Is it just me or has France been absolutely phenomenal lately with their metal? French black metallers WAY TO END is the next beast to arise, and their latest, Desecrated Internal Journey, expands evil into unimaginable dimensions. And that by all means is not an understatement. The band has such a unique train of thought that’s strong, apocalyptic, yet open minded and bloody fucking brilliant. WAY TO END’s guitar tones are beautiful, and the creative and blasphemous riffs they unleash are complex, while staying metal as fuck. This atmosphere they create with their music varies from extreme metal riffs, dark ambiance, and dissonance, while the whole time shocking the senses. I absolutely love the way WAY TO END strategically unleashes their dissonance, for that’s how they are expanding above and beyond. Desecrated Internal Journey is definitely one of those releases you can play from start to finish, and just get lost within the music.

“A Step into the Void” takes epic to this whole new level, and introduces us to the beast that is WAY TO END. With a complete shock to the senses, the band’s disharmonic execution slays its dark path upon the listener. The guitar tones are incredible as they sneak into the night, and step into the void. Wow oh wow, I cannot get enough of these riffs. Well good news, Desecrated Internal Journey has plenty more hidden treasures. “The Worm” is in all ways epic as fuck! The intro guitar riff weaves a delicate and spine tingling mood, and while you can see the black metal vibrations, you’re also going to see how unique WAY TO END is. As “The Worm” progresses, the reflections of darkness come out strong with their obscure structures, mysterious rhythms, and in the depths of it all, you can tell they have an appreciation for the darker classical music from way back when. “The Worm” and its near flawless composition show WAY TO END at their best, and with Desecrated Internal Journey, WAY TO END already has such a mastered sound!

Hands down this could be my favorite black metal release of 2009, for it’s definitely one of the most creative of the year. Go buy it now! With a musical direction as deep as the abyss, I believe WAY TO END are going to keep expanding their sound until they are the chosen leaders. All hail WAY TO END, and their future is going to be BIG!

“I am really happy to announce this short message for all DECAPITATED fans: As you all know, two years after the tragedies we had to suffer, I decided to continue the band. There’s no sense in stopping this amazing thing we built up so many years ago together with Witek [Witold Kieltyka, drummer, R.I.P.] , Sauron [Wojciech Wisowicz, the band’s first lead singer], Martin [Marcin Rygiel, the band’s first bassist] and Covan [Adrian Kowanek, second vocalist, still recovering from injuries]. We chose to do our first tour in the U.K. because we have only good memories from this place and we are sure that you guys will support us… We need you!! I am very pleased to announce the new killer line-up of DECAPITATED: Kerim ‘Krimh‘ Lechner on drums – he’s a new blood, very talented and used to playing in bands like THORNS OF IVY and TONE INTIMACY; amazing Rafał Piotrowski comes from bands like KETHA and FORGOTTEN SOULS and will take over vocal duties; masterous Filip “Heinrich” Hałucha from VESENIA, ROOTWATER, UNSUN and MASACHIST will be destroying the bass! See you all soon! We honestly can’t wait!”

Rob got some killer tones on the guitar and bass, while John Tempesta added a really good feel on the drums. It’s rockin now!”

As reported on Cinema-Suicide.com, EXODUS front man Rob Dukes will be collaborating with Terminal Press on the upcoming zombie anthology comic Zombie Bomb!, edited by Adam Miller and Rich Woodall. Nuclear Blast USA caught up with Dukes on the eve of the band entering the studio to record the follow-up to 2007’s The Atrocity Exhibition: Exhibit A to ask a few questions:

Between your cross-country motorcycle trip and touring South America, where in the hell did you find the time to come up with a zombie story?

Brian Ferrara from Terminal Press e-mailed me while I was on tour and asked if I would be interested in being a part of Zombie Bomb!. I wrote a quick, funny, kinda sick idea down and sent it to him. A week later, we were sitting in Grassroots (a bar in lower Manhattan) talking about how it was a good start but needed a twist. Three days later, I was in an airport texting him ideas. We went back and forth until we both were laughing and excited. It was a cool process.

Is this the first story – aside from song lyrics – that you’ve ever written?

To be honest, a few years ago I started writing a novel. It was a story in my head and it just took on a life of its own. I would write a lot, then break for a while, and begin again. This went on for two years. Then I met Brian Ferrara and his wife from Terminal Press. They wanted to do an Exodus comic. After they started work on that, I called him and said I had a story that I had been writing and would like him to see if he thought it would be a good comic. They thought it was cool. The next day, he had Keith McCleary writing the script and now it’s a comic in the process. I have seen pages of it and it’s fucking awesome! Dark and evil and fucked up… just like it’s supposed to be.

The band comic Dukes alluded to, “EXODUS: Death Begets Death,” will be available early 2010 from Terminal Press. Visit the Terminal Press homepage for updates and the Terminal Press Facebook Fan Page for a look at some “EXODUS: Death Begets Death” concept art. A promotional image of the artwork is available for download here.

Symphonic rock outfit WITHIN TEMPTATION will release a forthcoming live album, An Acoustic Night at the Theatre, due out December 15. The release will be available via all digital music providers, while physical copies will be available exclusively at the newly-launched Roadrunner Records web store.

In November 2008, Within Temptation embarked on a sold-out, intimate theatre tour in their native Europe, complete with seated audiences. The setup afforded the band the opportunity to rearrange several classics from its extensive catalogue to suit an acoustic performance. The album was recorded at the Muziekcentrum Frits Philips in Eindhoven, Holland on November 30 of last year. The performance was beautifully captured and demonstrates the simplified and stripped down side of the band.

Special guests include Life of Agony’s vocalist Keith Caputo for the single “What Have You Done.” Caputo guested on the album version, so it was only appropriate that he contributed to the live song, as well. Additionally, The Gathering’s Anneke van Giersbergen joins den Adel for a powerful partnership on “Somewhere.”

Of additional note, the album also contains the brand new song “Utopia,” written during the rehearsals for the theatre tour. A duet with UK singer-songwriter Chris Jones (who Sharon met while working with world-famous DJ Armin van Buuren on his track “In And Out Of Love”), Utopia will also be available as a digital single prior to the album release. The band are set to film a video shortly with director Oscar Verpoort. Poignantly written, “Utopia” is about two lovers who can’t be together because they are separated by their contrasting dreams of the ideal life. “The only way to be together is for one of them to sacrifice their dream,” clarifies Sharon. “It really is about this one moment that we each inevitably experience: reaching a point in your life where you have to decide what you want your future to look like.”

Virginian crossover kings MUNICIPAL WASTE have posted an update from their ‘Waste the World’ tour.
MUNICIPAL WASTE drummer DAVE WITTE posts:

“This tour is going great, all the bands are bringing it each night – it’s a great bill with something for everyone. We’re nine shows in already and sadly Goatwhore departed last night, we’ll miss them. Off With Their Heads joins us tomorrow to mix things up even more. We’re playing a smorgasbord of old and new material and Waste fans new and old are stoked on it as well as us!

“In Texas, in Houston we survived a flooded venue, moved the show to another room and played and extended set for our awesome supportive fans and in Austin, we busted out our cover version of S.O.D.’s ‘United Forces’ for the last time (we’ve been playing on and off while touring over the past few years), with the man Billy Milano himself singing.”

Big time bruisers THROWDOWN are back with their latest release, Deathless, and like always, they are back with something to say. It’s almost like we have a whole new THROWDOWN here, where in their latter discography (Venom & Tears era) they carry a heavy Pantera and Sepultura influence. While they’ve crossed over to a more metal side lately, they still have that hardcore attitude and intensity, talking about real life situations, and keeping your head up. That’s the THROWDOWN that I grew up to love, but it’s great to see them still growing, maturing, and well, deathless. Their instrumentation has expanded in both brutality and exploring more southern metal riffs, and vocalist Dave Peters (who also contributes guitars on each release) explores new regions to his attack, even singing some pretty good clean vocals now.

“This Continuum” is pretty much spot on the THROWDOWN that I love to hear. Straight up raging fury rapid fires on this track and the memorable melodies in the chorus really fit in well. Thinking THROWDOWN’s new approach in Deathless, “This Continuum” shows the band at their strongest, and all around bad to the bone. “Black Vatican” is another metallic mosher meant to crush. The band furiously stomps through the verses with authority, and all of the down tuned chugging is enough to get your horns raised. There’s even a great bluesy guitar solo that compliments the integrity of the sound, and the transitions are smooth, yet very solid.

While in my eyes Haymaker is still my favorite THROWDOWN to date, Deathless shows us a fresh THROWDOWN, and is definitely worthy of your attention. Much respect to THROWDOWN for sticking to their guns for so long, and the band is here to stay. I’m stoked to see what’s next…

Liam Gallagher has said he’s recording with the remaining members of OASIS, apart from his brother Noel, and that he’ll release new material in 2010.

Speaking in a video interview with MTV Italy, the 37-year old said: “We’ve been demoing some songs that we’ve had on the quiet. After Christmas we might go in the studio and record it and hopefully have an album out in July.”

OASIS split up while on tour in France in August with Noel Gallagher citing Liam’s behaviour for the reason behind his departure.

Noel, who’s given no interviews since the break up, is believed to be working on his own solo project.

Liam Gallagher, who plans to record with ex-OASIS members Gem Archer, Andy Bell and Zak Starkey added: “We’ll do it in a different kind of way now. I’ll try and reconnect with a new band, new songs and I’m feeling confident about the songs. “I’m feeling a million per cent confident that they could be better thanOASIS.”

On the subject of his relationship with his brother, Liam said: “I love him to bits but we just don’t get on. Me and our kid have never been that close anyway. Alright, we were in the band but we kept ourselves to each other, he’d do his thing and I’d do my thing, I’ve got my friends, he’s got his friends.”
