Skybox PVR option TS vs PS Record

In the afternoon I tried again to do the recording process, this time to get the best quality of satellite TV broadcasts that have the HD version of MPEG4 or H.264.

Do this steps:
1. Changing the Video Format System screen TV into 1080p_50 or 1080p_60 depending on the type of TV you have (this setting uses LED TV).
2. Provide sufficient USB stick, at least 4GB
3. Doing setting PVR Settings.
- Select the PVR Information, select PVR Set (Blue button on the remote), then select DVR Type= REC & TMS, then exit.
4. Select PVR Setting. then select DVR Type= REC & TMS.
- Select Timeshift = ON, PS Record = OFF, And Exit button twice.
5.Press Record Button on remote control Skybox.
Notes:
If you select PS Record = Yes, it will display messag on the screen.
"Only record HD channels in TS."

Which means you will not get maximum results. So must choose Record PS = NO (same as TS = Yes).

Which is better TS or PS? What do they mean and which one is better?
In teori File Extension TS stands for Transport Stream. It is a communications protocol for audio, video, and data specified in Section, MPEG2 1 Systems (ISO / IEC standard 13818-1). It is also known as ITU-T Rec. H.222.0.
TS file extension is a container format that encapsulates packetized elementary streams and other data. The design goal is to allow multiplexing of digital video and audio and to synchronize the output. TS file extension offers features for error correction for transportation over unreliable media, and is used in broadcast applications such as DVB and ATSC.

Program stream (PS or MPEG-PS) is a container format for multiplexing digital video, audio and more. PS format defined in the MPEG-1 Part 1 (ISO / IEC 11172-1) and MPEG-2 Part 1, Systems (ISO / IEC 13818-1 standard [6] / ITU-T H.222.0 [4] [5]) . MPEG-2 Program Stream analog and similar to ISO / IEC 11 172 coating system and it forward compatible. Flow program used on DVD-Video discs and HD DVD video disc, but with some restrictions and extensions. VOB file name extensions and EVO respectively.

PS vs TS Record Setting
I tried to record the same PVR and have been trying to record in both modes TS and PS mode. It does not seem to make much difference except some PS files when viewed on my PC (windows media player) does not play any sound.

All files recorded TS, played well on my PC. The files can be split into 1GB files that record 30 minutes in TS mode and 35 minutes in PS mode, so there is not much difference in terms of storage storage. BTW, all files play well with PVR / TV.

Not that I plan to see plenty of footage on my PC but I thought I'd play it safe and just keep the default mode for the current TS (PS record = off in the tools menu). Also, if you have a choice PS = on then every time you start driving record something it asks you if you want TS or PS, which is a bit of a pain.

As an aside, do you know what to timeshift recording options (on / off) in the tool mean? I have Timeshift = ON and seemed to work well. If I change the timeshift to record = on I did not notice any difference but maybe it does something like the record to a file so that I can look at it later but I can not see how to use it. Back to basic instruction manual.
