HAPPY NEW YEAR!
I'm pretty sure, I wasn't the only one who had a wild 2016. Much as I'd hate to use an unoriginal description, it really had been a roller coaster ride. It's why this year, I won't be doing my annual goals thing. I hadn't been mindful of my goals lately (except maybe for the "finish at least 2 projects a year" thing), and just let 2016 lead me to wherever. I'm actually thankful Doc B Lapahttps://plus.google.com/108483623064656180501noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13718855.post-73662235230368973062016-02-14T16:32:00.001+08:002016-02-14T16:32:48.054+08:00Bedridden on Valentines 2016
I did something really thoughtless yesterday that had me bedridden for nearly most of the day. Thank goodness, I managed to prepare a simple fare for my indoor v-day date.
This is wagyu burger (baked with mozarella cheese) and a side salad. Actually...it looks more like a salad with a siding of wagyu burger, haha!
Anyway, yesterday, I completely forgot that I had PMS and went above and Doc B Lapahttps://plus.google.com/108483623064656180501noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13718855.post-88000174815343739272016-02-08T12:14:00.002+08:002016-02-08T22:29:42.109+08:00Gamified apps for weight loss, no crash dieting.
I have blogged several times about shedding December fat and so far, this is probably my healthiest tweak on my routine. Just to summarize, I have had a knee injury since 2012 and would develop a foot injury called plantar fasciitis every time I go 5 pounds beyond my normal weight. In the previous years, I have done intermittent fasting and sticking to carbs with low glycemic index.

I started using MyFitnessPal at the start of the year 2016 but I won't be blogging about that until I've gotten the results I wanted. One of the things I like about it, though, is the fact that it gives me a rough estimate of the nutritional value of the things I cook. So now I know what kind of nutrients are inside this Oats Arroz Caldo that I made for breakfast.

Oh, no! Yet another hair post! Haha! Ok, lemme just warn you that this is probably the only blog post of mine that has too many photos of my face. Ick. (I really dislike seeing myself in photos.)
Anyway, I guess it will always be hair issues for someone like me who has lived with a head of unruly curls her entire life. But I've lived with it and considered it part of who I am.

Whew. It has been a long long while since I actually blogged. August 2015, to be exact, and it was a recipe. In any case, I had loved my 2014 so much that my goals for 2015 have actually been whittled down to SIX.
Because I am running a video game development studio, I have no choice but to be social, haha. So that's no longer one of my yearly goals. What remained are the following...

I actually don't really like French toast because I normally find it too greasy, but since I love my ceramic pan, I gave it a go.
This recipe is for a highly acidic person like me. I try to avoid a lot of things that could trigger an ulcer attack so I have replaced many ingredients that are normally used for French toast.
Ingredients:
1 egg (I used cage-free)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

I had been dragging my feet about renewing my expired passport for over a year now, but mostly it's because I get the heebie-jeebies at the thought of dealing with government offices (synonymous to long lines, gossipmongering at the counters and what have you). The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) and the National Statistics Office (NSO) haven't failed me yet, but I wasn't sure if 2015's Doc B Lapahttps://plus.google.com/108483623064656180501noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13718855.post-65223526705331460232015-07-12T20:58:00.000+08:002015-07-12T20:58:50.688+08:00Homemade Hot and Sour Soup
Last weekend, I was sick for about three days and had a craving for hot and sour soup. Unfortunately, my favorite Knorr hot and sour soup doesn't seem to be available in the market now, so I opened up YouTube and looked for the recipe closest to how I remembered it. (I don't eat pork so I avoided channels that had pork in their recipe.)
Anyway, there were some ingredients in Everyday Food's Doc B Lapahttps://plus.google.com/108483623064656180501noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13718855.post-44120152574837689122015-02-14T22:40:00.001+08:002015-02-14T22:40:45.281+08:00Valentines means having fun at home.
It's typical for teenagers to be so fascinated by Valentines' so it wasn't a surprise when my students asked me about it before our class started.
Students: Doc B, how are you spending your Valentines?
Me: Working in front of my computer.
Students: But shouldn't you be spending it with the one you love?
Me: Exactly.
But that's a joke. I normally do not want to go out of my cave, and especiallyDoc B Lapahttps://plus.google.com/108483623064656180501noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13718855.post-41768827628478949092015-01-15T19:43:00.005+08:002015-01-15T19:59:53.964+08:00Indie Game: A Bird Story
Another super backlog. I played this game last year, before I resumed production on my own game (hence the delay in writing this blog entry). A Bird Story comes from the creators of To The Moon and its ending gives a bit of a clue on who's going to be the protagonist for TTM's sequel.
Hmmm... How do I blog about this game and tell you about it without giving away the story? Because that is Doc B Lapahttps://plus.google.com/108483623064656180501noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13718855.post-92206786815931719052015-01-02T14:46:00.002+08:002015-01-02T18:04:02.486+08:002014 Year in Review
Since whittling down my goals to 8, I feel like 2014 has become one of my best years ever. I mean, sure, it had snags (megalomaniac ex-lessor included), but the rewards tripled after that experience.
I've decided to make my 8 goals permanent every year. They're flexible enough to keep me motivated in reaching them on or before the end of the year. So these are the status of my 2014 goals:

For those who are already aware of what Uber is, you can skip down to the list of things I learned about it.
For those who don't, here's a simple explanation: It's a ride-sharing service that lets you and your friends book a private vehicle to take you anywhere within Metro Manila. This review is for all the sequels following Millennium: A New Hope by Indinera Falls. The reason why I thought I should place them all in one space is that I played Millennium 2 to 4 for two days straight. In fact, I finished 2 to 4 in one day. Millennium 5 took me quite a few days of grinding, though.
The sequels are:
Millennium 2: Take Me Higher
Millennium 3: Cry Wolf

In a nutshell? Video games as ART.
And I'm not talking about graphics art.
I confess: this review should have been written 8 months ago. But it had inspired me so much to work on my own game that I had completely forgotten to blog about it. To The Moon's creator, Kan "Reives" Gao, has just released a short game A Bird Story, and I was immediately reminded to write about this beautiful indie Doc B Lapahttps://plus.google.com/108483623064656180501noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13718855.post-17462563540548018272014-09-08T11:31:00.001+08:002014-09-08T12:44:56.450+08:00Mobile Game: Run Run Super V
This is one of the three Pinoy games I had been looking forward to in the next two years (also because the second book I'm writing is related to it, har har). When Altitude Games first announced the formation of their company, I was ecstatic. If you had grown up watching sentai shows, you'd see why:

I had been looking for short indie games to play to keep me relaxed when so many stressful things are going on. I found Happy Birthday on Steam Workshop while I was at it. Instead of a title screen, let me start off with a trailer, just to give you guys an introduction to the indie game Chronicles of a Dark Lord: Episode 1: Tides of Fate.
It's ironic that I use RPGMaker (RM) as one of my tools in making games but Tides of Fate is probably the only RM RPG I was able to finish. Another long overdue review. Hehe. But I don't really feel so bad since Ubisoft's Child of Light has become so popular for being breathtakingly beautiful. And I mean it in every sense of the word: Child of Light is beauty beyond compare. It's not even just about aesthetics anymore. The story, simple though it may be, and gameplay are just as lovely.
