Dad’s Belgian Waffles!

St. John Lutheran Home Foundation & Auxiliary is hosting a Dad’s Belgian Waffle Fundraiser to raise money for the employees and residents of St. John’s Circle of Care. Bring the whole family on Sunday, May 20th from 9 am – 1 pm and enjoy all you can eat waffles and sausages in the Chapel of the Good Shepherd at St. John Lutheran Home!

Tickets may puchased in advance at F&M Bank in Springfield and Morgan and at the front desk at St. John Lutheran Home.

Tickets are $6.00 in advance and $7.00 at the door for adults. $5.00 in advance and $6.00 at the door for kids 6-12. Kids 5 and under are free.

Tons of Fun!

A fun filled week was had by residents, employees and kids at St. John’s Circle of Care in celebration of the Week of the Young Child! The smell of homemade chocolate chip cookies filled St. John’s Lutheran Home while cookies were made with residents and kids.

A trolley pulled by two beautiful draft horses went through town giving rides to employees, residents and kids. One of the horses was even brought into the chapel so residents that couldn’t make it outside could enjoy the visit! It was a great week of fun for all!

Week of the Young Child at St. Johns

The Week of the Young Child™ is an annual celebration sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). The purpose of the Week of the Young Child™ is to focus public attention on the needs of young children and their families and to recognize the early childhood programs and services that meet those needs.

The Grandkids program at St. John’s is celebrating The Week of the Young Child by doing all different kinds of activities including baking cookies with residents, a field trip to the Children’s Museum in Mankato and a horse and buggy ride around the campus of St. John’s.

Pork Raffle Winners

Drawing for the Grandkids/VIK Pork Raffle was recently held and 4 lucky winners were drawn. Winners drawn were Dan Weber, Bob Lamote, Mary Mathiowetz and Mike Platz. Each winner received a Pork Bundle from Lang’s Meat Market in Springfield valued at $100.00 each. Thank you to Schwartz Farms and Lang’s Meat Market for donating the bundles.

Annual Employee Appreciation Banquet

St. John’s Circle of Care held their annual Employee Appreciation Banquet on March 26, 2012 at the Springfield Golf Club. 28 employees attended the event. This banquet honors employees who have served St. John’s for 20 years of service and over and those celebrating their 15^th, 10^th and 5^th year anniversaries. This year the staff who attended had a combined total of 501 years of service. Thank you for all you do for St. John’s Circle of Care.

America’s Farmers Grow Communities Winner!

St. John’s Circle of Care was chosen by Sherry and Ken Groebner as the America’s Farmers Grow Communities winner for Brown County in MN. Supporting the organizations that help make rural communities a vibrant place to live, work and raise a family is important to farmers and the Monsanto Fund. Farmers enrolled in the project for an opportunity to win $2,500 for a nonprofit organization in their county that they felt strengthens their community. St. John’s Circle of Care was selected as the $2,500 recipient for the 2nd year in a row!

We thank the Groebner’s and Monsanto for their generosity in selecting St. Johns for this award. We are deeply appreciative and will be putting the funds towards the purchase of a new Nurse Call System at St. John Lutheran Home.

2011 Christmas Pageant

St. Johns held another wonderful Christmas Pageant in the Chapel of the Good Shepherd on

Thursday, Dec. 22nd. The chapel was filled with friends, family, residents, children and employees

St. John’s Circle of Care was in full display as ages ranging from 1 to 97 were in

attendance. Merry Christmas and Happy New Years to you all. May you have a blessed

and joyous Holiday Season.

Advent Schedule Change

Due to conflicting Community events in town this evening, the Advent Study originally

scheduled for tonight has been moved back a week and will continue next Thursday evening.

Please join us next Thursday in the Chapel of the Good Shepherd.

Don’t forget the Cookie Walk on Friday, December 2nd starting at 8:00 a.m. in The Chapel of the Good Shepherd. If you are a parent you may bring your cookies to GrandKids by 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, if you are a friend please support us by attending the cookie walk and purchasing some yummy cookies

Advent Study starts this Thursday

Good Shepherd. Come and join the community as we see the word of God through

beautiful illuminations from the St. John’s Bible. Study runs through Advent.
