Barack Obama VS Thomas Jefferson

If the people cannot trust their government to do the job for which it exists - to protect them and to promote their common welfare - all else is lost. - Obama

Every government degenerates when trusted to the rulers of the people alone. The people themselves are its only safe depositories. - Jefferson

We have real enemies in the world. These enemies must be found. They must be pursued and they must be defeated. - Obama

Conquest is not in our principles. It is inconsistent with our government. - Jefferson

The Government is Not Your Friend

Since people don't like reading or studying history they'll probably never figure it out, but for those of us that do read and learn it should be stated that the government has never been, isn't now, and probably never will be your friend. All throughout history governments have always usurped power and stripped people of their freedoms. There is a reason why the American Constitution was constructed with a number of limitations of the government.

The Term "Adult Content" is Totally Misleading

I think it's funny how we have the word "Adult" for pornography and sex. It's not okay for children to be led astray with this type of material, but it's okay for adults. That makes very little sense to me. Adults are grown up enough to lose ethics and moral? Adults are somehow able to be less disciplined than children? Adults are grown up enough to buy off others and treat them like slaves? Because it has the word adult it is okay to be crooked and undisciplined? If anything it should be the other way around. Adults should be the example.

How To Be The Next Metallica (Or any other good band)

I see people all the time talking about starting a band or trying to take their band to the next level. While I have not started a band myself I have studied the situation for a while and have some pointers that I think would be helpful for anybody serious about becoming a sensation like Metallica. It seems like there are many things people just don't think about or understand that are key to doing what Metallica did. Here are some things I've found and what I would do if I was to start a band:

Write good music

Making A Stand - Doing What's Right

Throughout history the majority of people have been followers rather than leaders. As a result, there are more people less likely to make a stand than those that do make a stand. Making a stand is harder than not making a stand because it requires a set of values. And having a set of values is hard because it requires work.

Just Because It's Social Online Doesn't Mean It's Productive

I find it kind of funny how caught up most people get with social sites like Facebook and Twitter. Socializing is cool and everything, but I think most people forget that just because you're socializing online doesn't mean you're being productive.

The same way going around and socializing with friends can waste a lot of time in everyday affairs, the same can be said in the online world. Just a thought.

There's No Such Thing as Black and White

We live in an age, and I suspect this doesn't just belong to our age, where everything is fast, easy and black and white. Our current reality is one of low research and shallow thinking. Most of what we know we have been told by somebody else and they too were told by somebody else. Our small little world is built upon a black and white view of reality, that things work these ways because science says so, that there is only 1 right way to do things and that anybody else who disagrees with "democracy" is practicing an inferior form of government.

Communism VS Socialism - Does It Matter?

I find it extremely sad and discomforting how everyone across the world, including Americans now, is totally cool with socialism and thinks it is the government of the future. This same group of vehemently opposes anything that even has a hint of communism mixed in with it. Russia is evil! All those commie Chinese are bastards! Socialism? Yeah, sure where do I sign up?

Do What You Want To Do

This may sound a little backwards and out of line, however in most cases you should do what you want to do at the time.

You should have main goals and work towards those, but of those goals there are usually lots of smaller tasks that all add up to the whole. Of these smaller tasks you should do the ones you want to do at that time and work on other ones at a later time. Maybe you're in a more creative mood, do the creative task. Maybe you're not in a creative mood, do the rote task. Maybe you're burned out. Do tasks from another goal of yours.

A Degree In Entrepreneurship

These days you hear about people going to college and getting degrees in various fields of study with the hopes of finding a good, solid job. The sad reality is that less and less of these college graduates are able to find work and it is only going to get worse. To me the answer is clear: we need more entrepreneurs and less employees.
