The eDS solution will enable the Trust to deliver accurate, legible discharge summaries complete with prescriptions to a patient’s GP within 24 hours of them leaving hospital.

London, UK (PRWEB) July 9, 2010

SRC today announced that they have been awarded the contract to deploy a Trust wide Electronic Discharge Summary (eDS) solution at The Hillingdon Hospital NHS Trust in West London. The solution will be implemented rapidly and will go live between July and August 2010.

The eDS solution will enable the Trust to deliver accurate, legible discharge summaries complete with prescriptions to a patient’s GP within 24 hours of them leaving hospital. In addition, it supports workflow management, easing any bottlenecks in the process, and will deliver required management information.

Since April 2010, all acute NHS trusts are obliged to deliver discharge summaries to GPs containing information about a patient’s diagnosis, treatment and prescribed medications within 24 hours of the patient leaving hospital.

Geoff Geaves, eDS project manager at The Hillingdon Hospital NHS Trust, said: “We discharge 800 patients a week and every one of them needs a discharge summary within 24 hours. We need a solution that would enable us to deliver that and give us the tools to ensure quality and efficiency.”

The web-based solution will be rolled out within two months and has been tailored to also make historic discharge summaries, from the Trust’s legacy system, available for reference within the new system.

The Hillingdon Hospital selected SRC following a mini-competition amongst providers supplying against the Office of Government Commerce Framework Agreement A217833/L3 that determined eDS would meet all the Trust’s criteria for success:

eDS can be integrated with the Trust’s patient administration system via HL7, in this case Silverlink iCS via Sunquest. Discharge data can also be exported to the Trusts data warehouse.

eDS has flexible templates that can be tailored to different departments’ needs

eDS includes a workflow process that allows managers to actively manage the production of discharge summaries

eDS enables pharmacists to manage and approve drug prescription using electronic signatures

eDS is future-proofed, with the option to add on modules from SRC’s Clinical Toolkit, including Drug Decision Support, Patient Handover Lists and Clinical Correspondence

Chris Hart, CEO at SRC, said: “We are delighted to be working with The Hillingdon Hospital. Trusts are increasing looking to our eDS and clinical information solutions, which complement our digital dictation and document creation solutions.”

Hart added: “SRC’s eDS is an affordable solution that speeds up processes and brings everything needed into one application to rapidly draft, approve and issue electronic discharge summaries. In other Trusts it is proven to make a major contribution both to patient safety and operational efficiency.”

SRC’s eDS solution was developed with leading software firm Bluewire Technologies. It is easy to use, making production and processing of discharge summaries both quick and efficient. It is compliant with the NHS Common User Interface, a key feature for ease of use and patient safety.

Mr Geaves added: “At all stages of the project SRC have been there with help and guidance as we integrated eDS with our PAS, developed the templates and carried out the training for staff to use the system. We are really looking forward to going live and expect to have all wards using eDS by the middle of August.”

Natural Training, Europe’s premier provider of sales training has been shortlisted as a regional finalist (London) in the National Training Awards for developing a unique sales training programme that built £42m worth of sales opportunity for EMC from Oct 2008 – Sept 2009 comprising 36 training days.

(PRWEB) July 9, 2010

The National Training Awards are the most prestigious awards in the UK, run by UK Skills on behalf of the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills. They identify and celebrate organisations and individuals that have achieved really outstanding business and personal success through investment in training. The Awards are unique because entries are received from all sectors, industries and areas across the UK and in return the entrants are provided with the exceptional opportunity to have their training judged against the best in the UK.

Founder of Natural Training Matt Drought believes that a win will recognise the shift that Natural Training has made in the UK sales training market: “The brief was simple enough – to get sales people within their own organisation and their partner organisations making much more proactive, outbound calling effort to beat the recession. However changing selling behaviours is usually tougher than that. Sales people in the period leading up to late 2008 had it pretty easy – lots of inbound calls. They had either forgotten how to make cold calls and calls to existing clients, or they never knew in the first place. So we had to reignite the passion, give them the sales skills, take away the fear and give them a taste of success – all in a day!”

Natural Training came up with a programme called Natural LIVE, which is light on theory, and big on real-time sales coaching during calling sessions. Specialist Natural Training sales coaches were chosen for their ability to motivate, up-skill and to make sure that every member of the team was accountable for getting results on the day.

Instead of being bored by traditional sales theory, sales people were challenged to stretch beyond their comfort zones and use the fresh sales training ideas being given to them on each day. This resulted in an energised sales team with a common goal, a new focus and most importantly a new benchmark for what was personally and professionally possible via their outbound calling efforts.

Charlotte Campbell, Head of Sales Enablement at EMC said that an award would be a great outcome given the success of the training programme:

“As someone who leads sales enablement, I have a passionate belief that training organisations are not just about being great facilitators of content, but are active practitioners of their subject and therefore bring high credibility due to subject matter expertise. NT exceeded my expectations in this area.”

The results from the training programme were exceptional. Effectively Natural Training and EMC worked out a way to make outbound calling effective & enjoyable while hitting targets. Satisfaction surveys at the end of each day of training demonstrated that 85% of participants rated the training as either “Very Good” or “Excellent”. And the training generated over £42m worth of pipeline opportunity for EMC.

Since the training EMC has gone on to close a large proportion of this business and the organisation is flourishing with like-on-like yearly sales exceeding all expectations. Natural Training is working with EMC’s graduates to instil a real “can-do” attitude for the future and in other EMC regions around Europe.

The National Training Awards Regional Ceremony takes place on the 12 October 2010. The winner of the National Award for Best Training Supplier will be announced in December.

An ideal fit for the retail sector, DB2 pureScale from IBM is going to allow organisations to increase capacity when they need it at the really busy times like Christmas and the January sales and scale back at times of less demand.

(PRWEB) July 28, 2010

Based on the industry leading System z data sharing architecture, DB2 pureScale integrates IBM technologies to keep critical systems available 24/7. DB2 pureScale allows organisations to have multiple database servers in a system that all share a common set of disks providing both scalability, availability and application transparency.

Triton Consulting recently sent a team of DB2 experts to the IBM labs in Boeblingen Germany on a research and development project into DB2 pureScale. After seeing DB2 pureScale in action, DB2 LUW expert Clair Ross said “If you’re a retailer with a high volume online transaction environment then pureScale is going to be absolutely ideal for you. You’ll be able to increase capacity when you need to at the really busy times like Christmas and the January sales and scale back at the times when you’re experiencing less demand. Plus, we’ve not mentioned here the need for continuous availability, pretty much every organisation would like continuous availability but for online retailers it’s essential.”

Continuous Availability

DB2 pureScale keeps critical systems available all the time, giving uninterrupted access to data throughout both planned and unplanned outages. Fast recovery and data availability is assured, even with large clusters, by utilising the centralised locking capability of PowerHA pureScale.

In situations where one or more servers fail, whether due to hardware or software problems; the workload balancer automatically recognises which servers are available and sends transactions across to these servers without application interruption. Whilst this is happening, DB2 pureScale is doing a fast crash recovery on the failing node. By using automatic workload balancing to ensure that no node in the system is over loaded, DB2 will route transactions or connections to the least heavily used server.

Zero Downtime for Planned Outages

DB2 pureScale allows routine hardware maintenance, operating system changes or other configuration changes to be carried out by simply removing the relevant server from the cluster. The workload balancer redistributes transactions to the other servers in the cluster. This is done with complete transparency to the application and no interruption to the environment meaning that planned outages can be carried out whenever necessary rather than waiting for that late-night on Sunday window. This is vital for global organisations with users accessing their systems 24/7.

Capacity on Demand

Being able to quickly respond to rises in workload has become a competitive advantage. IT teams need the ability to respond quickly to change requests and provide extra capacity at peak times.

DB2 pureScale is designed to allow organisations to grow and shrink their server cluster on demand. This can be done without application changes and with no interruption to the business. Organisations that experience large peaks and troughs in their workload can add more capacity during that period and remove it when workloads reduce.

Cost Savings

Instead of over-provisioning environments to handle peak times, organisations can license the machines they want for the time they need. Customers can choose to pay for the additional cores only on the days that they use them. This means that a server can be added for a few days during those peak times and released when it is no longer needed, without additional cost. .

Application Transparency

DB2 pureScale is transparent to the application and can be implemented with no changes to the underlying application code. Additional servers can be added without the need for application developers to re-design their applications.

About Triton

Triton Consulting are IBM Premier Business Partners and have expert knowledge of DB2 both in mainframe and midrange environments. Having expertise in both areas means that our consultants can bring their years of mainframe data sharing experience together with their knowledge of DB2 for midrange and so are ideally placed to provide support on DB2 pureScale implementations.

London (PRWEB) July 10, 2010

Canonical, the company behind the Ubuntu project, today announced its support for the Ubuntu Free Culture showcase. The showcase will offer artists, photographers, and musicians of every background the opportunity to have their work ship with Ubuntu 10.10, the popular Linux-based operating system available in October 2010.

‘Art in the Open’ will expose winning contributors’ work to millions of users worldwide and is a demonstration of the energy, quality and power of the open culture.

“We are committed to the idea of ‘Art in the Open’ at Ubuntu,” said Ivanka Majic, head of design at Canonical. “The work we do in an open environment delivers the same quality as closed ones and we believe will be even more successful through tapping into this wide world of volunteer contribution.”

The Free Culture Showcase looks to reach beyond what is commonly perceived as the Open Source community. Artists and creatives who may never have been part of an open project before are encouraged to contribute. Winning work will be featured with the contributors’ name and all work contributed will be covered by a Creative Commons license.

“We want graphic designers, musicians, photographers and creatives of every stripe to feel they have a place in the Ubuntu project,” continued Majic. “Very often without being employed by a vendor, they cannot meaningfully contribute to the tools they use or the OS they consume. With Ubuntu and Open source, we hope they realise that it is different and that that difference is important.”

Details

Claymont, DE and London, UK (PRWEB) July 12, 2010

Green Hat has delivered a new release of its flagship automated testing software, GH Tester, that encompasses more than 70 new features delivering value for agile enterprises who require innovative automated testing for real business advantage. The new release, GH Tester 5.2, includes innovations that make testing simple for users of complex, heterogeneous systems that rely on HP, Microsoft, Oracle, SAP, Software AG, and TIBCO technologies for their Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), Business Process Management (BPM), and emerging Cloud projects. Green Hat customers using GH Tester routinely experience efficiency gains in excess of 50% at any stage of testing.

“We see increasing requests from clients in the SOA, BPM and emerging Cloud space that need innovative testing software to help them deliver against business objectives,” said Sue Eustis, President, WinterGreen Research. “Green Hat is very agile at delivering the enhancements in the automated testing arena that customers want.”

Through listening and working with customers, Green Hat provides features that constantly deliver higher levels of productivity, integration, functionality, and automation that customers value. The new GH Tester features include:

Enhanced productivity for SAP customers - SAP Intermediate document (IDoc) structures are now supported, and can be synchronized from an SAP server and used for the sending, receiving and validation of message payloads. There is also the capability to drive the SAP Graphical User Interface (GUI) through the GUI interaction step in GH Tester.

Better integration and productivity for HP customers - GH Tester now integrates with HP’s QuickTest Professional (QTP) to allow users of that product to include calls to QTP in their test scripts. This is in addition to Green Hat’s own User interface (UI) testing capabilities.

Increased functionality for TIBCO customers - TIBCO BusinessWorks users can now include all the benefits of design time libraries in GH Tester to provide access to shared resources such as schemas.

Latest level support for Software AG customers - for users focused on automating and managing processes, version 8 of Software AG’s Business Process Management Suite (BPMS) is now supported. For users embracing SOA governance, version 8 of Software AG’s CentraSite product is supported, automatically maintaining documentation assets for services as well as providing a range of quality policies.

•Increased functionality for Microsoft customers - Microsoft .NET users can now create, and validate .NET objects.

•Increased functionality for Oracle customers - users can now test Oracle Fusion Middleware compositions.

Greater control and governance for project test teams - for different levels of expertise where there is a division of roles and responsibilities in a project team, projects can now have permissions for various actions, restricting what individual users or groups can do in that project. There is also a governance API which allows users to create rules about best practices and assure they are implemented.

Higher levels of productivity for regression and debugging - users can en masse automatically create a new baseline for tests, overwriting existing results. Tests can be automatically ‘re-based’ to include new results, and temporary suites can be created with copies of tests for ad hoc investigations of systems.

Many other new features provide productivity and performance enhancements for key areas including managing tests, Java objects, reports, log files and user interfaces.

“We work closely with our customers to understand their requirements and aim to be highly responsive to their needs,” said Peter Cole, President and CTO, Green Hat. “Agile enterprises need an automated testing software vendor they can trust who will constantly innovate to meet their current and future business requirements. We make testing simple for our customers, speeding their time to market, delivering rapid return on investment, and making their businesses better.”

In an agile world, continuous testing is critical for enterprise-scale SOA and BPM deployments, including the application infrastructure that underpins emerging Cloud projects. Green Hat delivers test innovations that enable virtualization, service reuse, governance and quality for end-to-end testing of customer environments.

Highlights: Latest version of MyID PIV now available – MyID PIV 8 SR1, Based on the most recent PIV Standards, Levers MyID’s interoperability to exploit convergence between Federal and non-Federal identity and credential management projects, Proven Deployments

London, United Kingdom (PRWEB) July 15, 2010

Intercede (London Stock Exchange AIM: IGP) today announced the release of MyID PIV Version 8 Service Release 1 (SR1) for US Federal, State and Local Government. This latest version of MyID PIV supports the most recent Federal Information Processing Standard 201 (FIPS 201) updates and is in use and available today.

Intercede already has more than 10 US Federal Government Agencies already using MyID PIV 8 and we anticipate that most of these customers will be contracting to upgrade to the new SR1 version over the coming months. The benefit to Agencies is that SR1 will enable them to maintain compliance with the recently modified SP800-73-3 standard as well as facilitating the use of the latest Microsoft platforms.

MyID PIV 8 SR1 also builds on Intercede’s substantial experience in supporting non-Federal customers who need to issue identity credentials that are interoperable with the US Federal PIV systems (PIV-I). The programs include Transportation Worker Identity Credential (TWIC), First Responder Authentication Credential (FRAC) and Airport Credentials Interoperability Solution (ACIS). Intercede has already won the TWIC system, has secured a growing number of early FRAC deployments and anticipates participating in the ACIS program.

In addition, MyID PIV 8 SR1 supports private sector US government contractor organisations that wish to benefit from issuing credentials that are compatible with PIV compliant security hardware and electronic card content . These solutions are termed PIV compatible (PIV-C). Intercede is already supplying PIV-C solutions to Lockheed Martin (150,000 employees) and a major US government integrator/consultancy group in the DC area. Intercede anticipates deploying PIV-C to other major customers later this year.

MyID PIV was the first card management system to be listed on the FIPS 201 approved products list and is the only PIV identity and credential management platform that provides a single point for registration, identity checking/vetting, issuance, lifecycle management and auditing/reporting. Two of the key advantages which are unique to MyID PIV are a single point of revocation for PIV identity cards and other credentials (e.g. RSA SecureID tokens) and a single point of auditing and reporting across all stages (registration, identity checking/vetting and issuance) of the PIV card lifecycle.

What’s New in MyID 8 PIV SR1

Support for PIV-I and PIV-C

Support for the latest standards for PIV, PIV-I and PIV-C (SP800-73-3)

Automatic on-card recovery of up to 20 historical encryption certificates

Support for the next generation PIV Cards including Oberthur, Gemalto, G&D and SafeNet

Usability Enhancements for PIV, PIV-I and PIV-C

Extended Microsoft Platform Support

Intercede President and Chief Executive, Richard Parris said, “This latest update to the MyID software platform continues Intercede’s momentum as the premium supplier of PIV management systems to the US government and related markets. While our competitors have been talking about their aspirations in these sectors, Intercede has been steadily securing market share by delivering quality products and services that enable our customers to meet their program plans. As the next wave of PIV procurements commences, both inside and outside of government, Intercede is well positioned to extend existing deployments and to win business from new federal, state and private customers”.

About Intercede

Intercede is the producer of the MyID® Identity and Credential Management System (IDCMS). Intercede’s MyID is the only IDCMS software product that enables organizations to easily and securely manage the identities of people and their associated identity credentials within a single, integrated, workflow driven platform. This includes enabling and managing: secure registration, biometric capture, application vetting and approval through to smart card personalisation, issuance and management.

Intercede’s MyID is being used around the world by large corporations, governments and banks to manage millions of identities for employees, citizens and customers. Notable deployments in the US include more than 10 Federal Agencies, a program with Lockheed Martin and two major US financial institutions. In Europe and the Middle East, Intercede’s MyID is being deployed in support of government identity, health and corporate employee ID security projects.

(PRWEB) July 16, 2010

The European Union (EU) has selected a revolutionary cloud platform developed by Flexiant, the UK leader in cloud computing, as a test bed for a seven million euro pan-European technology project. The project, code-named Optimis, results from a highly competitive selection process which brings together Europe’s leading experts in cloud computing. The consortium of industrial and academic partners, including ATOS Origin, SAP and British Telecom, will create the software tools needed to run the next generation of cloud platforms.

Optimis was conceived to provide organisations with the capability of working beyond the inherent limitations of local cloud capacity by allowing workloads to be moved between clouds, whether public or private. Optimis is conducted under the EU’s Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) for research and technological development. FP7 bundles together all research-related EU initiatives and plays a crucial role in achieving the goals of growth, competitiveness and employment.

Flexiant developed Europe’s first cloud computing platform, FlexiScale and is one of only three independent public cloud providers in Europe and five worldwide. Flexiant’s ground breaking technology, Extility, allows service providers and data centre operators to deliver a cloud computing service to their own customers. Flexiant will use its Extility technology to provide a robust proving ground for the EU project, demonstrating that the Optimis tool set is able to run in a real public or private cloud environment.

Cloud computing allows businesses to lease computing power as and when they need it, rather than having to buy expensive equipment. Businesses use the internet to access computing resource from hosting providers who provide a platform to collect, store and process data. The net effect is to drive down operating and capital expenditure while significantly reducing the carbon footprint of each transaction and providing infinite scalability.

Alex Bligh, Flexiant’s CEO says: “The evolution ofcloud computingis moving at breakneck speed and we are delighted our cloud platform is being used to help develop the tools needed for a new generation of cloud platforms. It is a privilege to work with the EU at this level beside Europe’s information technology leaders.”

Discharge summaries are now routinely delivered within 24 hours of patients leaving the hospital.
The solution was rolled out Trust-wide to 15 wards in two months.

(PRWEB) July 22, 2010

SRC, a UK provider of clinical information and digital document creation solutions, has announced that Ealing Hospital NHS Trust in London now routinely delivers discharge summaries within 24 hours of patients leaving hospital using SRC’s electronic Discharge Summary (eDS) Solution. The solution was rolled out Trust-wide to 15 wards and clinical areas in under two months.

The solution has also enabled Ealing Hospital NHS Trust to improve patient safety and patient experience using the built-in medicine management tools.

Clinicians at the hospital now complete accurate and legible discharge summaries electronically, which are then reviewed and authorised by pharmacists before prescriptions are dispensed. This is a paperless process. Upon patient discharge, the completed summary is automatically sent via a secure electronic link to the patient’s GP practice. Patients leave the hospital with a printed copy that includes information about their medications.

The Multilex Drugs Dictionary from First Databank is built into the solution and has been configured to pre-populate dosages for common medications and to allow only senior clinicians to prescribe certain drugs, such as chemotherapy agents. The solution also prevents the prescribing of medicines prior to the discharge assessment and notes patients’ allergy status.

Ward-based nurses can track the status of prescriptions, allowing them to plan discharges for individual patients. Patients receive written information about what their medications are treating, as well as when and how they should take them.

Clinicians have found the solution very easy to use with the Microsoft Healthcare CUI standard compliant user interface. The solution is integrated and synchronised with the hospital Patient Administration System (PAS), updating patient records using the global standards HL7 messaging. The interface ensures that discharge summaries can be produced quickly with all the correct patient data available through one single application.

During the implementation SRC and clinical software specialists Bluewire Technologies worked closely with the hospital’s senior pharmacists and clinicians to ensure that the solution fitted hospital workflows and to tailor the built-in medicines management features. Ealing’s pharmacy department deals with approximately 300 discharge prescriptions a week.

Chief pharmacist Stuart Richardson said: “Prescriptions are now legible and clear and are being written to a standard format that complies with the contract agreed with our commissioners.”

He added: “Patient safety is a huge component of this and it has been an interesting and enjoyable process developing the medicines management features with SRC and Bluewire Technologies.”

“It’s been great to engage with the designers to tailor the eDS to suit our needs, and those of other hospitals too.”

Kevin Connolly, Director of ICT at Ealing Hospital, added: “This has been a major strategic project and I am very pleased to confirm that our key investment objectives have now been enabled. The pace of implementation has been swift but this has not compromised on attention to detail, nor commitment to delivering a robust end product.”

“At the commencement of the project we had considered the major challenge to be achievement of a binding consensus around the necessary clinical/pharmacy workflows – and then to successfully reflect these decisions in the system configuration and design.”

“The system has now been live for over a month and in that time we have not encountered any significant issues, nor complaints amongst clinical staff about the burdens introduced by a new computer system. This should not be under-estimated. It is indeed the pay-off for the very detailed initial process design work undertaken by our clinical and pharmacy leads, expertly guided by the SRC and Bluewire Technologies implementation lead.”

Chris Hart, CEO at SRC, said: “Our eDS solution, part of the SRC Clinical Information Toolkit, is unique in its ability to reduce production and delivery timescales as well as significantly improving the quality and content of discharge summaries. All key objectives of the Ealing Hospital NHS Trust.”

“We are delighted by the successful and rapid rollout which the joint project team has achieved at the Ealing Hospital NHS Trust.”

London, UK (PRWeb UK) July 22, 2010

British Gypsum, part of the Saint-Gobain Group, a worldwide leader in construction markets, has selected Acronis® as its base disaster recovery technology to protect the servers and clients controlling the production of plasterboard and bagged plaster across its five manufacturing sites in the UK.

British Gypsum is planning on using Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 to protect over 50 servers and 90 clients which control the production processes across the five different sites that deliver manufactured products to both UK and European markets. With British Gypsum reporting a successful implementation complete at three plants, the final two plants are currently being rolled out.

Kevin Erne, IT Infrastructure Manager at British Gypsum, who was instrumental in the improvements to the DR process comments: “Every hour of system downtime bears significant cost in production and is potentially disruptive to our business. After a thorough review of DR solutions available on the market, we chose Acronis to provide reliable and fast recovery of our production machines. So far over half of the machines have been deployed with Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 software and it has proven to be a solid solution for us to entrust our system recovery to.”

Kevin Moreau, Corporate Accounts Director for Northern Europe at Acronis said: “Operations such as paper mills, beer bottling chains and automotive assembly plants simply cannot be subject to hours of downtime, and IT teams need fully automated systems which have minimal impact on their servers. We speak to manufacturers all too often whose IT teams recognise the impact of downtime on the bottom line of their company, yet don’t get the budget to remedy this. However, DR does not have to be expensive - you can protect a client from about £30 to £40 a machine.”

He continued: “We are very pleased to add another renowned company to our list of customers, which truly leverages the advantages of our technology in mission-critical applications. I see our products increasingly being used in the manufacturing sector, specifically to protect production and control systems. For Acronis this is an industry where we can really help companies as server or client failure in manufacturing often means significant losses in revenues.”
