WinArcardia (and AmiArcadia, the AmigaOS port of the software) is a multi-system emulator that emulates the Emerson Arcadia 2001, Interton VC 4000, Elektor TV Games Computer, PIPBUG-based machines, Signetics Instructor 50, Central Data 2650, Astro Wars, Cat and Mouse, Galaxia, Laser Battle, Malzak, Chaos 2, Dolphin, PHUNSY, and Phong systems. It’s fully featured, with load/save states, CPU debugging functionality, and a graphical user interface. The new release includes many miscellaneous improvements and bug fixes.

We’ve found it to be particularly nice for a media center – the graphics are smooth and easy to read, and control is great via a game pad and remote. Version 2 of the software features a complete rewrite that’s faster than the original and includes lots of new features. The lastes update, v2.1, addes additional features and fixes. Check it out below.

  • 'mGalaxy Runway' is back, compatible with mGalaxy v2.1 With it you can cutomize the keys used by mGalaxy.

It runs most NeoGeo games with excellent performance and a nice, smooth user interface. This app emulates the classic MVS/AES system and is based on Gngeo 0.8-svn and it requires user-supplied romsets from MAME 0.144 or similar for it to work correctly.

Currently, it's available on the Android Market for $3.99. Kind of steep – and we don't particularly like the sales of emulators based on other people's work. However, if you're looking for a NeoGeo emulator for your phone, this is the one to get!

  • Universe Bios or MVS support (Unibios recommended)

Today, Unity released a huge update to the platform and development environment. The full release details are below, with a list of the new features and improvements.

  • Automatic navigation mesh generation, path-finding, and crowd simulation.
  • Occlusion Culling has been rewritten from scratch to make baking reliable and much faster. Gates can be opened and closed at runtime.

  • Cache Server – massively decreases import times when working in teams or switching platforms.
  • Google Chrome NaCl support – the Unity Web Player plays automatically in Chrome without requiring an install.

From now on pspudb is not only a database viewer but also it scans your PSP images and list your collection. Check out their brand new forum to post your comments or recommended improvements (note: there were no posts yet at the time of this news story!).

BSNES v083 released

In just over a month, byuu has managed to get us a new version of his fantastic Super Nintendo emulator, bsnes. Bsnes v086 was released today.  Bsnes is widely considered to be the most complete and accurate Super Nintendo emulator.  With this new release, the main focus was Laevateinn, which is the new bsnes debugger. Unlike previous debuggers, Laevateinn is a standalone application with its own GUI entirely focused on debugging.  See the full changelog below.

EMU7800 v1.2, an Atari 7800 emulator, was released today. EMU7800 is for Windows and was written in .NET. You can grab the latest version from their sourceforge page. According to the developers, most ProSystem (7800) and VCS (2600) titles run well. EMU7800 runs on Windows XP SP3 and higher systems. Performance is sufficient on current hardware. See the changelog below.
