• Single click edit : you just need to click once on a table cell to make a suggestion or edit it (depending on your rights on the item).
• Live comparison: you are now able to build a new comparison while you explore the site, adding items and criteria you like (clicking on the “green plus balance”) and removing items and criteria you do not want anymore to compare (clicking on the “red minus balance”).When you add items or criteria to compare, it appears on the left bottom corner side a link to a direct access to your live comparison:Or you can also access to your live comparison clicking on the balance summary that is on the top right corner of the site:After clicking on the summary balance, the new comparison appears, you can click on “save as” button to save it as a new comparison reusing these data (so data updated at one place update all the comparisons that contain these data):
  

• Favorites: you can now save your favorite comparisons or items into your dashboard.

• Drag and drop: to reorganize lines and columns of the table, you can easily do it by using the new drag and drop functionality. The icon appears when you are on a line header or a column header :Then as an usual drag and drop function, you click on the icon, do not release the mouse button and drag the line where you want. A green line appears to help you to know where the new line will appear. Finally, you just need to release the mouse button in order to drop the line to the new place.It also works on columns. However some web browsers, don’t display it as nicely as Firefox.

• Rotate option in import step: when you import data from existing files such as excel, csv, openoffice… you can now change the automatic order detection between items and criteria. If the import step did not recognize the table direction, you can easily rotate it.
  
• Simplify the list of types: we have merged date and date/time types to only one criteria type, that accepts both format and also year only.  We also merged text and label types, to make it more simple.

We have discovered a lot of fonts solutions and decided to make a quick comparison. As usual, we did a public comparison that can be edited and commented by everyone, so do not hesitate to improve or complete it.

Here is our features matrix of these different web fonts solutions (@font-face vs sIFR vs typeface.js vs Cufon vs FLIR…) :

1. Vote for best comparisons
   We have added a “vote” button for each comparison. We maintain a counter to do a “Top Comparisons List“. It is now visible on Explore page.

   

2. Simplify the choice for criteria type between 2 possibilities: universal or multilingual data and allow details almost everywhere
   Indeed, now either you choose an universal data (date, numeric, yes/no, brand name, name…) or you choose the “multilingual” data to be able to translate the value for each available language. If the criteria type is universal, the value of the cell and its details will be universal, otherwise in the other case, the value and details will be multilingual.
   
   In the above example, you can see multilingual data (when we display a flag, it is to show the language of the data, you just need to edit it to have the data translated in the current selected interface language. Here all the cells have values (yes, url, video) with an associated detail text (“2007″, “officiel”, “quick tutorial”).
3. List all elements with the ability to delete
   In MySocialCompare tab, we can now see all the elements we have created and we are able to delete them. We have also a new “Trash” tab to restore them.

   

4. A quick tour, tutorial of SocialCompare
   For the moment it is a quick version to take a tour of  SocialCompare to see more details about the features of our service. It will be soon enhanced.

Finally, we did not choose this solution, and we have chosen to work with one webdesigner directly.

Anyway, here is the comparison matrix we did about logo creation contest websites, as usual, it is a public comparison that everybody can edit or update if necessary:

We are still working to improve this part, it is not yet finished, especially to make the creation of comparison easier.

Concerning the main changes, here is a list of what we did:

1. redesigned the logo
2. centered and fixed the page’s size
3. changed the default table color from blue to a sober and generic color: gray.
4. made table auto width in order to avoid stretched table, it is more condensed and nicer table.
5. showed sharing icons directly below the comparison title, it is more visible and accessible.
6. changed home page design, with a example of table’s image comparing apples and oranges:
7. changed directory page design.
8. the “last comparisons” list does not show anymore comparisons that are not translated to your current selected language.
9. added “actions button” below the table (and also above when the table is big), such as a “publish” button to make easier the change of comparison’s visibility from “unlisted” to “public” status:
10. added “comments” part directly below to the comparison’s page instead of another external page.
11. fixed some bugs (for example for IE version due to some issues with cross-compatibility between browsers…).
12. added breadcrumb, just below the tabs, to display the last visited pages.
13. added an embed preview window for webmasters and bloggers that want to include a comparison table to their site.
