Senior Sergeant Garry Smith told The New Zealand Herald that alcohol was a possible factor. “It appears a party was in full progress when a young male decided to place a firework between the cheeks of his bottom and light it,” said Smith. “What must have seemed to be a great idea at the time has backfired, resulting in the male receiving quite severe and very painful burns to his cheeks, back and private pits.”

After the explosion, the paramedics were called, but the man decided to drive himself to the hospital before they arrived.  His burns were serious enough that police believe he will have to be flown to a burn specialist which indicates he was seriously burned.

Besides the humiliation itself, the man could face a $282 fine since fireworks can only be legally set off on what’s known as Territory Day which is July 1st. Territory Day is when the region celebrates their anniversary of being awarded self-governance.

Moral of the story: Don’t mix alcohol, fireworks and your butt.

The measurements were based off the ancient measurement of the cubit which is the length of a man’s arm from the elbow to the fingertips.  The Bible describes the dimensions as being 300 cubits long, 50 cubits wide and 30 cubits high which is why it took him and his team 4 years to complete.

The construction of the Ark has drawn in it’s fair share of worried people according to Huibers.  She has stated that several people are worried because of the Mayan prophecy of the end of the world this December.

She answers by telling them that this Ark was designed as a museum and not a rescue boat.

ICANN, who assign top-level domains (TLDs) to sites worldwide, will announce in June which domains will be added to the existing list.

AdAge reported that Google applied for more than 50 new TLDs. If this is true, that means Google spent more than $9 million in application fees because ICANN charges $185,000 for each application.

“In 2016, it’s estimated that almost half of the world’s population will be online, yet nearly 50 percent of the websites we visit are found in the .com top-level domain (TLD), which was among the first TLDs created in 1984,” Google wrote on its Official Blog.

Google also stated “We’re just beginning to explore this potential source of innovation on the web, and we are curious to see how these proposed new TLDs will fare in the existing TLD environment. By opening up more choices for Internet domain names, we hope people will find options for more diverse—and perhaps shorter—signposts in cyberspace.”

You can promote all types of posts, including status updates, photos, offers, videos, and questions. Using Promoted Posts, you will create what is called a sponsored story which will be delivered in a regular news feed. These promoted stories will run for up to 3 days after the post was originally created; therefore if you decide to promote a post 1 day after you originally published it, the promotion will only run for 2 days.

If you don’t have access to Promoted Posts yet and you have at least 400 fans. It seems like Facebook is rolling it out slowly.

The rating system has been redesigned, too: five-star reviews are being replaced by multi-category scores that Zagat created. This is the first integration since Google bought Zagat last September. Google+ Local is being launched now, you will soon.

According to Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Zuckerberg dropped from the top 40 list after Facebook hit an all time low of $28.84 on the Nasdaq.  His worth fell over $1 billion to 14.7 billion from $16.2 billion in a matter of just days.

Many people are feeling the impact of the Facebook IPO dropping.  20% of the top 20 youngest billionaires in the world are because of Facebook.

Since Facebook went public, it has been a downward spiral opening at $38 and losing more than $25 billion in it’s first week alone.  Nasdaq blamed many of the problems on technical glitches.

Who feels bad for him?

The message on the website currently reads “We’ll be back.  We’re busy updating the Apple Store for you and will be back soon.”

There have been rumors of a new Apple MacBook or the Nest Learning Thermostat being releases soon.

The message seems to be crooked as well on the site as well.  Maybe it’s a hint of what’s too come?

Buddy Media has been around for five years and is no stranger to effective social media management allows brands to to manage their social media accounts including Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and Google+.  Salesforce already has a very long list of available list to their enterprise clients such as Chatter and Force.  The rumored acquisition cost is rumored to be more than $800 million after beating a very aggressive bid from Google.

Buddy Media recently raised over $54 million giving it a value of $500 million.  This comes after Salesforce acquired a different social media platform, Radian6 last year for $326 million.

This comes one week after Oracle had bought Vitrue which also specializes in social media marketing.

Although the new tools will surely add more advantages to their service, the layout has left many of its most dedicated users confused about how to shorten a link — which most of us would consider to be bit.ly’s purpose.

Bit.ly has more than 25 billion links saved since 2008 and gets about 300 million links each day. Their purpose of the redesign was to not only expand its presence but allow users more power. Among the most notable of the new tools is a profile page and what the company is calling “bitmarks,” which are similar to bookmarks.

When searching for bitmarks, you can see instant results based on the specific URL, title, and notes. Bitmarks can be added to a personal profile and can be made private or public.

Their new iPhone app allows you to (finally) share and shorten links while on the go. The app will also provide easy access to your bitmarks and saved page.

The worlds most popular social media network has been the worst-performing  IPO in at least a decade, falling more than 20 percent. The shares fell $3.07 to $28.84 in Nasdaq trading today. They opened at $38 in their May 18 debut and briefly reached $45.

Investors are neutral on Facebook’s prospects. The most widely-sold option bets that the price of Facebook shares will fall to $25 by mid-July.

And the company, along with the investment banks that led the IPO, is the subject of at least two shareholder lawsuits. They allege that analysts at the large banks cut their financial forecasts for Facebook just before the IPO and told only a handful of clients.

Sources told AdAge the reason GM decided to pull its advertising is because Facebook wouldn’t let the company run “bigger, higher-impact ad units”.  Advertising on Facebook has always been subtle. But GM wanted to do something bigger. Rather than run sponsored stories, which look like Facebook posts, or smaller units on the right side of the pages, GM asked if it could take over a page. It was told no.

GM and Facebook both declined to comment on their meeting.

Facebook has shown remarkable restraint in what it will sell businesses and advertisers. It has always put the user experience first, and that’s helped create the largest social media platform with 901 million global users. Doing that, has also meant turning down some big money advertisers.

Not shying away from large purchases recently, Facebook is rumored to be shopping Face.com around the neighborhood of $80 million to $100 million.

Facebook has had their eye on the acquisition of Face.com for some time now, even before the social media giant went public.  Face.com has been turning down offers in the past from Facebook because the offers were too low.

Face.com was founded in 2007 in Israel and has software that will recognize faces by allowing the software to scan a photo of someones face to recognize them.  This purchase would give Facebook the ability to identify people faster in photos in desktops and mobile platforms.

She apparently posted a photograph of “a large sum of cash” after helping her grandmother count up her savings.  Once it was all counted up, she snapped a picture of it and posted it on her Facebook wall.  Approximately 6 hours later, 2 masked armed men forced their way into her home and demanding “the money they saw on her Facebook page.”  After determining that the money was no longer there, they were able to find a small amount of cash before leaving.

Fortunately, no was was hurt during the entire ordeal.  Police warn social media users to be careful about what you post on any social media account.

This adds even more to the battle to become kind of the web between Google and Facebook after Google complete the purchase of Motorola Mobility for $12.5 billion paving the way for the search engine giant to get into the smartphone industry.

Several Facebook employees have stated that they are planning on releasing their own smartphone and have hired several employees from Apple who have worked on the iPhone.  The employees spoke on a condition of anonymity out of fear of losing their job with Facebook.

Facebook has code-named this projects as “Buffy”.  Facebook is doing whatever it takes to keep this under wraps and not releasing anything internally or externally regarding expanding into the smartphone industry.

In the report, Mark Zuckerberg is quoted as saying “I am worried that I we don’t create a mobile phone in the near future that Facebook will simply become an app on other mobile platforms.”

This also comes less than a week of rumors circulating of Facebook acquiring the Opera browser.

Would you purchase a Facebook smartphone?

This comes only a month after Facebook rolled out “trending articles” which shows articles/blog post that are trending and gaining popularity on the web.

The new “trending videos” that will start rolling out will be very similar to the concept of “trending articles” by showing what videos are popular with your friends on Facebook and not allowing it to get pushed to the bottom of your feed.

Many Facebook users expressed frustration when Facebook started rolling out trending articles in their news feeds, but users may find more interest in videos, more than articles.

This is good news for app-makers Viddy since it will start showing their videos at the top of news feeds.

In the Removal Requests section you will find requests from companies and organizations that have asked Google to take down URLs for copyright infringement. Who has sent in the most requests, so far? It’s Microsoft, whom have requested more than 2.5 million URLs be removed. But here’s the mind-boggling part: Microsoft has asked Google to remove URLs, while leaving some of those same URLs alive on its own search engine, Bing.

Why is Microsoft demanding Google to remove these links, yet not removing them on Bing? One reason could be that Microsoft, which recently released a new version of Bing, wants to give itself an advantage over its competitor.  It’s more than likely that Microsoft is just not as quick as Google at fulfilling take down requests, even its own.

Most Facebook users do not want to give games permission to install and give their information. These previews give gamers a taste and could convince them to install since they will already be addicted.

Expect this to become a huge move in the strategy for Facebook games. Developers will need to shorten their game into a 30-second mini-experience. For some games that will be relatively easy, but for strategy type games it can propose a challenge. Game developers will also need to come up with tag lines like “beat (friends’ name)’s high score” to encourage Facebook users to play.

This acquisition would be much more different than their recent purchases being newer start-ups since Opera has been a well established browser for some time now.

In addition to getting into even more competition with Google, this will also open several new doors for Facebook integrating search and social.

Shaw told WiredUK that the massive touch screen tablet will be available to the public eventually replacing whiteboards and many electronics.

“It’s his whiteboard, his email machine and it’s a device we’re going to sell,” says Shaw.

Windows 8 will be designed to run on small tablets, PC’s, laptops and even select smartphones, in addition to an 80-inch wall hung tablet.  One of Microsoft’s Windows 8 partners will sell the 80-inch tablet.

While it does sound pretty massive for a tablet, Shaw explains that it isn’t intended for consumers at launch.

Windows 8 is getting released later this year, but no word on the 80-inch tablet yet.

At first I laughed at the idea of an 80-inch tablet, but then started realizing it could be very useful around the office. Many of us are fans of whiteboards which an 80-inch tablet could replace and be much more innovative at the same time.

This will make SpaceX the first ever private company to dock with the International Space Station.  Once is is within reach, the International Space Station will use a robotic arm and draw the spacecraft in.

The astronauts aboard will plan on unloading the supplies that the SpaceX Dragon’s spacecraft is holding.

Like Instagram, your friends’ recent photos are displayed in a news feed. Another great feature is that you can also simultaneously upload multiple photos to Facebook;  And like Instagram, the app allows you to crop, rotate and apply filters to your photos. You can also tag your friend, add photo captions and say where you are.

Facebook Camera Vs. Instagram

Facebook Camera has one huge advantage over any other Photo app and that is the ability to add multiple photos. This is time saving and something that has needed to happen for a while now. However Instagram also has more filters, 17, plus light adjustment and tilt-shift that Facebook Camera does not have.

Facebook Camera is definitely not perfect, but it is very convenient  for those who don’t want to start a whole new social network for photos on Instagram.

Definition 6 worked with Facebook on this new tool, Timeline Movie Maker, which originally started in January for Facebook users before becoming available this week for Page administrators.

To make a movie, a pages’ Timeline must have at least 50 public photos. The Timeline Movie Maker supports nine languages other than English; Italian, Korean, Japanese, Taiwanese, Mandarin, Brazilian, Portuguese, Turkish and Russian.

I had fun playing with the new tool, it is extremely user friendly. To be honest, there is not much to it, you can click on the photos to edit to the ones you want and choose your own style of music. It is fun to see a history of how far your company has come.

According to a Securities and Exchange Commission filing that he complete on Tuesday, the Facebook CEO sold 30.2 million Facebook shares at $37.58 each giving him $1,1134,916,000 in actual green cash, not just on paper.

He can now spend it on whatever he wishes, unlike his other Facebook employees who become instant millionaires after Facebook went public.  The reason being is because the Security and Exchange Commission has a 180-day lockup period restricting them from their money for a period of a 180 days.

Even after selling over 30 million of his Facebook shares, he still has over 500 million shares left over still putting his net worth at a staggering $15 billion.
