Monsoon and Accessorize show off their shed style for kids winter 2012 fashion preview.

Flowers, wildlife and fairies at the bottom of the garden feature in Monsoon’s children’s fashion ranges next winter with their shed style display showing off intarsia knitted animal motif sweaters, heritage floral prints, great British tweeds and glam tea dresses for the party season.

There is a fab feather tiara, a multitude of glitter shoe choices, patterned knit earmuffs and a great glitter hooded wool coat for the girls. While pinstriped suits, fairisle slipovers and floral print shirts ensure boys are not left out either.

The party dresses are the jewel in the crown here though, every mum’s first choice for the affordable price and variety and ideal for weddings and christening too, with antique look lace trim details or sleeves, both fine and chunky allover sequin styles and delicate fan pleated dresses in soft coral and flesh tones.

Boys fashion is so tricky, the majority of companies play it pretty safe but then so do the majority of boys.

Timberland is a children’s collection you cannot fault on quality but it has a very staid signature style, however these shots show how with just the addition of some twisted scarves and a little bit of attitude you can give some cool to classic shapes.

There are a couple of nice touches in the collection too, such as the plaid trims on the turn up jeans and the furry lining to the hooded baseball jacket.

Une Sardine à Rio, casual French styling for kids easy summer fashion.

There seems to be no end of casual chic French children’s fashion labels at the moment. Une Sardine à Rio is another contender for that simple easy elegant summer South of France feel for girlswear whose plain and simple shapes are sparked up by some great photo print skirts featuring holiday destinations around the world in particular Brazil.

The range is organic and for ages 0-6 with flexible fitting that can grow with the child.I love the wide ribbon ties in contrasting vivid colours on the mostly black, sand and burnt orange palette of the line. Each purchase comes with a Brazilian friendship bracelet too.

Recently featured in the ‘Be a buyer” section on Alex and Alexa for new labels to the UK I am hoping it went well for them and the winter collection will be stocked there. Look out for them at Playtime Paris in the next round of trade shows.

Misha Lulu is such a fun brand for children’s fashion, they have a quirky vintage sensibility and for the summer collection have the coolest Hello Kitty collaboration I have ever seen.

An update to their website has some great little illustrations and full pictures of the collections.

Here is a sneak look at the fall / winter collection as well as a quick look at this summer, they describe their kids collections as retro-modern infant and toddler and sadly are not yet available in the UK but do have a good selection of online outlets.

Boden previews fall / winter 2012 / 13 with a new revamped children’s fashion collection for Mini Boden.

With a new designer on board Boden has taken the opportunity to revamp the Mini Boden kids collections and give them a fresh new update which sees new styling introduced whilst retaining the essential Boden signature.

Great new retro style prints, pattern mixes and details make these clothes stand out in their price bracket as a must buy. New touches such as the gold sequinned hem and sleeves on a print velvet party dress and rainbow colour intarsia knitwear mixed with patterned skirts and striped roll neck cotton tops have a funky Scandinavian feel.

New accessory details are strong as well, contrast colour banded knee socks, chunky hats and scarves, b/w wide striped wellie boots and in the older Johnny b teen range a wonderful pair of laced simple suede shoes stand out.

The baby styles are sweet and trend led with a less traditional palette and the softest knitwear ever and the boy’s range whilst retaining the trad Boden styling has new touches such as the contrast flag undercollar on a rugby shirt and a great red vibrant undercollar and patches on a cord blazer jacket.

I am rather liking these vintage looking patriotic flag scarves from the Conran shop.

To be worn as a scarf or used as a wall hanging they are made in Italy in cashmere and silk mix. Priced at £175 each they are rather a high priced souvenir for the summer but one that will have plenty of use afterwards too!

Astonishing kids pictures from photographer Beatrice Heydiri in a hyper real style

Just look at the quality and clarity of these kids shots from German photographer Beatrice Heydiri.

The wide angle lens gives them a hyper real feel. its almost 3D, you feel they are really coming at you. I have no idea what the campaign is for but I am very struck by these images. Beatrice nearly always shoots in a horizontal format which gives a film like quality to still images.

Beatrice is represented by Karina Bednorz and frequently shoots for the worlds best children’s fashion magazines and ad campaigns.

Parsons Graduate Fashion show in New York, new talent for designer childrenswear

It’s great that a major Fashion School such as Parsons in New York takes children’s fashion seriously enough to devote a part of the faculty to it specifically.

I met assistant professor Francesca Sammaritano for the Parsons children’s course at Pitti Bimbo in Florence and was surprised and delighted to find out that my blog was a daily read for the students there. The graduate show was last week in New York and one of the four students selected for the final catwalk presentation show has kindly sent me her graduate collection photos.

It isn’t often we get to see children’s collections by students and its good to see what their take on the business is, the collection below for the teen ages is by Patricia Gomez and is dedicated to her grandfather.
