I would apologise for being absent, but I doubt anyone would really care, and apparently you’re not supposed to do that… so I won’t bother.

I haven’t abandoned WoW, I’d just rather spend the time *playing* rather than writing about playing, if you know what I mean.

Over the last, hmm… three (?) weeks I’ve picked up a bit of the achievements bug. Not much else to do when you don’t have a huge amount of time to spend in the game – boy am I glad they brought these in!

First off I did enough dailies to finally get my 100 cooking awards achievement:

along with having finally done the rest of the achievements for my Chef title:

Why yes, yes that is the Zhevra mount you get from the refer-a-friend “arrangement”. I bit the bullet and got a second account to level up some characters. I have a plan! So far my twins have got to 19:

So – the plan. I have a shaman that is sat idling at level 21 and has been for some time and a pally that is sitting at level 27. My plan is to get my twins to 21, then drop out the druid on my main account (which it shares with the shammy and pally), couple druid2 with the shammy till they hit 26, then drop the shammy for the pally to 60. Then I can give the shammy the 30 ‘free’ levels to have it leveled up too. Here’s the details on what the R-A-F campaign does.

That just scratches the surface with what I’ve been doing, but I figured I won’t bore you with the rest… at least not for now!

It’s over four years since I started playing WoW, and though I love the way things have improved in the game (outfitter-thingy and dual-specs… HELLOO you should have been there from the start!), there are some things that I like to reminisce about…

• It took me about 3 hours to get to level 6 on my first ever character, my druid. I was so proud of myself!
• I leveled as balance before moonkin was even introduced, when there was practically no itemisation for it. Not that I’d have a clue what ‘itemisation’ meant back then.
• I stood dancing on IF bridge the day moonkin was introduced, and I adored all the questions about it.
• I had never tried feral.
• I did Scholomance and Stratholme as 10-mans with my guildies.
• I got upset when they cut them down to being 5-man only.
• I was the innervate bot in our MC runs, before there such a thing as the Tree of Life (and when innervate was rubbish).
• I was at every single Onyxia raid, and the one time I wasn’t my Stormrage Cover dropped.
• I used to raid 3-4 nights a week.
• I only twice figured out where to stand in the Raggy fight so I wouldn’t die from being thrown into the air.

These are just a few I thought of earlier when I was in BA chat.There are many more where that comes from!

So… 3.1. Thoughts?

I’m not that sure as I’ve not been online much since it hit on Wednesday (EU realm-er remember). Well, I did pick up a few achievements along the way…

I was bored the day before our patch hearing about all you US players with your fancy new patch and all the grumbling about it crashing… *cackles*.. anyhoo, I decided to do a few cooking achievements. I ended up only doing the one, but it all adds up, right?

Of course the first thing I did when I logged on post-patch was purchase my dual specialization on Softthistle. She’s now boomkin/bear which I’m much happier with. I can tank things now too! I just need to re-download Outfitter and I’ll be sorted.

Other than that I’ve pretty much spent my (limited) time online trying to fix my UI, since there hasn’t yet been an updated version of SpartanUI out. I’m sure I’ll hop straight back onto that UI once it’s released a 3.1 version, but until then I’ve bunched together a block of bars with bartender and it’ll do for now. Maybe. I don’t know…

I’m pondering whether to go to bed extra-early tonight to get up at 5.30am for the live recording of the latest Twisted Nether Blogcast with one of my favourite mooncows Llanion. It’s tempting… verrrry tempting…

For now it’s time I get on with the whole ‘real life’ thing. It sure has been curbing my playtime recently, but hopefully things will calm down a little within the next couple of weeks.

… I finally found my spirit beast!!

I had done a few half-hearted attempts on getting him, but none had been successful. I’d all but given up on him until hearing of Jess’ success spurred me on to have another go at it.

I spent about 2-3 days online during the day – something I almost never do. AFK most of the time, circling the basin like it was running out of fashion when I wasn’t. Every so often I’d see another hunter log in at one of his spawn points and log out again. I kept feeling drawn to the spawn point next to the Rocs, not ever really expecting to find him, but still searching.

I came to transferring my hunter back over to Bloodhoof. Surely once I was back among my favourite people I’d find my most wanted? Again I spent about 2 days circling. Logging on and off to do a few circuits, logging off, on, off, on.

I’m surprised my lovely guildies hadn’t got completely sick of me whining about that “bloody stupid spirit beast”. I swooped by the northern-most spawn point what must’ve easily been the 20th time that afternoon.

“OHMIGOD HE’S THERE HE’S THERE J OMGOMGOMG!” I screamed at Noobie in the living room.

I was flapping around like an eejit trying to find my trap, setting it down too far away, and trying to find the tame button. I think I was just about hyperventilating by this point.

I decided I couldn’t wait for the timer on the trap to run out – what if someone else found him?? I started taming him, and just a few seconds later he was mine. My wanted. My Ethala.

I was on a high for a while – squeeing in BA chat and on twitter as well as in guild and around the house. I actually found him! Me! I never get lucky with these sort of things. It seems my luck really did change for the better when I switched servers.

P.S. Ethala is Darnassian for “wanted”, which he most definitely is.

I’m guessing you’ve probably already figured this out by now… but in case you haven’t, I’m back blogging here at A Little WoW for Me, and I’m not going to be gone anytime soon.

I may not post more than once or twice a week, but I will be here!

Why did you come back??

I suppose I should mention why I decided to re-launch this place rather than carry on just doing the odd post here and there on my main blog.

Well, a lot of it is to do with that screenshot right there. See that? Ahnara is Aurik’s lil priesty.

Let me explain…

I had moved back to my old server (Stormrage-EU) to play with Noobiewan at the end of February. I tried so hard to feel at home there, but I just didn’t feel comfortable in his new little guild. The people there are awesome, some I’ve known for 2-3 years even! It just didn’t feel at home…

However like many Lightwalkers will tell you, no where is the same. Nowhere else is home. I just wanted to be back playing with my friends. I wasn’t logging in, I felt guilty for not being able to raid whenever his guild wanted to put a group together. So, as soon as my month was up (transferred servers, remember?), Softi (and her money-maker) made their way back to Bloodhoof and to Lightwalkers.

Luckily, the hubby (that’s Noobiewan, in case you hadn’t quite got that yet…) finally caved and decided to come along too, making me a very happy Softi – if a slightly more made-fun-of-in-gchat-Softi. I’ll take that one any day.

So, long story short, I moved servers to play with my husband, was not-so-happy there and stopped blogging. Moved back to my old server and guild, took the hubby with me, and now I’m happy and blogging once more. The End.

Thanks to my fellow Scot, Faulsey, I have received an award! Ok, technically it was going to my ‘non-wow’ blog, but I’m sure Faulsey won’t mind that I’ve re-opened the doors to this lil place, will you? WILL YOU??

Ok… so, like quite a few others have done, I’m going to reverse numbers 2 and 3, so here are my 10 honest things:

1. I hate mornings. You’d think I’d have thought through having kids a lil more bearing that in mind, but apparently not.
2. I ramble a lot. I know I do. I also make smutty remarks when needed, isn’t that right Bear?
3. I like food WAY too much.
4. WoW is the first game I’ve ever really gotten into playing. Four years later and still going strong, something I certainly wouldn’t have thought possible when I made Softthistle at the char selection screen!
5. I do enjoy raiding, but not on a regular basis as I don’t have the time for it.
6. I have renamed quite a few of my chars: Softthistle was initially Marylin, Sharptthistle (the hunter) was Maryliin until a couple of days ago, and Zackarina was Zackman, then Zackii, before having a sex change.
7. I spend more time on twitter than I do blogging.
8. Sometimes I wish I could play WoW all day every day and not have anything else to do, just to see what it’s like.
9. Sometimes I think about quitting, because I really don’t have the time for it.
10. I love the Blog Azeroth chatroom and the awesome community that we’re all a part of here in WoW-blogdom.

My name is Softthistle. Before that it was Marylin, but let’s face it, Marylin isn’t exactly a druidic sounding name is it? Apparently I was named ‘thistle’ due to her heritage, and with the prefix of ’soft’ because she thought it was funny… I always thought humans were a little weird.

3. Are you in love, and with whom?
Yes, I am in love, with my husband Noobiewan. Apparently his him and my her are in love with each other too. Small world hmm?

Mount? Who needs a mount when you have WINGS? I suppose I could say Noobiewan, but that’ll get cut I’m sure.
