A small poem I wrote for the United States Speaker of the House John Boehner about the necessity of compromise in the current debt ceiling negotiations in Congress that are coming to a crescendo to the deadline on August 2nd.

Mayhaps, at the least, his email-reading intern will have a chuckle.

I did not think that I would be writing a post with "Google" and "not for me" in the title.

There comes a time in every illustrator's life when they begin to obsess about type (well, maybe). And I don't mean looking at fonts, of course, I mean drawing the hell out of typography. Seeing what hand-crafted letterforms can flow from their traditionally-image-trained pens.

On April 22nd, 2011, thesis came to an end with a presentation before an audience of my fellow soon-to-be-graduating seniors, faculty, friends, and visiting professionals. The 2-month-cobwebs on my blog are pretty good testament to how heavy of a workload I've been buried in these past few months, and now that it's over, I'm trying to catch up on basic life functions, like eating, sleeping, and Gmail.

I saw this quote on Washington University's Arts & Sciences homepage like a slap upside the face with an iron glove, upon having trudged back to my apartment after meeting with my German 1 professor to tell him that I can no longer be in the class.

I'm a double-major at Washington University, in art and computer science. Two majors in 4 years across such different disciplines meant that

I would have a full course-load every semester

I had to take summer classes and apply for academic credit for internships to finish on time

every course I was to take had to be something that counted for either of the majors

What it also meant was that at no point in any semester would I be able to say, "Hey. That course on Existentialist Themes in German Literature looks interesting." or "Whoa... a course on Dracula? Totally want to take that!"

So what? Lots of people don't even have clean drinking water. I'll get over it. Right?
