In each round of festival, we receive over 100 volunteers application forms.

A Short Introduction

In each round of festival, we receive over 100 volunteers application forms. With careful screening and interview session (made possible by Melvyck, Mary Lee and Jay Lau), we find like minded individuals; people who loves to contribute their time, knowledge, their ideas for a common purpose, and also those who loves photography…

It may sounds like a stiff competition, a stringent approach towards volunteerism, or a lengthy process that may seems unnecessary, but this approach stems from the belief that nobody is taken for granted, and no individual effort is insignificant. SIPF committee members devote their time to interview just as volunteers devote their weekends, hours after works, and personal times for the festival. Ultimately, the festival is made possible by everyone who cares to give their time and effort.

The process of volunteering starts from being responsible for your own action in the team. This means doing what you promised to do, making effort together as a team, and lending hands to others beyond your own scope of duties. SIPF as a partner respect your choice to give what you are willing to do so, and this forms the basic mutual understanding among us.

After reading this short note, if you are interested to be a volunteer of SIPF, fill in the application form. You will receive a ring or a mail within a week.

Due the large number of excellent works, the curators requires more time and are still in the midst of selecting the works for the final exhibition.

Since the start of the Open Call, the 2nd Singapore International Photography Festival 2010 (SIPF) has received a total of 4,148 submissions from 46 countries.

The SIPF has been informed of the problems encountered by participants from non-English speaking countries, and issues arising from credit card payments due to different policies in various countries. There are urgent requests for assistance from more than 100 participants who are unable to proceed with the online submission. In view of this situation, the SIPF will extend its Open Call till Sunday 11 April 2010, to resolve these problems and to assist participants to fill in necessary details. Please email info@sipf.sg if you need assistance with the online submission.

The open call seeks submission in two categories.

The first category continues with the tradition of being ‘theme-less’ with the sole purpose of ascertaining original, contemporary works and talented individuals. For the second category, the festival invites and encourages distinctive artistic interpretations of the theme, Human: Nature. The duality in this theme can be freely interpreted either as ‘Human Nature’ or ‘Human & Nature’. The ‘colon’ represents a relationship and a balanced ratio between Human and Nature. The theme seeks to address universal concerns faced by our world.
