Em 1965, Bob Dylan lançou os discos Highway 61 Revisited e Bringing It All Back Home, dois álbuns gravados com uma banda de apoio, incluindo guitarras elétricas, fato que chocou a comunidade Folk americana. Quando tocou no Newport Folk Festival, em 1965, foi vaiado. Em 16 de maio de 1966, Dylan lança Blonde on Blonde e um dia depois faz um show em Manchester, onde a comunidade Folk era forte... e rancorosa. Na primeira metade do show, Dylan toca suas canções Folk, apenas ele, violão e gaita. Na segunda metade, uma banda o acompanha (que mais tarde se tornaria a maravilhosa The Band). No início, aplausos, mas aos poucos, é possível ouvir críticas da plateia entre as músicas. Antes da última , "Like a Rolling Stone", alguém grita "Judas!!". Essa é a reação de Bob Dylan:
