Unintentional compliment I've always heard that being accused of using chess computer is a great compliment. After all, you're playing so well that your opponent actually believes you have to be cheating to find all those great moves. What better compliment could you ask for? Finally, it's happened to me. On GK blitz earlier today. "You are using computer and I don't care to play your computer program, moron." And in bright yellow: "Game ended:… More: backgammon online

Your FAV Game !? Greetings all. I am back, more or less, and hungry to see some Chess games. Preferably with some notes too, but not necessarily. So here's the place, if someone wants to show off their favorite win (or loss/draw for that matter :) Doesnt matter if a masterpiece, a close call, back and forth 'dogfight', learning experience, or whatever. I might have one coming up one of these days. But my Fav tends to change from day to day. So… More: online chess

R v 4 pawns Which do you think is more advantageous, a rook or 4 or 5 pawns? I can show you the latest lost game in my profile where I had a rook against 4 pawns but they were so strong I lost the game! A very interesting position though? Joanne Well, 2 connected passed pawns that have reached the 6th rank are usually stronger than a rook, depending on the King positions--usually minus the Kings. In as much as this is true, four connected… More: backgammon online

Chess programs Hey ya'll, I'm wanting to purchase a new chess program. And I have been unable to decide between Chessmaster 10th and Fritz8. I've decided not to go with the latest fritz because of the current price. The chessmaster, I've read, is better for amatuers and people who need an easier to use interface. Yet Fritz8 is much better for those who are already more progressed players. I'm about a 1100 rating and would like to get much better… More: correspondence chess

Forced Mate? I am sorry but this is one I really don't know. Can a rook and knight force mate against a rook? Um, I think you should probably wait until your game with steveoz (board #7733959) is over to get advice on that question. Not Advice Just a question. I am not asking how to defend or anything. If that question had already been asked and answered here, would it be cheating if I read that thread? No one can or will give you a answer to play chess online…

Guidelines for openings, middlegames, and endgames I've copied and pasted the following chess guidelines from another website. They are purportedly from Reuben Fine's "Chess the Easy Way," but the validity of this claim, as with most claims made on the Internet, may be taken with a grain of salt. Nonetheless, these guidelines might well be worthy of consideration. * A. The Three Basic Principles of Chess 1. The Principle of Force. The player who play chess online…

a little annoying board #596538 board #596539 I politely asked him to resign in these games--- no answer. :-( perhaps... its because he is nearly stalemate in both of them? he's nowhere near stalemate. mate next move in one, and on the other he's got all those pawns and a bishop he can move. Yeah but... He can still try for it. Thats the downside of playing correspondence, there is long time periods per move. I think it is rude… to ask someone play chess online…
