Out of curiosity, Lily Robinson, a 3 and a half years old little girl made a company alter the name of one of its bread products. Little Lily Robinson, made a letter of suggestion to Sainsbury’s, one of the largest chain of supermarkets in the United Kingdom, indicated that its “Tiger Bread” looks more like a “Giraffe Bread“. Here is a snapshot of Lily’s letter to the company:

Lily then received a reply after 2 weeks. Apparently, Sainsbury’s customer service manager Chris King wrote the letter. King agreed with confirmation to the observation of Lily by saying:

I think renaming tiger bread giraffe bread is a brilliant idea. It looks much more like the blotches on a giraffe than the stripes on a tiger, doesn’t it?

The Customer Manager reasoned that the Tiger Bread was called as such because the first baker who made it looong time ago thought it looked stripey like a tiger, so maybe they were a bit silly that time, King continued.

With his awesome gesture of appreciation of the little girl’s inquisitive thoughts, Chris inserted in his letter, a gift card present for Lily.

I really liked reading your letter so I thought I would send you a little present. I’ve put a ?3 gift card in with this letter. If you ask your mum or dad to take you to Sainsbury;s you could use it to buy some of your own tiger bread (and maybe if mum and dad say it’s OK you can get some sweeties too!)…

Those lines were followed by Chris King’s signature above his name, followed by his age in the format: “(age 27 & 1/3)”.

The letter of Lily Robinson and the customer manager’s reply went viral 8 months later. It has gotten over 150k “LIKE“s on Facebook. Thus, by popular demand, Sainsbury’s started to sell the newly named bread from the first week of February. Sainsbury’s spokesman said:

In response to overwhelming customer feedback that our tiger bread has more resemblance to a giraffe, from today we will be changing our tiger bread to giraffe bread and seeing how that goes.

According to the supermarket, Mr King after having been praised by the huge networks of Twitter and Facebook users, left the company to train as a primary school teacher.

If only all customer letters are being handled the way Chris King do it, there would be a much better relation between a company and its present and future patronizers. So far, the best and awesome customer manager reply letter in the air for good vibes and lifestyle. A must-follow, so to speak.

Today, February 7 marks the 200th birthday of the famous English novelist Charles Dickens. He is considered as the greatest in his field during the Victorian period. He is known to have the widest popularity among his contemporary authors; Hence, considered as the responsible talent for some of the known English literature’s most symbolic novel and characters we have known ever since.

Charles Dickens was born under the official name Charles John Huffam Dickens (7 February 1812 – 9 June 1870). His writings were mostly published serially, in a monthly installment basis. He developed one of the very important elements of writing style known as the cliffhangers – a technique where a reader or audience will keep on looking to the next installment of a passage or story. Dickens was also known for his “realism, comedy, mastery of prose, unique personalities and concern for social reform.”

On 8 June 1870, Dickens suffered another stroke at his home, after a full day’s work on Edwin Drood. The next day, on 9 June, and five years to the day after the Staplehurst rail crash 9 June 1865, he died at Gad’s Hill Place, never having regained consciousness.

Charles’ last words as reported in his obituary in some national news were allegedly the following:

In a fight where the super bantamweight title is at stake, Filipino Flash Donaire toppled down his Puerto Rican opponent Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. over a 12-round bout on Feb. 4 (Saturday) at the Theatre of the Madison Square Garden, San Antonio, Texas. Congratulations to Nonito for yet another pump into his going steady boxing career.

While Donaire vs Vazquez boxing fight results is of course a delight for the Filipino boxing fans, followers and enthusiasts, Nonito expressed his disappointment over his performance in the fight. He must have prepared something or he could have finished the fight better than what had transpired this weekend. So “The Flash” hinted that, he and his team will be back to the drawing board.

Donaire vs Vazquez fight was an undercard in the World Boxing Council middleweight title fight for the reigning champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and Marco Antonio Rubio at the Alamodome.

One of the top highlights of Donaire vs Vazquez is the 9th round where the former dropped the latter with a left uppercut followed by a left  hook. Prior to that, the Puerto Rican fighter tried his best in the 5th and 6th rounds but Donaire stayed on top of his game and eventually took home the win.

As of this moment, Donaire’s boxing stat improved to 28-1 with 18 knockouts, while Vazquez fell to 21-2-1 with 17 wins inside the distance.

So what’s next for Donaire after this?

I’m definitely staying at 122 (pounds) for awhile.. I’m not happy with my performance today … We will go back to the drawing board.
