Tips for a great shot

· We will be shooting from 3/4 and shoulders up.

· Please choose an outfit that you are comfortable in, that you feel shows you off best.

· Stick to solid colors. Avoid white.

· Avoid ruffles, logos, embellishments etc., unless that is part of your uniform.

· Think about the neckline. Bring v-neck, scoop necks, round collars etc

· You do not want anything to baggy.

· Unless you have really skinny arms or athletic, avoid sleeveless shirts.

· Think about the kind of impression you want to give. If you are corporate then a suit and tie will work, if you are portraying a more relaxed look then maybe just a button down or t-shirt will work better.

· Bring a few options for tops, ties etc, just in case. If you are unsure what to wear, we will look through what you bring and suggest your best option. Bring at least 3 options.

Sneak Peek – New York Couple in Philadelphia

Here is a sneak peek of Liz and Derek’s gorgeous wedding in Philadelphia. I met Liz photographing some corporate events for her company. When I met Derek we realized we knew a lot of the same people because he belonged to a business networking group that they belonged to. Then right after their wedding I ended up joining the networking group that he belonged to not knowing that had been his group. Now we have a lot of the same friends and colleagues. Small world! Liz is also super duper because she just came and helped me work my table at the NY Magazine wedding showcase the other night. 3 hours of talking to prospective couples sharing with them her experience. Thank you so much guys!

Same sex wedding at City Hall New York

Geoff and Jim met at a bar 4 years from the date of their wedding. Jim said that Geoff walked right up to him and said they belonged together. Within a few minutes of chatting, Jim agreed. Geoff has always been bold. He’s a dancer, choreographer and has an absolutely fantastic blog about his life growing up. Want to know more about New York in the 80′s check out Geoff’s writing. Jim is a little quieter but they compliment each other well.

We started out at the city clerk’s office with family and close friends. The ceremony was heartwarming and the officiant was enthusiastic. I was so proud of New York state for acknowledging their deep love, affection and commitment to each other. After the ceremony, we headed over to Jim and Geoff’s gorgeous new home on the upper west side. They had just moved in so there was plenty of room for their 40 guests. I am so glad they had me come and share in this moment with them. Once the weather is warmer we are going to go out on the town and do a fun Get to Know You session, check back later.

Get to Know You session in Philadelphia

Here is a fun get to know you session that I photographed down in Philadelphia in Olde City. I love all the cobblestone streets and fun facades. Leigh and Joe were introduced by mutual friends. According to them, it was love at first sight. Joe is a cop and Leigh is a family therapist. Leigh is full of energy and very sassy. She also looks like a strong wind could blow her over. I wonder what it is like to be naturally model thin? =) I met Leigh first and we hit it off right away. I think we hung out for at least two hours! So, I was really happy to see how well Joe and Leigh get along. Just watching them you can tell Joe loves Leigh more than anything and they have a great time together. I can’t wait for the wedding in April.

Happy Valentine’s Day and a surprise wedding in Central Park

Happy Valentine’s Day to everyone! I wanted to share this really beautiful wedding I photographed right before the holidays in Central Park. It was beautiful because it was an intimate affair and story between Anthony and Sarah, two people who love each other very much. Thank you to Christopher Duggan for calling me to capture this moment for Anthony and Sarah.

This was Sarah’s first time in New York and Anthony surprised her with a proposal and wedding. The day before, Anthony proposed to Sarah at Wollman Rink. Her favorite movie is Serendipity and he modeled the proposal and wedding after it. I am glad she said yes! The next day he had a hair and make-up appointment scheduled for Sarah, plus a quick stop to Tiffany’s to pick up rings and a stop to pick up the wedding dress. She had mentioned months before that if she ever got married this was the kind of dress she would want. Being the fabulous gentleman that he is, he remembered and when planning the wedding he called the wedding dress boutique and sent them a photo. Wowzers!

Tammy Golson, the day of planner, Reverend Annie, an amazingly warm and generous officiant, and I met Anthony and Sarah at the entrance to Central Park. Coincidentally, one of the pedi cab drivers there was the same one who had driven them around Central Park the night before, just after the proposal. Serendipity at it’s best! We met the pedi cab at Belmont Terrace and wandered over to the Bow Bridge for the ceremony. Rev. Annie did a beautiful ceremony complete with the Apache Blessing and the Hands Blessing. Freezing but still smiling, the two of them shared their vows and then we did some portraits. I loved how open they were; sharing stories of how they met, what she thought when he proposed and how confidant he must have been to plan a wedding for the next day. Sarah confirmed that it was perfect and she would not have done it any other way. A stop at Wollman Rink and the Plaza Hotel completed the evening.
