Withdraw Your AdSense Earnings

For non-us residents, you can choose to have your Google AdSense payments mailed to you via check in your local currency. Google AdSense offers this option in 42 countries. You can check with Google AdSense support center to see if your country is included in this list.

To withdraw your Google AdSense earnings via check, you need to set the payment details in your Google AdSense account. This is how you should do it:

You can buy almost anything at the best retail price and then get an added discount with Rpoints. Go to 'easy money' then 'recurring' where comparing prices with Kelkoo and others earns about 2p to 6p a click up to a max of about £1 a day. Rpoints are ultra-cautious about awarding points. They take days to check, then credit, your points and then a month or more to validate them before you can cash in. A good forum explains all this. But, once the ball is rolling and you're clicking every day, the cash rolls into PayPal at £5 minimum a time and in £sterling too so you can have dollar and sterling PayPal accounts to save on exchange rates.

Higher Payouts from 'free to join' programs.

Normally I avoid very high payout programs where it sometimes takes a year to reach the minimum by which time the site may have vanished!

You WILL get paid with these programs; about $35 to $50 a month for just these programs and there are dozens more to choose from. Join up, add to your favourites or put an icon on your desktop by dragging on a links page for each program and visit the sites at intervals through the day and earn a bit each time. It soon adds up.

Amazon Affiliate Program - Easily create a store or shopping section on your site instead of sending your visitors to Amazon. Amazon handles the shopping cart and fulfillment.
Amazon Seller - Sell your stuff on Amazon
Associated Content - If you write a story, how-to, rant, etc. you can submit it to them and they will pay you $3-$20 per article if they like it
Azoogleads - Another ad program. They do have some decent companies lined up as advertisers. You provide space, they'll provide an ad.
BidVertiser - PPC (pay per click) program with a low $10 payout amount.
Bravenet - These guys offer a ton of services for webmasters and blog owners. Although I feel like I was spammed for a while, it has ceased and they'll pay you $1 for each person you send over
Blog - Start a blog and consistently write excellent content. With good ad placement, you may make some money.
Business Opportunities Blog - I am adding this because I am a subscriber to their site and I see ideas everyday that could result in making money. A lot of the ideas pertain to online businesses. If you are an aspiring entrepreneur, it's a good reference.
Chitika - Their eMiniMalls service has shown great results for many Bloggers and site owners. You choose a keyword and they show relevant products on your site using a pretty unique interface.
Clickbank - Another Affiliate Program site with 10,000+ products to advertise
ClicknWork - Get paid $5-$150 per hour for basically doing freelance work on a per-assignment basis. You have to pass a pretty tough test to get in.
Clicksor - These are the guys that generate contextual ads on sites that show up when you hover over a double-underlined word.
Commission Junction - If you have a site, you can join Commission Junction. Once enrolled for free, you can choose companies whose ads are pertinent to your site. Companies have the ultimate say on working with you. There are easily over 1,000 companies to choose from here.
CreamAid - For blogs only, advertisers provide you with a topic and you write about it on your site. To do this, you have to install a flash widget into your blog post. The more people you bring into the conversation through the widget, the more you get paid. It's difficult to explain.
eefoof - Think of it as YouTube + Flickr + Music. You add original content and they pay you based on the visitors you attract.
Ether - If you are an expert on something, Ether provides a way for people to pay you to talk about it in a one-on-one setting. If you want to charge $250/hr, that's fine. You have to do all the advertising so you should have a blog or site already established.
eBay- Come on, you know what this is. Gather your junk and sell it!
eBay Stores - If you have a real store and want to sell your stuff online, this is a decent option to get you started.
ELance - Name gives it away. Programmers, Codes, Web Designers, Writers, Editors, can look for freelance opportunities.
Feedvertising - This is an arm of Text Link Ads and is currently only good for Wordpress 2.0 Users. This does me no good currently, but as you can guess, they place ads in your feed(s).
Feedburner - Not only are they the best place to house your feeds, they will also add ads to your feed and website. You get paid per impression.
Google Adsense - Come on, you don't need an explanation; these ads are all over the place. Google displays relevant ads based on your site's content
Google Adwords - Create simple text ads and choose keywords that determine when they are displayed. This is where the Adsense Content comes from. You do not need a site for this.
SHUT DOWN Google Answers - If you are good, Google will pay you to answer questions in your specialty. Questions all come from normal people like you and me. You can get paid $2.50+ per answer you provide.
H3.com - Get paid to fill jobs. Commissions range from $50-$5,000. It all depends on how tough the job is to fill and how desperate the hiring company is. This is another one that's tough to explain.
Indeed.com - Add their job board to your site. They then post jobs based on the geographic location of visitors and the position types you pre-select. I tried it and I they continually report that I sent 0 visitors and I know that's not right. Nevertheless, I may have an isolated problem so they make the list.
InnerSell - If you have a customer that wants to buy something you cannot sell, you can sell the lead here.
Jellyfish - This is a shopping site that pays you a percentage of the purchases made by people you refer. They are not part of a wider affiliate program so you do it direct.
Jigsaw - It's a pretty flaky model but if you have a Rolodex full of good contacts, you can sell them here. I can't make sense of it but it looks like you get $0.10 per profile.
KarmaOne - They are basically a recruiting website. If you fill one of their jobs by finding a good candidate, you'll get paid anywhere from $50-$12,000. It all depends on how desperate the hiring company is.
LinkShare.com - If you have a site, you can join Linkshare. Once enrolled for free, you can choose companies whose ads are pertinent to your site. Companies have the ultimate say on working with you. Like Commission Junction, there are a ton of companies waiting to evaluate your site.
Microsoft Adcenter - Bid on keywords and Microsoft places your created ads then they are searched for. This is similar to Google Adwords. You do not need a site for this.
Overstock.com - Sell your stuff on Overstock.com
Pageflakes - This is a company that developed a user-defined Ajax homepage to show feeds, flickr photos, and a ton of other things. Think of it as a replacement for your Google Homepage. Anyway - they'll pay you $1 per referral that you send over. They are not part of a wider affiliate program so you do it direct. This one is pretty simple.
Pay Per Post - I don't agree with this model entirely but they have advertisers that will pay you to write about their products on your blog.
Pheedo - If you have an RSS feed, run it through Pheedo. Like Feedburner, they can include ads into your feed and if you really become large, advertisers will pay a premium for you to show their ads.
Shareasale.com - I've never really worked with them but I do have an account. They are similar to Commission Junction and Linkshare however they seem to have lower tiered companies with advertising offers.
Shoemoney - This is a blog that can teach you a ton on making money online. I've spent hours reading his old stuff.
Software Judge - They will pay you up to $50 to review software.
Text Link Ads - I have never made a dime here but I know people that have. You can earn by sending advertisers to them or by selling spots on your site. You must have a real site or blog to do this - nothing on a shared domain (i.e. /blogspot).
Vibrant Media - Don't bother unless your site has 500,000 page views of text based content a month. If you have that readership, these are the guys that display bubble box ads to underlined words on your site.
West Work At Home Agent - Not entirely online but this is worth a mention because it's won awards and is very legitimate. If you are an at-home Mom or free-lancer without work, you should check this out.
Yahoo! Merchant Solutions - This is a pretty simple and cheap way to create an online store.

Choosing Keywords

The goal of choosing keywords is to build a table of keywords that can bring targeted traffic to your Web site and are often searched for, but still not so competitive as to make a top ranking next to impossible.
Start with the Web site concept that excites you the most and create your original list of keywords. Write down all the words and phrases that you think are related to this concept and can be used by people when they search for your Web site.
When choosing keywords, don't limit yourself to single words. Statistical research has shown that most people search using multiple-word keywords composed of two, or even three, words in order to get more targeted results.
Try to look at the Web site from the visitor end. Who are they? What are they trying to do? What other stuff do they look for? Figure out what problem your target market is trying to solve when they do a search. Your Web site should solve that problem.
What other keywords would they look for? Add them to your original list. You can add a whole new major direction, and income stream, to your Web site simply by thinking about your target's other needs.
Open any text editor or spreadsheet program and create three columns...

Keyword.
Keyword Effectiveness Index (KEI) - a rank based on how popular the keyword is, and how much competition it has.
Info - the kinds of Top Web sites found by Google.

How to get the right keywords
There's a remarkable online tool that will assist you in choosing keywords and estimating their popularity on the Internet.
Go to WordTracker and start the free trial. Then go to the Keyword Universe. WordTracker will guide you through 4 steps:
Step 1. Type in your first keyword, and click on the "Proceed »" button. WordTracker will display a list of keywords related to the word that you've typed in.
Step 2. Click on the first word which is applicable for your Web site concept and WordTracker will show a list of keywords which contain the word you had clicked on and the number of times they have been used by searchers (the figure present in the Count column).
Add related keywords to your basket by clicking on them, then click on the second related word in the first window. Again add related keywords to your basket. Repeat this process for each of the related words, then click the link to move to Step 3.
Step 3. Your chosen keywords appear on the screen. They are organized in descending order with the most popular first. Go to Step 4.
Step 4. Select a search engine on which you want to do the competition search and click "Proceed »". You'll see keywords from your basket along with their attributes, the most important of which is the KEI Analysis. The amount of competition is determined by searching for each phrase on the selected engine and finding out how many sites come up in the results.
Write down the most profitable keywords (KEI > 10) along with their attributes, click the link at the bottom of the page to try again, clear the basket and type in your next keyword. You may repeat it as many times as you need to analyze all related keywords.
Note:

WordTracker assigns high KEI to words with low Count and very low (or zero) Competing. Don't target these keywords. What good would it do for you to rank high for these words if no one ever searches for them? Select words with high Count (not less than 100).

Choosing the most profitable keywords
Now it's time to pick the keywords with the best profitability. These will be ones with high KEI. A low score means that either not many people search for this phrase, or that there's too much competition for it. Eliminate any words with low KEI, especially if they're not searched upon very often (i.e., Count is low).
Add the most profitable keywords along with their KEI to your table. You can return to Step 1 and repeat the process of choosing keywords and adding them to your table for each word or phrase from your original list.

Your competitors
Go to Google and search for the first keyword from your table using exact match search (surround phrases in quotation marks). Read the listings for the Top 10 or 20 Web sites, perhaps visit them and make brief notes in the third column of the table for the kinds of sites.
Repeat this process for each of the keywords present in your table.
As you review the Top sites, you may get some great ideas for content on your own Web site. You may add new relevant words and phrases to your original list of keywords or, perhaps, you may even discover a concept that is so strong that you decide to adjust your first concept, or even replace it with this new one!

The best Web site concept
If you have several Web site concepts to choose from, build the tables of the most profitable keywords related to other concepts from your list and select the best concept. Here are the factors to consider before finalizing your idea...

Your knowledge and passion - you'll be much more effective if you stick to what you really know and love.
The amount of content - for maximum success you should have 40-70 different highly profitable keywords (i.e., with high KEI). You sould be able to create 40-70 keyword-focused content pages which deliver high-value information and rank well with the Search Engines.
Broad or narrow concept - it will be harder to rank well for a broad concept with several sub-themes than if you dedicated a single Web site to a sub-theme. If the amount of time you are prepared to spend is a limiting factor, choose more narrow concept.
Profitability - review your INFO data. Has the niche high profit potential? Are there many possible partners on the Internet for building decent income through affiliate programs or advertising?

Google Adsense

Google AdSense is a new, fast and easy way for small and medium sites to make money free online by displaying relevant, text-based, un-obtrusive ads from Google AdWords (Google's own advertising program) and receiving a share of the pay-per-click payment.
Because the ads are related to what your users are looking for on your site, the results can be much better than you'd earn from banner networks and many affiliate programs.
For now, AdSense is the best way to make money free online from informational sites even if there are no obvious related affiliate programs. But you don't need to disregard affiliate programs. You can combine both these ways to make money free online and double your income.
AdSense is easy to join, it doesn't cost you anything, all you have to do is paste a few lines of code into your pages, and Google does the work of finding the best ads for them from hundreds of thousands of AdWords advertisers. How to get started

Google evaluates your site and will follow-up with you via email within 2-3 days (usually within 24 hours). If you're accepted, you'll be able to log in to your AdSense account.
Log in to your account using the email address and password that you submitted with your application, and agree to the AdSense Terms and Conditions.
Paste the AdSense ad code into your Web pages. There are 10 ad layout choices: 728x90, 468x60, 125x125, 120x600, 160x600, 120x240, 300x250, 250x250, 336x280, and 180x150. In addition to text ads, you have an option of running contextually targeted image ads.
You can choose the color palette from a long list of available palettes or create your own. You can even rotate your ads through up to 4 palettes.
The AdSense ad code is unique for your account and is not site/page-specific. You can place it on any page or site you own.

How to get the most out of AdSense

There are three obvious ways to increase your income from Google AdSense...Increase traffic.
Create more keyword-focused pages. See Building: Site Content: Choosing Keywords for more information on finding the most profitable keywords.
Increase click-through rate.
Use simple design with the AdSense ads displayed prominently. According to Google, ads in the skyscraper format works better (especially on the right side of the page). Focus to only one topic per page - that should make it easier for Google to serve up the more tightly contextual ads which means better click-through.
Increase the value of clicks.
Of course, you can't do it directly. However, you can find some "expensive" keywords and create pages optimized for them, within your site's theme. These keywords are highly competitive and you'll unlikely get high ranking for them, but visitors will arrive from other "inexpensive" pages and click on Google's ads.

Clicksor

Clicksor is easily the current leader of the small publisher Adsense competition. They have payouts upto a market leading 85% and unlike a number of alternatives the cost per click bid values are high enough that you can earn a decent income. They are also, in my experience, much more tollerant than Google. Their terms and conditions suggest that you should only place one copy of their code on a page but as long as you only place a single pop-up or DHTML code on a page they seem happy to let you place many context sensitive ad blocks on a single site.

Clicksor also has a big advantage over a number of the lower ranked alternatives on this site in that their ads are truly context sensitive. Thus while you can provide keywords they have technology that will also show ads targeted to the content of your site. This means your visitors are exposed to ads of the same subject as they were searching for when they reached your site and thus vastly increases the click thru ratio and thus your sites earning potential. The context sensitive nature also saves you the hassle of having to specify keywords for all of your sites and decide in advance what people might be looking for.

The online stats provided by Clicksor are not perfect but they are enough for you to keep track of the trends with your site. They also allow you to add as many sites / domains as you want under a single account. You also only need the root page of your site approved. Once this is done you can place ads on all of your sub pages.

The payment schedule with Clicksor is also much better geared to the small site owner. In any pay period in which your earnings exceed $50.00 ($20.00 with PayPal), payments are made either by check or instantly through PayPal ($20.00 minimum for PayPal). Revenue totaling less that $50 (PP $20) will rolled into the following period. The pay period is based on a 15 day schedule so you can get paid much more frequently. Clicksor also do not require a Social Security (SSN) or Individual Tax Identity Number (ITIN) to join and so while this 'technically' does not help US site owners with their tax liability it does make it much easier for non US citizens to join up and start earning revenue.

Yahoo are currently playing catch up to Google and are trying to release their own context sensitive advertising service. This promises to be an excellent alternative to Google Adsense but in reality is likely to be a simple copy with the same restrictive terms and conditions as Google, including $100 minimums on payouts. At present the system is still in beta test and while you can visit their site and sign up to register your interest it appears at present that they are not accepting new advertisers. In fact most applicants won't even receive a reply. Thus until it goes live and it becomes clear what type of website owners Yahoo will be targetting I can only place it in second place.

Advert wise Yahoo Publisher Network will feature:

Display ads related to the content on your site. You'll earn revenue from qualified clicks.
Integrate other Yahoo! services into your web site, including Add to My Yahoo! (RSS), Y!Q and much more to come...

Allfeeds is another alternative to Google Adsense particularly targetted to smaller publishers. They offer a huge selection of advertsing options including:

The payouts are not as good as Clicksor and Yahoo but if you have relevant keywords can be fairly good. The only real problem is that you have to get each individual page approved and provide a set of keywords for each page. This can be real time consuming and makes it difficult to accurately target your website's audience.

A good advantage of AllFeeds though, and the reason I have given it 3rd place is that their minimums for payout are small. Once you have earned just $25.00 they will send you a check. Alternatively if you use PayPal they will pay you everytime you reach just $10.00 in earnings. If you don't earn enough for payout in a given month then your earnings will simply be rolled over to the next month. It is free to join, there is no obligation, you can cancel at anytime and there are never any fees.

At first look FastClick would appear to be one of the better alternatives to Google's Adsense however, they are one of many online advertising companies that tend to favor the large customers. You'd think companies would have learnt from Google's success and accepted that the way to make money is to target both large and small. Remember Excite? They went the way of the dodo because they only targeted the top 100 companies rather than the small guys who can't afford large TV adverts and have to advertise on the Internet instead. Anyway, I digress. If you can get yourself accepted to FastClick (now called ValueClick) then you will probably be able to run some reasonably high paying adverts on your site but most small website owners will find that FastClick simply aren't interested.

Advertising wise FastClick (ValueClick) off an industry-average 65-percent monthly payout on all advertising revenue your website generates. Fastclick pays by the 25th of the month for the previous month by check or PayPal.

Something they would have to do if they earnt money through Google or Yahoo where social security numbers are required. Bidvertiser can be a useful alternative to Google and offer some intriguing ad formats including what they refer to as free design. This lets you specify the look and dimensions of your text ads. While a useful feature I have not investigated how well it works but imagine that while it sounds good on paper it could result in lower priced ads being displayed. I.e. most advertisers will probably want to keep control of the layout of their ads and so turn off support for Free design ads.

Bidvertizer pays you either in $50.00 increments by check or $10.00 increments by PayPal.

Customize the layout of your ads: BidVertiser gives you a simple point-and-click tool to help you customize the layout of the ads to fit your site's look and feel, in order to retain the high quality of your website. Bidvertizer also offers the opportunity to block unwanted ads. The reports provided by Bidvertiser are adequate but not outstanding. The only real problem is that they can be picky with who they accept into their program and can be quick to ban users whose websites show what may be perfectly valid fluctuating visitor behaviour.

Chitika

Chitika takes a different approach to internet advertizing. Instead of displaying the 'industry standard' advert boxes with text and image ads that all look the same they instead provide active boxes that show targeted products from different manufacturers. If you run a blog for example and discuss a product you may find the chitika box showing links for this product and competitors products. If people purchase these products you get a paid a commission. This is refered to as impulse marketing in the form of eMinimalls. Feel free to give it a try although I think the ideal use of this service would be as a compliment to another advertizers service. E.g. you could show Clicksor context sensitive ads on your site and then compliment these with Chitika's eMinimalls.

Best Afilliate Programs

Before you begin your venture into affiliate marketing, it is necessary to choose the right program for you. There are almost as many programs out there as there are products! First, you need to decide on a area of particular interest to you. What products do you know the most about and think you could do the best job of selling? Amazon

Amazon manages its own affiliate program instead of contracting that out to intermediaries.

RevenuePilot would appear to be a very good ad server alternative although I would be careful to take most of their claims at face value. They claim to offer the Industry's highest bid prices and largest payouts with CPC of $2.00 or more. I find these claims very hard to believe. Indeed why would an advertiser be interested in advertising with a client that essentially claims to be ripping them off. Either way the claims may be true in which case this could be a very lucrative advertising system for your website. Feel free to try it and make up your own mind

They claim that you will earn between 6 and 20 cents everytime a surfer clicks on an advertisement on your site but in reality I think you are more likely to see rates around the 0.5c to 2c range.
