Clyde Phillips who is the executive producer for the darker than most series has spilled the beans. He hints that Dexter might not be able to stay under the radar in Season 3....

"Dexter inadvertently sets in motion a chain of events that will change his life not only for this year, but change his life forever"
But that means we won't be going over old ground of the Season 2 manhunt.

"We’re done with that, but that doesn’t mean he’s not in great jeopardy. For Season 3, we had to basically start it all over. We really had to cut [the storyline] from whole cloth."
As reported earlier Jimmy Smits is joining the cast but not as an adversary to Dexter.

"He plays an assistant district attorney who is a rising star in the city of Miami. His brother dies in the first episode and he and Dexter form an alliance. That’s basically all I can tell you, other than the fact that Jimmy Smits is going to go, I believe, places he’s never explored before as an actor."
Julie Benz (Rita, Darla [Buffy & Angel]) returns in Season Three and Phillips says:

"[She will be] pivotal to what goes on in the year and is part of what changes Dexter’s life."
But Dexter won't find his soul, reports Phillips. No networks were interested in picking up the show and the sets have been pulled down. A true shame...

It’s officially one and done for fan favorite vampire drama Moonlight. We were told today that all last ditch efforts to save the show were tried, but ultimately no takers were found for a second season. Direct TV, TNT, SCi Fi etc etc etc all passed. The sets have been taken down and the soundstage has been given over to new CBS series The Mentalist. The cast has been let go to pursue other projects. I know the CBS brass loves Alex O’Loughlin so I’d bet he lands on another project soon. Just my two cents. What CBS top rated drama could use an interjection of youth and is in need of bringing a different demo to the series?? How about CSI? One of my favourite Television Series Dexter is finally coming to Australian Television in all its uncut glory.

On the 6th of July Channel Ten will be showing Dexter which is one of the modern day gems of television which seem to be few and far between.

Do yourself a favour and give this series a go. You will not be disappointed!

Dexter is an American television drama series based on the novel Darkly Dreaming Dexter by Jeff Lindsay and adapted for television by Emmy Award-winning screenwriter James Manos, Jr.

When Miami blood splatter expert Dexter Morgan is not solving murders, he's a serial killer committing them.

Orphaned at the age of four and harboring a traumatic secret, Dexter is adopted by a police officer who recognises Dexter's homicidal tendencies and guides his son to channel his gruesome passion for human vivisection in a constructive way - by killing those heinous perpetrators who are above the law or who have slipped through the cracks of justice.

A respected member of the police force, a perfect gentleman and a man with a soft spot for children, it's hard not to like Dexter. Although his drive to kill is unflinching, he struggles to emulate normal emotions he doesn't feel, and to keep up his appearance as a caring, socially responsible human being.

DEXTER is based on the compelling novel "Darkly Dreaming Dexter" by Jeff Lindsay, a South Florida native.

Channel Ten, Wiki, Official US Site, imdb

News: Fox asks 'how was the leaked Pilot?'

News: Fringe

As tipped earlier the pilot of Fringe has been leaked online. I'm looking forward to see both of them again on the small screen.

Source: SciFi Wire.

News: JJ Abrams Fringe Pilot Leaked

We've had a few tips from readers that JJ Abram's latest television series Project entitled "Fringe" has had its pilot episode leaked online.

It didn't take much digging to confirm with many torrent search engines showing it available. An amazing 85 days before it is due to premier savvy net users are downloading and previewing the show in large numbers. Which is great news for fans of Joss Whedon. With the news of Fox's cancellation of New Amsterdam fresh on my mind I hope that they will give Dollhouse a better chance at success. But Dollhouse already had a large fan base in the wings, so I don't think I need to be so concerned.

I'm told FBC has picked up Joss Whedon's new Dollhouse (20th Century Fox TV) for mid-season. How do Moss & Roy get themselves into such outrageous situations? When attending a gay musical with a workmate who appears to fancy Jen but a few signs point to him being homosexual. Once at the musical Moss & Roy get stage fright while going to the toilet because of the attendant. We see Roy use the disabled toilet and pull on the alarm thinking it was the flusher.

I haven't laughed this hard or long in a quite some time. Brilliant writing, quirky characters and outrageous situations had me laughing nonstop for the entire length of this episode. Comedy this funny is few and far between.

I was worried that the writers may have run out of material after season 1, but they have come back stronger than ever and have set the bar very high for the rest of the episodes.

I cannot recommend this show highly enough. This is a show that you can't afford to miss.

Summary: New Amsterdam: Season 1

Summary / New Amsterdam / Season 1

"New Amsterdam started off strong with a some-what fresh idea but lacked something."
Click to read review - may contain spoilers

I really enjoyed the first few episodes of New Amsterdam, the idea was some what fresh and gave the writers had a lot to play with. We all enjoy visiting the past and seeing what was and John's 400 years gives us a lot of opportunities to do that. New Amsterdam started off really strong but fell into a rut mid season. The whole show is resting on the shoulders of one actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau who plays the lead character. The supporting cast are left in John Amsterdam's shadow with no outstanding performances.

The show lacks a strong sense of humour, which would really help pull the show together. The show is similar to Joss Whedon's "Angel" in some respects (minus the blood drinking). But at times New Amsterdam takes itself a little too seriously.

The season was cut short due to Fox and the writers strike which was another sore point for New Amsterdam. It crippled the show, not having a full run to capture an audience and left viewers brooding with a lack of closure with a story ending half way through.

Only time will tell if John Amsterdam will be able to continue his quest to find his one true love and gain mortality... If we hear the news either way we will let you know.

Review: New Amsterdam: Love Hurts

Season 1 / Episode 8 / "Love Hurts"

"Just another episode, what happened to season final?"
Click to read review - may contain spoilers

After discovering last week that this was going to be the final episode I had my hopes up for something worthy of a season finale. I find myself sorely disappointed, this episode was just another normal week in John's life, nothing extraordinary. But I think we have Fox and the writers strike to blame. As I believe that 13 episodes were ordered but the rest were canceled after episode 8. So this would explain why things were left so 'open'.

Again we get a peek at John's darker side, good to see that he hasn't used his powers for good for his entire life. His play fight with his captain was predictable, but really what got my back up was the fact that the owner of "Soulmates" couldn't smell the difference between scotch and apple juice. What this show is missing is a little streak of comedy...

There is no confirmed word if New Amsterdam will be given a green light for season two. Its disappointing that the shows creators didn't get a chance to play out their ideas for a whole 13 episode run. I really hope they had grander ideas than what we have seen so far.

The closing scene is true to form, only an immortal would walk in the middle of a New York City street...

Rant: Skins: Season 3: What we Know so far

There is very limited information about Season 3 of Skins as it is only in the early stages of planning. The producers are current holding auditions to find new cast members in the UK. As the previous cast have been axed and will be replaced every two years.

But as previously tipped: Jamie Brittain has informed us that the third season will definitely include Effy (Tony's sister).

He has also said:

"...that the new cast will be quite different from the original cast, but people may see some similarities..."
The season will also centre around a character in which he describes as "A nasty piece of work". A character from eastern Europe will take centre stage and in a interesting story arc a set of twins.

The producers of Skins are hoping to capture a new generation of Skins fans and keep the following they have built up so far. Its set to air in early 2009.
