Water Rail, Slimbridge. This must be about the most expensive bird image I have ever taken. While I was photographing the bird from the hide, some thieving tealeaf came into the Willow Hide at Slimbridge with a group of people, and stole my binoculars that were on a shelf behind me. What shocked me most, was that the people who had come into the hide, were in the age range 50 - 75. I had always thought most people interested in nature & wildlife tended to represent what was best in people, but no, apparently not, they are just like any other group in society. Disappointing that. Best keep your eyes open for thieving old gits!

Redwing. A flock of 50 or more have been feeding on Beech nuts in Alexandra Park, in Bath for the last week or so. They are winter migrants from Northern Scandinavia and Russia and the smallest member of the Thrush family. Normally you only see them out in the countryside, and they only come into towns when it is really cold. I used my car as a hide and fortunately they came quite close.
