Skin cancer occurs when skin cells are damaged, for example, by overexposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun. (...)

Skin cancer occurs when skin cells are damaged, for example, by overexposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun. Between 95 and 99% of skin cancers in Australia are caused by exposure to the sun.

Types of skin cancer:

1) melanoma – the most dangerous form of skin cancer
2) non-melanoma skin cancer.
a) basal cell carcinoma
b) squamous cell carcinoma

Skin cancer comes in two forms, melanomas and non-melanomas. Melanomas usually account for only four percent of diagnosed skin cancers, but they are considered to be the most deadly.

There are four stages of melanoma that classify the severity of this skin cancer. Each stage pertains to the thickness and the amount that the melanoma has spread. When the stage of melanoma has been diagnosed, it is then possible for the doctors to determine the best type of treatment. In this article, we will discuss what the different stages of melanoma signify.

Stage 1 of melanoma is thin and the epidermis usually appears scraped. This stage of skin cancer is subdivided into two other categories. These additional categories describe the thickness of the tumor. Stage 1a is less than 1.0 mm and has no ulceration. Stage 1b is less than 1.0 mm but has ulceration. It is also considered to be in stage 1b if it is 1.01 – 2.0 mm even if it does not involve ulceration.

Ultra violet radiation emanating from the sun accounts for the majority of skin cancer. It is therefore one of the leading causes of skin cancer. UV rays, the other name for ultra violet radiation are said to come from the sun. The sun’s energy is made up of two components which are the visible and invisible rays.

Skin cancer prevention is preached by medical professionals all over the United States. This is no surprise given that the Cancer Research and Prevention Foundation reported more than one million Americans were diagnosed with some form of skin cancer in 2005.

Preventing skin cancer is often associated with older generations, but today you see more teenagers and young adults spending excessive amounts of time in the sun. Without the proper protection, our society could see a surge in skin cancer diagnosis.

The skin, which turns out to be a woman's pride, is always part of her vanity ritual. (...)

The skin, which turns out to be a woman's pride, is always part of her vanity ritual. This ritual involves the use of every imaginable soap or lotion ever invented to pamper and keep the skin silky smooth. Almost every pampering method is exploited to lavish care and attention on the precious skin. That is why when a woman develops skin cancer, her world is totally crushed and her self-esteem is immediately shattered.

A skin cancer is a cancer that results in the overproduction of harmful cells on the skin. This cancer is usually detected by looking for a pigment called melanoma. Signs of skin cancer include a sudden change in the appearance of the skin or the presence of wounds or sores that don't heal. The two most common forms of skin cancer are asquamous cells and carcinoma. These two are also better known as non-melanoma skin cancer. There is an estimated 1,000,000 new cases of non-melanoma cancer in the United States for this year alone.

Skin cancer occurs when the UV Light (Ultra Violet) from the sun damages the DNA in skin, causing skin cells to mutate and grow into cancers. Although sunlight is very important, it keeps us warm and it allows skin to manufacture vitamin D which is essential to metabolic processes that leads to having strong bones. On the other hand, the UV light found in sunlight damages the DNA in skin, causing its skin cells to mutate.

People who are at most risk or likely to get skin cancer are those people who spent a lot of time outdoors. People who engage in frequent outdoor activities like mountaineering, rock climbing, hiking, working in the farm, or fishing are thought to be predisposed to skin cancer. Urbanites who fancy spending their weekends on hot tropical island getaways are also at risk.

Generally when a cancer is found, it is removed through surgical means and it's only in advanced cases that the use of chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy is considered. Another least common type of skin cancer is the melanoma which is mostly a common skin cancer in men and women between the ages of 15 to 44 years old. Melanoma is a cancer of melancytes- and usually looks dark brown, black or blue-black. It can looked flat or raised. It can look as a patch of normal skin like a mole or a freckle. Some signs of this cancer include:

1. A change of color (much darker than before)
2. Bleeding
3. Itching
4. A mole appears for the first time when you are already over 30

PREVENTING SKIN CANCER AND OTHER SKIN CARE TREATMENT TIPS

l The sun is at its peak between 10 am to 4 pm and so try to seek the shade or bring a hat or umbrella with you if there is no place that you can seek as a cover from the heat rays.
l Use a sunscreen always with an SPF of 15 or higher when ever possible
l Use a UV-blocking sunglasses.
l Examine your skin, look for some slight changes.
l When in doubt seek help from a skin professional so you can take some skin test.

The overall outlook is that you can prevent skin cancer. If you suspect that your mole is cancerous, let a well-trained doctor examine it right away or visit a dermatologist.

When the sun is sitting high in the sky many people set off for a day at the beach to cook their bodies in the sun. We know now that exposure to the sun could cause us serious harm to our skin.

The general public already know that they should wear sunscreen when they go outside. However , few people actually apply sunscreen each time they leave the house. Typically, we only think about putting on sunscreen when we are expecting to be outside all day. We have all heard the alerts to wear sunscreen and avoid too much sun exposure. Unfortunately, younger people have a tendency to disregard these warnings and do not think seriously about skin cancer.

No matter how young or old you are , you need to take excellent care of your skin. Unnecessary exposure to the sun will lead to break finally even if it doesn't appear for a few years. Therefore , you need to forestall damage from the sun when you are young so that it won't become an argument when you're older. Many steps can be brought to limit or forestall sun damage.

We frequently only consider applying sunscreen when we are expecting to be outside for many hours. However , we don't consider it when we spend shorter amounts of time out of doors. Your skin is exposed to the sun's rays each time you are outside, even if you're simply walking to work in the morning or taking a breather outdoors during the afternoon.

In general, you need to shield yourself from the sun by applying sunblock with an SPF of 15 or more on all exposed skin. Additionally, the sun is strongest between 10 AM and 3 PM. Therefore , you shouldn't go outside unnecessarily during those hours. The summer isn't the single time you need to watch your exposure to the sun. In the winter and fall, you can still get too much sunlight. Sunscreen should be worn all year round.

Keep your sunscreen reapplied throughout the day particularly if you've been sweating or swimming. Reapply each two hours to be safe. Children need additional protection. As you can't apply sunscreen to youngsters under half a year of age, you should limit their exposure to the sun while they are vulnerable.

Keep babies covered with clothing and hats to restrict their exposure. The delicate skin of kids and babies is extraordinarily subject to damage and is going to be protected especially punctiliously. Babies are extraordinarily exposed to skin cancer and sun.

getting a diagnosis that you have skin cancer is mostly taken very hard. You most likely do not know what you can do next as decisions hare hard to make in such a worrying time. (...)

getting a diagnosis that you have skin cancer is mostly taken very hard. You most likely do not know what you can do next as decisions hare hard to make in such a worrying time. Fortunately , the chance of you surviving skin cancer is generally excellent as long as it was detected early.

When you catch skin cancer early, you can have it removed and stop the cancer before it has an opportunity to take hold. Be certain to be pro-active about keeping skin cancer in check. When you find it early on, you have a good chance of defeating it.

In the initial phases of skin cancer you will learn if you have a non-melanoma or a melanoma skin cancer. The skin cancer early signs for these two cancers carry a very good prognosis for survival. It is kind of uncommon for a basal cell carcinoma to advance past the second stage so that the prognosis is glorious if this is the form of skin cancer you are working with.

If you have been diagnosed as having a melanoma skin cancer it can and does spread beyond stage I and II if it's not stopped. When it is located in stage I and II the survival rate for a melanoma over 5 years is almost a hundred percent. If it is found at stage III the survival rate drops to 60%. This is a large drop and shows the importance of early detection as the most important cure for melanoma skin cancer.

It's fully urgent to check your skin on a constant basis at least once each month for signs of skin cancer. You must also see a physician regularly so that your skin can be inspected as a part of your routine physical. If you perceive anything suspicious on your skin you need to get it checked by a doctor immediately, especially if you have a discoloration or mole that looks to be changing shape and or color.

If you have got a wound that doesn't heal, be certain to let your physician know about it. Ask your physician what melanoma skin cancer looks like. Armed with this knowledge, you will know what to search for when you do self exams. It is vital that you be ready to identify any skin cancer you find.

Skin cancer early signs can be comparatively small in size, about the size of a pea, and progressively grows bigger. Eventually other organs will become involved as the cancer progresses thru the body. Once this happens the survival rate will drop and other forms of treatment, aside from removal of the cancer, will be mandatory.

In radiation treatment of skin cancer, X-rays are used to destroy the cancerous cells. Many visits to the doctor will be needed for a cancer to be utterly eliminated. A fair amount of time is required. Radiation treatment is utilized against skin cancers that return many times or don't make a response to any other form of treatment.

Radiation is not a preferential treatment for skin cancer. In some cases no other treatment will work. There are many cases in which the patient's condition and other factors will require radiation treatment to be used against skin cancers. There are a few reasons why a patient afflicted with skin cancer may seek radiation treatment. One likelihood is that the patient has inherent medical or health risks that would prevent them from other sorts of treatment.

The area where the skin cancer is either too giant or in an area that's not conducive to treatment with surgery are other reasons that radiation treatment might be sought. It is always possible that a skin cancer has been treated but is reoccurring frequently.

This type of treatment has been shown to have some success for difficult skin cancers. In patients who were experiencing a 50 percent reoccurrence of their skin cancer the radiation treatment dropped that number to twenty five percent.

There are some risks to treating skin cancer with radiation, however. You may develop new skin cancers in the area that surround the areas affected. If the skin cancer reoccurs after the treatment it could be that much harder to treat because of the radiation. And you may experience damage to your healthy skin in the same area.

Radiation treatment of skin cancer carries some significant side effects. These include loss of energy and appetite, hair that falls out, and persistent skin redness. These side-effects usually last no longer than the radiation treatment.

If you are brooding about this type of treatment for your skin cancer, chances are your doctor has gone over these side-effects and possible risks . You'll need to consider your own situation extremely carefully to figure out if this is the right course of treatment for you. Skin cancer radiation treatment won't be your only option and you must ensure that your doctor has gone over every other potential answer.

You have to know some warning signs that will enable you to see early-stage skin cancers. (...)

You have to know some warning signs that will enable you to see early-stage skin cancers. You should be aware of any bodily changes that occur, especially if your moles and other skin discolorations begin to change. By paying close attention to any changes impacting on your body, you increase your odds of early, accurate detection and successful treatment.

If you find a growth on your skin that suddenly appears or changes in its size you should have it checked out by your doctor. This is particularly true if it is see-through, tan, pearly, brown, black or has multiple colours. This could be one of the early signs of skin cancer and you could have it checked as fast as possible so you can get it treated and dealt with while it's still in the initial stages.

This is a potential sign of an early-stage skin cancer. You need to have it examined as quickly as you can so that it can be dealt with and eliminated before it gets too major. To be certain that your skin cancer self exam is performed correctly, you need to make note of any moles or punctures that you have had for an extended time period. Make sure that they have not changed in shape or color, a couple of the biggest signs of skin cancer. When doubtful, check with your surgeon if any suspicious paradoxes are found to establish if skin cancer is present.

Keep a watch on injuries or cuts that may not heal. This is one of the early warning signs of cancer that should be watched. You likely notice if you've got a cut on your skin that is simply not healing. Have your doctor take a look and if they feel there's a reason they are going to test for skin cancer.

You have to know the telltale signs of skin cancer so you can define if you have got a problem. Having the ability to detect skin cancer signs early is vital for maximum protection. The simplest way to stop skin cancer is to protect your skin by covering up under the hot sun and using a suitable suntan lotion.

Stay clear of the sun in the sun's strongest times between the hours of 10 AM and three PM. This is the period when the most harm can be done if you are exposed to the sun without any protection.

You must learn how to protect your skin from damage, and to realise early signs of skin cancer so you can act to protect yourself before things get too bad. Continual vigilance is required to keep your skin healthy and to stop any Problems from becoming too bad to simply treat.

Cat’s Skin Cancer

Feline cancer is one thing that the owner of cats needs to have in consideration. This condition propagates throughout the body and may be fatal in the majority of the cases. The quick expansion of this disease makes the treatment difficult and the recuperation possibilities very low.

This extension process, which is call metastasis, is one of the primary reasons behind the early death of cancer. It’s a common knowledge that the skin is the largest organ on the body, and for such reason is the one where cancer in more common. The known skin cancer is a classification of several types of tumors, and this includes any abnormal and uncontrolled growth of cells like, on the skin, the skin glands, hair follicles etc.

Metastasis, that appears on the skin, as result of cancer from other parts of the body, is not call skin cancer because it was not originated on the skin. On cats, skin cancer is possible, especially on older cats between the ages of 6 to 14 years old. The known causes for this type of cancer are; the light skin color or white skin, Exposing the skin to much to the Sun Rays, Feline virus of immunodeficiency.

Skin cancer appears under the skin like boulders, or lesions that never seems to get better. Then this creates the scratching behavior of the affected area. Detecting the skin cancer is relatively easier comparing it to other types of cancer, because the symptoms are readily visible. For example, to find cancer on the liver in a dog it is a tedious process of observation to identify multiple symptoms.

Regularly, you need to check your cat’s skin to be able to identify symptoms of: Tumors under the skin, any defects, scummy areas or change of color and any other abnormality, also check for color changes in the cat’s eyelids, in the lips, and inside its mouth. If your cat is white or its nose and ears are white, you can minimize the risk by protecting your cat from the sunrays.
