Excalibur by Hoyo De Monterrey Cigar Review

I took some time to sit down with the Excalibur Maduro #1 by Hoyo De Monterrey. The construction looked good except for a large vein running down the back side. Slightly toothy and very nice natural maduro wrapper. I was smoking this at Excalibur Cigar Club in Miramar (San Diego’s finest Cigar Bar on a fine Wednesday afternoon and I very much enjoyed myself. The cigar started with a tight drag and wasn’t the best in the beginning but once it opened up about half way through it got a whole lot better! The spice grew and the drag was much more enjoyable.

Romeo And Julieta Habana Reserve Cigar Review

The Romeo and Julieta Habana Reserve was a fine smoke. It started a little lack luster but ended up being a nice mellow smoke with minimal spice a nice woody/toasty overtone. The burn characteristics were great and the construction looked good. All in all a fine smoke.

Perdomo Habano Cigar Review

I smoke a lot of cigars that are not necessarily “big name cigars”. It might just be me but it seems that a lot of the big name manufacturers have lost the love and are just making cigars for the numbers. Often when I pick up an established cigar I am under impressed. Their are so many cigars out there that taste great and have excellent burn characteristics for a modest price. With that said, I give you the Perdomo Habano. A well made and great smoking economical gem from Perdomo. I picked this guy up at Excalibur Cigar Club in San Diego and took some time to enjoy it in my backyard.

La Aurora 1495 Cigar Review

I had the pleasure of enjoying this tasty stick at Excalibur Cigar club the other day. A fine smoke with great earthy notes and minimal spice. I had a little bit of a burn problem but all in all a great cigar. The earthy flavor was hard to pin point and was a little reminiscent of an old warm barn with the smell of fresh hay.

Rocky Patel Renaissance Churchill Cigar Review

This cigar was nothing but fabulous! I enjoyed it on my porch with a glass of water on a fine San Diego (Jamul) day. The construction was near perfect and the weight and density was just right. Very minimal veins and a smooth Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper with a smooth cool drag.

It started with a healthy amount of spice and great toasty notes and mellowed into a cool, still very toasty, tasty smoke. The burn was almost perfect with only one, quickly self correcting, inconsistent spot.

Be sure to smoke one yourself and let me know how it compares.

Great smoke and highly recommended!

Nub Connecticut 358 Cigar Review

The Nubs always treat me well. This is the first time I have ever had one of the Connecticut wrapper variety and I must say it’s a nice change of pace. Velvety smoke with a nice toasty flavor. Not much spice and I have been fighting the drag but the burn is great and over all experience is fine. Smoke one yourself and let me know what you think!

Cigar lighting is a science and an art not to mention a hotly debated topic! I understand that everyone has their own way and I don’t claim to be an expert.
