2009 saw the sharp rise of London-based producer and live act RuN RiOT. His critically acclaimed ‘Charge’ EP reached no.2 in the eMusic Breaks Chart, with Mixmag calling it a “Barnstoring EP”. His single ‘Ace’, released on Ape Music, was selected as one of Beatport’s ‘10 Must Hear Breaks Tracks’, whilst his remix of Double 99’s ‘RIP Groove’ for Skint Records was hailed as one of the Breaks tracks of the year (Kiss Fm).

2010 is set to be another big year for the 24 year old. Regularly hitting the Beatport top 40 and gaining support from Breaks’ DJ elite, his first vocal track ‘Take My Hand’ received 8/10 and ‘Single Of The Week’ from thisisbreaks. With a constant stream of original tracks and remixes planned for release throughout year trackitdown say, “expect big things from this young producer”.

RuN RiOT is rapidly gaining fans through his powerful and energetic live shows. Working his way through the ranks, he has already supported Adam Freeland, The Scratch Perverts and The Orb.

Here’s an article from audio-tuts.com that all you producers and computer musicians might find useful… Not the typical type of music download or artist post that usually graces these pages, but since I’m into this kind of stuff, I thought I would share it for all who might be interested.

I like thinking about mastering as a type of black magic. Filled with taboos and unapproachableness.

Everybody and their grandmother has an opinion about how things should be recorded and mixed, but when asked about mastering most people hush up and shrug. Mastering is a trickier subject to tackle than mixing I feel, and the delicate touch and subtleties a mastering engineer gives to a final mix sometimes sadly goes unappreciated.

However, there are certain things you mixing engineers can do to make the voodoo doctor’s work easier. Mastering takes a few oddball songs that were recorded in various places by various people and makes them sound like they were actually recorded, if not in the same room, at least on the same planet. So help out the mastering process by making sure your mix is ready to be mastered.
