Are you a mom who would like to start a new business? Many mothers who are raising children of various ages find themselves wanting to get involved in the running of a company. They enjoy the thought of being their own boss and also earning an income. Childrearing can be very rewarding, but so can having your own business. This article lists some organizations that are providing financial assistance to promising women entrepreneurs. You may be one of them.

Organizations offering funds for women

• WomensNet.net – The Amber Grant Foundation program is offered by this organization. Funding is provided every month for the purpose of assisting women in establishing their own small businesses. If you are a stay-at-home mom, you might be especially interested in this program, as it is geared specifically to online and home-based businesses. Funds in the amount of $500 to $1,000 are awarded. This type of financial aid will assist women with the lower expenses that may be incurred when starting up a small business, such as establishing a website or obtaining the proper supplies.

• Chicago Foundation for Women – Grants are awarded to women who are striving for ways to better themselves and also benefit others. There are two sources of funds:

1. Strategic Response Fund. The amount of $50,000 per year is awarded through this fund. Each woman who becomes a recipient will receive approximately $7,500 for the purpose of starting her business.

2. Sophia and Bayrach Fund. This fund requires applications to be sent in electronically.

• Halstead Bead Corporation – If you would like to start a jewelry business, this corporation can help you with its Annual Business Development Grant. To apply, you must be either studying jewelry design or already professionally designing jewelry. Every summer, a lucky lady will receive $6,000 in merchandise and cash to help her get started with a jewelry business.

• Women’s Financial Fund – If you are a motivated woman who would like to open your own business or already have your own company, this Fund has grants that can help you. There are two different types of grants, the New Business Grant and the Existing Business Grant. Funds can be awarded in amounts up to $5,000. With the New Business Grant, all types of companies are eligible. The Existing Business Grant provides funds to women who have a business that they would like to upgrade, thereby increasing the worth of their company.

• Business Owners’ Idea Café – Grants are provided to African-American women who already have a business that has been in existence for at least six months. The grant recipient will receive $1,000 in cash funding plus $1,500 in advertising.

There are many organizations that recognize the efforts of highly motivated women in starting and maintaining a business. These women may very well be mothers who are also raising a family. If you are a mom and have the desire to start or upgrade your own business, you’ve nothing to lose by researching if there is funding available to you.

Most teenagers have difficulty understanding that their actions today can have serious consequences in the future. Parents have the great responsibility of helping them to visualize the far-reaching costs that can result from irresponsible behaviors. For example, most teens think that they will never get caught drinking and driving, and, even if they do, the resulting violation will result in a simple fine and a slap on the wrist. Few know that this kind of infraction will affect several areas of their lives for more than a decade. Parents should educate their children about not only the instant price that must be paid for getting a driving under the influence (DUI) conviction, but also teach them about the following long-term consequences that that come after such a crime:

Increased Insurance Premiums
Insurance companies consider anyone with a DUI conviction a high risk for accidents of all kinds. This type of charge may not only make car insurance skyrocket, but it could also affect the cost of life insurance. In some cases, it might even negatively affect one’s ability to get property insurance at a reasonable price.

Financial Strain
While most teens know that they will be assessed a fine if they get caught driving while intoxicated, few realize just how expensive such an act can be. The following are just some of the expenditures that might have to be afforded after an arrest:

• Court fees
• Attorney retainers
• Impound or towing charges

Employment Difficulties
Most employers consider a DUI such irresponsible, risky behavior that they are unwilling to take a chance on someone with such an offense. In today’ slow job market, where employers have several applicants for any position, a DUI conviction will act as a red flag and can result in a resume being thrown into the rejection pile without a second thought.

Travel Restrictions
Some DUI convictions are considered a misdemeanor; others are labeled a felony offense. Either of these can cause difficulty with travel plans for ten years or more. Several countries do not allow convicted felons to cross their borders, and Canada has even stiffer rules that forbid those with even a misdemeanor DUI conviction to enter their territories. Even if a traveler manages to get into another country with a DUI on record, it may be difficult and time consuming to re-enter the United States.

Even if a teenager does not feel intimidated by the penalties listed above, most can identify with the humiliation that will come from getting caught drinking and driving. Parents who wish to take a proactive stance might have good results by having their teenagers talk to parents who have actually lost their children because of a drunk driver. Parents need to realize that binge drinking among teenagers is on the rise, and this type of lesson usually hits the heart and may affect their teens more than any statistical data ever could.

I’m a mum. Mum of two kids aged 13 and 8. And yes, I love being a mum. However there are those days when I’m kind of tired of hearing the word mum. Let me explain.

For instance on weekends, since they get up it is “mum” for everything. Mum get me that, mum I want to eat, mum can I go and play with the neighbours, mum get me a sandwich, mum what do I dress, mum, mum, and more mum. It is mum all day long.

As we have three floors in the house I sometimes spend the entire day going downstairs and upstairs only to answer their requests. It can be very tiring.

However, on weekdays, while they are at school and I’m at home alone, I miss them. I miss them calling me mum, I miss their fights, I miss their voice, I miss everything about them. I really miss them bugging around me and calling me all the time. It might sound weird but it is the truth. It is so good to have them around and sometimes I only realize that when they aren’t. Of course a little space is needed.

“Mum” is a three letter word but, a really powerful word., the biggest word in the world.

Choose Lead-Free Paint

When you are painting your child’s nursery or bedroom, make sure you use lead-free paint. Traditional paints with lead in them are both harmful for the environment and for the health of your child. Lead is a heavy metal that is harmful to the soil and to groundwater. Breathing it in or ingesting it (in water, for example) can cause a number of health problems, including nerve damage and developmental delays in children.

Buy Organic, Sustainable Fabrics

Children go through a lot of clothes in their early years, as they quickly outgrow outfits, shoes, and more. Help reduce your environmental impact by choosing fabrics that contain organic or sustainable materials. Organic cotton and bamboo (a sustainable fabric) are quality choices. Look for these fabrics when purchasing linens, blankets, curtains, and other fabrics that will be in your child’s room.

Skip Plastic

Many children’s toys are made of cheap plastic and other synthetic materials. Pass over toys made of this harmful, non-biodegradable material and choose those made of wood or metal instead. Cut out other plastic items that your children use, as well, including bottles, cups, utensils, and more. Choose glass, metal or wood — all of which are recyclable. Even when items are made of wood, glass, or metal, you should still be mindful to choose items that are not covered in lead-free paint. If you must purchase an item that includes plastic, look for items that are BPA free.

Buy Local, Organic Foods

This is a step you can take to help the whole family. The production and shipping of traditionally grown food uses quite a bit of natural resources and non-biodegradable materials (for packaging). When you buy local, you cut down on the energy required to ship the products.

You also ensure that you are purchasing fresher foods that do not require the use of harmful chemicals to preserve them. Choosing local, organic foods is not only better for the environment, but it is better for your family’s health.

There are many more ways that you can help your children and your family to go green. Starting with these simple steps can help you do a lot to reduce your family’s environmental impact and to improve the health of your family. I’m not a traveler. Not because I don’t want to but due to financial issues. I’ve been to south of Spain four times in a raw before my oldest sun was born and then we never left the country again.

Although I dream, like most people, to travel to tropical countries, I understand that I have lovely countries in Europe that I can also visit and enjoy.

Finland is one of the countries I would like to visit. I’ve heard so many good news about it that I’m curious to stop by and see for myself. It seems to be a dream country.

I always think of Finland when I think about the countries I would like to visit due to the amazing Aurora Boralis that happens there. Finland is also known for its natural beauty. There are some activities that can be done while visiting such as a husky sled though the snowy landscapes or just rest in a cozy and warm log cabin.

It would be great to visit Finland and enjoy its beauty. It would also be interesting to experiment the tasty Finnish food which is quite famous. Maybe one day I will have the possibility to go there and write about by own experience while visiting the country.

It has been two months since I last wrote an updated about my niche site.

My niche site is still a PR0 but know with an Alexa Rank of around 640.000.

I have decreased the number of posts that I publish and I’m changing a little my technique. I’m going to write specific articles with certain keywords, get articles published in articles directories in order to get a large number of backlinks. With this technique I will, hopefully, increase the site exposure and get ranked in the search engines.

I’m investing some money in software to automatize the process and reduce my time doing time consuming tasks.

This Christmas day we had a little surprise.

We had a beautiful blue parakeet that around three months ago disappeared from the cage where it was living with a yellow parakeet. He escaped from the cage through a small space it had.

The day it disappeared was quite sad for my kids because it was a parakeet that was born and raised in our house. Usually this type of bird do not return home and some even die because they are not capable to survive in the wild.

On Christmas day my husband was preparing to leave the house to buy some fresh bread when he noticed a parakeet on the parking lot. It was our parakeet that had disappeared three months ago. After running after it for several minutes he was able to grab it on his hands and brought it home. It really was our parakeet.

We were all super excited with this finding. The parakeet was starving. He has some wounds on the paws, was a little shaken but overall he was fine.

He is now back to his cage, in fact, to a new cage because we offered out parakeets a new cage for Christmas. We have now four parakeets in a big cage with a nest attached. We are hoping to increase the parakeet family with new members.
