Here is one of the not so known method for free-up the RAM to make the Windows run faster.
When programs run in Windows XP, they frequently use what are called DLLs (Dynamic-Link Libraries).
These contain shared programming instructions and other files like icons, graphics, sounds, etc. that different applications use in order to run. DLLs are stored in RAM whenever the applications load them; when you quit a program, XP is supposed to release the DLL from memory. But some DLLs can get stuck.
Here is the method to mend this up.
Step 1: You can force Windows XP to release DLLs by adding a Registry key.
Step 2: Select Start > Run >Enter regedit >Hit Ok
Step 3: This will open the Registry Editor and navigate to
My Computer -> HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SOFTWARE -> Microsoft -> Windows -> CurrentVersion -> Explorer.
Step 4: Right click on EXPLORER in the Left Pane, Select New > Key.
Step 5: Name it as AlwaysUnloadDLL and set the default value to 1.
Step 6: Restart Windows to activate the change.

You can improve the printing speed of your printer with managing the print spooler option.
Basically printer spooler holds your prints for some time then send to printer for print out.
By default on most printers, printer spooler option is enabled but you turn off to specify that the file should be sending to the printer and not spooled. Here printer spooler option might be different location in your printer but on most printers you can turn off by going to Start, Setting then Printers.
Now right click on the icon of the printer that you are using.
Click Properties and select the Advanced tab.
Here click on "Print directly to printer" option.
This will tie up your application until the printer has all the data, but your print job should finish more quickly.
Printing directly to the printer will also come in handy if your print spooler crashes and you need to print before you reboot your PC.

Sometimes a situation comes that we have to delete certain specific website address (url) only from the web-browser location or address bar say to preserve your identity. after this ur registry editor is enable
type explorer
go to run and type regedit

after that restart ur system
open registry editor and follow the path to enable folder option in tools menu

Iv'e personally found a dramatic increase in web browsing after clearing the Windows XP DNS cache. To clear it type the following in a command prompt: ipconfig /flushdns.
ALLOW MORE THAN 2 SIMULTANEOUS DOWNLOADS ON IEXPLORER 6.
This is to increase the the number of max downloads to 10.
1. Start Registry Editor (Regedt32.exe).
2. Locate the following key in the registry:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings
3. On the Edit menu, click Add Value , and then add the following registry values:

I know this is a very simple thing but the problem, as like many other issues, is the ignorance about it.
How often do you copy songs from a CD? Or some photos from a CD?
What do you do? You select the required files and do a CTRL -C. Open the destination folder and do a CTRL-V. Here is something you can benefit time from. Customize your SEND TO MENU.
This sounds simple and you can do it in less than sixty seconds
. You can create your own BASKET.
First you'll need access to hidden files. So change your view settings to make all hidden files visible. Tools -> folder options -> view (tab) and select the show hidden files and folders.
go to parent drive:/documents and settings/(user name)/send to
Open up my computer and locate your most used folders.
Create a shortcut of the most used folders in SEND TO FOLDER.You can do this in a number of ways.
Right click -> send to desktop(create shortcut) and move the shortcut from the desktop to the SEND TO FOLDER
Copy the most used folder and go to SEND TO FOLDER and right click -> paste shortcut.
Also remember to rename the shortcuts to send to videos or send to potos. We don't need confusion when we use the same later.

Deleting System Options from the Start menu

You can actually remove the Find and Run options from the start menu by performing a simple registry hack. Again like always Launch the registry editor and scroll down to the below key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer Right-click on the right pane and select New, DWORD Value. Name it NoFind.(To remove the RUN option name it NoRun). Double-click the newly create DWORD to edit it's value and enter 1 as its value. This will disable the FIND option of the Start Menu and will also disable the default Shortcut key(F3 for Find.) To restore the Run or find command modify the value of the DWORD to 0 or simply Delete the DWORD value.

How to remove the shortcut arrow from the desktop ?

Open Regedit and navigate to the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer \ Shell Icons Backup the key. More information.
In the right-pane, create a new String value named "29"
Double-click 29 and set its data to:
C:\Windows\System32\shell32.dll,50 (an empty icon)
Close Registry Editor.

Right-click Desktop, choose Properties
Click the Appearance Tab.
Click Advanced button.
Choose Icon from the drop-down list
Set it's size to 31 and press OK, OK.

re you trying to block a website on your PC? You need not setup firewall filters to do this. Here is a simple trick to block the site on your system. Although many of you know this, this is for the unknown....
First of all I need to describe about the "Hosts" file
It is a file located in C:WINDOWSsystem32driversetc , and it contains information about the hosts on your system...
Here are the steps
1. Go to the location C:WINDOWSsystem32drivers etc
2. You will find a file by name "hosts" with no extension.
3. Open that file in "Notepad"
4. Go to the bottom of the page where you could find the following line "127.0.0.1 localhost"
5. Now add another line at the bottom for ex: "127.0.0.1 http://www.xyz.com/ localhost"
6. This line will block the site http://www.xyz.com
The trick behind this
127.0.0.1 is the IP address of local system the so called loop back address... Now when you enter a site the browser will first check the hosts file and then it would go for the DNS service of your ISP.
Now we have added the Ip address of the xyz site as 127.0.0.1, so the browser will assume that 127.0.0.1 is the IP address of the xyz site and will connect to the local host itself and so the websites doesn't get opened...

Once in registry, navigate to key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\MyComputer\NameSpace\DelegateFolders You must see a sub-key named {59031a47-3f72-44a7-89c5-5595fe6b30ee}. If you delete this key, you have effectively removed the my shared documents folder.
