Until recently, we used wordpress to update our news section. As you can see…we didn’t utilize it very much.

In order to make things easier, we have switched over to tumblr for news, updates, and other stuff. Tumblr is good for us because it streamlines updating all of our social media sites at once (facebook, twitter, tumblr), and connects us with all of the people using them. It’s also pretty fun to use.

Anyway, we have two new releases on the horizon – a video game soundtrack and an arrangement of a Bridges of Königsberg song. So whatever social service you use; like us, add us, bookmark us, follow us, and keep an eye out for all the updates, tweets, hashtags, smoke signals, ravens, morse code, and signal lamp action you can handle.

Hey everyone. Don’t worry, we’re still alive. We just haven’t been doing a good job of updating you all on our endeavors, which we aim to change. We’ve been very busy with a few projects, which are finally coming together. Very soon we will have lots of stuff for you all. In the meantime, here is a quick recap and update…

-Arthur’s arm was injured to the point where we could not perform/practice. After some considerable downtime to let his arm heal, he is now fully recovered and we’re back to playing shows in the Chicagoland area.

-We wrote a soundtrack to an indie RPG game coming out for PC. Lots of cool teasers and artwork on the way. The actual OST should be released in July!

-Expect other changes soon and many more updates in the near future.

Some updates/good news/bad news to keep everyone in the loop:

Bad news:
As some of you may know, Arthur has been having some trouble with his arm for a while now. Recently, he was finally diagnosed with having lateral epicondylitis – or “tennis elbow”. The prognosis is good however, and with some time and proper treatment he will be as good as new. Unfortunately, as of now, we aren’t quite sure when that will be. This also means we don’t have a solid time as to when we will be able to play shows again. Rest assured, as soon as we can, we will be back on the stage for all of you. Sioum is in *no* way done (really, let’s just get it out of the way now and say that we will never be done…or even slowing down). So now for the good news:

Because of this development, we have decided to change our focus back to writing music and promoting. Our plan:

– Aggressively write as much music as we can…
– …which could mean another album in the sort-of-not-so-distant-future.
– Another shirt design in the probably-closer-than-the-next-album-future.
– Lots of chocolate and juice.
– Promoting Sioum…which leads us to our next topic…

The last few months have been really exciting times for us. Recently, our music has found it’s way onto tons of blog and review sites. It has been really motivational for us, as the feedback has been extremely positive. To name a few:

This has all led to a considerable increase in traffic, and consequently introduced us to many new listeners. Getting our music and name out there is crucial to our success. In reflecting upon all this, we have decided to make our digital album free to download (with an option to donate). Before anything else is said, please know that it is because of your support that we are able to do this now. And of course if you don’t have “I Am Mortal, But Was Fiend” yet – now is the perfect time for you (or your friends) to grab it. Spread the news and help our music reach people!

Well, that’s it for now. Hopefully we can have some new material – and maybe some new equipment – by the time we start playing again. Until then…

So we just finished up with all of the shows we had booked in the last month. We had awesome shows at Reggie’s Rock Club, Double Door, Subterranean, Swing State, The House Cafe, and Finney’s. Thanks to everyone that made it out and all the great bands we played with.

We’re taking a small break in February and we’ll be back March 1st at Reggie’s Rock Club.

First Out of State Show!!!!!

We have been so blessed to be living up here in these northern wastes! We need to thank everyone who has helped us, supported us! December 4th marks a milestone for Sioum. Our endeavors and your support are infinitely linked as to how much we have grown as musicians, as people. Join us in Spirit!!! Or jump in a caravan and carpool over to Indianapolis! Our 1st out of state show will occur a pre-destined 21 months after our first show under codename: ‘mirrek’. That fateful day…April 4, 2009ad.

We are absolutely grateful for all the unconditional help and support God has given us through our friends, family, and others!
