26 Ways To Share Images and Pictures on Twitter [List]

How many times have you seen a tweet asking, “How do I send pictures on Twitter” on something similar? As easy as it may be to search on Google & find a solution, as far as I can see a lot of Twitter users don’t seem to be doing that. So, I decided to compile a list with all the ways to send and share images, pictures & even videos on Twitter. Hopefully, it will come in handy for all those wondering how to do this. Yes, I know that I’ve probably left out a lot of other methods, so feel free to share your own preferred methods in the comments.

TweeTube

With TweeTube you can share webcam videos, pictures, Youtube videos & even website URLs. You will need to login using your Twitter username and password. Once you do, you can then setup your pin number which will be needed in order to send pictures on TweeTube. You can share pictures from your mobile phone, email, or direct upload to the website; you can send up to 5 pictures per email or direct upload. The subject of your email will be the text of your tweet link. *Example

TweetCube

Lets you share files such as images, videos & music on Twitter in a matter of a few clicks. Only downside, nice idea but it seems to be broken. The “choose file” button doesn’t work, preventing you from uploading any files. #fail

Twitgoo

A quick & easy way to share pictures on Twitter. Simply enter your Twitter username & password, then enter a short message & upload your picture. You can also view the public timeline which shows pictures shared from other Twitgoo users. Twitgoo is definitely one of the easiest ways to share pictures on Twitter.

Twitpic

The most popular & well-known site for sharing pictures on Twitter. There are numerous apps that support Twitpic plus you can also send pics directly from your phone or via direct upload to the site.

TwitWall

An instant blogging companion for Twitter that lets you embed videos, widgets, pictures, music and more. Adding an entry to TwitWall is much like a blog entry to WordPress or Blogger. You can enter HTML and add images by URL or upload. *Example

2tweet

Lets you sent multiple photos & videos from your email to Twitter. Simply send an email with your photos and/or videos to twitter@2pad.com. The first 113 characters of your subject will be your tweet message. A link will also be added to the end of your tweet directing to the photos and/or videos. All items uploaded to 2tweet will be saved for you in your own “Twitter” album.

Pikchur

A personal favorite of mine, Pikchur lets you send pictures not only to Twitter but also to Jaiku, Facebook, Tumblr, FriendFeed, Identi.ca, Plurk, Brightkite, Rejaw, Koornk & Flickr. There are several ways to send pictures through Pikchur such as MMS, email, bookmarklet or direct upload to the website. Pikchur also supports geo-tagging which you can choose to make public or private. *Example

Pikter

Has kind of the same concept as Pikchur (mentioned above) but doesn’t have as many features or users. I did an extensive review back in October 2008 of Pikter when it was only supporting Twitter & Jaiku. It doesn’t look like too much has been done since then either. Pikter is still in beta but now also supports Tumblr, Picasa, Facebook, Gospelr & Flickr.

Twadl

Not only can you send pictures to Twitter via Twadl but you can also count how many clicks your links get. Twadl has a nice tweet preview feature and an integrated URL shortener.

MobyPicture

Another site kind of like Pikchur (mentioned above) MobyPicture lets you share pictures & videos via MMS, email, iPhone app, direct upload or a supported application. Supported sites include: Twitter, Jaiku, Tumblr, Brightkite, Facebook. Flickr, Youtube, Blogger, Vimeo, WordPress & Livejournal. You can create an account with MobyPicture or just login with your Twitter username and password. *Example

Twixxer

Another great site for viewing & sharing videos & photos on Twitter. To enjoy the full capabilities of Twixxer, you will need to install the Twixxer Greasemonkey script. Doing so is supposed to add a photo & video uploading feature to your Twitter homepage. Too bad Twixxer seems to be broken. It seems as though the Greasemonkey script does not work anymore & therefore no option appears to let you upload phoots. #fail

Twitxr

Lets you send photos to Twitter, Facebook, Flickr & Picasa using mobile phone. You can send pictures via MMS, email, or mobile app (only for iPhone, Windows Mobile, Nokia or Motorola phones). The public timeline on Twitxr auto updates every 10 seconds, which is nice. You can also get a widget displaying your Twitxr updates to add to blog or any other site that supports javascript. *Example

SnapTweet

Allows you to send your Flickr photos to Twitter. You will need to enter your Twitter username & password and then enter your Flickr URL. In order to let SnapTweet know that you want to post a picture you will need to send them a direct message along with the title of the Flickr photo. There is also an auto-post feature available.

VisualTwitter

Lets you send pictures to Twitter via MMS to me@visualtwitter.com. You will need to login with your Twitter username and password & then activate your mobile phone number. This is another site that was broken for me; I was unable to activate my mobile phone number. Maybe you’ll have better luck. #fail

Pix.im

Along with being able to upload and share pictures on Twitter with Pixim, you can also add privacy, tag your friends, see viewer stats (who and how many) and follow your friends. Pixim has been nice enough to enable Twitter Oath so, no need to enter your username or password. *Example

Flickr2Twitter

Another way to send your Flickr photos to Twitter. This is a Firefox addon that adds a little button to all images on Twitter. Clicking the button will allow you to send the image link & tweet to Twitter.

yFrog

Share images on Twitter by direct upload or image URL. You can add a message of 100 characters or less. You’ll also need to enter your Twitter username and password. You can choose to have yFrog remember you so that you don’t have to re-enter your Twitter credentials each time. This is one of the few sites that lets you share an image via URL instead of uploading or sending from your own device. *Example

TwitterGram

Yet another way to send your Flickr pictures to Twitter except TwitterGram is automated. Your Flickr account will be checked about every 10 minutes for new pictures. All most recent pictures will then be posted to Twitter within that hour. Your Flickr username and Twitter credentials are needed. You can also add special tags & a prefix if you’d like.

BeenUp2

A picture & video sharing community that lets you post directly from your mobile phone; you can also directly upload photos via the website. One you create a BeenUp2 account you will be given your own personal email to send pictures & videos with. You can also, of course, then connect with your Twitter account so that all your photos will automatically be posted there. In addition to sharing photos you can also share what you’re listening to, what you’re reading & even your vacations. *Example

Twics

This site is not yet live but I figured I’d include it anyway for future reference. With Twics you will be able to send pictures and tweets directly to Twitter. You’ll also be able to vote on your favorite pictures. Plus, you will be able to send pictures using your mobile phone.

Picktor

Another site that has not yet launched yet has been creating a lot of buzz already on Twitter. All we know about this one is that you will be able to manage, tag & share photos on Twitter, Facebook, Flickr, Picasa and more. “Your photos where you want.”

Skitch

This is a very interesting application indeed. With Skitch, your images can be online in one click. Unfortunately, right now it’s for Mac users only so, I was not able to test it out. You can watch the video below to get a better idea of what Skitch does. Basically, it allows you to take & send screenshots & images within seconds. You can also annotate your images, add text, draw on them, resize & more.

Posterous

So, I was reading the Posterous blog a few days ago & they stated that they’re a direct replacement for TwitPic (mentioned above). Posterous is great because it allows you to send images, videos & music to many sites by email. If you have a Posterous account, then you can choose to autopost to numerous sites including Twitter, Facebook, Flickr, Tumbler, WordPress & more. If you do not have a Posterous account, you can simply send an email to twitter@posterous.com to post images, videos & music to Twitter. *Example

Twibeo

Another easy way to share your photos & videos on Twitter. You will need to enter your Twitter username and password to sign in. Once you do, it will basically look like the Twitter homepage just with a few added features. When entering your tweet you’ll then have the option to upload a video or photo to go with it. You can also add a location. Plus, you get 250 characters to use instead of 140.

Tweetr

This is actually a Adobe AIR desktop application for both Mac & PC that will let you upload pictures to Twitter as well as send & receive tweets. All pictures that are uploaded via Tweetr can then be seen at Tw3t.com.

Kwout

Another took for taking screenshots except it’s 100% web-based. You can take screenshots using a bookmarklet or Firefox addon. Kwout then allows you to post your screenshots to your website or blog (via html) as well as to numerous social sites Like Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, Tumblr & more. You can even email your screenshots & customize the appearance.

Allows you to track & see what people are saying about your site by using social media. “Information is gathered from Google blog search, Twitter, Friend Feed, Youtube, Myspace, Flickr, Yahoo Answers, Digg, Delicious, Furl and Reddit.” There is an addon available that lets you add SiteMention to your Firefox or Internet Explorer search box. Though it’s a nice idea, SiteMention doesn’t seem too accurate at the moment.

SWG.fm [Twitter Tool]

Plain and simple, it SWG.fm lets you share mp3s on Twitter. Just enter your Twitter username, insert the name of the artist, insert the name of the song & then click send. SWG.fm will find the song & give you the option to tweet it. Your tweet will say something like, “Keri Hilson – How Does It Feel ♫ http://swg.fm/586 #swgfm”. When the link is clicked it will look something like what you see below.

Markkit [Bookmarklet]

A highlighter for the Web. Simply add the bookmarklet to your bookmarks toolbar or menu & use it whenever you want to highlight something on a webpage. Only words with Firefox, Opera, Google Chome & Safari. The downside is that the highlight is not saved to the actual webpage, it saved on it’s own page on Markkit.
