Looking at the current line up of children’s television there seems to be a lack of what was a common occurrence maybe ten or twenty years ago. This blog post highlights some of the benefits of those great kids games shows from the past. Most notably, Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego. While current kids television programs are visually amazing with great stories, they seem to encourage very passive engagement with their viewers.

I found this post about kids’ TV shows from the late 80’s and 90’s. While Mr. Wizard was one of my favorites my mother wasn’t so pleased about me trying to build some of the projects I saw on his show. The hot air balloon made with a candle, string and a dry cleaning bag was probably my most controversial build. The melted plastic is still on the garage floor.

I read that the average American home gets 118 cable channels and that number grows every year, I wonder what the chances are of Dinosaurs, Mr. Wizard or The Wonder Years being aired someday?
