iPhone 4S: The Winning Journey

Bear with me with this long blog post... it's a very long story...

On the day after Boxing Day, which is 27th of December 2011, the moment I failed to received a call, my Nokia C6 was crazy all of a sudden. I could not accept the phone call. My hope was dashed as I expected a prize from The Star Bid and Win contest, or maybe it was an insurance company to follow up with me. I just leave it there until the second time my phone rang. Heck, my phone gone crazy again! If I can't receive this call I was about to trash it into the bin. Geez!

After 10 frustruating seconds, the phone finally accepts the call, my goodness! "Is this Wooi Kit?" What duh? Who knows my name? A sweet lady talking to me like my 'girlfriend' (Single and Forever Alone!). "Yes speaking."

"Congratulations! You have been the Top 3 Tweets for ChurpChurp Christmas Giveaway contest, which you would have to come down to our office for lucky draw session." Seriously?! At first I thought it was a joke, but then I realised I had participated in that contest myself. "Really? Thank youuuu! So what's the prize do I get?" I asked.

"Yes! But you have to come over to our office for lucky draw. There are 9 presents here, from what I know one of them is an iPhone 4S." she said. "I see. By the way do you know what are other gifts that you will giveaway?" I purposely asked. Since the other gifts won't be revealed yet, I started to think about it so much. My first thought, "What if I don't win an iPhone 4S? Might I win Samsung Galaxy S2 instead?"

I was at my hometown, and she said I was invited to attend the lucky draw the next day. Quite rushing by the way. I had to skip my work just to attend this lucky draw, for one and only chance to own an amazing smartphone. I could borrow my friend's iPhone to play some games, such as Angry Birds, Fruit Ninja and more. Besides, I logged into my Facebook account to post status on my profile, and I was impressed with just that "seconds ago via iPhone (now mobile)" timeline. From there onwards, I just wanted to have my C6 changed to iPhone as I love to online on the go.

On the dark side of C6, I was disappointed with the slow response of the phone. 800MHz Symbian processor was satisfying but not good enough for web browsing. To connect through WiFi, it took me about 5 minutes long, then only the Facebook page is shown. I gave up on that and act this phone as a normal classic 3310 phone. But it's good to have touchscreen for a cheap price, but it's so heavy.

I started my bus journey at around 8.30am, reached Puduraya at 1pm. Once reached KL, the first thing I do is walk around, following Google map for the nearest LRT station. I thought I could drop by Pavillion for a while, but it was far from walking distance away, so I just stopped by McDonald's for some McValue lunch. After that, I straight away ride LRT Putra line to Dang Wangi. As a first timer walking alone, or forever alone, I walked to the Monorail station using pedestrian crossing instead of using overhead crossing. I came across with an Indian couple who also drop by the station together to the Monorail, maybe they are surprised to see me walk from another side instead of following them. Yeah whatever, I am not local by the way.

The time was 2pm, 3 hours away from the lucky draw session. Since the Monorail has a route to Berjaya Times Square, I could spend time hanging around there. Yes, I'm still alone. Before that I managed to call up some friends in KL, however most of them are busy with their final exam. Walk here, walk there until 3.30pm. I decided to depart to the office early.

Once I reached the office building, I search for directories for ChurpChurp office. Wait a minute, I don't see any ChurpChurp name. Normally smart people would know that ChurpChurp is the sister company of Nuffnang, yeah I'm a bit dumb. During that time, I met up with Nurul Asyikin (@asyikinrosli) who was also a Churper like me, also invited by the Churpies too. She was in the Top 3 Most Facebook likes category. It was great to see people who can collect more likes than I do, I was jealous. Hehe! Mikaela

The churpies will ask a random question related to Churp Churp. The first person who answers correctly will get to pick any one of the envelope. I was the 2nd person to answer "partially" correct and I was nervous to pick which of them can bring me the iPhone. This is the moment when I chose, I got this envelope with number 8 which had brought me the best Christmas gift ever in my life...

I was surprised and lucky to be the owner of this wonderful gadget in this very world, last created by the late Steve Jobs. I could not wish anything more than this. That moment I was speechless. All of the contestants wishing congratulations to me, and I'm thankful that I was the lucky chosen one to take home this baby. Until today I still can't believe I really got one.

Thank you ChurpChurp for giving me this wonderful gift! :-)

Find Room For Rent

My brother is looking for a college now because he completed his SPM. It wasn’t easy to find for a college that has the course he wants. After sometime asking around and getting information from education fairs, we finally got him a suitable college to go to. However, the second problem arises. The problem was finding a place to stay. It was hard to find for a place to stay near his college. My parents were hoping to find a place near to his college so that he doesn’t need to walk a long distance every day. It was hard to find for a room to rent because we do not know anyone staying near his college in Melaka. The college was far away from home and to help me brother to feel like home, we have to find him a room that is clean and comfortable to be stayed for the next few years. We asked our friends if anyone knows any room for rent and finally someone told us that we could get it from the internet. There are many rooms for rent online and it’s easy to acquire the details online. So, we started surfing and searching for rooms online. One benefit of searching for rooms online is that they have pictures for you to see how the room looks like and the condition of the room. Also, the details such as the pricing and the location of the rooms available are all there for us to choose. So, it’s always easier to find for a room online than to go through house agents which is a hassle and would cost more.

2 weeks left for my poster presentation, I finished fabricating my PCB, then now into constructing propeller display. Can I finish my project in time? Well, hopefully.

Sundays are mostly to enjoy weekend life, but not to sleep at home and do nothing. The weather nowdays gone crazy, sometimes cold sometimes hot, but still I bathed with cold water. In this case I might get sick anytime.

Project Presentation

Today I followed my friends, Andy and Gabriel for shopping spree for our upcoming oral presentation. Well, I got what I have already, but I have asked my dad to help me bring some of his old-but-still-nice-and-like-new long sleeve shirts for me. We went to few places and eventually finished shopping in a day. Very tired indeed, and now I felt lazy to resume my project testing.

This photo makes me feel like I have done very much about electronic engineering, but still I have to learn more and do more about it.

Maybe tomorrow I will want to start preparing my slides, and so hope I got the best of luck in my presentation.

Paying Tribute to Steve Jobs

Right after iPhone 4S is announced, I woke up from my bed and open up my Facebook, and immediately found out a lot of peple saying "RIP Steve Jobs" in their wall. I was surprised but expected that Steve has to go due to his long time cancer battle. I am certainly look up on him because he is my inspirational man that inspires me for my upcoming oral presentation and projects. He gave so much innovation to the technology to this world and changes everyone's life forever with the most popular gadgets such as the iPhone, iPad, iPod, MacBook and iMac.

Without him, this blog would not be appearing in the iPad. This special blog post is for paying tribute to Steve Jobs (1955 - 2011).

Thank you, Steve.

Tomorrow is Friday! I am pretty stressed up on my projects, because I still left a few more to test before proceed to the next stage of project, fabricating the circuit design into printed circuit board. The thing is I found out the circuit design is quite complicated, and I have to first make sure the system works. Hoho! This project is not really simple as you thought.

Take a break... chill out first, and you would love to have an ice cold blended frappucino at Starbucks Coffee at your nearest area. But for myself, this is just my only few times of a lifetime drink. The taste is simple awesome, and you feel like you wanna have more of it. This tempting drink is simply not to be missed out.

Finally, I have ended my 9 days vegetarian mania. I was so happy that I can return to original meal routine, chicken chops, fish and chips, steak etc... No I don't really eat until my pocket is empty. Anyway I have to keep my budget low and save it for nice food.

Next week will be my oral presentation day. I was not the only one who was nervous about it, luckily there are 2 spectators (which are my assessors) in the room only watching me in front standing to give a presentation ala Steve Jobs style.

To be able to present it well, I need a gadget to suit my presentation performance. What had attracted me is that this gadget has more multitasking function than Apple. I doubt Apple would be better than anyone else in the smartphone or tablet category, but somehow this kid has more than enough features to the users.

Introducing Samsung Galaxy Tab, the Apple's very-the-serious contender now in progress of lawsuits. I don't know about that patent thingy, but make sure the gadget can work for the users.

I couldn't write much, because this week is kinda busy for my assignments and projects. Well, I just wanna share my photo editing skills, which was specially photographed by myself. Any comments would be appreciated, but please just don't be so negative on me ok? :)

This photo was taken during the time my friends and I were enjoying Coffee Bean at Queensbay Mall. I don't feel like drinking ice blended coffee at that moment, but I feel like taking photographs was much better though.

9 vegetarian days, who says eating vege for 9 straight days cannot tahan? I could resist on taking meats for that once in a year celebration of Nine Emperor Gods festival, which is also known in mandrin as 九皇爺. For more info, please wiki out here ya.

Year by year, the price for vegetarian economy rice is getting more and more expensive. In my opinion, this was due to the rise of cost and also inflation. This means I have to fork out some more cash to eat. What to do, I got no choice but to eat. That's what humans need to survive.

Seriously, I can't wait to eat chicken chop again. I had promised to have dinner with my friend, but due to this festival, I had to postpone the dinner. Geez... that's sound so bad of me for thinking about chicken chop, running in my head all the time. Don't get me wrong by the way, because I'm not that evil. Hehe!

During this festival, there are some interesting vegetarian foods which is similar to the Westerners, namely the pizza and burger! Yeah, they are still selling the same as previous years. This photo brings you a nice temptation for vegetarian burger.

Actually, that was not a real meat. I don't know how the meat is made of, but this is only available once in a year, so do not miss this opportunity to try out the nice vegetarian food around. They are good for your health too.

Hey everyone, it's been a while since I haven't post anything on my blog. More than 2 months later, I am back to blog again. This time I had more stories to share with you, with nice edited photos, made by my own with @SonnyKazu tag. No more head banging, brain juice pressing for me to start my blog posts. All I have is more photos!

Starting tomorrow, I will try my very best to resume blogging, no matter how tough is my final year project or assignments for me. In this case, I would have to keep my blog posts as short as I can, 200 words per day might be enough I guess, thought as a human I'm also quite lazy to write long posts.

Hence, I would like to announce my return to blog... again... (Err... how many times did I say this?)

Behind The Story - Asian Scene: Love Scenes

During my videoshoot, I am delighted that our production team have created another amazing moments together with the crew and also the casts. I gotta say this is my second time creating this video, and it is amazingly better than the previous one. Everything was well planned, although we still get some technical issue regarding the casts. Somehow we managed to get it done pretty soon than we expected.

On our first day, the production team together with the cast went to Straits Quay to shoot some scenes there. Once we reached there at around 2.45pm, the casts were getting ready to prepare their clothing for the shoot. But then a male cast took very long time to prepare, and yet he delayed our shooting time. Gosh! My partner says he is always like that. I don't think he needs to take longer time making up himself than girls do. *eyes rolling...*

First day of shooting went pretty well, but then suddenly things had to be changed. The male cast keep laughing all the time, and his face not that serious enough to act for the scene. The girl is pretty amazing, judging by her natural looks, maybe she can be the next star actress in the future. Due to the guy's problem, the director had forced to cancel the whole scene. Since this had happened, I gotta say about a friend of mine here, whom I have invited for shooting the minor scene. She had no chance to act at all. I feel pretty sorry about her waiting for long for her turn and I apologised to her as well. Hopefully she would understand what I am doing is really genuine. I'm being honest to ask for someone to come forward to join us, not asking someone out just for fun. Well, I hope she will give me another chance for the next videoshoot.

2nd day of the shoot, before we came to Straits Quay again, we prepared another script overnight. This time the plan worked well. As a videographer, I sometimes quite want to change the angles of the shoot. There are plenty of angles to choose from, not just only one particular angles. It doesn't really matter what kind of angles you want, but it does matter how you produce quality videos from that angle itself. Somehow I still prefer to get nice and extraordinary angles for the video, next time I gotta plan on camera angle in detail.

At the end of the shooting, for me that was the best day to get tired after shooting. Yes, I'm exhausted and I get to fall asleep easily too. After learning so much about videography skills, it's time for me to put my skills to the test on my next video assignment soon next month. The details on videoshoot is still unknown. I admit that I now love taking videos, passionate one. Now I feel that currently taking an engineering subject is pretty boring, but I still gotta end my diploma soon by the end of the year. Fight for success yo! :)

Asian Drama: Love Scenes

This is our new shorts made by Lye Low Productions entitled Asian Drama: Love Scenes.

How does love scenes in Asian Dramas differ from what we face in our real love lives?

All of these shots are made in full HD recording. I was pretty impressed with the quality of this video because this was my first recording with DSLR after I used my dad's 9-year-old Sony Handycam. Although I still like the old one which has nice white balance and great colour, this can only record in SD, also I still can't find any ways to transfer video files until now. Nowdays video recording has entered HD era, so the old technology has to go and we have to move on.

FYI, all these shots were made at only one location, Straits Quay.
We managed to shoot within two days during weekends.
Editing process takes much longer time as we don't afford to have high end computers like iMac. We only use normal PC with slower GPU for editing, for this we would invest for upgrading PC in the future.

April's Life: The Story

This month of April has come to an end. What can I say about my life during the month of April? Well, I just knew that I left something valuable to me, my bloggie has been abandoned for days, which is why my updates are from frequent to less frequent due to my busy schedule. So far my life is all about study, study, and study. One less lonely boy to spend time hanging out with friends, as most of the time has been spent on assignments and test.

I'm not just saying that I can hang out everyday, no! I have been stressed out from solving my assignments to revising my test. From day to night, I can't get enough sleep, even after few hours of my nap time I still can feel tiredness during work time. Oh dear. Initially I thought that my life as a student had changed drastically from time to time, and now I am going to enter the era of Final Year Project in which I will be starting in the next semester.

So how am I going to cope for another half a year to go to complete my diploma? Well, I dare not tell how am I going to face when the time comes, but I have to be prepared for it no matter what happens. This is the true obstacle in my diploma study life before achieving success. High hopes on my final two semesters to come.

Finally, I can relax myself during this semester break. The only thing I have to worry now is about modern control system subject, which is the toughest one in my final paper. Seriously I could only manage to answer with some equations without answers. I couldn't find any solutions for that as the time is ticking fast, and I got myself panicked all the time. I could see myself emo plus moody condition after I think about my future during the exam.

Well, what to do? The exam has passed. I shall not worry about the past anymore. There's still more to come, so we just gotta move forward. By the way, I have lot's of event photos that I haven't share with you guys yet. So in the meantime, I will update it once I reach my hometown if I have the time. My Experience with SONY Cyber Shot

Everyone has their very own experiences. The experience could be your happy moment, or sad moment, or even crazy moment. All of them can be saved by capturing still images using a camera. It doesn't matter how expensive the camera that we use, as long as we have treasured the captured moment. How do I have the best ever experience together with friends and family? Let's find out.

This is by far most interesting experience that I have gone through. Here I am about to reveal my happiest and craziest experience together with my friends.

Erik's Birthday Party on September 2010

That time was September the 2nd, my 4 friends and I celebrated his birthday at my previous hostel, which is 5 minutes walk from college. We have prepared steamboat meal for our dinner. Believe it or not, the steamboat meal was very simple compared to normal steamboat restaurant.

Anyway, hopefully next semester will be more relaxing one. I wish I wouldn't want to see my results when it reaches my house. I'm pretty scared right now. I hope this moment would never be forgotten among our friends here. I wouldn't be much be happier without them around.

Postcard Printing

Postcards are souvenirs tourists look for when they are travelling countries. But today, tourists take pictures of famous sceneries and places of history with their own manual or digital cameras. Travelers will know what famous places to take of the country they visit and with themselves in the pictures. Technology has advanced so much that a digital camera can store many shots and you can delete off those pictures which are not clear and make space for more beautiful pictures. What a vast difference compared to those days where we can only get standard postcards.

Now with so many pictures taken and with new technology we can transfer these pictures into postcards or booklet of our choice. Postcard printing is now the latest in thing that every travelers love. Many years back, we can only develop the pictures into photos and keep in albums as remembrance but now we can have them printed into glossy full color postcards and send them to our friends and relatives who live on the other side of the world. We can have our own personalized postcard printed and there are many sizes to choose from besides they are also printed recycled papers which are certified PEFC recycled papers.

Superman Came From India!

Recently I found out that Superman is truly not from the planet Krypton. I got the proof that he is really from India. Let's check this out. Clark Kent is the name given by the Indians too.

What's In My Mind?

Another boring Sunday, but not really. Last few days ago, it was really an amazing day for me for photoshooting. I get the chance to try out some skills that the typical pros done it before. Thanks to my friends who are willing to be my "model" of the day, I have enjoyed a wonderful time with you all. Sadly, the "model" do not allow me to post up the photos as promised. I'm apologised for that.

By the way, starting tomorrow will be the week 14 of Semester 6. Next 2 weeks will be my study break, and then the following week will be examination week for this semester. You have no idea why the time files so fast, even though that you still did not realised what is going on until today. For example, although I had passed up my report, until today I still doubt myself whether I had already passed up the report or not. I felt that there's too much things mixed up in my mind, which made some of my actions made to forget easily. This made me worried for the whole time.

I always think what I am going to do or plan in the future, of course I still need to surpass the obstacles in order to achieve my goals. Life won't be easy if you take the easy way too much. I think... I think... and I think, sometimes people think the different way than mine. I just accept anything, but not so negatively insane thinking for me.

Back to my blog, I was thinking whether is it worth to upgrade to domain website. Should I continue using blogspot or getting myself a domain? Agree or disagree? Free domain or own domain better? Or have to see what is my blogging level first? Anyway, I just gonna reconsider about this whenever I'm free. Or else, maybe I could made my own blog site apps on iPad? Hmmm... It's a good idea actually! :-)

5am McD Breakfast Experience (Free Big Breakfast Edition)

Early in the morning, I rarely woke myself up at that time. This was one of my few times that I woke up that early, other than travelling and uhm... to the toilet? *True for some occasion*

A week ago, I saw a poster of an egg yolk "pop-ed" out, looking from top to bottom, then something tempting wrote on the poster, "FREE 2 BIG BREAKFAST". This is something you won't be able to get from McD all the time, and it's truly and absolutely FREE! Where else can you get this kind of stuffs? Was Uncle Kentucky kind enough to give free meals? Nehh...!

I woke my friends up (as we had already agreed to visit McD earlier), getting ourselves ready and head over to Sunshine Square, Bayan Baru just for that breakfast. Upon our arrival... look at that crowd!

~~4am~~ 5am breakfast is never been the same again. Just ended recently last month, McDonald's have given away free 2 Big Breakfast coupons with a minimum purchase of RM5. It's was a real big hit for customers who wanted free breakfast with just only fork out few bucks to enjoy. The coupon can be easily found from cutouts of A4's with or without colour, original colour, newspapers etc, but most of them got their coupons as many as possible for that breakfast purchase. However, there's a chaos whereby you need to be patiently wait for hours just to get that free breakfast. It's normal for everyone to suffer a long queue, but sometimes it's extreme due to some factors that caused:

Number one and the most dissatisfied ever: ~~POTONG~~ CUT QUEUE!

The lady in blue shirt (middle picture) simply taking an advantage by jumping into queue while the early comers did not take any action against her. I waited for 1 and half hour to get my food while you came later than me and took an hour to get your food!?? This is just unfair! I'm too hungry for that breakfast, but can't you wait in line also? 30 mins difference is damn long! Meanwhile her daughter, who was queuing up by few people behind me, "celebrated and delightedly" walk to the counter and help her mom out.

You guys are too generous, and you should not be too nice to them if they want to jump in just to rushing into getting one freaking breakfast, or late for school, work, miss the bus, children crying out loud etc. Get them into the line, or give them a "HOT" lesson if they ignore you. I'll just pass on this issue. FULL STOP.

Too many coupons, too many big breakfast.

This is the case where you don't exactly follow the terms and conditions properly. One coupon per transaction ~~per customer~~! That means you can buy more with lots of coupons with you, and you just pay for the free breakfast. Let's say you got 3 coupons with you, you use one coupon and pay minimum amount of RM5. Then for the next coupon, just repeat the steps, use and pay. As you know the situation whereby one person alone may buy more than just a single coupon. This also affecting the long queue wait too.

I have witnessed a woman bought 8 sets of free breakfast, and of course she got help from his peers to carry the breakfast for her. McD should set a limit per customer to get the free breakfast. With this rule, this could be fair for everyone.

Only one counter is opened:

How could they possibly serve all the customers with long queue when only a counter is opened? Not to mention the production of the breakfast meal was quite fast, but why not open 2 counters? You know, I know most of the people hate to wait.

So near yet so far, still left these bunch of people waiting for their turn. Finally it's my turn to order all 3 sets of free breakfast with Apple Pie and coffee. Initially I saw there's 3 Apple Pie left at the counter, and I thought that 3 is going to be mine. However, before I leave, I checked through all the 3 sets assuming that the Apple Pie has already placed inside the bag. Once I reached home, I just realised that I forgot to wait for Apple Pie, because my friend have heard from the cashier to wait for 7 minutes for Apple Pie to be ready. I was shocked! Smacked into the face, bang myself into the wall. FML! I lost RM6 just for that 3 Apple Pie.

Last but not least, whenever I think about coffee, I forgot sugar. My dad said, "No sugar no worries! Pure coffee is ok good!" I also don't mind drinking it without sugar, but still it taste... UGHH!! PERGHH!!

What a day to conclude my early morning experience at McD. I got to admit that I do always yawn all the time, feeling sleepy during the wait, nevertheless it was a great day to start breakfast with McD. No wonder this place is the Malaysian's most favourite restaurant of all time, even in the whole world too.

Uhm... Not really a great day for me because believe it or not, I ate 4 sets of the breakfast meal for a whole day! Seriously!
