobey Maguire. Eonline.com reports the next Spider-Man movie will return to Peter Parker’s teen-age roots. This was also reported today in superherohype’s blog and in the Coventry Telegraph.

Is it just coincidence that this happened just days after Disney officially acquired Marvel? Did they have anything to do with this decision?
