Five years. Five years of feelings so big that you can't contain them. Five years of Pop. Seven inch singles. Sarah Records. Postcard Records. The Ronettes. Dreams in girl bedrooms. Teenage dreams. So hard to beat.

It's all really simple. A button that shows she's down with the Pastels. Pow! A blue and white striped shirt. Black hi-tops or Mary-Janes. A stolen look under the fringe or over a pair of black wayfarers. An innocent smile. Pop! You can't hide your love forever. You can hide your love forever. Light shuffling dance steps to Emmas House or Ever Fallen In Love (With Someone You Shouldn't've). You feel like seventeen again. And your heart skips a beat. Just like when you heard I Ain't Gonna Eat Out My Heart Anymore or Orange Juice for the first time. Oh, most beautiful Orange Juice. And you still believe in magic. And making mixtapes. With pop song his previous girlfriend is too stupid to know about. With ransom note letters cut from todays paper. And you make out with backs against the speakers and hands under shirts. Five years of Pop.

Thank you all regulars and non-regulars, DJs and bands, bar staff and door persons who have drunk and danced with us these last few years. There is too many of you to mention but you all have a place in our hearts.

To help us celebrate we are bringing Sven-Eric down from club This Is Not A Love Song in Göteborg. His selection of Soul and Indiepop, mixed up with punk and even latin flavoured pop has brought the roof down at previous nights and we expect no less on Friday.

In the beer garden we have newcomers Look Heart, No Hands, three girls who like pop, confetti and Oscar Wilde.

Noisepop, punk, soul, more noisepop and indiepop was on the menu on Friday when we turned The Waiting Room in to a steaming party of dancers and ehm... make-outers (out-makers?). Matthew of The Big Pink Cake played, inbetween sips of icy lemonade, song after song of fabulous stuff. Such a great DJ and it was heaven hearing Jesus & Mary Chain, Gold-Bears and the Ramones played so loud!

We're extremely happy to invite you to the launch of Too Cute To Puke in the UK! After a string of superfun and exciting nights in Sweden with hundreds of people ranging from riot girls to sixties go-go girls sharing the dancefloor we finally come to London.

TCTP is a club night where we bring the girls to the front and play strictly female fronted bands. Anything goes; Hits and obscure songs ranging from sixties girl-groups, yé-yé and garage girls, punk, indie pop to northern soul to new wave, post-punk, riot grrl, motown, ska, diy - as long as it's sung by a girl we're putting on the the needle it on.

Expect girl-tastic sounds on the dancefloor by guest-DJs Chasing Girls (Jaspin & Beth) and resident random tall guy So Tough Selector.

As you may or may not have heard we got completely and utterly screwed over by our venue of six years Retro in Malmö. So while we get another permanent home we will be doing some pop-up appearances here and there. Bloody hell! That was fun! One of our best attended nights ever in London and one of the most exciting as well. First, let us bring you the happy news, if me say that ourselves, that our femme fronted club night will launch in London in April. Please join our Too Cute To Puke UK group to get news of when and where.

As for you Swedes we're back at Moriska Paviljongen this Saturday with an amazing guest-DJ: the fabulous Miriam Pemberton! She regularly DJs all kinds of nights in Stockholm like the very fun Falling & Laughing but she's also done London and New York. We are very much looking forward to her selection of girl fronted floor fillers and well back her up with our own favourite tunes. To get everybody comfortably into the venue we've moved in the the bigger room Spegelsalen. See you on the floor!

Hej.
Klubben So Tough! So Cute! lägger med omedelbar verkan ner all verksamhet på Restaurang Retro i Malmö samt att jag, Daniel, avslutar allt samarbete med dem.

Under de sex år vi drivit klubb på Retro har vi naivt ignorerat alla dåliga ord och varningar men den senaste tiden har det eskalerat och framför allt har ägaren och delar av personalen behandlat oss och våra, samt andra klubbars, besökare riktigt illa.

Jag avråder å det bestämdaste alla klubborganisatörer, DJs, bokare och besökare från att någonsin samarbeta eller besöka Retro igen så länge de är under samma ägare. Jag personligen har aldrig blivit så överkörd och dåligt behandlad, både privat och i egenskap som arrangör, och jag kommer aldrig sätta min fot där igen. Behöver någon klubbarrangör behöver veta mer så kan jag kontaktas via mail eller PM.

So Tough! So Cute! Events kommer såklart fortsätta snarast möjligt på annan lokal. Tills dess så välkomnar vi er till vår andra klubb Too Cute To Puke.

Noise Pop don't stop! Yes! It's time to celebrate one of our favourite labels - Slumberland records! They've released so many great bands and records since the start in 1989 that it's, quite frankly, getting ridiculous. It is also starting to take up a lot of shelf space. From Henry's Dress and Back Tambourine to Frankie Rose via Ailers Set, Softies, Terry Malts, The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart and so many more. Most of you know this already but we've had a few people ask the last week why we picked the name 'Too Cute To Puke' for our femme fronted night. Was it because we think girl fronted bands are cute just because they're girls? No is the short answer.

The long answer is: So Tough! So Cute! was named after the Slits song 'So Tough'. Because it's an amazing song. The 'So Cute' bit came from the term 'cutie' that was lazily applied to all fey and twee indie pop bands in the eighties. When STSC started we played everything from tough and heavy sounding post-punkers Au Pairs, Delta 5 and the Slits to wimpy and twee cuties Field Mice, Brighter and Another Sunny Day (although Harvey insists he was Punk Rock). So you see, the name worked - tough and cute. Also we had a 15 minute deadline to come up with a name before we had to send off the flyers to the printers.

When it was time to name our new femme focused night we were madly and deeply in love with the much missed Mika Miko, who were punk rockers, and who had incidentally done a version of the Slits 'So Tough' song. Because it's an amazing song. And whilst digging backwards and forwards through their discography we ran into the song 'Too Cute To Puke' which contained the word 'cute' - which, if you have been paying attention, was already in the name So Tough! So Cute! so it kinda fit.

Top 100 Indie Singles Listed By Rough Trade

In 1999 a letter with the name ROUGH TRADE printed on the letterhead landed in a mailbox in Stockholm. It started with a simple "Hiya, Here Is Our Top 100" and what followed was 106 singles and EPs listed by Rough Trades own indie expert Sean to be published in the last issue of Pop. Yes, 106. No we don't know if Sean is really bad with math or just couldn't help himself and added a couple of extra ace tracks.

Anyway, we've decided to play these singles on Saturday. These bits of vinyl mean the world to us and are a big part of why we started So Tough! So Cute! so please come and join us for this trip.

As with the "De 100 Bästa Indiepopsinglarna (Någonsin)" party there will be a list where we'll be ticking off each track and hopefully you'll find a new favourite.

It took us 12 years to track these singles down and we do have quite a lot of them but far from all so if you happen to have any of them please bring it with you on the night and we'll play it.
