Hey everyone Otakon is starting in a few hours and Snafu will be there all weekend. Sean will be manning the booth and we'll be in the Dealer's Hall. If you're in Baltimore you should definitely come say hi and check out all our great new shirts. Lots of designs not even on the online store yet!

Then in a few days we'll be at San Diego Comic-Con. Also in the dealer's hall. This is our first time exhibiting at Comic Con so seriously if you'll be at the show come stop by there as well :) We'll be next to Zerofriends so that's alway rad!

Ok I did say that there was goin to be a new comic page but suddenly and unexpectedly I got a nasty infection around my eye. I had to go to the doctors and get more medicine, oddly enough we figured that it had a connection to the last infection I told you all about. I am just a big ol skin pile of diseases and grossness. Luckly as of now the eye has healed up and no major swelling. This is how bad it looked when it was at its worst.

So dont worry I am working on things right now and things will get back underway.

Hey Everyone, dont shoot me or start up an angry mob wielding torches and pitchforks just yet. A Brain Dead page will be up this week, and trust me folks.......I missed you all and missed working on the comic. Really pained me throughout my hiatus not to work on it. So for those who think I didnt care....well then....

*Gets on top of a table and flips the friggin bird.*

Scrrrreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeewwwwwwwww yooooooooooooooouuu!

I have a very nasty case of Attention deficit disorder and ADHD it would seem from what I am reading from my pill bottle. >.> I literally cannot function or do most work without my medicine Adderall. But also that is because I have been taking pills for it since around 10 to 12 years of age. SO I ALSO AM A ADDICT. :D I need my fix man! *Scratches arms and rubs nose like a crackhead.* I am freakin' out man! Luckly After a whole month without them I finally got the perscription I asked for...(A month ago.) And have my meds so I can work.

I am also living in my brand new apartment with the love of my life Lynze. You can also get the tour of my place by Lynze right here!

On a different note I have been playing Prototype during my move and I just have to say this.......OH MY GAWD!!!!! It is super frickin' awesome and has gained a Nick's Booyah Gotta Play Recommendation. There is so much to do in that game along with so much chaos and action it is just stupendous. Not to mention the acrobatics, wall running, leaping from building to building,and also gliding made me ask everyone I know. "Why the hell didnt they do this kind of crazy stuff for the Spiderman games?!" I dont care what anyone thinks when I say, this game has done so many things that superhero games should have done. Ya feel the envy now spiderman?! Only complaints I have are on PC the audio is annoyingly low and the graphics and textures could have been worked on a bit more. But it would make sense if they did that so most computers could handle the explosions and gunfire along with hundreds to thousands of people, mutants, and soldiers running fighting and destroying the city in front of you. Bad enough this game runs a hell of alot smoother than GTA4 for the pc. The requirements and game lag for GTA4 makes me cry sometimes. So yes, check out Prototype, definitely worth playing.

THE TIME IS HERE!
No, not fucking Morris Day and his awkward mustache and scarf-laden dance-steps, i mean CAGE IS HERE, DAMNIT!
It's midnight everywhere in the world right now (don't know how that's really possible, but Cage makes weird things happen) and that means that the awesomely-anticipated new CAGE album, "DEPART FROM ME" is now released in stores everywhere and in the digital realm via itunes and amazon and all that shiz.

I highly suggest you run out to the stores in the morning to pick up a physical copy of it. Why? well, for one, because supporting independent music in a time where every musician is losing money is a necessary thing for us to all do.
and two, because we tried really hard to make a cool art package for you to rip all up and hang up in your locker and stuff, and the low-res stuff you can steal online doesnt nearly do it justice. I promise.

Apologies for the delay in getting this Snafu strip uploaded - Davey and I are working out the kinks in schedules, and we've both had a madly busy June! From convention-hopping to work to weddings. (No, not MINE yet. I know, I know - I posted that Sticky Floors strip announcing I was gettin' hitched AGES ago. The big day is finally fast approaching, though: This October!)

We here at Zerofriends are pretty open-minded when it comes to being creative. We find inspiration in the weirdest places sometimes, whether its the reflection of our faces distorted in the toilet water when we pee, or the dab of ketchup that ends up on our chests as we sloppily molest a burger with our mouths. Or, as an actual example, this candid photo that was snapped during our annual Zerofriends potato feast:

"I went to school with a kid named Tommy Revenge who had an abnormally large right hand. Not just abnormally large for a 12 year old. Plain old abnormally large. He couldn't wear both gloves so his Mom wrapped his huge hand in a towel when it was cold, but the extra weight made him lose balance a lot. One morning we were all playing chicken with the groundskeeper and his ride-on John Deere like we always did, but Tommy's hand must have weighed a lot that day, because he got real close, and then just collapsed to his right, and fell under the lawnmower blades. Ironically, after the lawnmower completely diced him like a carrot, his huge right hand, the last thing to enter the blades, jammed them, destroying the machine. We always said that at least his last name suited him, as Tommy got his "Revenge". Kinda."

There are three parts of this comic which are based in truth.

1.) I AM qualified to be a Super Hero.
2.) Job services never give you any job you want/are good for.
3.) I did actually go into the car sales industry not too long ago.

Comics should be coming more often. Sorry for the inconsistency in drawing style between this and the last comic. I feel this one looks infinitely better and I'm still feeling out this hand drawn thing after 5+ years of copy/pasting comics.

I don't know if you know this, but I'm obsessed with Nip/Tuck. It's one of my favorite shows on TV. In the course of one episode, more plot twists, death, drama, and nipple reduction happens than on an entire season of 24. I'm not joking. I love it. So you can imagine my jizzy surprise a few years ago when I spotted John Hensley's character, Misguided Matt, sporting a shirt that i designed in the Nazi episode! or was it the tranny episode?! Either way, it was awesome randomly seeing something i drew on TV. Flash forward a few years, i work in LA a lot and because LA is super weird and weird shit always happens, I ended up crossing paths with John a few times and became friendly with him, and he's dope. He is ALSO a professional motorcycle racer and can probably out-speed Cykill from the GoBots, which is a tough feat.

Here is John Hensley and I at my Suru art show last year:

Anyway, John Hensley and Joe Hahn (artist, director & dj of Linkin Park) have put together a jaw-dropping art show at SURU and they were kind enough to ask me to be a part of the show. At first, i said "FUCK OFF" because i hear things wrong sometimes and i thought Joe said "will you be a part of me" and I thought he was asking me to marry him. But when he clarified, I was more than honored. The concept of the show is really really dope.

Theres about 15 artists who are all painting original pieces on these custom-made motorcycle helmets hand picked by Joe and John that will be sold for charity. And the best part about the show is the line up of artists. There's artists in this show that I have not only looked up to for years, but never even considered that I would ever show alongside of them, so yes, Joe, i really AM honored. DO NOT FUCK OFF. I mean, Jim Lee(!) Futura, Jesse James, James Jean, Barry (Twist) McGee??!!! Back in 1992 I used to take a bus from Antioch to Concord, then BART to San Francisco (like a 3 hour ride all together) every weekend JUST to walk around SF and see what new Twist characters were floating around town! So ill.

So yah, if you are around the LA area on Sunday, July 12th (or any time after that for a month), come check out the all-day sunday afternoon opening! Here is some more info, as well as a sneak peak at the helmet that I painted for the show. Enjoy.

Skinner is one of my favorite artists and the dude is so prolific and inspirational and he's in Romania right now just making art and hunting vampires which makes me super happy.
If you have never seen his art and are around San Francisco, Skinner has an INCREDIBLE solo show at 111 Minna Gallery right now and you should go check it out. You will either be inspired, or your head will explode. but either way, you'll have fun.

The signings are really fun because I'm usually pretty shy but these give me an excuse to talk to you and it's cool meeting fans, friends, and strangers who don't mind that my nervous sketches look more like my hand turkey drawings than they should.

NHP is finally back.
After this little delay, NHP will be updated on it's regular basis again, which makes me extremely happy!
I've got a new editor, so thanks Dave for getting him and thanks to my editor for bearing with my crappy English and last-minute changes.

Now, about this new page:

I REALLY hate it.
I hate it because it's old (around one year old), its plain and it doesn't have everything i wanted to show... It needs more soldiers, more accurate weapons and armors... You get the idea. I made three different versions of this page and I'm still not satisfied with it.
Anyway, we need to go through this pages in order to reach the ones I DO like.

Look who's now the proud owner of my "Secondmen" painting!!?

Why, of COURSE it's Zack Snyder, Director "Watchmen", "300" and one of my favorite remakes, "Dawn Of the Dead"!

Zack is dope, as I got a chance to meet him last week and seriously geek out on some stuff. I'm sure I probably Urkel-ed the fuck out of him, asking a ton of questions in a geeky voice, all about how the studio let him do DAWN they way he did, the reception of Watchmen, Gerard Butlers ABS! (note, ohmygodholyshit they were REAL and he SAW THEM!!!) and a ton of other stuff. But in true professional fashion, he was gracious as hell and not only chatted with me about everything, but talked to me a lot about his next projects, including a dark animated film about owls and an awesome secret project. we had a blast (at least i hope we did. haha) He (as well as his whole production team) is super supportive of us weirdo artists and it was really refreshing. If only someone didn't already fuck up the Day Of the Dead remake I would have begged to be a PA on that shit just to eat some flesh in the background.

So my final review of Zack: 9/10. I would have given him a 10 but he was in sweats!! It's impossible to get a 10 in sweats!

30 original paintings for sale!

Well, this is kind of a bittersweet entry into blogdom as I sit here watching Labyrinth (the prequel to Pan's Labyrinth where the girl, instead of being a nice little imaginative girl, is a terrible teenager and says "I HATE YOU!" to babies) and thinking about how much time i DON'T have to meet certain deadlines that are rapidly approaching. But that's not your problem. Nor is the fact that a severe, hippy-punching storm attacked the opening night to my solo show in Portland causing a lot of people (except the amazingly supportive local crowd) to stay indoors instead of outdoors where they would have surely been ass-raped by winds and hail.

So what am I getting at? Well, I have been extremely fortunate and appreciative in the past year or so to actually be able to sell some artwork in an economy where people aren't even buying porn. Being able to put together some cool art shows with affordable pieces has been really well-accepted in general, and simultaneously has helped pay the bills too. So 2 hours before the doors opened to my new show, when the city-wide storm warnings literally told people to stay inside their houses and NOT COME OUT AT ALL BECAUSE THEY WILL DIE, I got a little bummed. In the end, though, the rain let up and people showed up and I sold some art and i had an amazing show. Whenever I sell art, even if its one piece, its good news. But now for the better news: because not much sold at the opening, now everyone else who is not in the Pacific Northwest can get a chance to view/purchase some of my original art.

Tons of photos from my PDX Art Opening...

My recent solo show, "Self Portraits Of Other People", opened last thursday in Portland @ Upper Playground amidst city wide storm and tornado warnings, which scared off a lot of people in the beginning of the show, but after the storm let up, the locals came rain-dancing out from the donut shops and strip clubs to show their support. Thank you to everyone who came out and weathered the madness. I had a blast. Enough rambling, I will let the photos do the chattering:

The Zerofriends Crew, as usual, helped me a TON with the set up of the show, and I returned the favor by being fat and falling over in the only picture we took together.

As people started showing up, I freaked out. Nothing new.

I signed cards...

Man, I signed so much shit...I mean SHIRTS! I signed so many SHIRTS!

Artist Martin Ontiveros, who had an amazing 2-man show with Skinner last year, came through, and out of the 4 photos we took, this is the only one that came out, further proving that Blade hunts him on a regular basis.

One of my new acrylic paintings surrounded by some babies.

With Portland being all woodsy n' shit, I figured, "why not show the Night Of The Treeple video?" Btw, looking directly into the blue projection bulb for 4 seconds makes everyone's face a complete blue circle for the next 2 hours. Which, in turn, makes it WAY easier to talk to strangers. I highly suggest it next time you speak in public.

And speaking of BEERds, my new homie DangerEhren from Jackass came by to show me that not only is HIS beard is way better, but that his FACE is way funnier. I have some catching up to do.

It doesn't matter one bit that I have no idea who most of these girls are. What matters is that they showed up. Good work, Portland female race.

Well getting my computer back to the status quo hasn't been as easy as I'd hoped. I spend all day tweaking with printer setting trying to figure out the settings I used for the prints. (finally found it). Even figuring out the passwords for Snafu took me forever. Now I'm getting my scanner working again. Ugh this has been hell.

Greg and I have collaborated in the past and we really wanted to do something cool for our first Zerofriends collab, so we decided to stop planning and just jump right in and MASH UP both of our companies ("Zerofriends", and "I'm Scared") into a deformed frankenstein-ish pile of superheroes.
What started as an innocent play on the old "Superfriends" shirts that both Greg and I had when we were in fourth grade, morphed into something a little more monstrous after a few back and forth sketch-sessions.
The end result is now available for you to dress yourself up in thanks to the age-old craft of printing!!

Starting today, The "SCARED FRIENDS" design is an insane 11-COLOR screenprint available on 3 different colors of shirts (white, slate, and light blue). And we actually used the exact color palette of the old superfriends art when we were designing this graphic.

And, because both Greg & My bedroom walls were plastered with super hero posters and giant dinosaur-eating galaxy posters, we thought "Why not produce old school-style wall posters?!" Computer Woes

Hey just a quick update my computer got wiped clean and reformated due to some random problem I was having. And now I don't have photoshop. But my computer is up and working again enough for me to pop in here and say why I've been on radio silence for a little while.

But the good news is I think I've found my solution so Snafu can update while I'm gone to conventions. I'm VERY excited about it actually. I think this will be a great move for Snafu's future.

Ever since I placed up the Warpigs trailer, I have gotten nothing but good feedback, which gives me a fuzzy and warm feeling, but that could probably be cancer. So without a doubt I will start production of Warpigs Episode One.

I noticed in the forums, someone suggested that perhaps the people of Snafu could assist in the project. I think that it would be a wonderful idea in a way. So...for anyone who is interested in assisting in the Warpigs Project be sure to email me at:

I do not know exactly in full fledged detail what I need assistance in due to the fact that the episode just started being created. But here is a small list of things that would be wonderful:

-Voice Actors ((Do not get your hopes up on the roles of the main characters.))
-Sound Fx ((Surfing the net for stock and free sound effects never really end well or they have shite quality.))
-Animators ((I hope to make the episode a hell of alot more animated than the trailer, so if you know how to animate, you will probably be needed.))

I repeat, I do not know EXACTLY what I will need. But best I let you all know what could be possible. And no you will not get payed....I need money just as much as you do. Yes, you will get credit for what you do. Like I said, if you think you can help out, email me. Details shall be developed later on when things are in full motion. Sadly my classwork comes first, so things may have to wait till the end of that quarter which may be around June 20th, which explains why Brain Dead has not been updated. It has been almost impossible with all this crap happening. For those who have been waiting on Brain Dead, please be patient, because Brain Dead was not the only thing that was placed on hold because of school work, but also drawings of my own interest and commissions. Hell because of things being so chaotic I cant make it to this years Otakon ;.; I wanted to hang out with fans. But Otakon is nestled tightly between the time I am moving and the beginning of my summer semester. So yeah, right now things are pretty sucky.

Well I'm flying off to akon this weekend. If you're in dallas texas stop by the artist alley and say hi. Sooooo looking forward to this convention being over so I can get some sleep. I literally was home for a day and a half from fanime before I had to fly out again. I want to make comics so bad it hurts. Honestly I want to cut conventions out and just do comics all the time. But snafu survives almost entirely off of convention sales so its something I can't leave behind. Ugh. What I rerally need is a sales man to watch the booth for me so I can stay home and comic.

Where have I been and where am I going??

Its been a while since i stuffed my fat toes into my limited edition cyberspace shoes and gone web-surfing in the intergalactic ocean that is the internet. Although its only been a few days, somehow I have now developed a fear of it. An overwhelming fear that I can't pick up where I left off. Too many Twitters to catch up on, can't possibly respond to the insane amount of spam on myspace and facebook, and failblog scares me only because i will sit there for hours and stare at utter fail only to make myself feel better about only semi-failing.

However, fear isnt the only thing that has kept me away from Sandra Bullock's best movie (don't question it, of COURSE i mean "The Net" and i dare you to challenge me). In usual fashion, I have been juggling more projects than ever and neglecting my health and sanity to make sure they will rule the school. So with that all being said, here is some fun little info on what is going on with me in the next week or so:

1. A huge chunk of my internet-neglecting hours have actually been spent drooling over perfect actress Kristen Bell, who I have become so obsessed with that i actually sold the rights to my dreams and someone made some shitty movie about Beyonce and Ali Larter and didn't even include my heavenly love, Kristen. If any of you know her, please tell her I would love to take her to Toast, which is my new favorite restaurant. I will wear clean pants maybe.

2. BEHOLDDDDD!!!!

Finally, I am returning to PORTLAND, OREGON next week to install and show a brand new collection of artwork at the Upper Playground / 5024PDX Gallery! Last time when I did my show there, I thought it would be a cool experiment to not sleep at all and paint 30 paintings in 30 days. Well, that experiment killed me and I vowed NEVER to do that again. So instead i said fuck that, i can do the whole show in 3 WEEKS! So yah, I have been in and out of a haze, day in and day out pumping out new paintings and drawings for this new show which will be opening next Thursday, June 4. Hey everyone sorry for the super slow lack of updates lately. It's entirely my fault. It's because I've been insanely busy getting ready for this weekend. There are 3 conventions I've had to worry about this weekend. I'll be personally attending San Jose's Fanime convention. Then in Anime Boston this weekend Kroze will have some Snafu merch at the Yugioh Adridged Booth. Also at my Fanime artist alley tables I'll have some VG Cats merchandise and some Girl Genius books for sale. All while up in Toronto Scott Ramsoomair will be doing another convention called Anime North.

So a quick recap if you get a chance stop buy and visit me at Fanime in San Jose.

But I have Akon the very next weekend after Fanime so we'll see how much I get done next week. Conventions never stop I swear.

2 new Ultra-Limited prints Just released!

My favorite pieces that I have done in a long time are still the entire collection of "Letters From Digested Children" paintings that I created earlier this year. And they seem to be favorites of a lot of you, as well, as there has been various tattoos and fan art that has already popped up online, which is awesome. I always love when artists take a stab at interpreting my artwork and characters in their style, its cool.

This print was part of Alex's "Letters from Digested Children" Show at Upperplayground's Fifty24SF Gallery, which featured actual letters written by the children who have been eaten and are living in the stomachs of these monsters. Below is the "Police Report" statement regarding Theodore RooseFelt, the child trapped in this monster.

As told by his father, Gerald Nash. �We didn�t believe him. Little Darren had an overactive imagination. He cried wolf too many times. �Dad, the TV can see me! Dad, my cereal just jumped out of my bowl and ran away! Dad, My t-shirt stuck itself to me and is sucking my blood! Dad� blah blah,� Of course none of that was true. We would humor him for years. I cut up his shirt and would tell him I could hear it scream. I would unplug the television and I made a little pretend �firewall� so that the TV couldn�t see him. But it got overwhelming. Well, his grandmother made teddy bears and sold them to the local toy stores, and for his 6th birthday, she made Darren the largest teddy bear anyone had ever seen. She had everyone in our family help out with it, it was quite impressive. It took 6 adults just to get it up to his room. He loved that thing, named it Theodore RooseFelt, which I thought was a little too clever for a 6-year old. But soon enough, just like the TV, and the bed, and the toilet, he started making claims that something was inside of it. That while he slept, Theodore would inch closer to his bed, and even once, drool trickled from the stitching where the mouth was. Naturally, we were fed up. Nancy and I refused to humor him anymore. On Thursday mornings, Nancy always made pancakes in the shape of rockets, and Darren loved those. He waited at the table every Thursday hours before Nancy would even crack an egg. But yesterday, he never showed up to the table. I went upstairs to his room, and when I opened the door, I lost my breath and immediately felt drunk with confusion. Theodore, the giant teddy bear that took 6 GROWN MEN to position in his room, had been TORN to shreds, disemboweled of his cotton, and laid lifeless on the carpet. The room was in shambles, and Darren was nowhere to be found�

As told by Veronica�s neighbor, Lucille McHenry: "All of the kids used to go there, none of us parents really saw the problem with it. Hell, most of us even went there when we were kids. Of course no one was worshipping Satan, or giving kids cigarettes back then either! Regardless, we all hung out there since it was so close to our houses. It�s right behind MY backyard. The kids now call it Greyskull, because I guess it looks like some He-Man castle or something, but we always knew it as The Mouth. We never really questioned why it looked like that, though, we just figured Mother Nature had made a cool rock formation that looked like a scary face. Well, the word on the street is that The Mouth has been making some weird noises lately. Us parents discussed it, and little Sammy�s dad even went to check it out, and he�s a security guard for the Starbucks over by Admiral Lane, he�s not scared of anything! He did hear the noises though. He said it just sounded like some kind of raccoon or something must have crawled in there and got stuck and was singing its death rattle. We told the kids not to go back there for a while, until Mother Nature got rid of that raccoon. But last night, I heard some footsteps while I was downstairs taking my third pee of the night. I have been drinking a lot of Gatorade lately because the doctor said that being hydrated will help my love life. But anyway, I looked outside and I swear I saw little Veronica sneaking through my juniper bushes, but I quickly brushed it off �cause I had just woken up and I might have been still kinda dreaming. But about 5:30 AM I woke up again, but not by my bladder. The loudest rumbling was coming from behind my fence, where The Mouth is. The ground shook like Michael J Fox and I nearly fell to the linoleum. When the noise and the shaking ceased, I went outside. My fence was destroyed. My junipers were ripped out of the ground. And the strangest thing�The Mouth was gone. And not only was it gone, but there must have been a 30 foot deep hole where it had been. Now who would go and dig up an entire rock formation like that in one night? I hope Veronica�s ok. But I have a bad feeling that she�s not.�

New CHADAM Development article published!

A really cool, in depth article just got published online at CGW Magazine about the whole development process that has been going into creating the Chadam animated series that I am doing with HD Films an Warner Bros. And along with the article a few new screenshots got released, too! WIth your first look at VICEROY! And as an added bonus, I was lucky enough to get famed toy photographer Brian McCarty to beautifully photograph the Walrus Rider (photo above!), caught in mid-fantasy, "dreaming of blondes" as he did before his legs were stolen. (Note: Brian's legs were not stolen, The Rider's were.)

Finally that damned poster is done, so expect it to be in the store soon enough and at your local Snafu-Comic convention table! Oh joy and rapture, the first Brain Dead merchandise!

So it is back to the comic now, and I bet you all are a bit pissed at me for all the delays, but there are major reasons why so. So I made a list of major reasons why I am taking so long.

-Commissions: In need of alot of money for new apartment. Contact me on my deviant art!!!

-Schoolwork: I have my midterms this week, but mostly I am piled on with more work than usual.

-Looking for Apartment: Gotta live somewhere. And still trying to find an affordable place to live in.

-Finding a Job: Don't have enough commissions to live off of for the time being. So need to get a part time job as well. T.T

-Having Medical Issues: Enough said.

-Financial Issues: Dont we all.

So here are ze excuses but blah dee blah whoop dee doo.

On a different note I had an interesting situation. I was on the Forums to Champions Online and I decided to post up my fan comic involving Rumplekillskin into the fan art section. Suddenly I was accused of not being the real creator of the comic, they believed I wasnt Nick Kirschner. :B I know I am Nick....unless I am a clone. But when I asked him why does he think this, he started to rant about how these sad fuckers use good art that isnt theirs for publicity. Now, I understand where he is going at, and personally I agree that there are people out there like that and it pisses me off. But he has accused me of being a fraud and called me a sad fucker.....I am not a sad fucker. *Tear* So yeah.....if they are reading this....here is your proof. I am the actual creator of the fan comic. I should know......I drew that.

Well, best I get on out of here and continue the comic or something.

New Secret Voices of Chadam Revealed!!!

I know I haven't recently mentioned the CHADAM ANIMATED SERIES that I have been working on for almost 2 years now, but that's only because all of the exciting stuff I am forced to keep secret. Anyway, a handful of secrets that I have been almost to the point of physically leaking out of my pores has been unleashed like the Krakken today, courtesy of my favorite sci-fi blog, io9. I will not bore you with the details, but i WILL tell you that after you check this out, you should know that these 2 days of production were one of, if not THE, coolest days of my professional life. Seriously. I simultaneously shook, drooled, and smiled like Miley the entire 48 hours. Go check it out, more updates soon. Chadam is going to rule the school. The team that is producing it and slaving over it is incredible!

Well I woke up this morning feeling utterly overwhelmed with way too much to do and not enough time to do it. And when I find myself that pressured I do what most people do. I find a distraction for a bit to delay the inevitable workload. So webcomics it is. But what was meant to be a quick fun diversion turned into depression city. Filibuster Cartoons my all time favorite political cartoon is calling it quits with an indefinite hiatus. So my quick happy diversion has turned into unexpected bad news.

It makes me feel that upset feeling in my stomach like when you hear your cat just died. I don't like dead cats.

Shaking Babies

Well I was reading internet news as I tend to do from time to time (constantly) and I came across one of the million fluff pieces that aren't news but stupid stories designed to insight ignorant unaware people into come kind of frenzied rage. And oh how it works like magic every time. Normally I don't give these things much attention and particularly wouldn't bother mentioning it to you fine people. But this one has the most insane comments I've ever read on the internet and I've read a lot of insane comments.

Quick recap of what happened. Someone somewhere made a silly app for the iphone, this is NOT Apple that made it is just someone who made it and it can be played on the apple iphone. Well the app is of random bad sketches of babbies and they're crying and you can shake the phone and the baby gets giant red x's over it's eye's in a cartoon fashion to show that the baby died. and thus the point of the baby shaking app in the first place. I'm sure it took someone all of 10 minutes to make the application. I suck at programming and I could have even made this one. It's not some indepth thing it's just silly. Here you can see it for yourself.

Warning: If you have no concept of reality and can't understand a joke, or if you get incredibly offended when people shake their phones then don't watch this completely harmless video.

The comments were a varied range from "boycott apple", to feminist super-nazi-man-hatred, to hoping the person who made the game goes to jail for helping in murder, and of course that follows with he should be thrown in jail and butt raped (of course, you cant have christian outrage without butt sex involved to make everything ok again.) They also threw in that if we're so mad at this, we should also be mad at Grand Theft Auto. Oh and anyone who thinks this is funny should have been aborted or at the very least sterilized so they can never have kids to murder with their now expertly well practiced baby shaking skillz. I mean clearly nobody ever shook a baby before the iphone came out. Clearly.

Hey guys, feeling a little down today, well for the past few months now I have been unemployed. However, I now do a lot of side jobs as a graphic designer and make a fair amount of funds, some weeks are good and some well you know. I pay the bills and whatnot and my wife pays the rent. Drawing comics takes my mind off of the hard stresses of life. I have been working my head off for this past week helping with the launch of a product. Reading from you guys really help to keep me encouraged with these comics. I hope to feel better after this product has launched.

Sorry about no comic this week. I have been working on the Brain Dead poster, which is looking really uber cool so far. The end results will be worth the wait for both me and those whom are fans. Cause its so sexy, so sexy it hurts. But yeah, apologies but I need to focus on at least putting one Brain Dead item on the snafu table. More to come afterwards, lot of ideas coming along.

Damn, I know its horrible to complain about the heat, so instead I will complain about what the heat DOES to humans, which is KILL THEM IF IT GETS TOO HOT.
Im sweat-typing, which just means that i can't hunch over my keyboard and type like normal because if i do, every 4th letter I will watch a bead of sweat kamikaze itself onto a random letter-key and spread out through the nooks and crannies of the keyboard just seraching for placed to RUIN ANYTHING ELECTRONIC. Thus, the lack of super-informative post about my weekend that I promised right now.
Instead, I will let Katie from JUXTAPOZ do the tell you all about me helping out with a big HURLEY x YOUTUBE mural with Me, Skinner, Jeben Berg and Jason Maloney, since she just reported about my it beautifully over on the Juxtapoz Blog, so go check out some more pics and info now....

CAGE's "Depart From Me" Album Cover art revealed

"Leak, leak leak leak leak...."

It's been a long time in the making, musically, emotionally, and artistically, and I am more than proud to give you the first visual glimpse at the cover to the new full-length CAGE album, "DEPART FROM ME", that I did the entire package design for, and which will be in stores this July 7th, just in time for a Summer in Hell.

I know I have mentioned this album a LOT recently and there is good reason for that. Even though Cage is 4,000 miles away from me at most times, he is one of my best friends. We met through a couple of mutual Cardboard City friends during the production of his last album, Hells Winter, way back in the beginning of 2005, when I was just a random Cage superfan. Since we shared similar interests in film, influences, and imaginations, we started talking about working together in the future. I was ecstatic. Time went by and we kept in touch, worked on a couple of things with him, like merch, and posters, etc, but i was really just waiting to dive into one of his albums, knowing how descriptive and emotional his music was, and how demented his imagination was. I excitedly and patiently waited for his new album like Dracula counting the minutes to sundown, and about a year ago, he let me know it was finally coming together. We had verbally gone a visual journey of loose ideas back and forth in the months that his album was being molded, and with it changing lyrically and sonically so much during that time, the art direction did too. Some directions were weird, some were mean, some were fun, but overall, we both just knew that we need to wait until the album was done, then we can move on visually. So again, I patiently waited and pissed myself in excitement.

Finally, a couple of months ago he sent me the full finished album and i got to sit back, and for the first time in 4 years, just listen to my favorite musician skillfully and emotionally pour his melted heart out over the most ridiculously sinister drawling but catchy music orchestrated by F.Sean Martin of Hatebreed. That night was amazing for me. I listened to the album about 20 times by the next day when I started to sit down and come up with the visuals. And Cage trusted me and my imagination enough to just let me go nuts. So I did.

Above is the first glimpse at the album's visual side, which will actually include a fully illustrated 12-page booklet upon its release on July 9th, 2009.

If you havent heard any of Cage's music yet I really suggest checking it out. Not a fan of rap? I can tell you one thing. "Depart From Me" is almost indescribable as far as genre goes. It's not a rap album. And even with F.Sean's weird fused bass guitars and keyboards scaring every drum track on the album, it's not a rock album either. So I hope that you give yourself a chance to check it out in July. And here is a link to his myspace page:

Hey slow site updates my fault

Hey it's entirely my fault there haven't been much updates this week. I haven't gotten through all the editor/colorist emails yet for Titan Sphere/Naruto/Pirate Harbor/FF7 comics. I haven't done MyPanda and Snafu and Tin since I've got back, I've got Bleedman super busy on a project we need done by the end of the month for a convention Snafu will be attending soon.

So ummm don't hate me I'm a bottle neck that's holding everything up. But only temporarily I hope.

2.5 Weeks of Works and Weaks

These last 2 weeks have been a lonely whirlwind for me, both emotionally and, well, emotionally. I mean, on one hand, I shut the entire world down, turned off my phone, and dove head first into finishing all of the packaging for CAGE's new album, "Depart From Me...", working 14-18 hours a day for about 16 days in a row, befriending only my TweetDeck, PeaSoupAnderson's Cheese (courtesy of Kelton Wolfe), occasional podcasts, Tales from the Darkside, and the amazing video-game competition reality show on Sci-fi called WCG Ultimate Gamer. On the other hand, you have EASTER falling right in the middle of my crunchtime. Now, you probably don't know this, as I have never really been too vocal about it, but Easter holds a place in my personal Hell, and not because I got forced to watch Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey while being humiliated by a gang of unshaven babysitters, thought that did happen, but I'm over it. No, the whole Easter thing was a little different. It went something like this:

It was Easter Eve, a saturday, if i remember correctly. My sisters and I were decorating the Easter Tree with our Mother. We were singing Easter Carols...happy, excited, waiting for Dad to get home from work.
A few hours passed, and we started to worry. Dad wasnt home yet. Mom called the office. The said he had left.
After about a week ,the police gave up.
It was snowing outside, even though it was clearly April. The house was cold. I threw some logs on the fire....thats when i noticed the smell.
The firemen came, they broke through the chimney top. We were all waiting, expecting them to pull out some dead cat, or a bird...
Instead, they pulled out my father.
He was dressed in an Easter Bunny costume. He had been climbing down the chimney on Easter Eve, his arms loaded with eggs and candy. He was going to surprise us.
Thats how i found out there was no Easter Bunny.

This is the only picture i have of my father, its from the day they pulled him out. He looks so happy....

Actually, now that i think about it, it was Christmas, and with Santa Claus, and...yah, thats right, it wasnt me, it was Phoebe Cates, and she told me this story when she was in the middle of fighting little monsters. Oh well, you get the point. Maybe.

Regardless, this post is basically just a segue into getting me in the motion of blogging again, since, as I had holed myself in my studio, Twitter has become my only social life. Which i'm completely fine with as I have been getting bombarded with so many videos and articles that basically changed my life. Or didnt, but they could have if i paid attention to them. So thank you to everyone who kept me sane on Twitter while i was going INsane by myself.

Good news is, CAGE artwork and packaging is DONE DONE DONE, and it is the first time in my career that i have had complete freedom and trust from the musician and I think it will show when you finally see the work. The album is incredible and I am really proud of what we put together for the visual side of it.
I can't share too much with you right now, but take a look at an exclusive, highly detailed section of some of the art right below!

I know, its a little blurry, but it's super high rez so maybe if you just wait a while it will finish loading and become more clear.

Either way, I was glad to be a part of the album and I think this album is going to finally raise some eyebrows and get Cage the positive attention he has deserved for 10 years.

Now, with taxes done, Cage done, laundry done, maybe I'll take a day off? Or maybe i will just call Skinner tomorrow and we will paint all weekend until we pass out like my FAVORITE NEWSMAN, Dave Buckner:

Oh man this Panda brings back memories. This is one is just a speed trace of one of my super old Deviant Art drawings from clear back in 2004, Here's the original. I started by drawing a panda Spider-Man but I didn't like his pose it was too static for Spider-Man. Then I remembered my favorite Spider-Man I've ever drawn was on my DA account. So I copied myself. Kinda odd.

But anyhow wow yeah when I did this picture it was pre-Spider-Man 2 movie coming out. Back when Spider-Man was great and I was super obsessed. I wonder where my love of Spiddy went.

Although one thing that does bum me out about this. Looking at my DA account (which I haven't seriously touched in years) it's starting to feel like my art is getting worse then I was in 2004. That's depressing. I wonder what happened.

After the overwhelming (I mean this loosely, nah but it was a good much) response for editors. I have narrowed it down to 2 people, Kelly Ehm and Kevin Smith,who I want to thank dearly for their efforts. Both are good editors that I want to keep. I decided I will alternate them between chapters of Pirate Harbour and Titan Sphere. I will credit them and for there hard work I will take art request from them every so often. (Not that I want to, I want money from them...lol!)

So I finally caved and I joined twitter. Honestly. I don't know what the point is yet. And I'm not posting about it to say "hey add me" I'm posting about it to ask A) what's a good application on the T-Mobile G1 to Twitter with I know there are a billion, and 2) what IS the point? what do I do with this new found tweeting power? It seems like a virtual stalking service and that's something to active avoid not sign up for. I'm confused.

Banking Oopsie

K so I managed to pay my credit card twice today. My internet browser froze while it was making the online transfer from my checking account to my credit card. So I closed that window logged back in checked to see if there was a pending transfer, which there wasn't. So cool it didn't go through no big deal. So I started the process again transfered money from my checking to my credit card and then boom there are two of them. So I paid twice. I thought ok there must be a way to cancel this quickly since it takes 2-3 days for transfers to go through anyways. I can't do it online. So I call my bank, they can't do it since it's a card transfer so they send me over to Visa. And they say they can't do it until the money actually comes to them in 2-3 days.

This SUCKS.

But banking woe's aside yesterday was a pretty good day. I got home from my week long excursion to Seattle for Emerald City and SakuraCon (thanks again everyone for coming to the panel I had a blast.) and when I got home from driving that long I was dead tired. so I did a few small errands like picked my computer up from the repair place, replaced my broken watch band, and ripped wallet, and bought groceries just enough for two days of eating. I went home and had a relaxing day. Which may have been a bad idea since I do have so much work to catch up on. But at the same time I had a week and a half of awesome shows to catch up on to :)

I watched the two newest episodes of South Park which I loved throughly. the Eat, Pray, Queef episode was ridiculously funny to me. My favorite part is how they made fun of themselves with the two part terrance and phillip episode and they didn't show the second part since it was april fools day. South Park did that exact same thing way back in the day when the big thing was "who was Cartman's Dad." and instead of showing the second part they showed a Terrance and Phillip episode on April Fools. South Park fans were PISSED. So the entire episode to me was a this really happened event of sorts. I thought it was brilliant.

Oh and I also watched a ton of 30 Rock season 2 on the Xbox 360's netflix account. I love that show. Baldwin is hilarious and Tina Fey is officially a genius for coming up with the show.

Other than that not much happened yesterday. Today though I need to work work work to catch up from being gone for so long. I'm also thinking of finding a Fresno Chiropractor since my back has been killing me since I got home. I think the driving destroyed me.

Sakura Con was a BLAST! Thanks so much to everyone that came to the Snafu-Comic Panel. It was basically awesome. Thanks to Sabrina for having us there at Sakura con. Also Thanks to Tycho and Gabe for being super nice to me. I also got the chance to say hi to Greg and Liz again. Always a pleasure.

I'm going to catch up on Shark Robot e-mails tomorrow. But for now my head is pounding with a headache the size of some large headache that pounds. But tomorrow I'm going back to work on comics :) MyPanda is a good start though. And I strangely really like this one.

I am still recovering from the hospital, hopefully should be back on my feet by next week. And I also finished penciling the Brain Dead poster, once done it will be up for purchase.... This weekend I bought a nerf heavy machine gun, automatic and all. The damn thing had a tripod and ammo cache for the ammo belt, and a anti jamming system for crying out loud. I love it to death but it seems like nerf has become training kids to use real weaponry. Oh well fuck it.....I love my gun.

Well I'm sitting waiting for opening ceremonies to start when I realized I can type news posts on my phone now. So I've checked up on snafu and I'm a bit disappointed in the lack of updates in my abscence but that's to be expected I suppose. Anyhoo ill be back tuesday night and ill immediately get to work on snafu tin and mypanda. And ill start to sift through the great submissions we've got for editors and colorists for the new comics. Once we get those setup we should have naruto updating regularly for a long time and mypanda forever. And final fantasy can get rolling as well.

As for my week in seattle its been incredibly boring. I was alone chilling in my motel for two day straight and when shawn from halolz flew in on wednesday I was excited for company but he slept all day long. Thursday we setup our booths and that leaves me at today. Dull week. Oh well.

Oh and my gateway netbook laptop thing broke on this trip. Again. Its the third time I've taken it to three cons and all three cons its failed me. Never ever under any circumstances buy a gateway they suck big time.

Oh and if you're at sakura con stop by the panel today at 4 pm. It should be decently fun I hope plus there is a webcomics panel tomorrow morning at 9 with penny arcade me greg from real life comics shawn from halolz and possible some more peeps. Should be rad.

So far I got a nice lil animation made, just have to edit it a bit and I may be able to post it up on the site just for the lolz. I recently cause a disease that has been supposedly goin around due to stress killing the immune system. I should hopefully recover within the week. But that wont faulter the comic.....unless I have to go to the hospital...then I would scream at my roomie as they take me out on a stretcher. "BRING THE LAPTOP!!! I MUST DRAW ZOMBIEZ!!" But yeah I should be ok. See ya all later.

I have had a Twitter account for a while, I set it up last year before comic con basically to keep mental notes and share with you any sightings of overweight Iron Man costumes or any run-ins with old wrestlers or quasi-celebs (yah im looking at you, Wishmaster guy). Then I kind of stopped using it, but it recently grew on me like a wart after a questionable night, so I have been using it a lot more lately, and sometimes i say funny stuff that you probably won't understand because I have a lot of in-jokes with myself. But nonetheless, if you have an account, you should follow me for a while....

Tomorrow, April 2nd, marks the opening of "IDIOT BOX", a group show that I am a part of at GALLERY 1988 LA that is honoring the guilty pleasures of television. The event is going to be insane, i have seen a handful of the pieces and they are incredible, and to top it all off, you can share a beer with Mr. Fucking BELDING, who is hosting the thing!
Unfortunately for me, I won't be able to make it to the opening, but I will definitely be there in spirit, as GALLERY 1988 is releasing a super-limited edition print of my "S.Urkel Jerk" Piece that I contributed for the show.
The print is 16" x 20", limited to an edition of 30, and the price is ridiculously low (i'm not 100% sure on the price, but the gallery will know;).

I really wish i could go down there. 1988 usually does some rad shows, partly because they are right next store to Golden Apple Comics so it turns into a huge party of art, nerds and booze and it's amazing.

Seattle: Weekend Update Part 1

Been brushing up on my Spanish, learned to say "Hello, Friends", so "Cago en tu leche, amigos!"
So quick update, ZEROFRIENDS will be appearing/exhibiting at a couple of conventions in SEATTLE, WA within the next week.

I'm an idiot

Let me tell you what an awesome time I've been having lately. Yesterday k I go to ship order for Shark Robot. I get all of them sent. Forgot my wallet, which is the 2nd time in like a week. The last time was in Red Robins. Went home got my wallet all taken care of no biggie what ever.

This was the prelude to today.

Today I went to pay rent. I had ONE job to fill and that was it. I go to pay rent and on the way to the realtor that I drop the check off at I start up a conversation with Anath from AppleGeeks I get to the realtor and turn off the car and continue chit-chatting and by the time I put the phone down the place closed five minutes prior. I'm an IDIOT.

Then on the way home I take a wrong left turn and feel retarded. But whatever I decide to go to Office Depot and buy some Rubber-Bands. $2 item. No big deal. My Visa card has issues. Not that big a deal my card gets turned off nearly monthly or more because I purchase like everything online and Visa is terrified my card was stolen... again. And the thief just happens to shop at all of the places I shop at online every month. Whatever. Anyhow after that radness I go to my car to realize I've locked my keys in my car. Sweet. I try and call for my roommates to come rescue me with my spare set and when I call I get connected to my blue tooth headset (in the car) and I wonder why my phone doesn't make a noise. I realize what happened and since I have no idea how to not connect to that damned thing when it's in range I just have to walk far enough away from my car to call normally. I get rescued and decide to go to Home Depot to get another spare car key made just incase I do that again. They can't make that key. Awesome.

So today I'm losing my mind and I was a COMPLETE failure.

My official first comic to be posted on the new Snafu syndicate. This comic is somewhat auto biographical in that a little over a year ago I went to job services trying to find a way to escape retail. It was a terrible experience where they made you fill out forms and list your dream jobs. Apparently there were no openings for Batman, Dragon Slayer, or Professional Woman Pleasurer. Which is sad really cause I feel like I'd be awesome at any of those jobs.

Hey everyone Snafu needs some volunteer help. Dedmerath's Naruto:Heroes Path Comic and Stan's Pirate Harbour/Titan Sphere comics need an editor to help them be concise with proper grammar. Are there any editors out there that can help them with the text editing a bit?

And lastly there is a new comic series coming to Snafu soon but the line art is so good it would be awesome to have a colorist out there who likes to... well color. Just a quick sample or what I'm talking about.

Cage E.P. Exclusive Cover Preview

So, as I am heavily crunching away on the new CAGE "Depart From Me..." album art (going to be like 12 pages of all new illustrations and will be released on DEFJUX June 29th) I thought it would be relevant to share an additional part of Cage's universe with you.
As you may know, or may NOT know, Cage is releasing a download-only E.P. with about 8 new songs before "Depart From Me..." is released! I'm not sure when this E.P. will be officially released, but if you pay attention to CAGE'S MYSPACE PAGE , you can probably find out soon.

Anyway, the 2 albums will tie in both sonically and visually, even though the art styles will be completely different (The "Depart From Me.." art is going to be NUTS), but I thought you might want to take a peek at the cover for the "...I Never Knew You" E.P. So here it is....

And Cage just wrapped his new video for the single, "I Never Knew You" which will be featured both on the E.P. and on "Depart From Me..." which Shia LaBeouf directed and Dan Byrd (the kid from one of my favorite movies, the Hills Have Eyes remake) stars in. This song is pretty rad to. Not quite as rad as the Toxic cover. But still awesome. Thanks to Epilepsylink in the forums for telling me about it. This one isn't nessicarily way better than the original one like Toxic was. It's more just a different take on it that's still super rad. the Toxic cover had more energy than the original and was more exciting. This one strangely seemed to have less energy but directed in a completely different way. There is one other cover song that I fucking LOVE to death more than either of these but there isn't a video for it. Maybe I can find a link to just the song though.

So you know that old phrase, "For every action theres, like, a different action that doesn't really have much to do with the first one, but is rad anyway."?
Well, that fits today perfectly, because amongst the chaos of me being called a cheater and liar, on the OPPOSITE spectrum, something really cool has happened. Thank GOD its FRIDAY:

YouTube is an amazing company, even after the whole "corporate thing" went down and its harder to use licensed music and stuff. The other day, YouTube contacted me and wanted to "Spotlight" the URKEL TIMELAPSE video that I put up a couple weeks ago. However, instead of just saying "YOU USED THE THEME SONG THATS ILLEGAL SHIT WE HATE YOU", they actually kindly just asked if I was willing to change the music and re-upload it so they COULD feature it. Now, granted, the new version isn't as powerful, but the fact that they were willing to work with me to MY BENEFIT, is insane and cool. No way I'm changing the Shia LaBeouf video tho, The New Kids on the Block song is too close to home.

So yah, my Urkel Video is the "Spotlight" on the front page of "FILM AND ANIMATION" . That's a huge deal to me.

Hello Everyone.
I just wanted to offer a HUGE thank you from both myself and Jon Dragonette, who's contest i posted about yesterday.

Unfortunately, my intentions were misconstrued and tarnished Jon's image within the admin department of that website as I was accused of helping Jon cheat because there is "no possible way Jon could have got that many votes without cheating". Jon bowed out of the contest after numerous attacks from the admin department and from other contestants pointing the admin department to ME. Jon feels strongly enough about the situation in Laos and his project that he would rather not have that VISION tarnished, regardless if he won, by people accusing him of cheating to get to pursue his dream. Jon can actually say it better than me, so here is Jon:

"This is where I bow out. This competition was never about me, but the idea I really wanted the world to recognize. It seems that this has turned into more of a popularity contest, and less of an outlet for people to pursue their dreams. I don�t need the help of a big corporation to pursue this project, although I saw this contest as an opportunity that would help me to get a head start on a project that I believe in. I really appreciate the positive feed back and help from all my friends and family who voted for me. However, I feel that it is best for me to bow out of the competition as I just cant have this idea dragged through the gutter because people are angry. I don't want my dream assignment to be attached to anything less sincere than was originally intended. I am still going to continue to work hard to support this cause and make it to Laos eventually.

There are things I understand about the outrage of the other competitors/admins and things I don't.
First off, Jon had NOTHING to do with me campaigning for him. I simply got his email saying that he was a part of it and asking his friends for support. I read about his project, and i thought "Holy shit, this is amazing, I want to try to help as much as i can." I had no idea the positive (but ultimately negative) effect that my campaigning would have.
I agree, when I phrased my excited encouragement in my blog post as "already voted yesterday? re-register with a different email and re-vote! i DID!" i was naively encouraging spam. However, Jon got an UNCANNY amount of votes yesterday, and yes, i would imagine that there were a COUPLE of re-casted votes, but in every one of these "vote for me" contests, the CONTESTANTS' sole purpose is to USE their RESOURCES to GET FUCKING VOTES. So let's take a look at what I (only ONE of Jon's resources) DID TO HELP POINT PEOPLE TO THE WEBSITE:

I posted it on my numerous blogs, including my website, my MySpace (30,000 friends), Twitter, Facebook, Upper Playground's blog, DeviantArt (3500 subscribers), my clothing company's newsletter (2900 subscribers), my personal email list, and the front page of one of the most popular web-comic sites, Snafu-Comics. On top of that, I encouraged everyone I sent it to to also post it on their blogs, etc. I did all of this in ONE DAY. Hell, Snafu-Comics ALONE is ranked 14,091 on ALEXA (the leading web "ranking site which means out of the millions of websites there are, only 14,000 of them are more popular than Snafu) versus the contest's shitty website being ranked down at 111,358.
So, to all you whiners who think there was "something shady going on" when Jon's votes skyrocketed in one day, here is something to think about:
MAYBE the fact that in ONE day, a few hundred thousand people were simply NOTIFIED about Jon's cause, AND this shitty website, and a few HUNDRED of them actually AGREED that Jon's cause was worthwhile enough to vote for??
Jon's "dream" project of going and photographing and helping the villagers in Laos because the United States dropped 2 million tons of mines in the Vietnam war is so fucking amazing, do you honestly think that out of the hundreds of thousands of people that saw this post, that no one would think this is cool enough to vote for??? That's INSULTING both to Jon and to the integrity of the project!
OF COURSE his votes are going to go up! Even if i didn't encourage anyone to vote for him and simply put a link up, his votes STILL would have increased rapidly simply because of statistics.

With that being said, the sole purpose of running a website that is based on USER-GENERATED content and advertisements is to USE their registered users to GET NEW PEOPLE TO THE SITE. These kind of sites, like threadless, or cafe press, etc would not exist if the users DID NOT CREATE CONTENT AND THEN TELL PEOPLE TO GO THERE. That's why these kind of sites can't afford to SHIT on the people, like Jon, that are actively using their site and BRINGING NEW USERS ON BOARD! When you have to register to vote on these sites, and with Jon's votes increasing by 1000, that means that THAT WEBSITE GOT 1,000 NEW REGISTERED USERS in ONE DAY! Nowadays when there is so much oversaturation on the internet, 1,000 new registered users is probably worth 50 grand by itself, so here's Ray Liotta to say something to you: "FUCK YOU, PAY ME.". And I'll pay Jon and send him to Laos, and together we will propose a new "dream" project that will LOWER AWARENESS of this website and the people who fucking whined about him getting votes.

I hate you.

I think it's noble of Jon to bow out, and I understand why he did it, but I think that you fuckers who contributed to his guilt and his withdrawl should learn how to use the internet for things other than complaining. Amazon's got a sale on cribs. Buy one, cry-babies.

I've been gone for a bit it seems from the site but I've actually been working on Snafu harder than I have in a long time. Literally everyday all day programing and fucking around with things.

So I've got the link section up and working again finally. I added a mega-shit-ton of comics as well. There are some really good quality comics in there and it's worth checking out.

I updated the convention list.

Got a new advertising network signed on with Snafu which I'm really excited about (thanks so much for taking the survey again.)

Also I fixed the site a bit how it used to pop into the center once everything got loaded. So that makes me a LOT happier.

I then went through all the archives and updated them so there weren't any nameless blank comics everything is fixed on all the archive pages.

I started MyPanda although I haven't got the comic buttons updated yet.

I broke the side background images fixing the site's popping issue so I have to go and fix that up on every page.

I'm still trying to get RSS 100% so it doesn't break browsers trying to open it up.

Slowly slowly getting Snafu error free and up to 100% like it should be.

Oh and my computer needs the motherboard replaced because the ram on the videocard which for some reason is surgically attached the the mother board went bad. Thank god it's under Warranty still. So busy busy busy lately. I'm going to keep working on the site though. I want it as perfect as possible. Also a new Naruto comic will go up as soon as I get done editing it tomorrow.

And for the people that pre-ordered the Watchman shirts from Shark Robot they should all be shipping Friday and Saturday. We're just waiting on the blank shirts at this point and we'll get it taken care of.

Phew that was a long boring post. But just a heads up of what I've been doing. I should keep you more updated than I have been. I apologize.

Potpourri, with In Flames, Shia, KidRobot, and Cake Face....

A few random things to update about, and my follow up commentary to the Home Invasion video, which seems to be a hit according to your comments.
So let's talk about that first.

We all had a shitload of fun making that video, and even more fun reading some of your insane comments. Stephen Reedy directed and edited it, and my homies the New Kids on the Block sang backup. Now, granted, Shia is a retardedly talented actor who pretty much carries most of the movies he's in, including stealing most of the scenes away from the CGI stars in Transformers thanks to the robots having zero personality but tons of ethnicity. And yah, that dude can switch into acting mode faster than Carrie's demeanor can change if she's draped in pigs blood. With that being said, it was hilarious reading some of the comments asking if this was "real", because we honestly didn't think anyone would assume it was real at all, so we weren't even trying to hide anything, such as Shia being in the timelapse, but that just means that once again, Shia carried this movie and made it believable. But what was funnier than those "is this real" questions, was the NUMEROUS responses that pointed out all of the evidence that it was staged, such as:

"no, you can see Shia at 1:18, totally staged."
"fake, shia is even wearing one of alex's shirts."
"alex already knew shia, from Cage, and also there's a picture of him with the transformers"
and even the real investigators got on board:
"alex NEVER told Shia that he was from San Francisco. FAKE!!"

So OK, you caught us, but why the fuck didn't ANY ONE OF YOU prove it's falseness by saying "OF COURSE ITS FAKE THERE IS A DEAD MEXICAN BEING USED FOR COMEDY REASONS!!!" Not one person pointed out that if this was real, it would not only be an admittance of MURDER, but close to the first actual proof of a snuff film via the internet. You guys are weird;)

But yah, I had a blast. I have known Shia for a few years now as he has been developing a feature film based on the early life of Cage, and it has been really cool watching him both blow up AND mature as an actor. Dude is talented as fuck.

Today is a day full of favorites, i guess.
First the Hi-Fructose thing, and now a little something about my favorite photographer, Jon Dragonette.
I met Jon when he photographed me for my Juxtapoz article a couple of years ago, and we instantly hit it off because he was down to break into abandon warehouses with me and play dress up and pretend we were shooting a hollywood movie when the cops came.
And to top it off, his photos turned out amazing.
He and I have since done a few other projects together, like the Treeple project, the first Sparks tour, some UP ads, etc. and we have become good friends.

Anyway, Jon has been working for years helping to raise the awareness of the neglect of forgotten landmine victims in Laos in preparation to go photograph some of the surviving victims and the Laotian people who still go and retrieve these active mines to help out their villages, and in return showcase his work around the world and donate the profits to the surviving victims. This is Jon's dream photography assignment and has been for years, and I think it's amazing. Well, an opportunity came up where he has a chance to win $50,000 towards this dream project, and he asked me to help get him some votes from YOU GUYS to help him complete his dream project. So I am asking you to kindly take 2 minutes out of your day (if you agree with the cause) to register and vote for Jon. Hi-Fructose is not just one of my favorite art magazines out there, but it's one of my favorite magazines of all time. even better than Ranger Rick, Highlights, and Foreskin Quarterly put together. That last one, FQ, tho, is quite an odd piece of collected trees that is dedicated to the beauty of the "uncut" man that I would have never discovered had I not had a job handling international magazine returns for Tower Records back in the day. And yes, Hi-Fructose is better than that one;)

Attaboy, Annie, and the rest of the Hi-Fructose crew have assembled a ridiculously amazing roster of artists together for a showcase at the COPRONASON gallery in Los Angeles next week which i am proud (and really humbled seeing a lot of the preview images) to be a part of. I think I should be there in person as part of a signing of the new hardcover collected HI-FRUCTOSE BOOK, too which is a STEAL at 25 bucks on amazon, go there and get it

Hello everybody! My name is Dedmerath and from now on I will be hanging around here, on Snafu. As you can tell, my comic is about Naruto, and it's settled well after the current events of the original story. Of course, there will be a LOT of differences with Kishimoto's work as his comic progresses, but please bear with that. You will just have to assume that they defeated the Akatsuki and everyone is happy, or something along those lines.

I'm kinda embarrassed with the first pages too... I did them quite a while ago, so when i see the text and artwork i really think they are awful... But, oh well, I'm sure you all will help me improve a lot.

I did it for the LOLZ.

But yeah it is a new superhero MMO made by the guys who did City of Heroes except that they branched off from NCSoft. Saying that they had no more limitations to what they can do in the games now. And so far the customizations and variety for Champions Online looks quite promising. You can even customize your powers and how it looks.

So check it out, I know I will when it comes out. I like daydreaming about being a super hero. In fact.....

I'm a firm believer in "Taking hints".
If I am heading out on a long drive, and there is a homeless man at the intersection who turns his sign around to read "Beware of the long drive. You are doomed," at first I laugh and say, "What a silly little bum." and I continue driving.
But then, lets say, I see a burnt hitchiker a few miles later with a sign saying "Sometimes dead is NOT better, Alex." Well, that doesnt matter usually either and I toss whats left of my Iced Chai out the window and scream "Sometimes PEETS is better! Than Starbucks!" And i laugh and continue to drive. But then if i stop at a truck stop and a ghostly jogger named Pascual walks up with a head injury and moans "Don't go, Alex, Dont do ittttttttt." Then i thank him, take a hint, cancel my plans and turn around.

Where am I going with this?
Well, I don't really remember now that the whole spinal meningitis scene from Pet Sematary is flashing in my brain. Oh yah, hints!
Well, here is a pretty blatant hint that I would like for you to take, free of hint-charge. (if you are a child of the 8-bit NES Nintendo Power Hotline era, then you know that hints, especially Metroid hints, are charged by the minute and your parents hate paying for hints).

In a rather embarrassing, but endearing moment at my uncle Randy's wedding, upon their first "married" dance, they nervously looked into each other's eyes and the rage of their previous night's alcohol and salmon shot forth towards each other, but like some sort of disgusting fairy tale, the vomit clashed and morphed into a flock of beautiful butterflies. My friend, Jon Dragonette was there to capture the moment. And that moment has always touched me.

Quadruple Update, Including the PREDATOR...

Just a couple of things to start off the week....
Yes, I know its Friday. But fuck it, my weeks are different. Because, unlike every Kate Hudson movie, i'm ORIGINAL.

First, YES, i have seen WATCHMEN. Thanks to Jeben Berg, I was able to sneak into a press screening last week and see it. I am going to see it again tomorrow to make sure it all seeps in correctly before scream about it. I would love to review it in depth, but my time may not allow me to. But in short, with the exception of the CGI Lynx-cat and Malin Ackerman's acting on MARS, i LOVED LOVED LOVED it. Period.

Secondly, I would like to both thank and apologize to everyone who came out to WONDERCON last week to visit the Zerofriends Booth and to say hi to me. I was ridiculously sick that weekend so I tried my best to come hang at the booth and meet people, but because so many people were asking to make out with me and my amazing phlegm-filled mouth, I kept having to leave to lay down. On Sunday I was barely even there....
And to the people that I DID manage to hang out and make out with and draw things for, I am very sorry if i seemed out of it or drew you something shitty or not at all. I will make it up to you soon. Hopefully.
My mother and father came by tho, and it's always nice to get their support...

Scribbles of War

This one is a bit hard to explain. It's VERY sketchy and up close it doesn't look like an image of anything. But far away it comes together and becomes more obviously marcus' face and the Gear Logo. Kind of a neat effect. The shirt itself is also a neat effect. It has a rusted randomized look to it making no two shirts the same. This one is also only in an extremely limited run. If we decide to keep the shirt going after this print it won't be in the rusty shirt color look... if we decide to keep it at all. Right now we're leaning limited run then call it good.

Both shirts are on sale for $15.95 which is a discount of our normal price. And they'll only be cheaper for the initial pre-order which ends on the 20th. So order them now while you can :)

I didn't make up a single name in the "good version" of street fighter. They are all versions of Street fighters that marginally improved upon the original (usually Street Fighter II). And all of them came out about six months apart from each other or less back in the SNES days. It's always been one of my pet peeves when a company will release a game and then release a special edition of the same game later. Ir really screws over your hardcore original fans who supported your game to begin with. I just hope that with the advent of Xbox Live the new editions of Street Fighter will be downloadable add ons rather than a whole new game to buy. We'll see.

Also it's GREAT to be making comics again. Seriously great. So glad conventions are over for a bit.

Non Con and New Server

Well I'm sure most of you noticed the server down time yesterday. We were moving to a new server. Basically the same stats as the old server with an updated OS and a motherboard that isn't completely broken. So that's what was happening with that. Ryan by the way is the greatest human ever EVER. He totally saved Snafu's but with the server switch which is like the millionth time he's came to the rescue when server problems arise. Oh and yeah Nick that's why the comic didn't appear was the server troubles.

And then Non Con news. I'll be attending Non Con today in Poughkeepsie New York. I'll have a brand new Kingdom Hearts print from Bleedman, a new Watchman shirt which is hella awesome, and the new Gears of War shirt we had at New York Comic Con... plus our older merch of course. So if you get a chance stop by and say hello. And incase you're on the west side of the continent I'll be attending WonderCon in San Francisco next weekend. I'll be there with Kroze from Yugioh Abridged and Felicia Day (codex) from The Guild. All at the same corner booth. Should be rad.

I get a lot of questions about where/how I work, even though you can see a lot of my studio space in most of my videos/interviews. But the basic answer is that I'm so caught up in my head I don't really know the answer to either of these questions. If you asked me in person I would probably say (excitedly): "I think I work in Atlantis with my assistant, Poseidon and his father, The Terminator from about midnight to 2029 every night."
But either way, here are a couple of photos of where I sit 17 hours a day.
Most of the time it's a lot messier than this.

The video shows myself, Bob Dob, Frank Kozic, Shawn Barber and Mark Dean Veca talking about our contributions. And once again, I nervously talk loud and move my hands all palsy-ish like Will Farrell in Talladega Nights. Everyone else looks so relaxed....

SPOILER ALERT.
I'm serious about that. If you haven't seen the new Friday the 13th and kind of give a shit, don't read this....

I just spent the night gazing my jaded eyeballs on the silver screen watching the new Friday The 13th with my girlfriend and I now have the overwhelming urge to tell you about it. In an economy devoid of a lot of positivity I somehow seem to continuously still muster up a fistfull of hope every time I find out that a movie is coming out that I want to see. So naturally I was pretty excited to see Friday the 13th. Why, you ask? Actually, I have no fucking idea why. But nonetheless, I was excited, or at least hopeful.

Now, I'm not really against the "remake" idea. Hell, 3 of my favorite movies, John Caprenter's "The Thing" and "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" and even Zack Snyder's "Dawn of the Dead" are all remakes, so I would be kind of a hypocrite if I was outright against them. I DO feel, though, that to automatically default to doing a remake of something because everyone is lacking original ideas is a pussy way of making money, but whatever, it happens. And since i LIKE going to the movies, and those are a majority of what's in the theaters, I still go, and i still have an equal amount of hope each time i enter that large room of strangers and uncomfortable seats where a kid probably shat himself during Madagascar 2 the prior week.

But if we were to compare my recent movie-going experiences to, let's say, a religious practice, like going to church or Temple, it would be like walking into a church every Sunday, sitting down waiting to get enlightened, and by the end of the Sermon, the pastor tells you he fucked your girlfriend with a tire iron, or that Jesus was a liar, or just flat out punching you in the throat and taking your money and buying Coke for your little sister right in front of you, causing you to leave in a hurry and never go back to that church. Yet somehow during the week, you forget all about that and head right into a different Church to try again, only for the new pastor to slap you in the face with a huge crucifix-shaped shit that he pulled from his ass. I think that basically explains my recent trips to the movies.

So on to "Friday the 13th" I guess. It's pretty tough watching this with unbiased eyes, basically because the major reason why the original Fridays are so dear to me are because they are nostalgic, not because they are good movies. I like them because when I first saw them, they were new, and raw, and other than JAWS i hadn't seen movies where the musical score dictated just as much suspense as the first-person POV shots and the moonlit sets. They scared me. Since then I have seen all 11 of them countless times, and while some stand the test of time more than others, all of them generally follow the rules that were set in stone in Parts 1 and 2. Even when Jason fought a psychic with mind powers, or got resurrected by lightning, or took a cruise ship to Manhattan, there were extremely easy rules that were established in the mythology that most of them stuck to. And the ones that didn't (like part 5, or Jason goes to Hell) were the most laughable of the series. It seems like an obvious choice that, if you are creating a remake of an established franchise, or even a "re-imagining", then you need to at least stick to the one or 2 main rules that made the original such an iconic franchise. Because if you are NOT going to do that, then just make a different movie, right? And the lamest argument that proves my point even more is this one:

"Well, everyone has SEEN the original and they know the twists and turns, so we need to change it around a little and make it FRESH. It's going to be a LOT different but still have the same SPIRIT."
"Really? You're adding some supposedly creative and original ideas and rules and shit into an idea that someone ELSE already did and you're arrogant enough to butcher something that is already done because you want to USE the name that someone else already made great, but add your shit-for-ideas into the mix because you want some credit for making it COOL and DIFFERENT? Then make a fucking ORIGINAL movie. Shit even make the SAME kind of movie, call it something different, then when someone says you just copied this other old movie, THEN you can tell them its an HOMAGE. It's simple."

Whatever. The new Friday The 13th wasn't the worst movie in the world, and not even close to the worst remake as of yet (See BLACK CHRISTMAS for that one), but it sure as hell had some pretty bad dicks-to-the-faces-of-the-fans. Main case in point: What is the main motivation of JASON, as established in the first 3 movies? It's simple. He KILLS camp counselors that work at Crystal Lake out of VENGEANCE for a camp counselor killing his MOTHER. Thats what Jason does. He DESTROYS camp counselors and sometimes other people if they get in his way of killing counselors. Every FRIDAY movie has camp counselors re-opening Crystal Lake, or working at a camp nearby, or whatever, but they are always camp counselors. With the exception of part 5, where "Jason" killed insane kids in an halfway house, but that wasnt Jason anyway, it was a copycat. So yah, Jasons mom gets killed by a camp counselor, and he in turn kills counselors. Easy.

Now lets look at the new remake version. Does Jason kill camp counselors? No. Instead, he is protecting his MAGICAL MARIJUANA CROP and killing PEOPLE WHO LIKE TO SMOKE OR STEAL HIS WEED. I am not fucking joking. At all. In fact, the premise was so absurd that I didn't even let myself believe it until an hour after i left the theater. There is no active Camp Crystal Lake. The Camp was closed years ago and thats it. There are no camp counselors. Instead, there is a hillbilly that steals weed crops and jacks off to mannequins, and a group of teenagers that like to smoke weed and hate each other so much that it's obvious that going away on a weekend trip into the woods must have been some kind of punishment from the high school principal, where I imagine the sentencing must have gone something like this:

Principal: "Each one of you, on separate occasions, have been caught with marijuana, so i am sentencing you all to a retreat in the woods where you CAN smoke weed, but someone will kill you for doing so."
Black Rapper: "Damn, son, you KNOW i aint goin out there with this Honkey, he likes BASEBALL and shit! Look at his hair, he's got HONKEY hair!"
Rich Jock: "Yah bro! And I am NOT letting that black guy next to me, he will BREAK and STEAL everything to pay back his drug dealer! I'm rich!"
Some Chick: "Youre gonna smoke weed in the woods??! Sick, i'll blow all of you guys if you let me go."
Asian Silly Kid: "Does that mean you'll blow me too???"
Some Chick: "No way, dummy, you're just comedy relief, but you can bring the fortune weed cookies hahaha."
All together: "Great, let's go, but remember i hate all of you."

And their adventure begins!

Almost every horror movie has insanely large holes in the plot and unbelievable action in it. But the GOOD ones dont let you notice that shit because you are too scared or having too much fun with the ride, like the original Nightmare On Elm St, or ALIENS. But this new FRIDAY has a HUGE hole that was overlooked so quickly i'm wondering if anyone even questioned it during production. They make another drastic decision to make Jason NOT supernatural. He isn't a zombie, he doesnt get revived by lightening, he's not a monster, he's simply an aging survivalist that is revenging his mother's death. OK, fine, i can accept that decision, make it more REAL and GRITTY. The filmmakers have gone to lengths saying that this new Jason ISN'T supernatural. However, in the beginning of the movie, Jasons mother says that Jason has drowned and he is DEAD. Then, an 8 year old, naked, retarded Jason is seen ALIVE witnessing his mothers death. So I have 2 questions that were bypassed like Mickey Rourke's heart in The Wrestler.
1.) If Jason WAS dead, how the fuck was he standing there watching his mom die, and then AGE and GROW over the years. And if he was really ALIVE, what kind of fucking mother would just ASSUME that her retarded and deformed son is dead just because she saw him swimming??!!
2.) After witnessing his mothers death when he was 8, standing in the rain, in all of his naked and retarded glory, how the fuck did he SURVIVE for 30 more years after that. He lived by a lake and he COULDNT EVEN SWIM! And he was mentally and physically handicapped??! Excuse the pun, but I find it retardedly hard to believe that a clueless mentally challenged deformed kid wouldn't try to at least ask SOMEONE for help over the years, if he even survived that long.

Also, assuming that Jason DID survive, and grow up, how did he become trained as a Navy Seal, master the art of walking like a ninja unless its to be scary then he walks like a dinosaur, and study to become a contractor and architect who specializes in granite digging? They made Jason into a mix between Bear Grylls from Man vs Wild and a fucking FRAGGLE, who spent 20 years forging an intricate tunnel mansion underground and collecting way too many old bicycles to decorate his lair with.

Ahhhhh, oh well, it had some good kills, and i'll probably go see it again because I'm just as retarded as Jason.
Now to get my hopes up about the Nightmare On Elm Street remake and the Pirhana remake.

Well I watched Friday the 13th last night (it SUCKED by the way) and the only good thing about the whole movie was the preview for 9. Which apparently is based on this short animation.

It's totally Little Big Planet mixed with Awesome. It seems a bit odd that Tim Burten is directing the actual movie when clearly the guy who did this short can do just fine by himself. But I guess he's not a "name" so actual talent doesn't matter when faced with a for sure sale.

- Me, conversing with anyone made of glass, over this past weekend.

So, I have returned to the land of home for a couple of days after a long week of traveling which included seeing Craola's new show, reconnecting with old friends, making new "rebellious" ones, and discovering my never-known mutant ability.
And instead of bore you with words, like a teacher, I will bore you with an overabundance of photos from the journey.....
Wait, i forgot to bring my camera. Damnit. OK, well, here are a few photos that I managed to steal from other peoples' cameras and blogs:

First stop, Greg "Craola" Simkins' solo show at 5024SF in San Francisco. Greg (middle) has been a good friend and huge influence on me (and a ton of other young artists) for years and it was amazing to see his new work in person. And that's another amazing artist, Robert Bowen, silently growling next to us.

Since it was my birthday, we then went out to eat at The House Of Prime Rib in SF, which, to my dismay, was not a castle made of meat. But nonetheless, it was delicious. And they let you steal their nice steak knives as long as they arent looking. They let us keep 4 of them when they looked away!

Savage Paul's prime rib was twice the size of ours. And he cleaned his plate like a good cannibal.

Captain Pierce ate his salad so hard he shit while doing so.

And i guess, after all, you are what you eat, as I ordered the French Asshole Steak. Happy Birthday to me.

Next I went down to Santa Monica for the opening to "The Art of Rebellion", a group show that I did for Harley Davidson where me and a handful of dope artists painted on Harley gas tanks for charity. you can read more about my involvement HERE in my previous post. A bajillion people came out to see it (most likely because the lineup of artists was pretty insane) and this is what it looked like outside most of the night.

2 of my producers (Shanna and Marti) from the CHADAM project that i am working on with Warner Bros came to show their support. Marti's eyes arent usually sleepy like that, but it was the only photo I had as evidence.

Then once again, it was dinner time....PS, one of the guys in this photo ate Chicken Hearts with his hands at this dinner....

Now, as the weekend came to a close, I needed to reflect on a couple of potentially life-changing instances that occurred throughout the week. I loved the first season of HEROES. it was what i needed after being pissed off at LOST for 2 seasons in a row. However, after trying to watch the second season of Heroes, i stopped completely and hated it. Maybe i didnt give it a chance, and I have no idea if it has gotten any better. But who cares, that second season blew dicks. I am starting to realize, however, that perhaps one of the reasons why i didnt enjoy it was because I MYSELF HAVE A MISUNDERSTOOD SUPERPOWER and this show just hit a little too close to home and made me feel subconsciously crappy. What is this superpower, you ask? Well, i wish it was the ability to punch Chris Brown from 400 miles away, or perhaps the ability to fart the legend of zelda theme, but instead, I just discovered that I have an amazing and explosive ability to shatter the glass of anything that I am close to just by staring at something else and not paying attention. Allow me to explain my discovery.
A week ago, a subtle but annoying crack in the windshield of my car appeared while i was looking down at my ipod. No big deal, right?
Sure, OK.
2 days later, at Craola's art show, the second incident occurs. I've seen tractors run over my friends' iphones and they are fine. I've seen dogs swallow them, shit them out, try to eat them and they are fine. A friend of mine dropped his phone off of a 2 story parking garage and it didnt even have a scratch on anything except the plastic cover. However, I simply took my phone out of my pocket, loosened my grip accidentally, and it happened to fall 2 feet to the ground, face down. No worries, I thought. I bent down to pick it up, turned it over and NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. This is what it looked like:

I know what you're thinking. Dude, you fucking dropped it. Stop crying and move on. Well, thats what i thought too. But in comparison to the windshield crack, the instances are getting stronger, more destructive! And then....the third incident.

While staying at the beautiful HUNTLEY HOTEL in Santa Monica (pictured above), my fate was sealed and my powers unleashed. Merisa stepped into the shower, got out, dried off, and went to bed. I then stepped into the shower, got out, dried off, and 20 seconds after exiting the shower, i heard and felt an invisible shotgun blast in my chest and the entire SHOWER DOOR EXPLODED OUTWARD! And all I did was stare at it. Im not joking. There was no weird shit going on, the door wasnt sealed or too hot or whatever Mr. Wizard might say. It simply exploded because I wasnt paying attention to it!!!!
This is what it looked like:

The picture doesnt do justice to the simple fact that had I exploded the door with my mind 20 seconds prior, i would have been naked and pummelled with glass! So in a way, i saved my own life by delaying my accidental mind power. Good job me!

And thats how my trip was. I have since removed everything glass from my life, and i drink by pouring liquid into my hand like a caveman. I need to learn to control my powers.....

Katsucon 15 at Crystal City, Virginia, is this weekend and guess who is going to be there......no, not him. No, not that person either. I was talking about me! Hehehe, I will be attending Katsucon, but as a guest like you. Playing video games, attending the Katsucon Ball, and possibly talking to other artists in Artist Alley.

I bet your wondering how you can find me. I will be wearing a white flu mask with a smiley face drawn on it. Possibly around the artist alley or mostly the video game room. Getting my game on. So if you are attending come find me and say hello, I would love to hang out. Besides my apartment is down the street from the Con, lucky me eh? Also I believe Matt Herms will also be there so go say hi to him as well.

I might also be cosplaying my favorite character as well for tradition, so if you are looking for me and I am in costume.....look for the flu mask, plunger, and brown jumpsuit with the label 'Narutard Hunter'. I will probably put up a photo of me to make it easier on you all :P

NYCC

Well I'm flying out to NYCC in a few hours so if you're around stop by the booth and say Hi to Alex and I. We'll be in booth number 1709 which is directly accross from the Funimation booth. Should be fun. I'll have two new prints from a comic that's coming to snafu soon. You'll have to come to find out what it is. Oh and I'll have a brand new t-shirt that I designed. By FAR the best design I've ever done. And lastly Kroze from Yugioh Abridged will have some shirts at the booth as well. So if you love you some Yugioh come by the booth :)

And lastly I've got the convention list updated for 2009 for the time being. This month I'll literally be home for 8 days total. I don't know when the business side of Snafu became a mega time drain of ultimate proportions. But I promise I'll actually be a comic maker again soon. I'm getting really really sick of not being a cartoonist. I've got to be creative soon or someone will die.

So, after hitting you with that new WATCHMEN PAINTING that i did for NYCC, I started feeling weird because I hadn't updated much lately, and I didn't want you to think that I haven't been working hard.
After all, I woke up coughing blood yesterday and I have been feeling dizzy a lot lately and if I was going through all of this just for one painting, you'd think I was slacking off.
So, on with the updatingness.

This saturday, Feb 7th, at the Robert Berman Gallery in Santa Monica I will be participating in a small, one-night-only group art show for Harley Davidson called "THE ART OF REBELLION", where myself and 10 other insanely talented and amazing artists are painting Harley-Davidson gas tanks along with some additional art for a charity called ART MATTERS.
It is pretty humbling being able to showcase my work alongside these artists, as some of them I have looked up to for years.

There wasn't much in the journal other than this page and a couple of other entries that talked about hating his dad. But here is what this page says:

"October 24, 1987
I never really wanted to write anything in here except stories about dragons and Cyclopses and stuff before. But today is different�
After I was born my mom produced an overabundance of white blood cells in her body because of a disease. So whenever she would try to eat, the blood cells would think that the food was an enemy, and they would attack the food by making her vomit it up. By the time I was 4, Mom weighed 79 pounds and all she could eat was rice, bananas, and plums. Dad never believed she was sick. He used to say it was �cause of guilt for her cheating on him before I was born. He said she felt bad �cause she knew in her heart that he wasn�t my real Dad. But Mom never cheated, and Dad was really my Dad. Either way, Dad�s always hated me. So when Mom starved to death when I was 9, Dad started being extra mean to me.
He made me mow the lawn every day, which wasn�t that bad, except he made me bite down on a piece of wood to keep my muscles tight while I did it so that I would �get my man-strength�. But all it did was cut my mouth with splinters. He hit me a lot. Mostly when I would talk about Mom, or when I would beg to sleep inside �cause it was too cold in the shed. And he would make me shoot things too. �G�head, you point that rifle at them bunnies and you pull that trigger to get some fuckin� hair on that little girl chest �a yours!� So I did it. Bunnies, squirrels, even the occasional cat that hopped our fence just because it was OUR property, he said. And it wasn�t even for food. Dad was a vegetarian.
My childhood was disgusting.
But after 13 years, I finally rebelled.
Today was the day that I killed my father.

October 25, 1987
I slept through the night. And for the first time in my life, I remembered my dreams.
I dreamt that my life is finally�going to be beautiful."

And here are are some words from Alex regarding his long-standing love for the Watchmen comics:
"In addition to a lot of movies, my Dad introduced me to Graphic Novels shortly after i got out of the hospital when I was 15. About the same time as I discovered THE MAXX, my dad got me Frank Miller's "The Dark Knight", which then led me to The Killing Joke, A Death In the Family, Hard Boiled, Frank Millers Daredevil, and Alan Moore's WATCHMEN. With the exception of The MAXX, Watchmen felt the most real, despite the whole particle teleportation to Mars thing, and the airships. Maybe it was because most of the Minutemen didnt even have powers, they just WANTED to be superheroes, and the world hated them. Or maybe it was because Silk Spectre fell out of love with Manhattan because he was a workaholic, or because Rorshach saw dead dogs when he looked at an ink blot, but never really told anyone what he felt, or maybe it was the fear and the desperation of the guy who was scared of the Black Freighter, and where else can someone like the Comedian be a rapist AND a hero?
Regardless, I was unknowingly obsessed with it back then, as most of the superheroes i drew at that time were just bunk combinations of those characters.  Looking back now, a lot of things from Watchmen stuck with me, i always said my first tattoo was going to be a Rorshach test. I have always looked at owls as lonely but heroic animals. I BELIEVED that when you teleported, you vomitted, so much so that I called bullshit on Seth Brundle in The Fly. I never saw anything wrong with Dr Manhattans work ethic and his complete disregard for the rest of the world and his relationships. I subconsciously adapted his work ethic, which is probably a bad thing. I kept sugar cubes in my pocket when i worked at the credit card processing company in sacramento. I liked the 12 monkey's movie marketing because it reminded me of "who watches the watchmen?" and I even repeatedly dreamt of going to Mars for a day.�

Here is my little-known recount of the mythical batman:
"Not many people know this, but BATMAN (yah, your favorite masked detective) was based off of an ancient mythical cult icon whose story was basically about a bat hunter who, in a fit of symbiotic revenge rage, captured the bat that killed his wife and, since he couldnt live without his wife, he wanted to show the bat what it was like to depend on someone else for life and love. So the hunter shoved the Bat onto his head like a mask and forced the bat to remain a part of him. Shortly after, the tables turned and the hunter's foolish attempt at revenge backfired when he suffocated and died. The bat then took over the hunter's body and used his new found appendages and abilities to lead warriors to kill weak people because it was fun. True story."

I got a chance to play the Project Origin demo, and I got to admit, it was really fun and freakier then the first one. It is a lot more hectic setting and the graphics are pretty, you can see the shine of light on their blood. So before it comes out, I suggest giving the demo a whirl, it is available on Steam, and I think on their site.

Me (master) x Joe Hahn (slave) @ Agenda Trade Show

The Agenda Trade Show started yesterday in the Whale's Vagina (San Diego, for those who don't speak Burgandy) where Zerofriends showcased our clothing to potential retailers, artists, and peeps with more pairs of shoes and sunglasses than i will ever have.

While Sean, Darren and Adam of Zerofriends are holding it down there, I had to fly back last night to catch up on a couple of immediate cool projects, which i will announce this week. But for the one day I was down there, I got a chance to live paint all day at the booth and talk to people about what I painted, which basically, was just "a giant blue hand squeezing some kind of sad animal who wants to go home."
I also got a chance to hang with my friend, Joe Hahn of SURU and Linkin Park, who offered to help me paint while i supervised him. Check out a small video clip of it below as well as some pics.

Me painting, and for some reason looking like I'm too big for the room which is odd considering the ceilings were about 40 feet in the air.
