Okay, to the butt monkeys who keep cold calling me and leaving voicemails twice a day. There’s a reason why I’m not calling you back. There’s a reason why I will NEVER call you back. It has to do with your voicemail, which starts,

“Good morning, my name is Butt Monkey from XYZ Corporation and I’m calling you to discuss the synergies which exist between our organizations and how we might leverage them…”

Those are weasel words, Butt Monkey. Those are weasel words to disguise the fact that you suck at marketing so badly, you can’t say in plain English what you want, which, after digesting your message and mentally shitting it out of my cranium, boils down to: “we’re a recruiting firm that can’t find jobs to fill, and we’re really hoping you’re too stupid or too lazy to realize that paying us 30% of a candidate’s base salary for our meager services is a jack. Please call me back so I can keep my job.”

That’s the message you left, Butt Monkey. Now fuck off.

Slacking is a State of Mind

People hear slacking and instantly think bad thoughts and that isn’t right.

Slack can add to the creative process, the business brainstorm and the all around mental stability of oneself. How’s that for early morning random brain slurpees dropping on ya?

What I mean is that if I kick back and think about things. If I fidget. If I go for a walk just to get up and out of my office for a little while it doesn’t mean that I’m not being productive. Yes, I’m slacking off, but at the same time it gives my mind time to relax and thing. Facing the computer monitor all day and the flurry of IM’s, e-mails and video files flying at you is a bit insane. You need to slack to maintain sanity.

I’m not sure where this is going, but I wanted to get a post up here. To get some content open for debate and conversation. Plus, I’m just waking up and not ready to jump into the crayon pool just yet because there are too many cobwebs on the brain at this moment in time.

See, slack has a purpose.
