Herman Cain, a business mastermind, a natural problem solver and a black man of “substance” who says he would “take the race card off the table” is in a challenge against Obama as the GOP presidential candidate in 2012.

Has Obama met his match? I should say so. Praise G-d!

Cain says, “Obama is a master of rhetoric. He is a master of deceptive language. And any white candidate who runs against him will be up against the race card. I take the race card off the table.”

Cain, a devout Christian, emphasized he is “prayerfully considering” a 2012 bid for the GOP nomination.

In addition to serving as the former president and CEO of Godfather’s Pizza for 10 years, Cain, 64, is also former president and CEO of the National Restaurant Association and former chairman of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City. He’s been vice president of Burger King, vice president of Pillsbury Company, a mathematician for the U.S. Department of the Navy and a business analyst for Coca-Cola. He has a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Morehouse College and a master’s degree in computer science from Purdue University.

There’s more experience in executive decision making in Herman Cain’s pinky than in Obama’s entire life experience on earth.

Herman, where were you in 2006, 2007 and 2008? Well, it doesn’t matter, I’m glad you’re here now.

Nicknamed “The Hermanator,” Cain has more than 17,000 fans of his Facebook page, 5,000 Twitter fans and 45,000 members in his Intelligent Thinkers Movement. He is urging supporters to sign up for his political action committee and help raise funds for conservative candidates for the 2010 election. He said support for that effort will help him gauge his backing for a 2012 bid.

His supporters have launched a “Draft Herman Cain for President 2012” effort to develop teams of volunteers and build a grass-roots base for a presidential campaign.

One of Cain’s key sources of inspiration was his own father, Luther Cain Jr. – a man with a high-school education who literally walked off a farm at the age of 18 with only the clothes on his back.

His father worked as a barber, a janitor and a chauffeur. One of his dreams was to give his sons a better start in life than he had.

In 2005, the government of Israel began the Gaza Disengagement, where 9,000 Jewish residents were evicted from their homes. Despite mass rallies against the disengagement, and an orange-ribbon campaign, Prime Minister Ariel Sharon implemented the plan with the hope of reducing security concerns and diffusing the demographic problem of Gaza’s 1.5 million Arabs. Upon completion of the evacuation, all 21 Jewish communities in Gaza were bulldozed and destroyed. Only the synagogues were left standing; these were then torched by Arab mobs.

72% of Jews in Britain agree that Israel’s action in Gaza in 2009 was “a legitimate act of self-defense,” according to a study by the Institute for Jewish Policy Research.

77% favor a “two-state solution,” which would see the creation of a Palestinian state, as the “only way” to make peace in the Middle East.

The survey found that British Jews strongly identify with and support Israel, with 9 out of 10 having visited the country.

In the recent tension in southern Lebanon between villagers and the UN force UNIFIL, Hizbullah saw an opportunity to send a warning to the international peacekeepers that their freedom to maneuver was limited. Initially, the Lebanese army and government failed to back up the UN. After the angry response of states contributing soldiers to UNIFIL, Lebanon backtracked, vowing to continue cooperating with the UN. However, the incidents confirmed that Hizbullah has substantial control over the Lebanese army, particularly the army’s intelligence services. Hizbullah’s freedom to act both politically and militarily is essential to its role as an extension of Iran on the Israeli border. At a broader level, the quarrel with UNIFIL may also be seen as an Iranian reply to the recent passage of Security Council sanctions against Tehran.

The Jordanian Professional Associations Council on Thursday said Egypt has refused to allow their Gaza-bound humanitarian aid convoy to enter its territory. Activists had originally intended to travel from Aqaba to the Egyptian port of Nuweibeh before heading by land to the Rafah border crossing with Gaza to express their solidarity with Gazans. The convoy of 150 activists and 25 trucks left Amman on Tuesday.

After what was widely described as a “charm offensive” to reach out to Israelis by the Obama administration, a new Smith Research poll conducted this week for the Jerusalem Post found that 10% of Israeli Jews say the administration is pro-Israel, 46% said it was pro-Palestinian, 34% said it was neutral, and 10% gave no opinion.

The previous poll in March found that 9% considered the White House pro-Israel, 48% said it was pro-Palestinian, and 30% said it was neutral.

In June 2009, 31% considered the Obama presidency pro- Israel and 14% pro-Palestinian.

The State Department is investigating whether to designate the Turkish Muslim charity IHH, which funded and operated the Gaza-bound “aid” ship Mavi Marmara, as a foreign terrorist organization. State Department spokesman Mark Toner said at a briefing on Wednesday: “I believe we are looking at the IHH, but it’s a long process to designate something a foreign terrorist organization.” Sources also said that sections of the Treasury Department are actively investigating IHH with the intent to designate it as a terrorist organization, despite some opposition from within the administration.

The State and Treasury investigations follow a letter sent to President Obama last month from a bipartisan group of 87 U.S. senators in which they called on the president to keep firm his administration’s support of Israel and to investigate the Turkish group. IHH has links to terrorist groups including Hamas and al-Qaeda.

The Turkish IHH charity that led the Gaza flotilla has extensive connections with Turkey’s political elite, and the group’s efforts to challenge Israel’s blockade of Gaza received support at the top levels of the governing party, Turkish diplomats and government officials said. The IHH has come under attack in Israel and the West for offering financial support to groups accused of terrorism. But in Turkey the group has helped Prime Minister Erdogan shore up support from conservative Muslims ahead of critical elections next year and improve Turkey’s standing and influence in the Arab world.

The charity’s mission, political analysts said, has advanced Erdogan’s aim of shifting Turkey’s focus to the Muslim East. The government “could have stopped the ship if it wanted to, but the mission to Gaza served both the IHH and the government by making both heroes at home and in the Arab world,” said Ercan Citlioglu, a terrorism expert at Bahcesehir University in Istanbul. Many of the 21 people listed on the charity’s board have or had close links to the ruling Justice and Development Party. Those ties partly reflect the common agenda of the party and the charity.

Like the people and governments of Israel, the pro-Israel community in the U.S. has long sought a resolution of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict through direct negotiations between the parties that would lead to a lasting peace agreement and Israel’s acceptance by all its neighbors. The Israeli people dream of peace, and their governments have worked and sacrificed for it.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared his vision for peace – for two states – last June in a landmark speech at Bar-Ilan University, saying he supported the establishment of a demilitarized Palestinian state alongside the Jewish State of Israel. Netanyahu declared a 10-month moratorium on all Israeli construction in the West Bank – a concession that U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton called “unprecedented” in advance of negotiations.

Israel also has taken significant steps to ensure that life improves for Palestinians in the West Bank, such as dismantling hundreds of West Bank roadblocks and checkpoints, which have helped produce double-digit economic growth at a time of global recession.

While the current Israeli government has proven its desire for peace, the leader of the Palestinian Authority refuses to meet or even speak on the phone with his Israeli counterpart, despite American demands that he do so. Abbas has said that his strategy is not to make concessions in negotiations but to encourage the U.S. and the international community to pressure Israel for unilateral concessions.

In recent months, the PA has intensified its efforts to delegitimize Israel in the international arena and increased the incitement against Israel. The PA media carries outrageous programs portraying Israel and Jews in the most negative ways.

As American friends of Israel we must continue to remind our leaders about how badly Israel wants peace – and how tragically the PA has only increased its demands and pulled away from the negotiating table. Don’t blame Israel for the lack of progress.
