I don’t like hot. I make no mystery of this on this here blog. Summer is my nemesis. Heat is my foe.

There are very few things that I like hot. Most food is one of them. Everything else? Better be bordering on frigid.

The weather around these parts has gotten… toasty lately. I don’t care for toasty. Even with our window unit air conditioners, I have issues with the heat. Because there are times I have to go to parts of the house that don’t have air conditioning. And some times, (gasp) I actually leave the house. And that’s when it’s real bad because I feel the rays of the sun just boring into my skin and the heat heat heat just bearing down on me. Just thinking of how it feels makes me wince. If there is a breeze, it is more like a blast furnace than cool refreshment.

It would appear, poor thing, that Evie has inherited my intolerance to heat. Her room, like the boys room, is one of the ones that doesn’t have any air conditioning. We may have to fix this. Because last night she slept horribly. She’s been having problems for the last week, waking up and crying. Last night, she didn’t wake up and cry, thank goodness. But I could hear her tossing and turning and moaning all night long. And then she was up as soon as it started to warm up this morning (8, when she might normally sleep till 9) (yes, the room darkening shades are making me spoiled). It’s fairly obvious that she doesn’t care to be too warm when she’s trying to sleep.

Just like her mama.

She’s a hot sleeper anyhow, and I’ve known this about her for a while. I’m the same way, which is probably no big surprise. She often wakes up from her naps, drenched in sweat even if it’s not very warm. Her hair turns into a riot of curls from the dampness. So you take a hot sleeper and add in a hot bedroom and you’ve got a recipe for misery. Poor thing.

Unfortunately, there’s not much we can do right now. We can’t exactly afford to run out and buy another window air conditioner at the moment. I’m not above setting up a pack n’ play in our room (where there is a window unit, thank god) and letting her set up camp there until we start getting some cooler nights going on.

My big question right now… is how she and I both are going to survive Orlando in AUGUST. Also wondering: why the heck do I live in NEVADA?

Like a great deal of this nation’s population, I had intentions of seeing “Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince” yesterday. I’ve been waiting for this! Watching the trailers and reading the magazine articles and counting down the days. I told Kile under no uncertain terms that we would be going to the drive in on opening day to see it.

If you’ve been around here any length of time at all, you know that the drive in is how we see movies these days. As we have no babysitters/family/friends or anything to watch the kids for us, if we can’t take them, we don’t go. And taking them to a regular theater just ain’t gonna work. Because unlike quite a few people these days, we actually care about the people around us. I simply would not subject them to Liam AND/OR Evie at this stage in the game. So the drive in it is.

We love the drive in! First run movies, cheaper, and either from the comfort of our van or enjoying the evening breeze from our camp chairs. The kids love it! It’s exciting and something different. It’s an adventure!

Last night we showed up about an hour early to sit outside the gates. Even so, we were about sixth in line. We got in, parked, met with friends, bbq’d some burgers and hot dogs for dinner, hung out and enjoyed one another. Then the movie started. Along with about fifteen different previews. Holy moses, yo! But the movie eventually began and I was just starting to get into it. Evie had just started to nut up and Harry had just gotten to Hogwarts (after getting a sound beating from Malfoy). Then?

Pffffttttttt…….

The screen went black, the sound went to static and I went, “WTF??”

They blew a transformer. Even the stoplight outside the drive in was out. Can I get a “GAH!!”?

On the way home (because dood, the show was over) (they gave us free passes though), I joked to Kile that it was the air conditioning that did it. Yesterday was the hottest day so far this year (you know, at least until TODAY) (or TOMORROW… 100, gah!). Someone up in the projection booth got hot and said to themselves, “Dang, I’m gonna turn on the a/c! It’s sweltering up here! What could happen?” Famous last words.

I swear, the air conditioning is 90% of why the power goes out here in the west during the summer. Because who wants to be hot? I sure don’t!

Then again, I would have liked to have seen the rest of the movie too. Apparently it wasn’t as simple as flipping a breaker. The transformer blew so the power company had to come out to fix it. We would just figure on trying again tonight but we have no idea if they’ve fixed it or not. And calling the information line yields no results, but maybe later in the day.

In the meantime: NO HARRY POTTER FOR ME! WOE! That’s just not right. Am sad now.

Gosh, is it Tuesday already?? What the heck? Why am I losing large chunks of time all the time? And DON’T say it’s cuz I’m old. Cuz then I’ll be forced to smack you over the head with my handbag, you young whippersnapper.

***

So the sixth Harry Potter movie comes out tonight at midnight. I want to see this movie. We’ve kinda slacked off in the drive-in department lately, mostly because nothing much good was playing in June so we got out of the habit of going. The last we saw? Transformers. We didn’t even go see Ice Age 3. I think the general attitude was: “Meh.” Which, yeah… who really wants to see Ice Age 3? I sure don’t. But that’s never stopped us before. We usually go to the drive-in just to GO. What movie is playing is sort of beside the point.

But I really wanna see Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. I’m not one of those quasi Harry Potter fans who don’t even bother to read the books. I read them all! More than once, even! I’d like to see it tonight at midnight but… yeah no. Unless I took Harry with me. And he has school so that wouldn’t work so hot with a 2 hour and 33 minute movie on a school night that starts AFTER midnight.

The best option is going to the drive-in tomorrow night. Also a school night, but with a movie starting roughly around 9, would be home slightly sooner. So what if Harry has school the next day? So what if Kile has work? This is HARRY POTTER. This is bigger than school and work.

Damnit, I’m putting my foot down. We’re going. And that’s final. Just suck it up, boys.

***

My children are monkeys. That is all.

***

Our big Disney Extravaganza is next month. Like in WEEKS. It’s getting close. I’m still scared, but mostly about the traveling to Florida component. I think the rest is going to be a blast and a half. But two toddlers and luggage and car seats and strollers and airport security? BE STILL MY HEART. Has anyone done an air trip like this before and if so, HOW. We’re flying Southwest. On the way out, we stop but don’t have to get off the plane which has GOT to be a plus, right?

I have a feeling this will be the death of me.

***

I think Evie just ate something quite possibly non-edible. Uhm…

***

The overwatering of the grass continues! Kile is starting to think maybe he should turn down the sprinklers a hair. You think? There’s almost seven hours between the noon and evening waterings and the ground doesn’t even get 100% dry. And that’s through the hottest part of the day!

The water conservation police are SO gonna have our asses.

***

My left hand is misshapen and sore. I’m turning into a crone. I blame the knitting.

***

And yet, I insist that I am NOT OLD.

Oh and GET OFF MY LAWN, punks!

Phase 2 of Operation: Backyard is complete!

See, our backyard (such as it is) is something of an optical illusion. It looks smaller than it actually is. Even us, who KNOW this are often surprised by how big it actually is. Or so says Kile who slaved away laying all this grass by himself. To give a little perspective, this is how it looked when it was delivered to us Friday morning:

I asked Kile how much square footage of grass we have back there now? He said 1300 square feet or so.

That’s like a HOUSE, people. That is HUUUUUUGE. And we now have that much grass in our backyard. And so begins the frantic watering that one needs to do to establish it safely. And after the grass is allowed to “settle” for a few days, then we’ll let the kids have at it. Harry is already looking forward to running through the sprinklers on a hot afternoon after school.

Phases 3, 4 and 5 (with sub-shoots off each, I’m sure) will consist of: repairing the back fence, supplementary landscaping such as trees and bushes, and a concrete patio between the grass and the house. Not necessarily in that order. And not necessarily anytime terribly soon. But it’s coming! We have a plan! The dirt and tumbleweeds will not win the day! So help me god!

I think we’ve given up entirely on fencing the entire yard, though maybe we haven’t (I’m usually the last to know these things). The yard actually extends up the hill in the back, but the builder only fenced to the bottom of the hill, for whatever reason. I’m okay with not extending hte yard because that would be just yet MORE yard to have to do something with. And I’m rather sick of it at this point, you know?

But yay! Grass! Woot!

As referenced in this post here, I was a guest vendor on a “congo” over on Hyena Cart yesterday. I was very excited and nervous about it. I have my own little Hyena Cart shop, I pretty much only sell slots on my customs list and maybe the occasional stitch marker. It doesn’t get a lot of attention and I get most of my customs from my message board pals. I was nervous about stocking something already made. Would anyone actually WANT it? Or would it be a spectacular fail?

It wasn’t a fail. Far from it. I’m stil in shock today. I sold the shorts I made right away, sold both of the customs slots I stocked and the auction on the skirt I made is currently at $170. This, quite literally, blows my mind. Unbelievable.

***

Liam’s birthday was a RAGING success on Tuesday. He had a great day, which I think is the best thing we could have done for him. Liam really responds to the gift of “quality time”. We picked up Kile from work to go to Evie’s 15 month pediatrician appointment and he took the rest of the day off. We went to Chuck E. Cheese for lunch (which was like crack for that kid, he LOVED IT). After, we ventured next door to Toys R Us to spend some birthday money from his grandparents. He walked out with a ride-in toy car (that we literally have to keep out of sight in the garage or we will never get him out of it), a “Cars” pillow for his bed (that he keeps trying to cart around with him) and a couple more “Cars” cars to add to the ever-growing collection. This was on top of all the “Cars” stuff that we got him as presents. We did a little shopping before heading home and after playing hard for a couple hours, we all went to McDonald’s for dinner: Liam’s favorite restaurant. Then it was home to cake and ice cream and presents.

What a great day! And what a lucky kid!

***

As I said, Evie had a pediatrician appointment on Tuesday. She’s doing great and had a fabulous time ripping around the room in her diaper while we waited for the doctor.

She comes in at 50% for weight and 40% for height. Yay for my average girl! She did have to get a couple of shots, which she did NOT like. And, quite frankly, they made her a Crankapotomus for the next day or two. So far, she seems fairly genial today, so I hope that means we’re in the clear. Whew!

***

I can’t blame any crankyness on Evie’s part on lack of sleep these days. We got a room-darkening shade for her window this weekend. Her room gets the bulk of the morning sun and since the sun is up at an ungodly hour these days, she was waking up rather early. And I always got the impression that she was still tired but she would NOT go back to sleep.

With the shade up? She is sleeping in until at least 9am EVERY DAY. Now, this may even out after she gets used to it… but for now? OMG, I love it. It keeps her room a little cooler too. The boys have a shade too, but theirs is “light-filtering” which means it doesn’t make it darker at all. However, Liam is a fantastic sleeper and I never have to complain about him getting enough sleep or waking up too early.

I just LOVE having some time in the morning to get some things done and have peace and quiet. I better enjoy it while I can, because who knows how long it will last!

***

I recently discovered “Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman” was playing on the “Gospel Music Channel”. I didn’t even know we GOT that channel, but apparently we do. I used to watch “Dr. Quinn” back in high school and it was something my friends and I would giggle and talk about. We even passed notes about such subjects as “courtin’ and sparkin’”, Sully’s braid, and our dislike for Matthew’s girlfriend, Ingrid. Good times, man.

Now, watching these episodes again, takes me RIGHT back to those days in high school and hanging out with my friends. It’s been a wonderful walk down memory lane. I’ve been DVRing the episodes and watching them while the kids are napping or at night after they’re in bed and Kile is playing his computer game.

Oh the memories!

***

We finally got some strollers for our trip to Florida next month (gulp!). It’s feeling more real all the time that this trip is actually going to happen and I’m scared stiff. I know it’s going to be loads of fun. But the plane trip scares me. Mostly, the fact that we’re doing a plane trip with two small children. And that one of those children, Evie, doesn’t have her own seat booked. So she’s on my lap. CROSS COUNTRY. This is not good, my friends.

The airport(s) and the plane trip are easily what I’m most nervous about. I think once we get there, we’re all going to have a marvelous time. I’ll have the almighty Jesus Phone (read: the iPhone) with me, so hopefully I’ll be able to post quick updates and snapshots here and there.

Oh and pray I don’t blind anyone at the pool when I wear a bathing suit with my pasty, white skin.

***

We’re getting SOD tomorrow! SOD!! This is HUGE!

We’ve lived in this house for over 5 years now, and just NOW are finally getting something of a landscaped backyard. The sod will be delivered at the crack of dawn and Kile plans to get out there and lay it before it gets hot. I sure hope he isn’t expecting me to join him. I’ll cheer him on in spirit, as I’m sleeping soundley in my cozy, cool bed.

Seriously though, this is a great thing! The kids will be able to run through the sprinklers at last (we’ve always been reluctant to do this before because the front yard is so exposed and the grass patch out there isn’t terribly large) (or flat). And the dogs will have some place to crap! SIGH. Oh well. The good with the bad, yes?

The next step will be to pour a cement patio (I have NO idea when this will happen, only that it’s the plan so far) and to buy some trees and plants and such to finish stuff out with. But the grass? That’s a huge chunk of it.

***

So that’s all I’ve got to say. For now. Are you glad I shared?

Today is Liam’s birthday. It’s been three years since that wonderful, AMAZING day where he was born. I can say without hesitation that it was the best day of my life. Even now, thinking of it brings a big smile to my face.

It has been a wild and crazy three years with little Liam in our lives. He’s the sort of child that will NOT be pushed to the side, that will NOT be not noticed, that will NOT be just your average “middle child”. He quite deftly marks his place in our lives and it’s all we can do to just keep up with him.

He’s a ball of energy, a life-force to be reckoned with. It’s easy to forget that he is small and just as frail as the rest of us. Because he’s a “tough guy”. I’ve never seen a child fall down quite as much as Liam does. And mostly, he picks himself back up with a yell of “I’m okay!” and he’s back at it again.

Three is the age I dread. He’s already such a handful, that I’m afraid of having more heaped on my plate. But at the same time, I have to admit, this new age and maturity has been kind of… FUN. He’s talking more, doing more and actually even listening more. Still, I don’t want to make it sounds like he listens to us often. Just more than NEVER which is how he was before.

He has great capacity of cruelty when it comes to his little sister. He sees nothing wrong with running up to her and smacking her on the head, pushing her over, tripping her as she takes her first toddling steps and stealing toys from her on a whim. I get the impression that he feels entitled to rough her up a little, seeing as she just waltzed into his life and took his position as “baby”. Plus, she is JUST a baby, she doesn’t need that doll/sippy cup/car/book. Liam finds himself in “baby jail” (aka the pack n’ play) quite often because of this.

He also has great capacity to love. Perhaps, he’s the most loving of all the kids. He’s the most likely to run up to you in the middle of playing to give you a spontaneous hug and kiss. Despite the frequent brutalizing of Evie, he shows a great deal of concern for her when she’s unhappy. And he just idolizes Harry, following him around like a puppy dog and clamoring for his attention. He’s a papa’s boy at heart and would quite happily go off to work with Kile every day, just to be near him. His favorite place to hang out in the mornings is on Kile’s lap, sippy cup in hand and stuffed dolphin tucked under his arm.

He loves cars. Like most boys his age, Hot Wheels cars are his vice. And the movie “Cars” is arguably his biggest obsession. He would watch that movie 24/7 if I let him. I have a strict “1 ‘Cars’ per day” viewing policy. It’s adorable to watch him get so into something. His fondness for Disney comes next and for months now he has been able to identify the Disney logo. And while no Disney movie is quite as fabulous as “Cars”, it still is a cause for celebration. And I may be scared of traveling across country with this wild, ball of energy, but the look on his face when he first sees Disney World and the cruise ship will make it all worth it, I am sure. I literally cannot wait to see what he thinks of it all. What will he do when face to face with Mickey Mouse himself? The child’s head might just pop off his shoulders.

This isn’t a terribly eloquent post and it’s hard to be eloquent about a child like Liam. He’s a do-er. He’s a mile a minute. He’s a lot of everything in a small package. And quite simply, I cannot imagine our lies without him. Quieter and more peaceful, perhaps, but also emptier.

So happy birthday, Liam. I can’t believe how fast you’re growing. And I look forward to watching you grow some more.

I love a good, long weekend. And this weekend was good. And long. Productive, yet enjoyable. Yes, we had a great time despite NOT seeing fireworks yesterday. Can you believe it?? Turns out you can celebrate our nation’s independence WITHOUT fireworks. I know, I was shocked too.

See, I love fireworks just as much as the next fella. What I DON’T love are insane crowds of people. I don’t love these crowds even more when I’ve got two small children in tow who are generally zombies after 9pm. Rancho San Rafael generally puts on an awesome show. It’s a bit closer to home and we have ways of enjoying the show without having to get hip deep in people. And then we can make a quick escape and get home without having to fight traffic. But, thanks to the shit economy (which I blame BUSH for cuz it’s so much fun), there was no Rancho fireworks this year.

We’ve tried the fireworks show over in Sparks in the past. And while we had a good time, the mere NOTION of trying to duplicate that event makes my blood run cold. And not just the mad throng of people watching the show… But the fighting traffic to get home. It was a nightmare. So if that’s what it takes to see fireworks in this town? Sorry, but I’ll pass.

I must be getting old. Once upon a time, mad throngs of people and horrendous traffic were part of the fun! It was exciting to be a part of the crowd! To be where the action was at! I remember, years and years and YEARS ago going to downtown San Jose to watch fireworks and afterward, driving over to Ls Gatos where the Brazillian socvor teams was ripping it up every nughr. That was the summer the World Cup was in the Bay Area and Brazil’s parties night after night had become the stuff of legend and news stories.

It was great.

I remember the streets being PACKED, shoulder to shoulder wth people laughing, drinkng, singing and having a great time. It was a lot of fun.

But the thought of doing that now? Sorta makes me want to scream. I like spending time with family and friends, barbecuing, telling stories, laughing and setting off little fireworks in the backyard. That sure beats having to fight traffic, if you ask me.

And it’s not like we won’t be seeing any fireworks this year. It’s officially one month until our big Disney Extravaganza and I have it on good authority that there will be fireworks every night. Yes, even on the cruise. So it’s not like us (or the kids) will be deprived or anything.

Cough. Where was I?

Oh yeah! The weekend. I had fun. It was long. Now it’s over. That makes me sad.

Next up: Liam turns 3. GAH.

It’s been a few days longer than I would like since I’ve posted. But as the title to this post indicates, I have a good excuse. Or rather, a couple good excuses. Or maybe they’re only good excuses to me because I feel like I need an excuse. Which may not even be the case because the two people who read this site might not even care that I haven’t posted in two days. In which case, these aren’t excuses but rather that annoying buzz in your head, like a bad fluorescent bulb or something.

Anyhow. Where was I?

Oh yeah! My excuse(s):

1) The internet was kaput on Wednesday. HIGHLY frustrating. Apparently Charter (I love them so) (not) was upgrading their equipment or something on Wednesday morning. The only thing is that once they were done fixing their stuff, I still had no internet because something or other had to be fiddled with on our cable modem. And I’m pretty stupid when it comes that sort of thing. So I had my phone. And my knitting. I could check email and do basic internet functions. And YES, I suppose I could have written a post from my phone about how I had no internet or something. But no one likes to read about people who have no internet. It’s boring.

Oh… wait…

Ooops.

2) Wednesday night, once Kile was home and fixed the internet, was busy, busy. We went to the drive-in to see Transformers (at last). It was a great night ot go and we all had a good time, even though Evie went thermonuclear midway through. She’s officially reached that age where not being in bed at bedtime is a criminal offense. Still, I got her knocked out eventually. And the movie was a lot of fun.

What would I do without the drive-in? I ask you! Oh and I also did some knitting.

3) I’ve been knitting a lot. Surprise, surprise. I’m going to be a “guest vendor” at CongFu on this next coming Wednesday and that means having a few items (like the one in the picture above) to stock. I’m kinda excited about it but not really expecting anyone to want my stuff all at the same time. Anyhow, it means I’ve been knitting any chance I get for the last several days. Let me just say: This is going to be some CUTE stuff. I won’t be entirely heartbroken if they don’t sell because that means I can keep them for my own. Muahaha!

4) Thursday was a busy day as Kile took the day off (hurray for a four day weekend!) and we got some shopping done and just basically had a good time. It meant not a lot of time spent at home though. I did take my knitting with me so I could work feverishly in the car. But we went and spent the rest of one of Kile’s gift cards, raided the Carter’s outlet store, bummed around Target (I seriously want to live there), went to Kohl’s and finally found Liam some sandles, had dinner at Texas Roadhouse which I’ve decided is my new BFF and then finished up our monthly grocery shopping trip (the one I started on Tuesday) at Walmart. WHEW. All that and we were able to get the kids home and in bed on time. I think that deserves a medal.

So those are my excuses and I’m sticking to it. Now if you’ll excuse me, I have some knitting to do.

Dear lady working the counter McDonald’s inside the Walmart Supercenter in Northwest Reno:

I need to give you a little background before I discuss what went down between us this afternoon. See, I was at the store alone with my three kids. This isn’t probably a big deal to a lot of moms, but it’s a HUGE deal to me. I hate leaving the house with the kids by myself. But we’re out of food at home and I pretty much had to go. I timed the trip specifically. So that we could be home by lunch and the kids could then get their naps. I also timed it so I could easily grab lunch at McDonald’s before going out to the car. We could take it home and eat it there. Easy peasy! This works for us because for whatever reason, the drivers-side window on our minivan won’t roll down. So drive thru’s are difficult and there’s just no way that I’m getting all three out of the van to go into some joint just to order lunch. I’m not THAT crazy.

That’s the beauty of a McDonald’s inside Walmart. I can swing by on my way out to the car and grab lunch to take with us, easy. This was my plan.

Of course, my youngest was rather unhappy. She was tired and hungry and thirsty and just plain tired of shopping. I was looking forward to getting her a sippy cup full of lemonade to keep her happy for the drive home. Maybe a fry or two to tide her over. So yes. She was crying. Loudly. She was past being humored. I had done that moments before while in the checkoutline. We just needed to grab our lunch and go.

But it wasn’t that simple. Becasue apparently your card swiping machine was on the fritz. And whomever you were yelling at in the back didn’t care enough to come to the front to help you out. And I think you got flustered. And you asked if I had cash. No, if I had had cash, I would have paid with that upfront. I don’t carry cash. I don’t like to carry cash. It makes me feel itchy. I prefer to deal with debit cards. And you had several of these swipers. But I guess if one goes down, they all go down.

Did you say nicely and apologetically to me, “I’m sorry, but I’ll have to cancel your order then”? Nope! You chose to holler out to whomever is in the back, “Cancel that order! She doesn’t have cash!” This was for the benefit of everyone in the line too, who was now staring at me and my crying child. My oldest had already taken his cup over to the fountain to get his soda and you snapped (yes, SNAPPED), “I need to have that cup back now.” This was while I was already telling him to bring the cup up. He got flustered and confused and started to cry. Becasue I had promised McDonald’s as a reward for making it through shopping without makingme want to slit my wrists. And now he had done something wrong?

Nope, but he got snapped at anyhow. At this point, I was so angry, I didn’t stay and tell you what I wanted to say. I left as quickly as I could, all the eyes in the vincinity upon me and my kids as we hurried, shoulders hunched, out of the store. I wanted to ask you, “Can you please be a little nicer? I’m just a mom. And I’ve got my hands full. I’m sorry I don’t have cash on me, but a LOT of people don’t have cash on them these days. You don’t have to announce my business to a restaurant full of people. You don’t have to snap at me and my son. I understand if you’re feeling pressured, but that’s no excuse for losing your manners. You are PAID to provide a service to customers. And today, you just lost one.”

Next time, put yourself in your customers shoes. Maybe stop for a second and see that the mom with the three kids is just trying to hold things together and maybe give her a little consideration. Just because we’re busy doesn’t mean we need to lose our humanity.

And I will be hard pressed to step foot in that McDonald’s again. Not as long as you’re working there (and you have been there quite a while… I see you there almost every time we’re at the store). There are plenty of other fast food restaurants nearby that I would rather go to now. I was HUMILIATED and shamed and I did not a damned thing wrong. My kids were upset that they weren’t getting McDonald’s for lunch and they didn’t do a damned thing wrong either. Thankfully, there is another McDonald’s located just across the street and we were able to go over there. I made do with the broken window by opening the car door. Not ideal but at that point, I had promised my kids and I was going to live up to it. Even though all I wanted to do was go home and crawl under a rock and die.

Oh, and thanks for reinforcing why I don’t like to leave the house with the kids alone anymore. I was starting to think my mistrust of people in general was misplaced. Guess not!

Love and Kisses,

So summer weather finally found us. I guess that’s the best excuse I can find for not updating since WEDNESDAY. I should have my WordPress taken away from me. Truly shameful.

But seriously. I hate this hot weather. HATE. IT. It just magnifies my intense dislike for Reno right now. As if I didn’t have enough other reasons to completely loathe living here, now Mother Nature turns on the heat.

We went to explore the Legends shopping complex over at the Sparks Marina yesterday. It’s sort of an outdoor mall (but in my opinion, kicks the doors off the Summit Sierra which I pretty much detest just on principle) with lots of great shops, most of them factory outlet stores. Like the Carters store. I will be going back there this weekend. And it will be amazing. The jammies alone had me turning cartwheels in the aisles.

The only drawback? It was so freaking HOT. And for some reason, where we’re located, when the sun really gets going it just burns through and sears your skin. The elevation? The dryness? WHO KNOWS. But it sucks. I hate it…. hate hate hate hate hate it. And everytime I see the weather man on TV gleefully forecast yet more scorching days ahead I want to drive over to the television studio and kick him in the head.

I don’t like living here. I feel it amplifies everything that is frustrating in my life right now. I am so isolated and so hot and so tired and pretty much everyone who lives here sucks ass. I’m sorry if you live here and feel you don’t suck ass but this is my honest assessment. There’s just enough people crammed into this valley that everyone starts going all “Lord of the Flies” when they are out and about. People drive like lunatic assholes. Crowds of people embrace the mob mentality and everything becomes “every man for himself.” Rudeness prevails. Doors aren’t held open, people cut in lines, inconsideration is the order of the day. Put miserable hot weather on top of that and I HAVE HAD IT.

I used to kind of like living here. Yeah, that whole feeling is GONE.

There. Is that enough whining for a Monday? I sure hope so. I pulled out all the stops. I even feel a little ill about it, to be honest. But everyone knows you can’t start off a Monday properly until you’ve bitched and moaned about something. Up to and including Monday itself. I feel I covered my bases. But just for good measure:

Monday AND Reno can BITE ME.

I feel better now.
