When I think of my own grandparents, it reminds me of a happy time, of where I came from and where I hope to be. I remember watching yankees games, going to the finca and collecting coffee beans and bananas and having them sneak me chocolate when mom was not looking. I remember a time when we went to grandma’s every sunday for dinner and visiting them in Puerto Rico every summer. To have your grandparents at your wedding is special. They see their baby’s baby getting married. It reminds all of us of the journey our family has taken and how it continues to grow. New memories will form and one day you will look back at your own children’s children getting married. At least we hope.

Were your grandparents at your wedding? What did it feel like to share this moment with them? What is your favorite photograph of them from your wedding?

We wanted to just explore the city and find little out of the way streets and spots. The archway is at the end of a street that looks like a cobblestone street out of Paris or Italy. Unfortunately, it was under construction.

Well we did find Caffe Reggio which gave us a little European feel at least Little Italy feel.

Can’t wait for their wedding in June! Alex is a florist, co-owner of Sterling Fell Florist. He’s doing all the flowers for his own wedding. I think he’s crazypants but at least I know they’ll be stunning.

1. Figure out the look and feel you want. Do you want to visit your favorite date spots? Do you want to reflect the urban city of New York? Do you have a favorite New York City movie setting? Pull some fave images, make a Pinterest board and discuss it with your photographer beforehand.

2. Plan on two different outfits. Maybe one casual and one more fancy, hip or chic.

3. Leave all your stuff at home. There is nothing worse than walking around with a big purse, keys, wallets and having to worry about someone running off with it. Bring a little clutch with your phone, credit card, id and key. This way your photographer can throw it in their bag and you can be much more spontaneous. Plus his pockets will not be bulky either.

4. Bring flip flops or flats. I like to walk around, finding unique little spots and there is nothing worse for pictures than sore, achy feet.

5. Plan several hours so you do not have to rush, have time to get coffee or drinks and really connect with each other. The engagement session is where you will have a chance to learn about your photographer. Your photographer will learn about you. This is where you will know if you really are a great match.

Julianna and her brother are close. He was the first to see her walking out of the apartment all dressed up and sang a song for her during the ceremony. This was right after he gave a heartfelt speech about how much she meant. How growing up having her as a big sis was the best ever. It is moments like these that will be cherished for generations to come.
