It was a warm evening and dinner was running late.

Sidewalk chalk it is.

Dinner ended up being even later than planned

after I saw the beautiful light outside and grabbed my camera.

Love their little hands grasping the huge pieces of chalk....

this is a detail I want to remember.

Pics from this past Monday, where Seattle hit the mid-80's aka CRAZY HOT.

Seattlelites don't waste sunny days - no, we cherish them and then desperately beg them not to leave.

I was laughing at the bare ice cream shelves and empty ice fridges in the grocery stores this past weekend - I'm pretty sure 90% of the Seattle population ate a popsicle sometime this past week.

I know I ate one. Or three.

In any case, we had a blast watching the girls play in their kiddie pool and get sprayed.

Our neighbors probably appreciated listening to the piercing screams (of joy) coming from our backyard.

We kept spraying them, they would scream, and then we would tell them to "Stop screaming, the neighbors can hear you!"

And then we would spray them again.

Fun times all around (except maybe for our neighbors).

Looking forward to our next crazy hot day and more fun in the sun~!

A little expedition to UW.

Start off with a few jumps - check.

A visit to the Quad - check.

Noelle ignoring our requests to NOT pluck the flowers - check.

Hitting up Red Square - check.

Eating sprinkle (Noelle pronounces it 'finkle') ice cream on the Ave - check.

Discovering random pieces of art on campus - check.

Quality family time - check!

Loved walking the grounds of UW and reminiscing about college days with Tim!

( And Noelle keeps asking for more 'finkle ice cream' ... I think that was the most memorable thing for her lol)

Baking Party

A few shots of Naomi's 6th birthday party taken last month!

She asked for a baking party and had a blast making pizzas and decorating cupcakes with her friends and family.

She actually drew a picture of what she wanted her apron to look like, even choosing the details like the blue flower and the color red....the look on her face when she saw it in real life was priceless.

Thankful to God for six wonderful years with her~

Tim and I have a bit of heartache at seeing her grow up so fast,

but we are so incredibly grateful for the privilege of being her mommy and daddy.

We love you so much Naomi!

One of our favorite places to go together.

She always manages to find a stick...

and get down and dirty in the sand and water...

...and let's not forget the ducks...

But because my worst nightmare

is to have a thousand hungry birds mobbing us

and pecking our eyes out,

I always tell you they already ate lunch.

Sorry kiddo.

By the way, she told me she was building the "DisneyWand" castle with her pail and shovel.

I love the zoo.
And I also get sad at the zoo.
I think it's all the animals that are living in small spaces that gets me depressed.
Tim tells me they've probably been born and raised in zoos so they don't know the difference.
Plus the zoo does a great job at educating people on conservation efforts etc.

Anyways, I digress.
My girls love the zoo.

Everytime we go, we usually don't get to see every single animal - and after we leave, the girls always list off every animal they didn't get to see..."Mommy, we didn't see the red panda. THE RED PANDA MOMMY, WE DIDN'T SEE HIM!" And for days after the zoo trip, we would hear all about the red panda we didn't get to see.

Naomi wants to be a veterinarian when she grows up and loves reading all the little facts about the animals. I even got her a book from the library on "How to Become a Vet" which she seriously studied.

Noelle just wants to:
1. See the python (which she pronounces "Pie-Thong")
2. See her otter friends - and by otter friends, I mean the metal statue otters that are displayed near the otter habitat, not the actual real live animals themselves. (Why am I not surprised?)
3. Ride the carousel as many times as she can get away with (again, fake horses, not real animals - again, not surprising)

Today, I saw that we had a 30% chance of rain - which is pretty much the forecast in Seattle EVERY SINGLE DAY - so I decided to take Noelle to the zoo. Afterwards, she was telling Daddy about the new animal we saw - the crane. When Tim asked her to describe it for him, she said, "It has a wong neck. Just like Mommy".

Seriously, I love the zoo.

Playing in a real backyard (little N calls it "the garden") is quite a luxury after living in an apartment for the past 3 years! It's been sprinkling here and there but we decided to hop out to kick the ball around, play with the rocks, and get some fresh air.

In other news, another recent family session I shot is up on the the GH KIM blog~
Capturing families and little ones never gets old - I love what I "get" to do!

Dear Noelle,

Today we went to a park together.

You called me "The Man" and had me pretend to award you a medal

every time you went down the slide.

I was instructed to shout, "You're the WINNER!!"

and pin a pretend medal on your chest.

We did this about seven times in a row.

And each time,

as I shouted with as much enthusiasm as I could muster,

and pinned the medal seven times,

you squealed with delight and said,

"I'm the WINNER!!"

and then you climbed up the ladder,

and slid down again.

And again...

And again....

Today you taught me that doing the same thing

over and over again

need not be a boring thing,

if you do it with

passion and joy.

Little N has a BFF and it's Blankie.
Blankie goes everywhere.
She has begun to fray at the edges, worn from begin dragged on the floor, tossed and pulled, and generally from being loved well. I wanted to fix the fraying corner, but little N insisted that Blankie stay JUST the way she is...and "insisted" is an understatement.

Anyhow, I know that at some point, we will need to wean her from her friend. But this is the Blankie that wrapped around her as a newborn, cushioned her falls as a waddler and faithfully followed her into the messiness that is three.
I think I realized her attachment to Blankie had gone too far, when she insisted on bringing her into the pho restaurant this past Sunday. The pho smell...oh the pho smell.

Anyways, decided to take portraits of little N and Blankie.
I never thought I would take portraits of a blanket.
This is what motherhood does to you.
Motherhood is awesome.

Ringing in the New Year in their traditional Korean dresses

It's been three years since the girls have greeted their grandparents with the traditional bow - this is Noelle's first time....as you can tell, she was excited. She even insisted on wearing her princess tiara, even though big sis kept telling her, "Noelle, it's not even Korean!"

Now off to my parents to celebrate in the Japanese tradition with some ozoni (mochi soup)!
