Whew. I posted another vlog. I think the angle has improved, and the phone camera is no longer pointing to my chins. 😂 Anyway, it’s about the credit card deck that I built in order to match the one card that I had wanted to get, but unwilling to pay the annual fee.

I had wanted this to be less than 7 minutes long, but I kept digressing. Sorry about that! I really aim to have 5-7 minute videos. They’re less taxing on disk space. And I like this podcast-like format that doesn’t require a lot of editing. (Heck, this simple editing took me half a day, and that’s just for fixing timing. In the end, I just went “eff it” when I couldn’t get some parts right.)

Also: someone please teach me how to get rid of the airconditioning ASMR on DaVinci Resolve, please. HAHAHAHA!

Oookie, I tried vlogging this time. I first published an introductory video (yesterday) in preparation for how I’d vlog about my new Maya Black card.

Oh my gosh, this is hard. The editing part drove me nuts, and it’s so difficult to talk spontaneously because my mind goes into different directions. Plus, I hated watching and listening to myself REPEATEDLY while editing. Obviously, I used Canva.

I have no dreams of becoming a 21st century influencer. My time ended in the 2010s, back when people were still reading blog posts religiously. 🤣

Next time, I’ll probably just do slideshows with very minimal ME exposure.

Funniest thing about being a credit card holder for decades is me not knowing my credit score until recently. Back in the day, I’ve always thought that Philippine banks followed a different format from US banks. Apparently, TransUnion PH became a thing in the last decade (2011), when BDO, BPI, Citibank, HSBC, and Metrobank teamed up with Chicago-based TransUnion. So yeah, I’m actually pretty lucky that my delinquent credit cards happened during pGMA’s time, and not during this time. Now, even fintech banks like Maya submit their records here.

Ok, you might ask, why is knowing your credit score important?

Those who had been following my posts since the time I cut one of my oldest credit cards back in 2014, to the time we had to let go of a condo we bought (without waiting for Maceda law) and went back to renting, and to the time we finally did commit to buying a house, you guys will probably notice that there has been a shift in my mindset.

In 2014: I had already cut all my credit cards and only kept ONE card. The one that BPI gave me for being a loyal banking client (I did not apply for this). The cards that I cut, from oldest to newest:

This a the continuation of my previous post. I actually wanted to write more about how my view of credit cards have changed in the last couple of years, but that’s quite a long story, so I’ll just concentrate on part of how I decluttered my finances.

You saw how I backed up and moved all of my websites from paid to free services, so that I could move funds elsewhere. That’s all with the help of Gemini Plus. Well, Gemini Plus also helped me figure out which cards are best used for what.
